You can find household items that you cant find anywhere else locally. And they have decent prices even with food. Never knew they had Strawberry Cheesecake Donuts and Turtle Brownies

Has lots of stuff that you may need. Pretty decent prices, its really the only dollar store around the Monroe ave/Meigs area.They dont stock their shelves that well however. The store is hard to navigate if you have a child or stroller bc many of the items are still on stocking carts.

Huge Improvement!!! Aisles are cleared. Counters opened up. The sweetest young lady behind the register. short staffed but the Best selection hands down. Especially compared to the other locations. Best you could expect, Its family Dollar not Neiman Marcus. 😁

Horrible experience.I often come here for smaller grocery lists rather than waste time going all the way to Wegmans. I usually have a backpack to carry my stuff from here and other stores on the way. 9 times out of 10 nobody says anything to me. I come in, buy my stuff, pack it in my bag and leave.I was hassled today by the Cashier Nikki who followed me around until I checked my bag. They were also extremely rude.I dont care if its store policy. Nobody wants to be made to feel like theyre going to steal something for having a backpack with them. What difference is a backpack from these giant purses or totes some of the women have with them?I might just never shop here again even if it means a few extra minutes to the actual grocery store since Ive NEVER been told to check my backpack at wegmans.

The staff at this store is really kindly,the cashiers very fast avoiding to spend time on the line. Good prices and a variable inventory. The parking lot is great on a really safe area.

Good deals if you dig. Always a mess. You usually can not access most shelves due to pallets. If I often carry a backpack I dont mind leaving it behind the counter but they have you leave it right where someone else can lean over and grab it. Often staff leave the front counter unattended so any of the people that come in and often cause trouble can grab it and go like they do with store products. No thank you. While I like dollar general I dislike this location.

The manager Martin has changed that store around & now its a friendly neighborhood place to shop at.

This Dollar General at the edge of my neighborhood. Its awesome when we just need to grab a few things & dont want to deal with walking all around Costco. The prices arent all amazing, but if you know what to choose you will be getting a good deal.

Store is dirty, over crowded to the point you can barely fit down the aisles. Something extremely simple like handcarts are not available and would relieve a lot of traffic in the crowded store store. Employees are unprofessional rude and usually smoking marijuanareally smoking marijuana

This dollar general store had potential untill they renovated the store.Now the isles are way too cramped especially because there are always roller shelves full of unopened boxes with merchandise needed to be stocked.There has never been a time that I have been to that store where the merchandise on the rollers wasnt making the store cramped and the line going in different directions through isles and blocking customers, and making the customers shopping experience cluttered and uncomfortable.Dollar general has made a better store on east main street downtown Rochester right next to the end of east ave that has a much better lay out and produce as well called DGX.I mostly prefer DGX but live closer to the Monroe Ave store and do not own an automobile.However the staff at Monroe are very friendly and good at what they do. Perhaps the only good thing this store has going for it.

First staff is now very kind and courteous. Love the way they walk with me when I walk in the door!However I believe they need somebody near to just do stock, as theres always something in the way if youre using a cart. And sometimes even going past people is hard to do.

Very dirty and unorganized. All the aisles were clogged up with merchandise that needed to be put away. Also hard to find anything. Employees had attitude like you were interrupting their day

In all fairness its a Dollar General it is what it is but I would say to anybody that might be going to it I would avoid the one in Rochester the people that work there theyre not very friendly theyre always in a bad mood theyre always complaining about something its never really a good shopping experience. I shop Dollar Tree right down the street. Dollar General like I said is Dollar General but the staff here really needs some work.

Staff is usually helpful and friendly. Great little convenience type store where you can pick up anything from basic school or household supplies, to makeup, party favors, lawn and gardening, or home decor items. Theres also an extensive freezer section for quick foods, some frozen vegetables, milk and eggs in addition to lots of sodas, juices, ice tea and snacks. A couple aisles of canned good and pantry items, and pet supplies as well. Pretty decent prices for most items.

If you have entered one of these stores then you automatically know theres 50 customers and 1 cashier. You definitely ( need a snicker bar ) going to one of these stores or the patience like Job😅

The employees at this store are absolutely amazing. They keep it clean and every time I am in there (apx 4 times a week) they are making people laugh. This is more of a neighborhood store than a chain the way these great people make you feel when you are there. It is also well stocked with anything you might need but dont feel like going to the supermarket for. We have needed this in our neighborhood for years. Thank you for being so awesome!

Everyone was absolutely wonderful. I walked a half mile down monroe checking every single place that sells food for the one specific thing I needed and Dollar General not only ACTUALLY HAD what I was looking for but they also had it for a very very reasonable price! Any complaints I heard from customers were ridiculous and unwarrented in all honesty. The employees and manager were all working their butts off and doing a wonderful job of maintaining customer service while putting away their stock.This is by far the best Dollar General Ive seen so far.

They do not care if you wear a mask, plenty of customers without one and they didnt say anything.

Its a horrible place to shop. The young lady at the register was very rude and disrespectful. I was overcharged for 2 small bottle of hot sauce. She rung it up a 1.50 a piece. The real price was 1.25. I told her it was not that price that it was 1.25 on the top shelf. She raised her voice and yelled out, well i have to return the items and i had to get back in line. She snatched my receipt out my hand. She yell out again where does it state that. There were 2 customers behind that looked at her with embarrassing glare. I was embarrassed myself. I showed her the price. She came back around the counter and threw my return change on the counter. She then proceeded to yell out the supervisor name. She didnt even need them because she reversed it transaction and rerung the items. It was over ring by 30 cents but it was my 30 cents. I will post my experience and also be writting a letter to corporate to address this issue. I deserve an apology from her. She is not food for the Dollar General image. I will continue to address this horible experience i had until i get a response. No one should be treated bad the way i was.

Monroe and Goodman. I like the convenience, staff is always nice, but the store is always in shambles with inventory waiting to be stocked. But prices and selection is awesome.

Its not a Family Dollar now; its a Dollar General. Its great though! Quick service, great prices (of course) & great selections. Some of the food & drinks are pretty healthy which can be hard in a dollar store. This is a great store at a convenient location too.

No room to walk through isles ever

Prices vary along with the employees & Ive had a few exchanges & issues with the items & prices which were recifitied professionally & plus the last few times Ive been there the police is always there because somebody stealing or trying to sell you something. The store is kinda sloppy too.

Its not a bad place to stop at to grab something you need on the way home. If there is someone are the front end they will say welcome most of the time.

When they first opened the one on Spencerport road it was so nicely organized and clean, there was usually 5 or 6 employees but now you are lucky if you see 2 . You alll need to fix your store because its a disaster now

Didnt have what I needed

Well, what can you say about Dollar general? Its a discount store here in the city of Rochester that sells cheap stuff at semi cheap prices. They have a fairly wide selection of different merchandise in the store like foods, home goods, some clothing, paper goods etc. The store is fairly disheveled which accounts for the three star rating, but the staff is very nice and it isnt a bad place to shop.

Love having this one so close to me.I use to go to Family Dollar on Main st. Only got there now,if I cant find what Im looking for at Dollar General. The isle with their 1$ section is the best. Great products,that you pay at least 2$ for somewhere else. From Medicine to Name brand cleaning products and extras. I walked in there was about 5 people in line, I spent about 10mins in the store and the line was down to me, love that. Take a min to stop in just to check out all the products from food, to clothes. Heading there today,if its not to cold lol

I thought Family Dollar was my favorite store to go to. But now they have competition with Dollar General. Love shopping here. I either go to the Monroe Ave. & S. Goodman location or the Lyell Avenue location near my job. Their prices are Low & Affordable for everything. Also you save by downloading the DG app by entering your cell or home number everytime at the end of your purchase either online or in the store where the debit/credit card slider machine is.

The store is hot, disorganized and has a weird energy when you shop there.

Staff is always polite and helpful. My spouse and i have become regulars in there. Stock can be hit and miss depending on the day. Seems like this location needs more employees because its in a busy area,but overall, we hope it stays in our neighborhood

Cashiers are always helpful and cant beat low prices but sometimes you could be waiting in line for 15 minutes to checkout because only a few ppl working. Thats a busy store cmon

Decent customer service, under staffed. Friendly but occasional empty shelves and long lines. 830 on 12/29 not open at 800 as store hours listed.

Thank God they close the store down. The lines were always so long and you had to wait a long time. Some of the items were open or bad or spoiled. Sometimes customers along with staff can be rude. But the plus side is that it was convenient to go to to shop in the prices were reasonably marked.

The older female manager is a mega b! Id rather go to rite Aid and spend a few more dollars than deal with her. She treats the staff in there horribly as well as customers.

I shop here pretty frequently just for the cheap deals, and every time it seems like they are understaffed. Theres usually only one employee at a cash register, and theres usually always a line. The shelves are rarely stocked, yet inventory will be sitting on crates in aisles.

I have seen this store change management at least 3 times since its eruption. The staff are over worked. Stressed out. Gossip like crazy about each other. Stock is always on the carts . Never put away. I havent ever seen clothes to buy ever.. That section remains empty lines are always long, and Im usually ok with all that, but for the last two nights the cooler was empty when I asked the staff why she said they had to refuse the truck because the coolers are broken. Well these coolers are fully working. And functional even have product in them. I ran into a neighbor and he said they told him, the day before that the freezers and coolers would be stocked last night. And to no avail..... I just had to take pictures to show the situation. This is every time Im there. Ohh and the roof is leaking. And the front door is broken and needs replacing. Has huge cracks like it was kicked. And they just keep it locked. Corporate defiantly needs to get a handle on this.

This dollar store had a large selection of frozen food. It also seamed to have a lot more in it compared to most stores I have been in.
