I have had the wonderful opportunity to work with Scott and hes been very responsive and professional in helping me. I had some personal hard drive fail with valuable family pictures and videos and as you can imagine the concern with sending off the only copies on a hard drive takes a good bit of trust. After a quick call with Scott I was comfortable with it. They were able to recovery the data and I should receive my recovered files today. Ill update this review if for some reason the drive doesnt make it and there are problems.

I was hesitant to send my HDD to anyone. After research, I called SDR and spoke with Scott, who answered my questions and concerns professionally and thoughtfully. During the process, Scott answered questions timely and with enough detailed information. Although, the contents of my HDD were unrecoverable, I am posting to the great customer service that I felt I received and if I am in this position again, I won’t hesitate to reach back out to Secure Data Recovery.

Due to Secure Data messing up our address and them being generally unresponsive and apathetic, we have been waiting for nearly a month for our hard drive (on top of the two and half weeks that it took the drop off location to actually send the hard drive because they kept “forgetting”) to be sent back to us while it sits in a warehouse waiting for Secure Data to fix their error. Secure Data keeps saying that “the ball is in FedEx’s court to fix the address” but that is simply NOT true. According to FedEx, Secure Data has their account locked so that only they can make changes to shipping addresses. Secure Data’s lack of clear communication and unprofessional service has caused our business and therefore our customers time and money. It’s very off putting to just be told over and over again “I’ll have someone look into it” and then never hear any updates unless you’re the one to reach out and beg for one. Eric was the account manager and during the email exchange asked for a 5 star review so that he could win a competition and “treat his wife and kids to a nice dinner”. That came across as very slimy salesman-y. You have to earn a 5 star review and Secure Data has not earned it. After calling FedEx and explaining the situation, we **may** be able to pick up the hard drive from one of their ground locations. Hopefully that is the case since Secure Data has proven themselves incapable of solving a simple shipping issue and has drug it out for nearly a month. I will never be taking my business here again and I will be telling everyone I know who is in need of data recovery to find a more capable company.

My wife’s computer broke down and we were devastated at the loss of our family photos from our first years together and as a family. Scott Mc helped us out and treated us like the best of family friends. My moms hard drive failed and it had her personal history on it. I called secure data and they were really friendly and said it would be around $400. I dropped it off in Murray and found out they mail it off.Anyway, then I got the recovery quotes and they started at $1699 and went up from there. We were super sad cuz we cant do it. They came back with a lower offer but we dont have that kind of money. And of course $29 if you want your drive back.

My external hard drive failed with my entire life on it. I desperately found a few data recovery companies, and Chris from Secure Data called me back first. I was able to drop it off at a partner location who mailed it in for me. Chris kept me pretty up to date throughout the process. My only complaint is that the website claims you will get a free diagnostic of what’s gone wrong, however I did have to pay $65 for that. It was a super expensive process. They gave me an in-depth breakdown of the recovered files and what the diagnostic said (however, without being there, I can’t verify if there was physical internal damage or if they were pulling my leg for an up-charge). I loved that they actually called you to tell you about the process! The price of it hurt me a lot, but it’s a lesson learned, and I look forward to my future of external drive paranoia with my files intact!!!

I tried this company even though I was skeptical, big mistake. This company has a front office, but does not actually do any business in Utah. They advertise a free diagnostic and guarantee that there is a no data, no recovery fee on their website. The range of pricing for a single laptop drive recovery was between $399 - $2000. They would not give me any idea of a smaller range even after I explained the symptoms (I expect they could probably guess my problem - I could). So feeling I had nothing to loose I dropped off my drive. We got the estimate back in one day which I was impressed with. However the estimate was almost $1900. When I contacted them to get the drive returned they told me that there is a $25 fee to return the drive. They told me it is all over their website (I went back and checked and I couldnt find it anywhere) and that it was in the contract I signed (when I signed the document I was told it was just to indicate I had dropped off my device -I guess I should have read it better). Since I do not have a copy I cant say it was their or not. The dishonesty in disclosing fees makes me not want to do any business with them. Everything else went ok, but I just refuse to do business with dishonest companies.Edit:I received a call from the Quality Assurance team the day after I left this review. They have been more than helpful to get my issue resolved. They indicated that it is company policy to disclose the shipping charges in the event that no service is performed, but I was not made aware. They told me that their representative would receive training. Also they did provide me a copy of my contract and it does say If the Client elects not to proceed with the data recovery process... the client will be responsible for all return shipping, handling costs. Nevertheless they refunded my money. Overall, after my complaint, the service has been very professional. I am boosting my review due to the service.

Secure Data Recovery was so very reassuring. I had some qualms about dropping my hard drives off and shipping them elsewhere to be diagnosed and fixed, but Jeremy was absolutely fantastic to work with. He was both friendly and professional, which put me at ease. He also responded very quickly to my e-mails and phone calls, and was never bothered by my questions. Wish I could leave the stars at a ZERO!!! Rob Anderson at Secure Data Recovery gave me a guesstimate to retrieve the information off my DOA external hard drive. After they shipped it to their lab (NOT a local business as they portray themselves), that quote doubled to $4,000.00! Plus Rob told me, We probably wont be able to get anything off anyway, because it is so badly damaged. But, well try (implied--if youre willing to pay for it!). Seems to me, if youre in this business and your best guess doubles--that reeks of dishonesty: NO THANK YOU! Good thing a friend told me about another place in Logan, UT (yes, it IS a local business. . .they dont ship out to a lab because their clean room is in their office--Utah Data Recovery, just in case youre wondering :-). They are currently working on my drive and actually getting information off. Moral of the story: Yes, I will have to pay a chunk of change to get the last 15 years of my digital life back, but the price tag is about half what these guys tried to charge me. The Representative Chris McMacken was very helpful. He explained what the process was going to be and was quick to all or update status when information was needed and status changed. Although they were not able to recover everything. They were able to recover about 95%. I would definitely use their service if I ever have a problem again.

From the initial estimate request to the recovered drive delivery, service with Secure Data has been great! With a busy workload, I appreciated the efficient email communications regarding the project.

I had two SD cards crash due to corrupt data. I tried a few recovery programs before I contacted Secure Data Recovery. I was able to find the files on one card but wasnt able to open them and couldnt even find the files on the second card. Jeremy was able to send me thumbnails of the files recovered on both cards so I could ensure that the files I needed were in fact recovered. He was always quick to get back to me by email and was patient as I asked a million questions. From the time I sent the cards to the time I got the recovered files back was only 2.5 weeks.

I had a stuck motor on an external hard drive that had all the pictures of one of my children. I was beside myself with sadness and regret. I asked several IT friends to see if they could fix it but to no avail. It had to be fixed in a clean room. After much research I chose Secure Data Recovery. My HD was mailed to them since their offices are located in another state - I was worried about that, but I shouldnt have been because it all worked out just fine. They were able to recover 99.99% of my data!!! They were very professional and prompt. The only reason I gave 4 stars was because of the cost. It costs a lot of money to recover a HD, you just have to decide if its worth the money and in my case the pictures recovered are priceless - so it was. I just hate that I was even in the position to have to use them but I am grateful I did. Frederick was great to work with. I would recommend them to anyone who needs data recovered.

EDIT: The company contacted me and did a good job fixing the issues, and addressing my concerns. I still stand by my claims that fees werent made clear upfront, but I appreciate they tried to remedy the issue. They were also able to return my missing phone box.The company doesnt know what they are doing and takes every chance to charge you fees. First, Im telling them what phone I have. The brand is OnePlus an android phone maker. Secure data responded is that a Samsung?. NO! its a OnePlus. That should have been my first sign they didnt know what they were doing when they think every android phone is a Samsung.After they had my phone for 2 weeks they call and leave a voicemail saying android security prevents them from imaging the disk and recovering the deleted files. Shouldnt a data specialist already know android security is going to prevent their method of recovery.Finally, after they couldnt recover anything they charged $25 to have the phone returned and didnt even send the phone back in its original box. So now Ive lost photos, $75, and the original phone box. They did state there wouldnt be a diagnostic fee because they couldnt recover the photos. So what was the $50 diagnostic fee you already charged me? will that be refunded? Nope! I asked repeatedly to refund it since their own email said there was no diagnostics fee, but they refused. They hold the phone hostage saying they will throw it away in 14 days if you dont pay the $25 to have it returned, This fee is not mentioned until after they already have the device held hostage. Terrible company, holds your device hostage for a crazy return fee, and dont know anything about the phones they claim to be able to recover data from.

I purchased a WD 3T external hard drive and the internal components failed. I lost all of my family pictures, including those of my deceased 19 yo daughter, and a decade of purchased craft files. I was completely devastated! Im bedridden, flying across the country for medical care, and am disabled all due to a greedy surgeon who permanently damaged my bodies nervous system. We are constantly fighting for my life and that uses our financial resources. WD was incredibly difficult and only agreed to replace the product if they could have the device, which was needed to remove the data. I thought it was finally taken care of and for reasons I cant understand it didnt happen! I was in tears as it took several months for us to try to come up with money to get it back. My daughters Angel-versary just passed a few weeks ago and we didnt have her pictures. I crumbled that weekend, even missing my sons birthday events, which is when she died. My body crashes to regenerate energy and I sleep until it can sustain extra work to have me awake. Chris has listened, worked hard for me when I just couldnt deal and was in tears. I face another organ removal surgery soon. Chris checked in with me to let me know he was working on things, and surprised me with being able to have a device to send my precious photos and work, that has given me hope. I dont know anyone who would care about life behind the problem, but Chris MacMaken did. My goal before medical things take me, is to put together a memory book of my daughter so she isnt forgotten. Im overwhelmed with PTSD and grief and its going to lead to my healing. Thank you so very much for being more than just a system crash recovery service!

Once they were able to recover and transfer my files onto an external hard drive, they shipped it to me they very next business day. It came back with the cover off and pieces of the plastic case now wont go back together.My advise, even if someone decides not to use your services, dont mail them back their hard drive with it not being put back together. Through my own fault, I only had one copy of some data that was valuable to me. Naturally, my hard drive crashed hard, with read-head failures. I worked with Alec Sakenes at SDRS.
