Alamo is one of the most professional and extremely personable car rental companies we have ever worked with. The car was immaculate, new and well maintained. I highly recommend Alamo to anyone traveling.
I rented a car from the Alamo at the Sacramento Airport on September 2, 2021 at a rate of $213.93. When I returned the car on Monday afternoon, my receipt showed a charge of $540. I was told to go to the front desk to have it adjusted. When I went to the front desk, I was told that the additional charge was for a deposit that would be refunded to my credit card. There was never any refund made to my credit card. When I called Alamo, they told me my car was inaccurately shown as returned the following day and that someone from the local rental location would contact me but they had no idea when that would be. If you dont like fraudulent reporting of your return time and otherwise wasting your time to fix the inaccuracy, dont rent here. By the way - I wasnt the only person this happened to - the woman in front of me was also complaining of overcharges...
I had a great experience at the Alamo counter when I picked up the car at the Sacramento Airport. The employee was super nice not just with me, but I had observed her being nice with the prior customer she helped. Also the car I got was great as it was fully featured and run very well, plus giving good mileage. When returning the car at the San Francisco airport I was pleasantly surprised by the courtesy and good welcome received from the person who received the car from me, and also another person who may have been a manager on site. All in all a plus, plus experience. Go Alamo!!!
Same old tricks. Bait and switch. Rented a Standard truck and they tried to give us a mid size. Said the upgrade would be $200. Still wrong size truck, needed a bed not an extra cab.. Told them this. Contacted customer service on Twitter and upper management was suppose to help us when we returned the truck. Never happened. Remember, Never Alamo.

Used Alamo at Sacramento airport and must say everything went smoothly from the shuttle to and from the terminal to the pick up and drop off of the rental vehicle. I have used other rental car companies in the past and Alamo is by far my favorite!
We’ve been a long time customer with Alamo and will only trust them with our rentals. We’ve used other companies before with reservations and never had a good turn out and end up with Alamo at the end of the day each time. Every time we rent from Alamo, we always get an upgrade at the counter. Only had one issue with Alamo once but it was dealt with appropriately and efficiently as it was the previous renters issue before us renting the car.
If I could give 10 stars I would! My flight was delayed and didnt land in Sacramento until well after midnight (Alamos closing time). I was extremely stressed because my final destination was more than an hour away driving and to call for ride services would have cost me a fortune. But Alamo honored the reservation and stayed open to ensure that myself (and others) had vehicles. They even honored other car rental company reservations because those car rental companies chose to close at midnight. Thank you so much for staying late. You have no idea how it made the overall trip so much better!

Greeted by a friendly associate on arrival at desk. Check-in at desk and check-out of vehicle went quickly and smoothly. Vehicle was clean and newer model. Vehicle return could have gone a little easier if there was better signage as we had an early flight and there wasnt clear instructions on where the drop box for the keys was. Key Drop with an arrow as you pull-up would have helped save time with the return.
Caution! FYI! Beware of the Prepay gas option at the airport. I was overcharged after being suggestive sold and pressured by the desk rep. I didnt drive all my gas out but charged an additional$68 to refill. Upon calling customer service, the representative was very nice and explained why there was a misunderstanding. So if u choose the prepay, Return it empty so you wont encounter this problem.

IVE NEVER HAD A SINGLE ISSUE WITH THEM, ONLY USED ALAMO THIS TIME BECAUSE THATSWHO WAS AVAILABLE THROUGH COSTCO, BUT LESSON LEARNED, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.....First time using alamos rental service. I upgraded to a premium yukon suv for a 7 day trip to Southern CA. Long story short, I had 8 passengers in the vehicle in 100 degree weather and the air conditioning in the middle row and third row did not operate. 7 days of misery for them.....When I returned the vehicle, I asked to be reimbursed the upgrade charge only, which I thought was fair. THEY DECLINED.My request has been escalated now 3 times because Ive been offered a free 1 day rental next time which I refused.....Why would I ever use your services again when you refuse to take care of your customers when you dont provide the services they paid for???

Rented a truck from the PHX Sky Harbor airport site and without a doubt the dirtiest, poorest running vehicle I have ever rented from any car rental company. Not sure how but this vehicle had obviously not been cleaned on the inside our outside after the previous rental. If a zero rating was possible that is what would have been given.

I am using this location multiple times I reserved a Piremum SUV suburban 6 weeks before my car was not there asked me ford explorer this is second time I waited 90 minALAMO far away for customer needs and satisfaction called customer service was not helpful as well. NO MORE ALOMO

Alamo saved the day! We had a reservation at the Payless rental, which we called and asked every step, because weve had problems before, renting cars. We get there, and they refused us a car. And EVERYONE was sold out. But we went to every counter anyways, trying, and being let down.Sashie (not sure of the spelling) went above and beyond, at Alamo. We were tired, and frustrated. She saw the tears in our eyes, and she did everything she could to make sure we left with a car. And we did! She fixed another companies mistake. She deserves a raise and paid vacation!!Thank you Alamo for being compassionate, and not money hungry. You actually care about your customers. It was hassle free. We will ONLY use Alamo in the future.

Alamo is our favorite, but this time the car smelled smoky inside. Obviously someone smoked in the car. It smelled like Alamo tried to clean it, but the smoke was pretty apparent the first day. We only had the car for 2 days, so not enough time to worry about it and it was a little better the second day after we drove with the windows down the first day. We know Alamo cant control a guest smoking in their cars, but they should have aired it out more before renting it again. Alamo Service has always been good and we will use them again. The Service was fine this time also, just a problem with the smoke smell that showed up this time.
We rented a compact SUV from Alamo at the Sacramental International Airport for our trip to the Redwoods National Park. The people there are very friendly and efficient. The SUV is in general in good condition, well maintained and clean. The return process is also very quick and easy. We enjoyed our rental experience for this trip with Alamo like always. We will rent from Alamo again for our next trip.
Overall the service was good. When I spoke to Corporate I was told I would be able to use my temporary License to rent (Illinois they issue a paper License until the actual ID is mailed). When getting to the service desk they stated they could not accept this form of identification. Thank goodness I had my passport.There was no one to check me out when leaving the property... no ID check etc. and found this very odd.No form to fill out for damages... I basically took pictures due to a couple of minor dents.The back seat was not completely cleaned from the last driver. there were food particles etc on the seat. I did not notice this until arriving to my destination.. (My fault)My experience was just average at best. I have not use Alamo for a long time and now I remember why.My checkout was very pleasant and easy.Please take care of these issues especially the cleanliness of the vehicles.

I rented a Jeep Liberty SUV. This vehicle was equipped with the feature where the engine would shut off when the vehicle stops...and the engine would re-start when you step on the accelerator to go again. Unfortunately the engine in this Jeep would automatically shut off at stops but would not re-start again leaving me stranded at stop lights and intersections (I had to put vehicle in P or N, step on the brake, re-start engine to go again). This was a very dangerous situation. Alamo did exchange this vehicle for me. That said, I researched this Jeep engine non-restart issue on-line and discovered it was a known problem with the Jeep SUVs. Alamo really needs to be alert and address his significant safety issue with their Jeep SUV fleet.
I recently had a 10-day one way rental. We are not big fans of the upgrades but decided to move into an Audi Q5. The up charge was around $15 a day. The issue was this car had nearly 25k miles on it and was due for extensive service. The warning lights continuously came on during travels. Sensors, tire pressure, etc. Bings and warnings for little non-engine related issues. In this case, the car and the upgrade were certainly not worth it. Next time, we will stick with the reservation originally made. I feel like Alamo dumped a car on us to move it to a new location and called it an upgrade.
Car was dirty, and though they said the gas tank was full and to turn it in full.... it was not. I immediately took several photos of the gas gauge when I got into the vehicle. No problems when I turned it back in.
I was initially upset when I got to the Alamo counter. When I made my reservation, I had a code for a free mid-sized upgrade. It was confirmed when I made the reservation. However, the associate was trying to say it only showed a compact and that it would be +$14 to upgrade per day if I wanted the mid-sized car. After several minutes going back and forth, I found my confirmation print out and he finally conceded and went quietly to get the keys.When I went out to the lot, the attendant helped my elderly mom into the car and came to me and said when you return the car, ask for assistance with your mom. After check in well drive you and your mom directly to the terminal instead of going through the parking lot and waiting on the shuttle.That really helped us when we returned. They said they only do it if they see a need to help out travelers with elderly parents/ grandparents that need additional assistance.I wanted to give a 5 star, but was initially put off by the desk associate trying to charge me extra for a car size I already booked. Had I not been paying attention, I might have ended up with a smaller car or paid more for what I already should have gotten. Not sure what is showed on his computer, but my confirmation clearly showed a mid-sized car.All the other Alamo attendance were very attentive, personable and very helpful and the price was what I was quoted. Ill still use Alamo, but just be aware of what I reserved in case they try a push something else.
I always rent from Alamo because I know Im getting a great car at a great price. The people that work there are always nice and they explain all the parts of the contract well. On one of my trips, I went to pick up my car and a woman was going into thermal nuclear meltdown because she wanted a car that they did not have in their fleet. She was yelling and screaming at the people behind the counter and making demands that they could not meet. They explained that they had a lovely selection of more luxurious cars, but she wasnt having it. They treated her with respect and never raised their voices. I was very impressed with the manner in which they treated a terribly difficult customer and situation. I dont know how it was resolved because while they were dealing with her, they were still taking care of the rest of us that were also waiting for our cars. The people behind that counter and in the collected bay at Sacramento International Airport are professional, courteous, and friendly. I am always treated well and I am an Alamo customer for life!
Great experience renting a car at SMF Alamo. Procedure is a little clunky, but door to door service is great and their vehicles are usually some of the best you can get. My Ford F-150 King Ranch was luxurious and capable and served my family well over the course of a week. Ill be coming back again and again.

Loved the check-in and check-out process. The personal service I received was AWESOME! My flight was delayed getting in to Sacramento and I was extremely stressed about picking up my vehicle before they closed. I called them and they notified my that they would be tracking my flight and stayed open until I got there. The vehicle was new and had that great New Car smell and drove nicely. I walked out to the lot, picked my car and then drove right out. Drop off was simple and easy. Great facility and will use them again

Excellent customer service. Clean cars. Lately Ive rented from noteworthy companies, and the inside of the car needed cleaning. I also had a vehicle with low tire pressure while on the road. Alamo directed me to the nearest Alamo exchange location on my route and I was able to easily exchange the vehicle for safe travel! Superb!
Rented the car in advance from the airport. The car I got had the tire pressure light on which I did not notice until the next day. They shouldnt be renting out any car with any kind of little issue. I didnt feel safe, because if they let something like that go, who knows what else they let go. They directed me to a Enterprise which seemed confused at first. After calling Alamo customer service back, Enterprise suddenly finds the fax info they needed. They then explained that Alamo, Enterprise, and some other company were all one in the same. Okay, if that was the case, then why did they look dumbstruck when I first got there? They swap my tiny car with a giant SUV with only a quarter tank of gas that I had to pump myself and they could not reimburse me. So, TWICE I had to pay for gas because I purchased my gas for the first car. I usually use Hertz, but went a different route this time for some reason. I will, definitely, be going back to Hertz.

Homer was the person that helped us at the desk. He was quick, efficient, and extremely pleasant to deal with. Not at all pushy. He listened to what my husband and I wanted in the rental agreement and what we did not. All went EXTREMELY FAST AND SMOOTHLY.

Great guy at the counter helped me to save money when it was clear i woudnt need 4 whee drive to get to Tahoe from Sacramento. Hooked me up with an awesome Nissan Maxima which was fun to drive. Also, the parking lot attendant who recommended a place to eat down town at the river front. Great staff, great company, I will definitely use you again. With the world going to contactless (as much as possible); I was expecting my Insider status to allow me to go straight to my car. Please be aware you may have to go to the counter, especially at SMF.

Alamo/enterprise/national has won my business for life. When I arrived to return my rental car and catch my flight home the staff was absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond. They noticed that my two year old had fallen asleep in the backseat. The woman checking me in (Kim) asked if I was taking the shuttle. To which I replied “yes.” She promptly told me “don’t wake that baby up! Someone will drive you to the terminal.” A few minutes later, a gentleman came and drove us to the curbside drop off and then proceeded to help unload our baggage and make sure we were set. They didn’t have to be so kind and helpful, but they were and they have forever gained my business. I highly recommend using them for all of your rentals. Another added bonus is they are about 150x faster than Budget.
I left my cellphone in the vehicle on July 30, 2020 and went through the motions to have it returned to my home in Forney Texas. When I received the cell phone, the SIM card was missingI called the Alamo rental car service number and spoke to Charlie and I told him of an incident where when I originally called the service number I spoke with a person that offered to reimburse me for the missing SIM card fir the amount of $300.I was instructed to download a app called team viewer and submit a code and the person I spoke to and they will connect to my phone remotely and work with his lost and found team to electronically send the money through the Zelle app.After an hour of waiting on the phone, I was disconnected and never called back.., is this a normal practice?... it’s the SIM card that I need to make the phone active!
The check in process is always so quick and I usually get upgraded for no additional charge . Easy return or to extend . Rental car expense + 200 hold on a credit card .
Rented from the Alamo at SeaTac Airport in Seattle. Everyone was friendly and professional. The team did their best to provide timely service. Due to the Virus, and limited number of staff, the standard size car I had reserved was not available, so they provided an upgrade to a Camaro. It was nice of them to do that, but I never want to drive a sports car again...lol Im a truck guy. Ill ask for one next time. At 6ft, 240lbs, climbing in and out of that tiny thing was no fun. Its the thought that counts though. Thank you for your considerate efforts. Great job team Alamo!
They did a great job in Sacramento and upgraded me without charging me for the upgrade. The customer service was outstanding there. When I dropped the car off in San Francisco I was greeted with great customer service there as well!
Alamo rental at the Sacramento airport was as good as it gets. I started my reservation online, saved at least over $400 over other places, for a 5 day rental for a premium suv (expedition or similar). When I arrived, the customer specialist offered me an upgrade for slightly more and I drove away with a 2019 Lincoln Navigator, for far less money than if I reserved it. The car was great, return was a simple process as I dropped it off at an express drop off, turned my keys in and I was on my way. Alamo was wonderful!!! Would definitely use again
We got a car that REAKES of cigaret smoke. We called and have been waiting 3 hours just for a different car and called again because they told us well be in touch they havent even offered to give us a discount for all this hassle and run around. My head is spinning because of this AWFUL disgusting smell, my head hurts its soooo bad. Hopefully I don’t get sick or they’ll hear even more from me. Lesson learned, never going through Alamo again. Still waiting.... going on 4 hours of waiting

Julian at the Alamo Sacramento Airport location provided one of the best car rental experiences Ive ever received. Despite it being 15 minutes to closing time, he greeted me with a smile. He presented a variety of car options, taking time to mention unique vehicles currently on the lot that I might enjoy. When I asked about the possibility of seeing the vehicles to help make my decision, not only did he say that was possible but he took me to the lot and showed them to me himself. This enabled me to chose a great vehicle that Ill enjoy driving during my visit.It was also nice that every position at the Alamo counter was staffed, so customers were served quickly. Outstanding service all around. Definitely five stars.
I needed a 7-passenger vehicle (SUV) to ferry some out of town guests to San Francisco for the day and got exactly what I needed and at a total price approximately $80 cheaper than the nearest competitor. The rental was so nice that I actually plan to research replacing my SUV with the model I rented.The Alamo rental vehicle also came with navigation standard (I didnt actually use it but it was tracking my movement through SF)...incidentally, Navigation in Enterprise (my original rental research choice) was an additional fee of (if memory serves me right) approximately $20.All in all, Alamo is now my Go To company for automobile rentals!!
I was challenged by renting a newer and different make of vehicle than I use at home. The most significant problem I had was sitting in the airport parking about 30 minutes unable to move anywhere because I did not know how to engage the vehicle to move. I was finally assisted by a lot attendant who showed me how to activate the Drive and get the vehicle to move. I found the vehicle had a fairly understandable GPS locating system and generally found the Cadillac SUV to be simple to operate and very reliable.
Alamo at Sacramento Airport offered precisely what we wanted. All processing was efficient and timely, both with the reservation process in advance (online) and with our pickup and dropoffs. The staff was friendly and helpful, and we got exactly the car we expected--in fact, it was better! The top-of-the-line car even prompted me to suggest it as a future car for our family. The price was the best at the location, and the product was exactly what we wanted. You cannot beat that!

I love Alamo but the only thing they missed was outside of car was not cleaned very well. The guy offered to take it back and clean it better but I did not have time. Otherwise service was good.
My wife and I travel quite a bit and have rented from many different rental companies with some bad experiences. Alamo is my favorite with consistently good service. The experience in St. Louis was no different. They did not have the type of car available that I reserved, so upgraded me. The agent was very personable and efficient. I wish I could remember his name. When I returned the car I was going to take the shuttle back to the airport and then another shuttle to my hotel, but an agent offered to take me directly to my hotel because they were not busy at the time. I have never experienced such good service from a rental company and Alamo will be my rental company of choice in the future.
Matthew was my rep. He was knowledgeable, fast, friendly. My car was nice. Worked great. Return went smoothly. Fairly priced. No complaints. It’s a budget car rental, I don’t know why people give t such bad reviews. You get what you get. I’m a fan.

The car I rented was nice and I enjoyed it very much. However the experience was soured by the man at the counter who helped me. This is a trip I saved all year for, $1000 just for the airline ticket and the rental car. When the gentleman asked me did I want to prepay for a full up (gas), I declined. He was pushy about it so I finally said I only have the monebyy for the rental. His attitude toward me changed and I felt as if he was judging me. He asked me what about the insurance then. I explained I was using my own insurance. Not everyone has unlimited access to money. So while I enjoyed the car I went be back because of the customer service. I do want to add, the guys who checked me in were very nice. Its crazy how one person can affect how a business is perceived.
The employee was amazing when I went to pick up the car and the gentlemen getting the car ready for me both deserve 5 huge stars. Alamo gets 3 stars because I’ve rented from Alamo several times in the past years and this time I paid for the rental about 3 weeks in advance. It makes no sense to charge $250 that yes it gets refunded but those are funds I can’t use. Because of this ridiculous deposit I won’t be using Alamo again.
I had a great experience renting a vehicle here. I reserved it months in advance and when I arrived it was ready for me.The staff person at the counter gave excellent service. He asked all the standard up-sell questions (upgrade vehicle, navigation, additional insurance, etc.) but in the friendly manner you should expect. I said no to all of the questions and he moved on without wasting my time trying to scare me into insurance, etc. It was refreshing.

We decided to fly into Sacramento instead of Reno this particular visit to Lake Tahoe, to take in more of the scenery. We just needed a six passenger vehicle, nothing fancy. We were upgraded to a beautiful Lincoln Navigator which, although was a beast 😉, handled like a dream and had every bell and whistle on it. I hope on our upcoming trip to Sonoma, via Oakland, we’re treated with the same upgrade and customer service.

Sucked Some my daughters wallet was stolen and I need it to get a rental car for her . Day I told my daughter over the phone the favorite except the debit card then when I got there the Alamo, they proceeded to tell me because I lived in Sacramento I could not use my debit card ! Some my daughter who flew in from LA could use her debit card but because I live in Sacramento, they would not accept mine because apparently people who live in town are thieves people live out of town would not be thieves . I dont know theyre thinking. So I had to drive all over town and of course it was not the policy of other rental companies, To exist exclude someone because they live in Sacramento, From using their debit card. Now this is all at the Sacramento airport . So if you call them in a say OU news your debit card you better not be from the town they I need the car from . I had a credit card it just didnt have as big of a balances they wanted for deposit

I had a great and pleasant time when renting a car at Alamo. Although there were a big line of customers waiting, they were able to process rentals fairly quickly, and when it was my turn, my prepaid voucher went through flawless. Exceeding my expectation, Alamo was able to give me a better car. It was great, I had a great time while in Sacramento, and nice and comfortable ride to San Francisco. Easiest drop off ever at SF airport a week later. I cant thank enough Alamo and the assistance from Vaughn! Keep up with the great service!
Flew in to Sacramento, arrived late due to delay and the alamo reps are still there waiting with car ready to go. Matter of fact these guys always have the cars ready for their clients. So it was a quick and easy check in. Definitely recommend!
This was the best rental car experience Ive had anywhere. The employees were exceptional from check in, to car pick up, to car return. The car was clean and very nice, and it was a compact car so the price was good as well. I highly recommend this particular Alamo facility at the Sacramento airport.
The rental car experience was fine - the problem is with the security hold they placed on my credit card. My one day rental totaled $55, the company placed a $201 & $256 hold on my credit card and then ran a third charge of $55 when we returned the car. Its been 4 days and the hold has not been released. I frequently rent cars for work and the other agencies release the security deposit immediately or within 24hrs. Even though the customer service is good I will probably choose another agency for my next rental.
The rental process from start to finish was extremely easy. The car we received was clean. They did not try to guilt us into buying a lot of add-ons we didnt need.
This is a great company to deal with, ever since trying them a couple of years ago. We have not gone to another rental company since..There staff is what makes this such a great company, I have yet to meet one member of staff that was anything but courteous and professional.We will certainly continue to rent from Alam . All over the world.
I was impressed when after having to wait for a longer line (Alamo is popular) I got to the desk and was there no longer than FIVE minutes! In and out of there. I appreciated that and being given an option to which car I would like to have as a rental (Way to empower to the customer). I dont recall the ladys name but she didnt try to push coverage on me and that was a plus.When I returned the car I was greeted by a friendly staff and he set me up with another guy (Pow was his name) who just drove us over to the terminal so we wouldnt have to use the shuttle. I had my wife and baby, along with a car seat and stroller. It made it way easier.Thanks Alamo of Sac Airport... Ill definitely be using you guys for my next rental!
I am a loyal member of Alamo’s rewards program and my latest rental in Sacramento solidified why. John at the desk was kind in his greeting immediately. He confirmed my reservation, looked at my info, then surprisingly wished me a happy birthday, which had taken place a few days prior to my trip. He then worked his magic and assigned an upgraded car, brand new Nissan Altima, at what i would call a drop dead, deeply discounted rate. The best experience thus far with Alamo. Looking forward to many more interactions with this stellar company and it’s team of pros!
