I would like to convey my wife’s and my unpleasant experience with Allied Van Lines - Dunmar Moving Systems. We were moving from Richmond, Virginia to New Hampshire. We were given a pick up date of Wednesday 1/6/21 and the pick up went flawlessly with the long distance driver and three helpers. On the moving day we were told that delivery would be in Sunday 1/10/21. The driver arrived just after 8am and began preliminary work for the day. Two helpers were supposed to have arrived between 8am and 9am. They did not. The driver actually was able to contact them and they said they would be at the house in about 30 minutes. That time passed and more calls from the driver only now they were going to the helpers voice mail. I had been helping the driver move boxes, etc until about Noon when it was finally apparent no help was coming. The driver said that he would come the next day to deliver. That was a problem since my wife had to work on Monday and I had made a commitment to a family member to take them for outpatient surgery and required a driver. My wife and I pledged our help to get the truck unloaded around Noon. The driver accepted the help. We worked until about 6:30pm moving everything, including extremely heavy oak furniture, into the house. First thing Monday morning I contacted our Dunmar moving coordinator and after several conversations, including one with a Dunmar VP. They offered $200 compensation to a customer (us) for our work. Sorry, this was insulting and unacceptable. They didn’t deliver when they said, wanted to switch gears on the fly with no notice and were surprised we called them on it? Calls to Allied corporate offices yielded the same answer. Allied clearly doesn’t care to make their customers happy, they don’t care who they inconvenience as long as it suits them and feel no remorse of having the customer unload their own truck. Dunmar is a very poor customer service organization. Allied likewise does not care about their customers. Stay away from them!! (That is me with the red hoodie in the pictures)

Rusty, our move consultant, was supper and made the move go very easy. We had to change our move date, due to the sale of our house, and Rusty was able to arrange for the date change. He was very professional and always treated me with respect. Becky was our move coordinator and she kept me up to date on what was happening and when. When I had a question I was able to call her and have my question answered. Chris was the driver and he kept me up to date on when he would arrive at the pick up location and let me know that he was running late, which I appreciated. He called to let me know when he would arrive for delivery. I was very pleased with the total operation.

Dunmar helped me move my 1 bedroom apartment from Virginia to Seattle, WA. The rate was one of the most competitive rates while also being a quality and reliable service. My agent was in contact with my constantly and was very quick to respond. The actual team that moved me were very friendly, considerate (especially during pandemic times), and protected all of our furniture so well for the move. If we ever have a big move, we will be using Dunmar again!

The whole process was handled professionally from Rusty, the packers Virgil and his crew & Jerome and his crew. But, a hugh thank you to Becky!!!! She was such a pleasure to work with… she literally helped me remain sane through this process. You’re company is lucky to have her…

Overall it was a good move. The start of my move wasn’t the best, I was supposed to have 4 movers only 2 showed up. They arrived at 9:00am they worked till 5:00pm and couldn’t finish. They had to come back the next day for another 5 hours. I was moving out of a 2 bedroom apartment. This delayed my move and appointments I had scheduled had to be rescheduled.I had 2 items broken and 2 items not delivered.Rusty and Becky in Richmond were great!I now have to file a claim which hasn’t been easy to submit.

Excellent experience with salesperson, Shawn! Experience with the so called move coordinator was terrible! She sent me scripted information via email about who would come and when. Her tone was condescending when she replied to a few of my questions, I didn’t hear from her from several days before the movers came until 7 days after the move...although she was supposed to send me a form to pay for the delivery. When she called delivery day and left a voicemail, she lied saying that I had told her I was paying by cashier check. I never even considered that. When I confronted her about it, she apologized!Regardless, she was not in touch to see how things went with the packers. And she didn’t respond when I reached out about payment on the Friday before delivery, so I contacted Shawn.After payment was made, I received an email asking for feedback and to leave the comments on a voicemail. Voicemail comments can easily be erased so I chose to document my feedback in writing.The packers and movers were effective and efficient. The offloading was delayed by me because I gave the driver the wrong code. Their patience was appreciated!Those who unloaded packed my storage unit to the top...since apparently it should have been larger. My concern was that I expressly asked for the boxes with pastel labels be placed near the door. Those are the box’s I needed to function. That wasn’t done... so I have to pay movers to rearrange items so that I have access. We had about two months between the sale of our old home and the closing on our new home in another state. Dunmar did an excellent job. The team of packers was very respectful of our things and all items were packed with great care. We were thrilled to receive each and every one of our possessions on the other end without any damage. The final delivery was prompt and all Dunmar employees were true professionals. I highly recommend them and would definitely use them again

Stay away! We made a long distance move from Virginia to New Hampshire last week. The crew loaded our things onto the truck on Wednesday and said they would be delivered the following Sunday. The driver showed up, but his local helpers did not. After almost 4 hours (during which my husband was helping unload some smaller items), it was obvious that no help was coming. So the three of us (me, my husband, and the driver) unloaded an entire 26’ truck by ourselves. We didn’t finish until almost 7:00 pm. For this privilege, we paid $7,500.We contacted Dunmar the next day to ask for a partial refund and they said that it was “our choice” to unload the truck and that they could have come back on Monday. According to them, this was within their “delivery window” and therefore completely ok. Never mind that we had arranged our schedule to have things delivered on Sunday (the day they picked). We also both had commitments the following day (work and taking a family member for a surgical procedure) that we could have made other arrangements for, had we known in advance. (Both the driver and the VP we spoke to at Dunmar told us that it was difficult to get help on Sundays and they would have had “more resources” on Monday. So why did they choose to deliver our things on a Sunday?)After escalating our complaint to the corporate customer relations department, the best they offered us is $200, which is what the helpers would have been paid ($100 each). We declined. Clearly Dunmar (and Allied) aren’t concerned about customer satisfaction, only the bottom line.

Moving is never easy. The people I workedwith here were extremely responsive. They arranged for everything to be moved to another state and everything arrived when I needed it. Great experience with these people.

Fast and efficient gets the job done well cant complain

Three guys came with a large truck. They were friendly, careful and efficient. They did an excellent job loading our stuff into their truck, taking it to our new home across town, and unloading and placing everything where we asked them to.I was happy to give them a large tip.A few days later, one of the workers called me. Apparently, I have accidently included much more than I had said in my tip to him. I was impressed with his honesty. I told him no need to give it back, but instead share it with his two coworkers.When the question of movers came up recently on nextdoor.com, Iwholeheartedly recommended Dunmar.I hope I odnt ever move again, but if I do, I will definitely use Dunmar again!

Angel the driver was great to work with and his helper was good at the pickup location. Angel was on time for the delivery and unloaded the truck by him self since his helper failed to show up after responding the night before that hed be there. The personnel at Dunmar moving where good to deal with. If we ever move again well definitely be calling Allied Moving again.

Moving crew was professional, knowledgeable, polite and friendly. They were on time and very responsive to our requests. The only criticism I have is that a 40 TV was damaged in the move. Everything else came through intact. I recommend Dunmar Moving Systems.

Overall, a pretty good experience. We had a couple of glitches but would recommend them for a big move. Quite expensive but not sure how you can get around that.

Everyone I dealt with from Rusty to Becky to Angel performed at the highest level possible. They were helpful, courteous and professional every step of the way. I can’t say enough good things about Angel and his level of service. Extremely careful loading and unloading our furniture. I don’t see how our moving experience could have been any better. I cannot say enough good things about our moving experience with Dunmar. From the estimate to the unload out of state, they were on time, efficient and every employee involved went above board to make our move as easy as possible.Our master mover, Jonathon Gary, was wonderful - he made sure we had what we needed at both ends of the move!I would not hesitate to recommend Dunmar for moving!!

My experience was excellent. Dunmar was timely throughout the entire process. The movers were on time for pick up and quickly loaded the truck as well as a timely delivery to my new home. I would highly recommend Dunmar for your next move.

Destroyed a $12,000 Stickley solid mahogany dining room table in April 2019 in Short Pump, Va. Their insurer covered less than half of the damage after deductible and we have a worthless table. Moving crew ran out of the room and did not tell us about the damage. You can see their spit marks in pics where they tried to rub out the deep gouges and long 2 foot scratch. Pre-move we stressed the value of this handmade mahogany dining table. Bought this back in 1992 when we were married and it was in mint condition. Dunmar trashed it in less than one day after our 27 years of ownership.Donna Trevy, our Dunmar Move Consultant, identified the table on the pre-move Estimate & Order for Service as A very special piece of furniture. White glove. We even had custom made protective 1 inch thick table pad on top of table and movers took it off prior to packing table and just put those pads on the moving truck separate from table. Insane !!

I dont recommend this company. The driver was less than professional and very reluctant to help my husband get our delivery to the door, even though it was threshold delivery and Id received an email stating that they would take the delivery inside. He acted as if any request, such as a dolly to haul it in the house, was putting him out. I called and let a manager know that the service was terrible and was told that hed speak to the driver. The one star is for the vanity arriving in good condition.

Real friendly and very professional staff

Would not recommend. Emily our rep was great. Very responsive. They two guys that showed up to pack were just awful. One was so careless, literally throwing our stuff around. Broke several things. He was in such a hurry. I had to literally ask him to leave. No respect for the customers belongings. If the loaders show up tomorrow with the same kind of attitude I will need to ask for a refund.Well the loaders and truck showed up the next day. Our troubles didnt end with the packers. The loaders basically shoved everything on the truck with no regards to keeping our things from getting damaged. Upon delivery we had a number of items damaged. My wifes Kitchen Aid mixer was damaged beyond repair. Damage to multiple pieces of furniture. We had storage containers that were basically smashed (along with their contents). One of our mattresses, would should of been packed in a mattress box, was literally bent out of shape. I would reiterate my earlier statement, I would NEVER, EVER recommend. If you have a choice use someone else for your move!!!!!!!!!

We had a fantastic move with Dunmar! From start to finish, they made it easy! From our move coordinator to our packing and moving crews to our truck driver, everyone was professional and knowledgeable! We have moved before but Dunmar clearly works with their crew members to ensure a high level of professionalism. They set the standard! We highly recommend 😊

Overall a good move, several things missing and broken glass picture frames and lamp shades(all marked fragile handle with care), broken temper pedic clips that hold mattress when raising the bed up.

Every aspect of our contact and service in this move was professional and well done starting with Jen, who did our estimate, to Amy who became our main contact, to our driver Angel who could not have been more thoughtful and accommodating.Moving is a horrible experience so I am not surprised when I see critical reviews. My wife and I have moved many times while we were in the military service and after service. The Dunmar people made the move much better than we could have otherwise hoped for.

Horrible communication and service from their rep Shawn Pinion. Always late and never answered texts in a timely manner. Lots of excuses. Haley, their move coordinator, picked up the slack and did her best under the circumstances. They require a deposit for your move. We fired them and have hired another company. We’re moving cross country and the stressful situation prior to our move convinced us they were incompetent. I would not recommend them

Dunmar Moving made my move go smoothly. Moving is very stressful and everyone with the company made me feel so comfortable, from the first phone call until the movers left my house. The company goes over the top to make sure you know exactly what is going on with each step of the move as well as the cost of each service. The actual moving team was so impressive. They were friendly, professional, respectful and made sure we were happy with the placement of our furniture and millions of boxes. I wouldnt hesitate to call them again!!1

We could not have been happier with the entirety of our experience with Dunmar. Not only was Rob available to answer questions at odd times of day and night, but Isaac and his crew handled our belongings with care and concern (in cold weather and pouring rain even!) and were delightful to work with. Whats more is that everyone involved with Dunmar was pleasant to speak to and worked hard to make the stressful process of moving as smooth as possible. We are so grateful and highly recommend them!

It is a great strategy to reply to on line reviews and offer assistance, but it is better when the agent actually responds to your email! Just more of the aggrevation that this agent caused us during the move. Do not recommend!

We has actually contracted with a different Allied company representative and were surprised on moving day to have Dunmar show up. The result was that the truck sent was not the right size for the load and some items we had agreed that the movers would pack, we had to pack ourselves!Apart from the lack of communications, the actual movers did a fantastic job. I certainly commend their spatial relations skills. Since our furniture is still in storage I cannot comment on delivery.

Dunmar moving provided excellent customer service. The moving crew was timely and professional. They made my first experience with professional movers a great one. Highly recommend.

Worst move we have ever experienced. Other than the living room furniture everything else that they touched was damaged (piano, high boy, bed sideboards, treadmill, picture frame, head board, ceramic tree, antique radio cabinet). The antique upright piano (~450 pounds) was moved with a hand truck dolly/straps with the piano tilted almost to an 90 degree angle causing major damages. This was the main reason for our selection of Allied (Dunmar) - assurance that the piano would be moved by professionals. The professionals were the truck driver and his daughter, and an additional crew of two called to help with the piano (over 4 hours for them to show up).

Dunbar was a wonderful company to work with. Jackie came out and gave us an estimate and it was pretty much spot on. Vincent and Angel were way beyond what we expected! They were very careful with our furnishings, not one thing was scratched or broken. I have never seen anyone work as hard as Vincent did. Dunbar has two wonderful employees in these gentlemen.

The crew showed up on time and did an incredible job ensuringy move was smooth! They were very courteous and exceeded my expectations! I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs great moving company!

We chose Dunmar Moving for our upcoming long distance move specifically because they had a declutter program that would allow us to store a lot of our boxes and furniture until the big moving day. Our team arrived on time and were very efficient. They had our boxes and furniture in the truck, helped move furniture from the kitchen and garage to the dining room, moved patio furniture back on to the deck, moved a playhouse to a new spot in the yard, and moved my daughters boxes (she is moving locally) to the garage in just 4 hours. They were pleasant and respectful of our belongs. I would hire them again if needed.

We used the same team of Peter Allen, Jay and Nick for packing up our house and moving us into our condo a few days later. At the risk of sounding corny these guys saved the day. Any issues we had they accepted it as a challenge and NOT a problem for them! We had a VERY frustrating, and time consuming closing of our house and the crew waited for us while we obtained the keys to our new place. Once we received the key they jumped into action - we had a time limit of no moving after 6pm from the condo association, luckily the Dunmar crew of Peter, Jay and Nick had all but one piece of furniture moved in within 2 hours! The last piece, an extra-long couch fought with the crew; they persevered and they were able to get it through the doorway and into our living room, and that was after they took it up several flights of stairs!! Thank you to Donna Trevey also for my last minute items I forgot - I have already recommended your company to others.

Would not recommend at any cost! No respect for your personal items. I watched them ram my things into walls without the slightest concern. Poorly packed with many items damaged at destination. Does not take responsibility for damage they cause to the residence while moving your things, leaving you out to dry with the cost to repair. If you are military, request a different TSP! No respect for service members.

I have mixed emotions with how things were handled. The move team seemed to pack up everything carefully and the delivery team seemed to unpack it carefully. Since I was between houses, I decided to store everything with Dunmar since they told me they had climate controlled storage and the price was only slightly higher than climate controlled storage at a self-storage facility. Several items were damaged when they were returned to me. Even though I paid extra each month for insurance, they did not take responsibility for two of the items because they said the damage was climate related and out of their control. If you store with them, be aware that their definition of climate controlled is not the same as an air conditioned constant temperature self storage facility!!! I am really unhappy with how they resolved the damage to my property, but they have their move, storage and insurance money so they have they are indifferent about my issue at this point.My damage included fabric on 6 chairs discolored and a crack in table top that they said was likely from the wood drying due to climate and out of their control.

These people are some of the most professional we have ever worked with in our three moves. This move was from Madison Heights, VA to Landrum, SC and we had some unique problems for the movers. They took care of all of the problems and made sure that everything we had was exceptionally taken care of. Thanks Dunmar and especially Emily Mayhew (our coordinator).

Dunmar Moving personnel delivered my Brookstone uAstro 2 replacement chair this morning and removed the defective one that Brookstone repair personnel could not fix during a half dozen service visits over the past six months. Both of Dunmars employees were courteous and professional. I was impressed with speed in which they assembled the replacement chair. Bryant Hurtt seemed very knowledgeable about the chair. It took them half of the time that it took the original Brookstone installers to assemble the chair. I am crossing my fingers hoping that this chair does not develop the problems that the last chair did.
