I would not recommend taking your vehicle here. I brought my car in because I was having engine problems and I could not get in with my normal mechanic the next day, so I brought it to Tilsons who could get me in. After they ran the diagnostics report they told me my car had $4,600 worth of work that needed to be done on my car (2013 Ford Taurus with 110,000 Miles - Regular oil changes and checkups). I told them I could not afford this right now and asked them what the minimum I could do to fix the engine problem now. I was told I needed a Mass Air Flow Sensor and it had to be reprogrammed, A new belt, and spark plugs. This was to cost around $1,400 so I called my regular mechanic and another location for second opinions.Both of the other places told me this was an extremely high estimate and that the mass air flow sensor did not to to be reprogrammed but just put in (Tilsons was going to charge an extra $100+ for it to be reprogrammed). I took my car in for a second opinion with my regular mechanic a few days later and they told me the Mass Air Flow Sensor looked brand new. They cleaned off any dirt from it and told me any additional work would be for maintenance and it wouldnt necessarily fix the problem. After they cleaned the Mass Air Flow Sensor and reattached it I have not had any issues with my car.I would be very cautious of bringing anything here and I never will again. They seemed to be more worried about making money that the customer. They come off as very helpful but unfortunately for me that was not the main motive that came across. When I told them I wouldnt be paying the $1,400 and taking my car they made a final offer around $600 and told me that this would probably fix the problem. I HAD ALREADY ASKED FOR THE CHEAPEST OPTION AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $1,400 . There are plenty of other better options in Rochester who care about the customers more than just making money.

I had a battery installation on 4/1/2021 in my 2017 Corvette. On 4/2/2021 I went to start the Corvette and it was completely dead. After checking the main terminal connections and finding them solid, I called AAA to try to get it going. They could not get it going and had no answers. I finally called my preferred Chevrolet dealer and they discovered that one of the bolts on the top of the battery was not secured tightly. They secured it and everything was fine. This mistake cost me $150. I am not happy!

Steve and the rest of the team were incredibly knowledgeable, personable, kind, and efficient. We came to town for a medical procedure at Mayo and had some unexpected major car issues that would have prevented us from getting safely home. Steve took the time to explain everything that was going on, found us discounted parts (which was very helpful with such a large unexpected expense), and overnighted parts to ensure we got back on the road on time. Steve communicated every step of the way with my daughter as I was in the hospital and took care of everything so by the time I was out of the hospital, my car was ready as well. We are very grateful to the team at Tilsons!

Fantastic customer service. Great work and warranties. Thorough, passionate, knowledgeable. Without a doubt one of the best mechanics in the area. The shop also sends you a visual intake report for your vehicle as they start working on it that assesses pretty much all the various parts/systems in your vehicle.

Tilson’s auto was professional and courteous from start to finish while working on a custom alignment for a lifted SUV. I cannot speak highly enough about the service provided by Tilsons. I was worried my car was knocking on deaths door when I rolled in (without an appointment, mind you), worried Id have to scramble for a vehicle to get back home. Their team diagnosed my car very rapidly and gave me a number of options, including a rather daunting worst-case-scenario just to prepare me. As they immediately set to work on my vehicle - again, I did not have an appointment! - one of the brothers drove me back to my hotel to wait for the duration with their courtesy vehicle which was very convenient. The repair was done VERY quickly and I was thus picked up very quickly paid (less than was estimated as they did their best to salvage what they could!) and was back on the road.This was all while I was hauling around 2 cats in a kennel too, which they loved of course.for a tl;dr - very prompt, last-minute service that was extremely professionally delivered, and as affordable as car repairs can safely be.

Amazing service! Took my car here to get my brakes checked out after having driven past a few times and saw on their sign that they offered financing (I knew it wasnt going to be a cheap job). The staff here were unbelievably friendly and courteous. I was called into work unexpectedly, and they offered me a ride right away.They were very thorough when looking at my car. The online report they put together was fantastic - Im not very car saavy, so having pictures and notes to refer to while talking to them on the phone really helped while making decisions on what all I did or did not want done. They never pushed me to get something unnecessary done, and explained very well why they wanted to fix the things they had listed.I have already recommended this place to a few of my friends and coworkers. Ill definitely be going back for any of my car needs!(And as for my brakes, its like Im driving a whole new car! 😁)

I have been to Tilson’s numerous times for two different vehicles I have owned. They have done numerous things from changing oil, flushing fluids, and basic maintenance to brake repair, putting on new tires and completely fixing my sun roof. Tilsons is AWESOME and my new go-to repair shop! A couple weeks back, I had purchased a pre-owned vehicle from a dealer and thought I was beginning to experience problems with the A/C, gas mileage, etc. Ben + Joe were extremely professional, patient, friendly, etc in helping me with my auto problems. - they simply excel at customer service, and the team provided quality technical service. At no point did I feel pressured or that they were trying to make money off of me. I live around the Mayo downtown area, and Tilsons graciously offered to drive me back after dropping off the car and pick up after service, complimentary in their company van. Theres nothing short of autoshops in Rochester, but I chose Tilsons because of the excellent Google reviews...and this is me paying it forward, sharing my experience as well for future customers. My car wouldnt start the morning that I was supposed to drive home, and I had no idea what was wrong. I could not resist posting a review of this place...After faithfully bringing my VW to the dealership for 6+ years I was (nervously) ready for a change. Tilsons delivered! I was greeted with friendly staff and was updated with their inspection and diagnoses (including current condition of the inspected areas- with pictures- as well as the consequences of neglecting any problem areas but was not pressured into getting that additional service TODAY). They claimed to have done the 125.00 diagnostic. And then tell me it will be 400 dollars to to open up the engine and check what the problem is. Not sure exactly what I paid for if you still dont know if the belt inside is the problem. Received nothing for my payment. There is lots of competition in rochester. I would look elsewhere.

My husband brought his truck here for a second opinion for some high cost repairs. Tilson’s was able to get us in right away and give us a second estimate within 30 minutes. We also asked them if they could check the vehicle over for other safety issues and they were happy to spend more time on it for us. The customer service was superb. I looked online for a good garage and saw the reviews for Tilsons. The good reviews were backed up by my great experience. Great experience! Very knowledgeable about everything! I had them service two different vehicles in the span of a week for two very different issues and they were both completed expertly and with quick turnaround! Wonderful, thorough service. They took time to explain everything and made sure I understood what they were going to do. And very reasonable prices considering all they did for me. I just moved here from out of state and I guess I don’t have to worry about finding a new regular mechanic anymore because I found them.

The experience with Tilsons was exceptionally GREAT!! Although spending a bunch of money on an older vehicle is never fun, Tilsons made it less painful. They were VERY thorough on inspecting the whole vehicle and explained everything it needed in depth!! The workmanship of the vehicle was done very fast and its working great (again). Great service. Thought I might need a new battery because the one in my 2005 Honda Civic is 7 years old. Service team checked it out and said it was still OK and had plenty of life left in it. They could have easily sold me a new battery but they didnt. They did suggest new wiper blades and gave me a several options to choose from. Thanks Tilsons for the great service. Ill be back.

Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable, and provide awesome service. They work to make sure I get the best deal, even looking for used/aftermarket parts of I want them. They are also great at communicating via text and phone, have a clean, modern facility, and work to fit my schedule.

I was in a real bind, as my drivers side window failed to close and the weather did not want to cooperate. I called my normal shop and they weren’t able to work me in. Tilson’s told me to come right away and had the problem fixed with a part that was not easy to find. I’ll be coming to Tilson’s from now on.

Came in on cold, Friday Morning (about -10 degrees). The manager (Joe) was very comprehensive and honest about what type of service they can provide. This business shows empathy and kind service to people by giving them a ride to where they need to go (in my case, work). I asked how much it would cost, he replied with Its part of our service.Joe was also very honest about the amount of time he took to look at my car. Sadly, my car would be too expensive and old to repair. They gave me 3 days to decide what to do with it. They offered to take it from me free of charge. I would recommend Tilsons for their honest, kind, and friendly service. They are also very attentive and understanding of peoples car troubles.

A week ago I found coolant leaking from my 2012 Fords Fusion. I booked an appointment with the local Ford agency and took the car in on Monday. I told my contact at Ford of the coolant leakage and left the car for repair. I returned home expecting a call from the service department telling me what was causing the leakage. The only call I received was a call in late afternoon saying I could pick my car up. When I arrived to pick it up I was told the problem was a broken water pump. No attempt had been made to work on the pump. Instead, I received a list of mechanical items I should look at at in the future. The day had been spent checking the car out instead of repairing the water pump. That same day I turned to your shop to see if I could get your thinking on why coolant was leaking, You had an opening on Tuesday and I brought my car in. I returned home and a short time later you called saying the water pump needed to be replaced. I gave a go-ahead and you called later keeping me aware of how the job was progressing. You suggested I consider replacing related worn parts. This I agreed to. You have helped me to keep ahead of the car maintenance work needed on a relatively old car. Work was done quickly and, it seems, professionally.

We were traveling through Rochester on our way to Nashville for Thanksgiving. We had a low tire warning and could smell burning and the right rear tire was hot. It was a Sunday evening. We found Tilsons website and were able to request an appointment online for the next day. We received an e-mail back that evening indicating to bring the car in and they would look at it in the morning. We were so relieved. My husband brought our vehicle in upon their opening and they were able to identify the problem and fix it immediately. The shop is clean, staff professional and knowledgeable and we were on the road by 10 am. We are grateful for the service that they provided us. Would highly recommend this shop.
