It was fine. it was a cheap cargo van rental. had to drive from SF to get this vehicle type after the Ellis St SF location failed to have our vehicle available, though the reservation was made the months in advance.the van we rented was dirty, but didnt get a hassle returning it in the same condition.the people were nice and provided helpful advice about paying tolls.

I had to get a long term rental while my car was getting warranty work done. They seemed friendly at first but the only vehicle they had available had some damage and they told me I could exchange it after the weekend. The first replacement vehicle was nice but had some transmission issues so I brought it back to exchange it again. The next vehicle had a slow leak in the left rear tire and when I returned it I noticed they had marked it as full tank of gas but it only had 3/4ths tank when I picked it up (lesson learned, check before leaving) and they refused to acknowledge the discrepancy.The last vehicle I got, again had less gas then they had marked but the staff member refused to acknowledge it was off and I didnt have time to argue because I was going to be late to take my mother to her radiation treatment. At this point I called their customer service line to see if I could return it to another location because I am being taken advantage of. The CS told me I could but I would incur a surcharge for changing location and that my rental rate could change. Each vehicle I got after the first was a downgrade from the previous in terms of features which felt like they were punishing me for pointing out issues in their product. Overall this experience has taught me not to go to Hertz ever again and I would give 0 stars if I could...

I walked from the train station to this place and when I get here, no one at the front desk, when i finally get someone to help me, he said they tried calling me to let me know they were fully booked. I didnt get a phone call at all this morning so I ask him what time did you call? And he said ill double check, after looking me up, he said they dont have my phone number on record. So he lied and wasted my time.

If i could give 0 i would, came in to pick up reserved car for noon on Saturday, ran in to not having the original card that i already PAID with, so they litteraly closed the doors and left as i was changing cards on the phone with their customer service. Never coming back here again!!!

Disappointed with my most recent experience at this location. I locked in a contract (reservation) for a Midsize for seven days, but at pickup they didnt have a Midsize available; they said the one they had planned for me had just come in from a previous renter but it needed an oil change and new brakes. Desk Guy offered me two alternatives: downgrade to a Chevy Spark (compact) at the same price, or upgrade to a BMW Something at extra cost. I said, I dont need the BMW, and I dont want to pay more. My contract is for a Midsize. If I accept the Spark downgrade, I should get a price reduction. Desk Guy said no, youre already getting a good price. True, I had a special price but a contract is a contract. I asked if they had a Midsize at another location. I said was willing to wait. Nope, zero inventory (he said). He could have offset the difference with a free tank of gas (nine gallons in the Spark). Nope. I was in a no-win situation; I couldnt realistically refuse his alternatives as it was a nonrefundable contract. So I took the downgrade. It felt like extortion. Will think twice about renting again from this location, or from Hertz.

Really nice staff no waiting for someone to help you. Its in a bit of a tight area being on 16th and Kst. Downtown Sacramento but its not to bad just ask them where you should park for the time being. Oh but make sure you have someone to drive your car home when you get the rental. Im not sure about anyone else but Im not leaving my care Downtown in that area....but thats just me.

Guys here were professional and quick as I was just exchanging a body shop repair rental. Insurance adjuster tried to give me a smaller car. The car was being cleaned and was rushed plus was still wet with spots when I recieved, also it has really dirty windows inside. Just didnt smell or feel clean inside.

If I could give zero stars, then thats what my rating for them would be. They never honor your reservation; neither the time nor the type of vehicle you request. They always have a take it or leave it attitude toward the customer. When we pointed out a nice replacement vehicle, they said we couldnt have it because it was NOT REGISTERED. Their vehicles are horrendous. Half of the vehicles they try to give us smell like Marijuana. In the van they did give us, the engine was constantly revving high on the freeway while my foot was on the brake pedal. One of the taillights was out. The steering was wobbly. Smelly vehicles are one thing, but majority of the issues threaten the lives of the renters and everyone around them. Thats irresponsible and extremely careless. Im very disappointed.

I usually rent from enterprise, but Hertz was closest to me and I was in a hurry so I went with them & Im glad I did. Their customer service was great.They sanitized my car right before I got in it. I needed to extend the rental and that was really easy as well.

The worse car rental company I’ve ever been to. Made a reservation online, walked in and was rudely told they had no cars available. I was with a child and it was pouring rain. They offered no resolution and just brushed me off. The manager came out and I could just tell how unhappy this woman is and how bad she is at her job. She was rude and also told me there was nothing they could do about it. I asked them why they hadn’t called to let me know they didn’t have cars and they said “we were busy”. Literally no on in this office. Terrible service overall.

I kind of wish I wouldve been warned about what will be charged with the liability insurance. I didnt think there will be a damage waiver and premium roadside service thatll be charge with the liability insurance. I sure as hell didnt need the premium roadside service thats why I have triple A. I thought I only signed up for Liability insurance and fuel purchase but unfortunately liability insurance came with some unnecessary charges I didnt expect. Please stop surprising customers with charges we dont know about. Were all not rich and were all on a budget. Stop ruining people financially.

Im very disappointed at this location we been renting from hertz over 15 yrs been Gold Member we are so done we went to the fulton location they did not have none of cars we wanted so I ask the General manger do downtown have any cars like impala or Camry he call down there they said yes they did we get there and that was a lie he put us in a dirty maxima car had white spots on seats they are unprofessional and Jose you need get this location together and clean all your cars and not rent customers dirty cars this location use to be good and had good professionals staff what happen hertz just lost 2 customers get it together hire a new staff with Good Customer service and clean your cars inside and out jose step your game all way up or get replace this location are terrible and need to be investigated

I made a reservation for 2 days, Friday to Sunday, online. When I arrived on Friday, I was informed they are closed Sunday and I would have to rent the car for 4 days (closed Memorial Day too). I asked why I was able to get a return date online if theyre closed (the website says open 9-12 Sunday). I was told, oh they need to fix that. So now instead of $145, Im paying $329 (plus $200 deposit) for a car I dont need! After I return on Tuesday, I am making a complaint and expect a credit. Thats false advertising and maybe even extortion. This is not the first time Ive had problems with Hertz. Dont ever use their pay now option, it is not refundable if you have to cancel. Also, their call center is in some foreign country, so you cant understand a word theyre saying. I will never use Hertz again.

Great service. The branch owner, Chris, is very kind and down to earth. Last Saturday during a busy Presidents day weekend, he was backed up and I ended up waiting thirty plus minutes to pick up my rental car. Despite having a extremely busy day with minimal staff, Chris courteously gave us some extra time to return our car after the weekend. Overall I recommend this car rental branch.Do note, the rental agency is open with limited hours on Sat and Sundays (closes at 12pm)

Paid for Lyft to drop me off for my “reserved” Car.. Not only was my RESERVED car NOT available, I was charged $444.00! I show up on time, No cars available and you charge me?! Here we are two days later and the charge is still there. I’m out money on the Lyft. You hijacked my credit card with a bogus charge. My trip is ruined. Can’t rent a car until you release my money. No accommodations. No offer of a discount. No credit of any kind. No apology. Ridiculous! Worst rental company ever!

None of the cars are clean and the lot is so disorganized and full that after you wait 20 or more minutes to get your contract you’ve got 30 plus minutes to wait while they shuffle cars around to get your car out of the lot to go clean it and bring it out for you. I got a flat 10 blocks from the lot and I had to use their roadside service to take me and the car to the airport to exchange the car. This location couldn’t help. I waited 2 hours for the tow and they hadn’t shown so I had to change the fat myself and then drive to the airport on the donut to exchange the car! 🤬😡. Worst experience ever!

Typical rental company, and on the ground, Hertz midtown is fine. However, Hertz customer service after hours, (which on the weekend is after noon) is overworked, and unfortunately powerless to help you in pretty much any way, or forward you to someone who might know what to do in a situation such as return your car at 1pm on a Saturday.

We reserved ahead of time and rented just for the day but we were told we could return it at 9am the following day for no additional charge. We returned it 30 minutes after they closed the same day we picked it up and received a charge. Ive called 2 times and no one is willing to help. Ive been referred to the 800 number and been on hold for 30 minutes.When we picked up the car the staff was all friendly. We reserved ahead of time and ended up waiting 35 minutes after the paperwork was completed inside because the car wasnt ready.

Worst service ever. Was scheduled a day before for 10am on friday at the arden location and then I arrive and it was closed called and was told to come to this location and i still ended up right were i started with nothing. No rental because they refused my drivers license and the dmv is closed so thats not gunna happen my car will be out of the shop by the time I receive a copy really unfortunate because now Im going to have to bring it up with the insurance company. Uber is getting expensive and Im sure they are not going to reimburse me for it.

I normally rent from Enterprise down the street, but had to rent through this location because it was through my insurance. Took them 30 minutes to get to my reservation, and it took another 30 minutes to clean the car. I asked them not to clean it but they said they had to clean the car. The people checking people out are nice, it just seems that the behind the scenes process is way too slow. Will not be renting from this location again. Man, I miss Enterprise!!!!

Needed a rental card right away. We first stopped at Enterprise where they treated us like we were not worthy enough to rent a car from their establishment. So I do what I usually do when I am treated badly I took my business elsewhere. Walked about a block and was at Hertz where the whole process was painless, the customer service was great and the car suited all of my needs. I kept the car for two weeks and the rental extension process was easy peasey.

My confirmation call was left on hold for quite a while on Sunday. However, ALL IS WELL! We received a prompt pickup at our hotel early on Monday morning. As is probably the case with many locations, prior renters had not returned their vehicle as scheduled and our reserved vehicle was not immediately available. After a very brief delay, another vehicle did arrive and we were quickly on our way. The staff was very busy but handled our reservation with professionalism and courtesy.

This review is more for Chris Duran than anything else. He is the manager at this location. On Sunday 04/01, he had two employees call out sick and he was alone at the registers. Chris did an amazing job of controlling the flow of customers. No one had excessive wait times given the circumstances. He also made sure to provide excellent customer service and he didnt miss a single phone call. It was pretty cool to see someone in their element and so good at what they do. We left very impressed. He is definitely a great asset for Hertz.

Very good customer service. They will pick you up... just as the other cimpany, Enterprise car rental, advertises. Careful going over your week on a weekly rental--charged over $50 for the extra day on my debit VISA card. Also, it is well worth refilling the gas in any Hertz car rental back to its checkout amount, versus paying $9.99 per gallon they would estimate and charge you upon return. Would be 5 stars if not for the high prices.

Hertz was amazing!! My car was totaled and the 3rd partys insurance paid for me a rental. The reservation was at enterprise who gave me the worst experience ever!!! So I go into Hertz, and Christine went above and beyond for me to make sure I got a car today!! She talked to multiple people from the insurance company, sat on hold, dealt with corporate and was very kind and understanding of my stress and situation. In fact everyone there was very kind. The customer service was very appreciated. I highly recommend Hertz for your rental car needs. Thank you Hertz on 16th for taking some of my stress away :)

I travel a lot for work and after trying out a few other rental car places in Midtown with terrible experiences, have had nothing but great experiences at Hertz. All the employees have been great, especially Alonzo who goes above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service. They are very busy and all do what they can to minimize the wait. If there is an issue with the car, they attend to it quickly.

Friendly staff on site....my problem is with the online booking. The last 3 times Ive used hertz, I book a car and its never available when I go to pick it up. Last rental was given to me with busted speakers, and a terribly bad alignment. This rental says maintenance required, and it shakes badly when braking.

Longtime satisfied customer with Hertz off and on for 45+ years. Mostly use local branch for rentals booked online. Great service in spite of sometimes inadequate staffing and available cars on weekend reservations. Seldom able to have branch pick me up or drop me off. Having to use Lyft negates any rate discounts which are important to our nonprofit charitys work. When rates are lower I use Hertz the most. Best bang for the buck matters a lot to our organizations.

The employees at this location hardly answer the phone, if you get someone on the line they will usually ask you to hold. After holding for a few more minutes, they told me they had no cars available and that they would take my name and number and call me when cars became available. Ive yet to receive a call and called them several more times. Enterprise up the street has been much easier to deal with and actually has cars available.

Awful experience at the Sacremento International Airport location. I was told that the reservation was made for the downtown location which closes in less than 5 min of our arrival and that we would just have to come back tomorrow. After several hours on the phone we were able to cancel the original reservation and create a new one for this location at over 3x the original price. They had me between a rock and a hard place so I took the screwing... then proceeded to get car which was very dirty and has several dents and scratches on it. I assume one I return it, they will attempt to go after me for another 3x to 4x the original price. I will never use them again. Thus is the 2nd time they screwed up the reservation... never again!!!

I arrived to pick up the car I had reserved several days earlier and they did not have a car for me. After waiting 10 minutes they said they had another car down the road they could pick up if I would be willing to wait another 15 minutes. 20 minutes later they return to say that the car down the road was not one they could rent me. When I finally received a car, after waiting approximately an hour, it was clean and and in great condition for my use. I am unsure if I will use Hertz again based on this experience. Make sure you have a boatload of time to wait!

It was a jiffy renting car from Hertz. We used to avoid them due to Entreprise Rental, where they pick-up clients. Now, it was completely different. They will pick you up through Lyft and complete the deal in a few minutes. Entreprise loses the smile and become rude, but still has the rental that picks you up with a smirk. Kudos to Hertz for this new set up. And, you can return the rented car on any Hertz location except the airport. It feels good to deal with Hertz!!!

Excellent customer service. Vacation plan was train from Denver, rent car here and drive to Garberville and down the coast, and return the car at SFO. Greeted by a young woman (I have since lost her card, so can’t give her credit by name) who found our reservation, allowed my AAA discount even though I had left the card when I changed wallets, recorded the condition of the car, confirmed the best directions to I5, and had us on our way within a half hour. Very smooth and painless.

The worst experience dealing with a rental company. Enterprise is by far superior I have never been treated so poorly by a company who overcharged me in August as this rental was due to insurance and after numerous phone calls an several employees falsifying what had been done including the manager Blair stating a credit was submitted . Zero follow through, it is now mid November and still no credit. Terrible, poor service I will never rent with Hertz again!

When I first arrived after having a reservation at 12:30 when I arrived they said they did not have a car but a truck. I responded that I was disabled. I have a placard and I have CFS ...and I’ve had a knee replacement where I can only lift my leg a few inches up and even have to have handicap hotel rooms. The man there with the red hair responded that he was handicap too, and didn’t want to help me. But 30 min or more later when another man arrived and said he couldn’t drive a truck then they said they would go get us both a SUV. This office is sexist and does not help those who are disabled. We don’t have to be in a wheel chair. The fact that they didn’t want to help until a man walked in makes them sexist as well. I will be also letting upper management know as well as giving them a 1 star. Don’t trust this Hertz office. That is my experience.

Reserved a car due to last minute flight cancellation, do NOT fly through Allegiant Airlines. Walked right in, car was ready, clean and good to go. Drove brand new 2017 Ford. We took a trip to Las Vegas and the drive was very smooth. Customer service was good. Only thing was, we had a question about the car and called, left message and didnt receive a car back. We eventually figured out the answer to our own question.

Customer service is horrible.it deserves zero stars. very long wait times, inefficent use of staff no cars are cleaned prior to the long check out. You wait forver in a long line. No counter help at the counter. Each service rep checks in one customer, goes and finds a vehicle finishes checking that person in and then has the person take a seat while they go out and clean the vehicle and then takes pictures around the car during a walk around. 1.25 hour wait to be seen 20 min to check in then 30 min for the car to be cleaned and the walk thru. Took over 30 to return the car

My wife and I requested to be picked up at the train station in Sacramento and were greeted warmly and taken to the SLE on 16th Street. The staff were professional and quickly had us back in our car and on our way. The only draw back was the operating hours, but the staff helped us to change our return to Sacramento International Airport where we grabbed a taxi back to the train station. I feel sorry for the employees at this location. A manager and most employees go to lunch and leave 2 guys there to help a location full of people. The location completely ran out of all cars (literally not a single car of any kind available, reservation or not) while half a dozen cars sat in the lot waiting for service and could not be rented. Waited for about 45 minutes then walked to Enterprise down the street and they had me in a car in under 5 minutes.

Ive been a loyal customer of this location since moving to midtown 11 years ago. Some experiences have been less than favourable but over all I have been satisfied. However my recent experience has left me with a horrible taste in my mouth. Not only has the new staff pulled a bait & switch on me but they just tried to charge me for an extra day. I am very tempted to call the Attorney General and complain about unfair business practices. I will not be returning. No second chances. I will also inform every single customer that sits in my chair how vile this location and its employees are!
