Pehrsons needs a lesson in customer experience. I think their work is decent but their communication is not. I agree with many others who have obviously had the same experience.
Got my trimmer back running perfectly.
This is a tentative rating, as Im waiting for two items to be repaired. Pehrsons has been a staple of the local community for as long as Ive lived here, which is 20 years, and the quality of their service has been variable at best. The guys who used to do the repairs were terrific to talk to and get advice and their work was great. But you had to put up with a cranky old sales guy at the counter who was so off-putting I stopped going for years. Im not sure if this is the second or third set of owners since then as theyve reopened after a long absence. A young female works the counter and shes helpful and pleasant, but no mechanic and she knows it. The mechanic she introduced me to was friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed totally trustworthy. Theyre moving the store in the near future so its barren inside. Well see how my two repairs go in terms of quality of work and fairness of price, and I may amend this review either way.
My sandwich tasted like tuna
Worst customer service. Told me 2 weeks and I called on week 3 told me after a compression test that my lawn mower was no good. Paid 30 dollars for a 30 minute test. Would not recommend this location.
They are at a new location just south of 39th on Highland Dr.
Great service, and a got a great mower at a reasonable price.
I took my steel chainsaw to them to be serviced and did not get a call when it was done it was there for at least six weeks and when I finally got it home it still doesn’t work. Do not take anything to these people you will regret it.
Had my lawnmower and generator serviced there and they both had problems. Not happy about it.
No masks. Hard to get them to answer the phone. Got my mower back almost a week after they promised it. Therefore it took almost 3 weeks to get a simple service. Not impressed.
Came in to try to find parts for a lawn mower. They couldnt help me, but accurately sent me to a different place that could. Service includes sending business out your own door to accurately find what you are looking for. I found no reluctance of service here. Nothing but smiles. Thanks much!!
Honestly, I went to a competitor first because I had read some of the negative reviews on here. The other place wasnt able to help me sharpen my mower blade (apparently they only will do them on Mon, Wed, & Fri) so I came here. The guy at the counter was infectiously happy and quickly sharpened my mower blade on the spot. I was in and out in a matter of minutes feeling happier than when I had walked in. It was just a simple job but I dont know what they could have done better.
Took my trimmer, mower, and snow blower in for annual service and these guys were fantastic. They tuned them up and returned them quickly all clean and ready to go. I was especially pleased that it turned out less expensive than I was originally quoted. They could have charged me the original quote price but they didnt. Very honest folks. Customer for life!
Helped my 90 year old neighbor after he broke the string on his lawn mower this morning on my way to the office. I took the fly when down pulling it off for him and shared the story with the kid at the desk here at this business . He cut a new string and brought it to me. I kindly asked if they could help me string it or get it started and the kid rudely told me 3 weeks for service. I asked again as it was for for and old neighbor and was more than happy to pay for the help and again he smiled very condescending at me and said 3 weeks again. Honestly 3rd time in 2 years I’ve gone in here and delt with the horrible customer service at this business. So I left the chord he cut and he yelled at me as I walked out. I took the park to speeds on 2100 south. The guy at the counter fixed it on the spot and only charged me for the new pull chord just 30 min later. My neighbor was so great full I helped him but last time I ever deal with these jerks in my own neighborhood. Do yourself a favor and pass on giving your business here. They don’t deserve it.
This business did not return my call to answer a simple service question.
Had my snowblower serviced. It started when Zi picked it up and never have been able to start it again.... tried to call and they are closed and the voicemail is impossible to use...
Very knowledgeable about the kind of products I was interested in purchasing for my home. I had only a certain amount of money to spend, but I knew I wanted to spend as much as it took to the get the best lawn mower for my money, and I know now that I made the right choice to go to Pehrsons! They clearly laid out my options and didnt push me into what they wanted to sell me but helped me to decide what was best. Much thanks!! (Now I know where I will be going back to get my future equipment :)
UPDATE: After speaking with the manager, he was very apologetic and gave us a discount. However We will not be returning unless the employees are replaced with competent, respectful staff.I work for a small tree trimming business and we were in the market for a good company to get our saws fixed, we tend to get to know our mechanics VERY well. When we brought two saws in for them to look at we explained that they may get quite a bit more business from us if we were happy. We most certainly were not. They told us they would look at it in the next week, we called back a week and a half later and they hadnt looked at it. When they finally did tell us what was wrong with it they said it would be another week to repair. We did not hear from them, so we call another week later and they still hadnt touched it since finding out what was wrong. The saw was FINALLY finished repairs 2 MONTHS after we dropped it off. When we went to pick it up, they handed us the wrong saw. We told them it wasnt ours, they insisted it was. When they finally went to check they told us they had given our saw to another customer. This was the worst repair company we have ever worked with.
Their awareness of and approach to customer service is non-existent. I called during regularly posted business hours and was not only immediately directed to their voicemail (3 calls - same thing) but their VM inbox was full so it wont accept any messages either. With a full voicemail box its obvious that they dont care about listening to their messages in a timely manner or even getting your call. STAY AWAY!!!
Like one of the other reviewers, I had second thoughts about taking my mower here as many of the reviews were bad for this place. However, I trusted my brother-in-law who takes all of their equipment here for repair. I had a wonderful experience at Pehrsens. Vern not only took my lawn mower out of the back of my Pilot for me, and put it back again afterward, but, when he learned that I could not leave the mower with him, he quickly did what he could and gave me instructions on how to do the rest myself. The air-filter cover on my mower was bent and no longer sealed, so he quietly took it into the back room and molded it back into shape. He did not charge me for this, Oh, just one of the tricks of the trade, he said. He sharpened my mower while I waited -- somewhere between 5-10 minutes. Total bill, for the sharpening only, was under $10.00. I was surprised and delighted. I want to definitely give Pehrsons my business after this.
I took a Tecumseh carburetor in for cleaning due to a surging problem with my snowblower. The technician performed an ultrasonic cleaning on the carburetor which eventually solved the surging problem. I noted several problems with the service though. First, the cleaning solution used in the ultrasonic stripped the cadmium plating on all the steel parts of the carburetor. Second, the intake gasket which was attached to the carburetor apparently was removed at some point during the cleaning process and I was not advised that it was missing when the carburetor was returned to me. I had to make one after I got home and went to reinstall the carburetor. Third, after installing the carburetor, the float valve would not shut off and I had to remove the bowl and clean the needle valve to get it to shut off. I called the shop to give them my feedback and they responded that they would keep that in mind for future reference with all that I suggested.
After reading so many bad reviews I was worried about taking my tiller in for repair. I have had them fix it twice and both times it was sooner than expected and they did amazing work at a fair price. I would always recommend this place to a friend! Sad to hear their moving.
I sharpened my chainsaw.
Friendly, competent and set realistic expectations. Kept me posted, completed repair on time and as agreed and gave me a deal on delivering it (Im close to them, though). No complaints, quite pleased.
Took my mower in at the end of the year to fix a broken wheel. After a few weeks, I called to find out what was up (they hadnt called). They hadnt fixed it yet and still had to order a part, but theyd let me know. I never got a call back. Winter came and I forgot they had my mower, but as spring approached, I called to find out what was up. They couldnt find the mower. They didnt even have a record of it in their system. No idea what happened to it. Its gone. Whats worse, Ive had to call 6 different times to find this out. They promised to solve the problem and get back to me. Theyve never called in spite of their promises. They make promises and dont follow through. Im still waiting for them to call me back... If you value service, look somewhere else.
There customer service is poor at best but they seem to PAY GREAT attention and love to sell you a new piece of equipment. They had my mower for over 45 days no call, when I went in to pick up the mower they said the mechanic would still have to take a look at it . After a bot pf tome they informed me it would not start and said there was water in the tank and to come back in 30 minutes. I returned and the sales person told me the piston was bent. I ask how can that be then he informed me it was a value issue. They gave me back the mower with all the parts in the grass catcher, no explanation, no reason they were not going to fix it. The gentleman left me alone to put it in the car. I understand it was not one of the brands they sell and was lower end, but would of appreciated some type of explanation to help my understand their position.
Lawn Mower runs like its new and they returned it with 1/2 tank of gas. Strongly recommended them!!! You won’t be disappointed.
This place is a joke. Not sure they even know how to fix anything let alone run a business.Had my snowblower there for a tuneup. Got it back and it wouldn’t even start. Took it back, they said it would be fixed that day, 3 weeks later after calling and calling with no answer I get it back. It now starts but runs worse than ever before. Runs for about 2 minutes and dies. I paid $150 for them to make it worse and have it for nearly 2 months.
Understanding that it takes time to get the parts to the store, understanding the time frame it would take as they are a small business and them letting me know if they could fix it or not they went over everything. They were able to fix my lawnmower for me and i was very appreciative for what they do.
These guys are back open for business, the manager Chuck was very helpful.
It is now under new ownership. Give them a chance if you need your machine taken care of and they will take care of you.
Being a single woman and a new homeowner I knew nothing about how to get a lawn mower going or the maintenance lawn equipment needs. Growing up I only help my mom out in our garden but never took the time to appreciate the care a healthy green lawn needs. So when a friend of mine cancelled to go with me to purchase my lawn equipment I was nervous Id get into Pehrsons and get taken advantage of. Fortunately the service I received was awesome. The salesman knew what he was talking about and also made the conversation easy to understand. By the time I left I wasnt as intimidated to go home and get my yard in shape. I now take pride in how well my yard has turned around. I know Ill go back later this year to purchase my first snow blower!
I had problems with my mowers auto-drive. I tore it apart and began to convert it to a push mower, then decided that I dont have the time; Im going to pay someone to do it. I took it down to Pehrsons and having not been there before, upon leaving, I felt good about the decision. They had it for 5 days or and called me to come pick it up. We loaded it in the car and I drove home. I was very pleased, until I unloaded it and realized the problem WAS NOT FIXED! It is very tough to find businesses that deserve business. So, I tore it apart again and fixed it myself in about an hour, which I should have done from the very beginning.
Good folks. Expect a long turn around. Doing their best. Nick was very nice.
Horrible experience. Their service is terrible and their prices for servicing nearly new products purchased at their store are outrageous. Avoid this store.
Use this vendor at your own risk. I took my lawn tractor in for blade sharpening and winterizing awhile ago. They kept it several months (their backlog...). When they called me to pick it up, the air filter had been replaced by an incorrect part so the cover wouldnt latch closed. Then they told me the battery was cracked and had to be replaced (probably froze because they stored it outside in sub freezing temps). But the real kicker came when the engine died a few weeks ago. Took it to the mfr/dealer this time. They told me that the head had been removed and instead of replacing the gasket, someone had tried to seal it with silicone! Can we spell INCOMPETENCE? $250 later, I have a running lawn mower again. Will never go to Pehrson s again.
Awful!! Worst experience ever. I will NEVER come back again. I dont even know how they stay in business. They have to order parts and then when you call 3 weeks later for an update they say the parts havent arrived. If you want your machine back before the end of the season do yourself a favor and go to another shop. The positive reviews on here are probably from friends/family of the owner. Consider yourself warned - go somewhere else!
I called Pehrsons this past winter for repair work on my snow blower, the owner worked around my busy work schedule and picked it up for service at no additional cost. Not only did they pick up my snow blower the next day but also called me to explain what needed to be done to the machine to get it running again and what the cost would be before beginning the work. I had my snow blower delivered back to me, running great, before the first winter storm hit. I recently returned to the store to purchase a trimmer and other lawn and garden equipment and have been nothing but impressed at the customer service they provide. Since then I have referred many of my friends and family to Pehrsons that have received the same great customer experience.
Dropped off rider mower in April needed a new part and tune up. Called in May (the only time they ever answered the phone, after multiple called a day. Every work day). Said part was orders would be in shortly. 4 months later I had to drive down to shop to talk to someone. He looked up the account, went in the back room. He came out with wrong part (thinking Im a idiot). Said its in and he will install. I told him its the wrong part, he looked it up and said its on its way !!! I told him I wanted my machine, best part is, the part he said was being delivered, was WRONG part again.. I would Lunt ever use this company ( I use that term in the loses sense). Horrible horrible place
Fast, friendly service. They were able to repair my snowblower in one day.
Convenient and Friendly but not Dependable. They sold me the wrong part then promised to make it good but never ordered the part. Another time they ordered parts for me but never got them in. Six months later I got a phone message from them saying they ordered in a part for me and now they are stuck with it and I should pay them $50+ for the part. I dont know how they can stay in business.
Dont go there. I took my tiller in twice-still doesnt work. They didnt even remember they had it. Kept telling me it would be ready the next day. But then couldnt find it again. They finally found it, said it was fixed. I dont think they even looked at the second time.
THOSE SEEKING A TUNE-UP OR REPAIR, BEWARE:Took my Stihl weed-whacker for a tune up, was told that it would take 2 weeks. 4 weeks later with no responses, I went in to see what was going on. Turns out They were waiting for a part that they ordered on EBAY...... I immediately asked for my machine back and took it to a different shop, the new shop said it would take 4 days.Even when picking up my machine, the employee sent to go look for it never came back, prompting the desk clerk to go searching after 5 minutes with NO ONE else in the store.. I hear them yelling:Did you find that repair yet?No, I couldnt find it.He never came to the front of the store to tell us that...Atrocious customer service. No follow up calls regarding machine.
I was very impressed with the customer service I received. They were very prompt and answered all of my questions. I will definitely be coming here again.
Despite all of the negative reviews I read, I thought I would get reasonable service. I was wrong. This company has no clue about customer service. Nobody answers the phone. I called on several different days and different hours on those days and I repeatedly called the number. Nobody answers the phone. A message comes on tells you that you cannot leave a message. I had to always drive to the store to get information. The staff told me they would order the part, but 10 days later they could not tell me when it would arrive. When I finally pressed them, they told me it would take 45 days! When I decided to go and pick up my riding mower (I have a trailer), they wanted me to pay for the part, claiming that they had ordered it and I would have to pay for it!!! I objected but did offer to pay, so long as they could tell me the contact information for the company to which they are obligated for payment of the part. At that point, the store let me drive my mower away. I will never never never return to this store.
Ordered a replacement wheel for my snowblower from these guys, one month later and the component still isn’t here. Nothing quite as fun as shoveling snow all winter while your snowblower sits idly by.
Horrible. Delivered trimmer to them to fix carborator, which they said would be done in 1 week. One week later they couldn’t find my trimmer. Then 2 weeks later they found it, and said it wasn’t worth their time to fix. Thanks a lot for a complete waste of my time.
I use Pehrsons for all my small engine work - the pricing is really great and the customer service is fantastic. They are always willing to step up to provide me with everything I need.
Bought Stihl blower and trimmer 2 years ago. At the salesmans recommendation on reliability and quality, paid more than I would have otherwise. Nothing but problems. Now, Im finding out the Pehrsons service department is either understaffed or incompetent. Spent over an hour in the shop waiting for the mechanic to take a quick look and ended up having to leave it. Owner, Brady, promised to get to it himself afterhours, and that Id hear back in a couple days. No call 5 days later, and mechanic and owner were both gone in the middle of the day and wouldnt be back. Now heading into a holiday weekend and looking at 3 weeks without yard tool. I wont buy from them again.
Took my snowblower in a couple of years ago. Just needed the carb cleaned they thought. Weeks went by.. I finally called. Said they would get on it. Another two weeks went by, I called said they would get right into it. They called back a week later and said I needed a new carb, I asked how much and I said please just put a new one in. Shoveling every other day. They called a week later and said I needed a new engine. A 3 year old blower and 2 weak snow years and they said I needed everything new. I just left it there because the snow year was over and I didnt want to get charged for whatever they thought they did. I will NEVER even consider this business again. Go anywhere but here. BEWARE!!!
Took in my blower and was told two weeks and took one month. I paid $119.00 and took it home and one pull and the cord broke. I took it back and the man behind the counter was defensive and told me Of course its gonna cost you, things arent free. When I explained (frustrated by this point) that I just paid 119 for an overhaul service he again flippantly said it aint free. Four trips, $119.00, defensive counter man, and a blower that still doesnt work. First and last time for me.
I cant stress strongly enough how much you should stay away from Perhsons.I used to take equipment to them all the time - mower blades for sharpening, mowers and snowblowers for maintenance and repair. Never had an issue with them. Cut to 2016 and I dont know what happened but all I got from them was three months of lies.I took a snowblower in to have a muffler bolt removed and replaced. I went in the second week in March - end of the snowy season but before the summer season kicked off. Pehrsons told me the work would be done in a couple of weeks (lie #1). I was a little concerned when I went in that three guys were there having shouting matches with two of the staff about the fact theyd had to wait for four months and no work had been done on their mowers. But I figured that might just be someone with an ax to grind as Id never had any issues.Well - two weeks came and went. After a month I called and they said theyd not even started it because of all the mower work. I pointed out that I bought the snowblower in BEFORE mower season specifically so they could get it done. Apparently this is not how they work. They do not do work in the order its received. They do it (it seems) by who screams the loudest. Worth noting : youre lucky to EVER get anyone on the phone as their mailbox is full and they barely ever answer the phone in person. Im beginning to understand why. After two months I went in in person - no - still not done any work on it despite the peak mower rush having died off. They told me theyd start on it on the following monday. Its worth pointing out that you can see over the fence to their holding pen and at this point there were four mowers and eight snow blowers there waiting for service. Not exactly busy. Two weeks later I went in again - I was told theyd stripped it down and had extracted the old bolt and were waiting for parts. (lie #2)A week after that I went in - still waiting for the part. For a muffler bolt? Really?Another week later I went in again - still waiting for the part. At this point Im told its on back-order (lie #3).At the three month mark I ordered the replacement parts online and they arrived the next day. So much for back order and hard to get hold of.After three months and a week, I went in and just asked for the snowblower to be returned to me as Id do the work myself. When they brought it out, they hadnt even taken the cowl off, let alone touched the muffler, muffler bolt or engine in any way. They did have the common decency to refund my deposit, which is something I suppose. They lied about when theyd start the work, they lied about the work theyd done (when theyd not done a thing) and they lied about the availability of parts.Pehrsons are a locally-owned company and if they continue this new-found level of service theyll be out of business pretty soon. Just stay away from these guys. Its not worth your time and hassle.
Nice local small engine repair shop. Very friendly folks.
I recently brought a Stihl weedwacker in for a routine tune-up. It took a week or so turn around for the job to be completed. Unfortunately, after I picked it up it was not maintaining an idle. I discovered this in the parking lot before I left and asked the guy at the service counter about my concern. He proceeded to adjust the idle (incorrectly) and told me it was probably just due to the engine being cold. There were no skilled technicians there at the time so he told me to take it home and try it out and bring it back tomorrow if I was unhappy and he would have a tech take a look.Well it performed terribly so I returned the next day to drop it off. I heard nothing that afternoon so when I called to inquire about its status they told me they wouldnt get to it until a week or so later. I explained to the guy on the phone how unacceptable the situation was. At this point I had given up on the whole experience and returned the next day to collect my weedwacker and try again somewhere else. To my surprise, they had gotten it tuned properly by a skilled technician and it ran just like a stihl unit should, despite it being cold. They did finally get the work done right but not until I had made four trips to the store. With the exception of the youngest counter person there, I was never shown any respect as a customer, never called or updated with the status of the service after they got it wrong and flatly lied to by the elderly gentleman I dealt with in the first place.Save yourself some hassle, time and money. Go somewhere else. I have had better customer service at the DMV. Honda and Stihl should reassess their association with this lack of a business.
Take it somewhere else!!! Horrible service! No communication and liars.
They sell the top brands, and service it all ...
New owners...Worse customer service ever! 4 weeks of no communication on a job that they said would be a week. Reason was part was on backorder...I ordered it from Amazon the day I picked it up and had it in 2 days and fixed it myself! They blamed everyone but themselves.
Couldnt be more pleased with the service I received on my mower. Highly recommended!
These guys suck have my saw for a year say they cant get parts from still home depot I go so sorry fu.................. .............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................you guys.........................................negative brady
Weve been waiting for our lawn mower to be fixed for 3 weeks and so we called. Those jerks lost our paperwork so the mower hasnt been touched. Very unprofessional workers.
Prices on service seen kinda high
I had my mower blade sharpened and was in and out in less than 5 minutes!
This company is under new ownership and things are not the same. I will never go back.
This place has no customer service, make promises they cannot keep. Lost paperwork. This place is a mess, no wonder no cars are ever in the parking lot. I won’t be going back.
Wont answer their phone...... Worst customer service.
It takes too long and when you call to see if its ready youre told their mail box is full. Will never use them again.
Great service from experts
Kind of pricey
