Dallas is really amazing- I have seen her 3 times and love love 💕! She did an excellent color correction for me and it is gorgeous now - and the cut is also beautiful. Dallas is uber talented and a very professional kind and thoughtful person. I have booked through January! Front desk is well run and complimentary to the service level overall. I wanted to keep as much length as possible and wanted healthier looking hair. My hair is naturally straight and It was getting really difficult to manage with my dead ends getting caught on everything or my hair getting torn out from elastics. My hair looks so much fuller, smoother, and thicker now with the layers and framing face pieces! Trish listened to what I wanted and didn’t cut off wayyy more than I asked for and was fun to talk to. I had to pay for an extra long cut but It’s more than worth it! I woke up today and could’ve literally just left my house without having to spending hours of time and energy on just making my hair feel presentable. i woke up today and my hair still looks amazing╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

Went in for a consultation and ended up wasting my Time. I told them I was traveling outside of the country next week and I also told them a week prior that I needed at least 4 to 6 hours for my session, Due to the fact of my hair being all blonde with black roots I just wanted to touch up the roots I understand it’s a long process I’ve been doing this for four years going to salons sitting there the whole day. I went in the day before for a consultation or so I thought and basically it was the stylist and then the master stylist talking to me. I told them I was fine with whatever they could do I just wanted the gold and black out of my hair that’s it. And I even told him I could come back another day that same week if she didn’t have enough time that day. After waiting for 20 minutes the stylist came up to me and told me she’s not gonna have enough time tomorrow to do my hair and she showed me the best and worst case scenario of what color my hair would turn out. I was shocked at the worst case scenario Because at my old salon they could at least get me to be a little lighter than gold in and my stylists worst case scenario color was dark brown. She said that she would only have possibly four hours that day to do my hair. I asked for another stylist obviously there wasn’t any because it was such short notice. It honestly was just such a waste of time end it really bothered me that the stylist and the master stylist went away for away to talk about my hair. I am an understanding person so why don’t they just say it to me? I’ve lived in Richmond for about two years now and haven’t found a good place to do my roots and this was the first salon I confided in and they are obviously not experienced enough and unorganized. Definitely will not be returning if that’s the best color that they can get my hair to be.

After a year of trying to cut & color my own hair, I looked like a technicolor poodle head. Merry confidently took me in hand and worked a miracle. She is a talented artist with a great eye for color, cut and styling. I highly recommend Merry and the salon. It is friendly and professional.

Im a very on a whim girl, and very last minute. I have not had a consistent stylist for I guess the better part of 3 years thanks to the pandemic. I actually live closer to Charlottesville but find myself in Richmond more often than not. I have been searching for a more forever home and Im pretty sure I found it. I just needed my roots (the tiniest smidge of grey that I panic about way more than I should) touched up. I started doing the usual Google search and landed here. I read reviews, I look at stylist bios, just all the things. I LOVED that I could book online. I work from home and Im on the phone a ton so not having to talk to someone (sorry) and just book while I work is just super convenient for me. Since as I said it was super last minute I booked with an apprentice Tiana that had availability. She confirmed the appointment overnight or first thing the following morning (I forget) and I was set. I hadnt used the Vagaro App before but loved it! I showed up a few minutes early, and honestly even being vaccinated LOVED seeing that masks were still required here. The front desk staff was GENUINELY warm and inviting. Tiana was ready for me on time. We talked through what I wanted done, she confirmed what color we were going with for my roots. She matched colors well and she started working. Great conversation. Made sure I was comfy. She used a shampoo on me that smelled aHmazing! I asked what it was and bought some before I left. But seriously I want to talk about how Tiana did a blow out on me that I havent had in all 34 years of my life. As I realize how long this review is, Im sorry. But typically when anyone dries my hair with that whole round brush routine I leave looking like a pageant queen in the 80s and I am always embarrassed to go anywhere directly after. I always go home and flat iron it back down. Its always big and curly and just blah. She dried my hair got rid of frizz and made it straight like I like it and I seriously was blown away. Sorry for the pun. I will definitely be back to this salon and Tiana is doing amazing and shes sure to go far! Thank you everyone!

He sat down and talked with me about what I wanted in a cut and got to know me before even touching my hair. Went in for a trim on my undercut with straight lines and left with bald spots. Very Disappointed and no way to fix other than letting it grow out. Will not be returning.

Krystal did an excellent job understanding and communicating what I wanted, how I wanted it, how she was performing it and ultimately executing the cut. It was quick & smooth at that. I have been a client at Circle Square Salon for the better part of the last year. I first came looking for some serious color correction for very bold chunky orange sort-of highlighted nightmare that I had paid a ton for at another salon. Mae has performed nothing short of a miracle on my hair. She spent easily an hour doing a consult before attempting to fix my disaster. I greatly appreciate that she consulted with another trusted senior stylist to come up with a solid plan. She was able to correct my color within a few appointments without damaging my hair at all. I absolutely love my cut and color now! The atmosphere of the salon fits exactly what I love too. Its bright and airy and a lot of fun. The staff have been very professional, pleasant, and keep things running smoothly. I highly recommend this salon!

Olivia is a great stylist and always does excellent work with my curly hair! She listens to what I want and has a great eye for detail as well. Shes also super funny and personable and just overall a nice person. I attend college out of state, but I always wait to get my hair cut when Im home on breaks because I know no one else can do as good a job as Olivia can. Waited for 30 minutes after my scheduled consultation. Spent that time looking at near by salons. Went down the street and walked into a consultation at a different salon. Lost a high paying customer.

I started going to Olivia at Circle Square about a year ago. My hair has never looked better. Olivia is a true master of her craft, and I trust her for any cut and color. One of the best things about this salon is the reception and customer service. All members of the staff make an effort to remember clients and maintain records about their services. I feel like a valued client every time I go in for a visit.

I really enjoyed my experiences here. Charlie is personable and really knows how to cut mens hair. If youre a guy w/medium length to long hair, hes your guy.

My first haircut at circle square was enjoyable, effective, and favorably priced. Dallas, the stylist who cut my hair, was patient yet quick. She knows her way around them scissors. I served her a heap of confusing and conflicting gibberish and she turned it into a low maintenance yet subtly, to me at least, stylish doo. I shall return.

I saw Krystal last month & she exceeded my expectations. I had never been here before but I have clients who go to this salon. I’ve heard nothing but good things. She was nice but also knowledgeable & listened to me. Growing out an asymmetrical cut is not easy but she’s making it a great process. I wasn’t there long but she was still meticulous in her styling. What I loved was they are not product pushers! I look forward to coming back in a few months!

After doing the same thing with my hair for most of my natural born life, I decided I wanted to make a big change and get curly bangs. Merry White listened patiently while I tried to explain what I wanted, and she created exactly that. It was a little weird having hair cover my forehead at first (which Merry warned me about), but its been a couple days now and I love it.One reason why Merry deserves a dozen stars in my book is that she just. cut. my hair. No empty small talk, no product pushing at all. She made me look good and let me space out, and Im grateful.

The whole staff is helpful, patient, friendly, and accommodating. Sam Robinson is my go-to stylist but the other stylists Ive seen (Tony, Merry, Erykah) have been amazing as well. The salon itself is beautiful, simple, cozy, and welcoming all at the same time. I seriously cannot recommend this place enough!

Visited this salon during their fundraising drive for the local SPCA. I had a great stylist and Ill definitely be coming back. She took her time getting to know where I wanted to take my hair direction. The environment was really chill with lots of laughing and plenty of windows.

Had my hair cut and dyed by Sam; it came out beautifully and the whole experience was a great time. The salon is so clean and well kept, the receptionist was welcoming, all of the staff were friendly, and Sam was an honest pleasure to hang out with for a few hours. Circle square is my regular salon, and the dozen or so times Ive gone, Ive never had a bad experience. Drew Bailey is my usual stylist and shes amazing. Just make sure you come early to find parking or have someone drop you off, it can get pretty busy since its in The Fan area.

Ive been coming to circle square for years and Im always impressed by how laid back, knowledgeable, and welcoming everyone Ive interacted with is. Great salon and their spa services cant be passed up.

DO NOT GO TO SAM ROBINSON!Sam Robinson gave me the worst haircut of my life. The day of my appointment, I showed him four pictures of the hairstyle I wanted, one of which was a picture of me back when I had that haircut approximately half a year ago. Despite literally seeing a picture of me with the haircut, he still managed to mess it up. It was also a very easy hairstyle, so I truly cannot understand how he is that incompetent. I came out with the weirdest looking shape due to layers that absolutely made no sense. A month later, the hairstyle is still unsalvageable, and its going to take several months before the shortest layers reach a length that would work with a shoulder length haircut. It is also worth mentioning that I received a shoulder length haircut from Sam. Currently, the shortest layers are about three inches long from my side part, and thats after a month of growing my hair out. Most of the longer layers are three inches shorter than the rest of my shoulder length hair.I will say that the salon did give me a refund the next day, to the tune of $72. I called back and complained the next day because I was the last client of the day I had received my haircut so the salon had closed after I left. I also was unable to see just how atrocious the haircut was until I got home, since Sam did not even finish blow drying my hair. He was clearly trying to rush me out, which is unacceptable given the price I had paid.The salon tried to remedy the haircut, first by bringing me in to have another stylist look at it. Krystal Synkula was entirely unhelpful, as she couldnt tell me what the hairstyle would look like until she had finished with it. There was no way I was going to let anyone at this salon touch my hair without at least having an idea of what the finished product would look like. Essentially, she wanted to cut it shorter, which would have made the growing out process even more difficult. At least I could just barely pull my hair back at this length, with the help of a lot of clips to keep the short layers from falling out. Krystal had an attitude throughout the whole interaction, which was unwarranted and unacceptable given the supposed quality of the salon.Next, I went back into the salon AGAIN on a separate day, after I was implored by them to allow the owner to look at it. Jess Avalon gave me a couple of options, such as cutting it shorter (still a no), adding layers to the other side (Why? So my hair could look awful on both sides?), or a smoothing treatment to help the layers from flipping out in weird ways. I declined the smoothing treatment as I do not like putting chemicals in my hair and I actually quite like the texture of my hair, when I dont have an awful haircut. Jess stated that all of the options would make new issues arise, so I did not see the point in letting her do anything to my hair if it could make it look worse.I appreciate them trying to remedy the situation, but it says a lot when even the master stylist/owner cant fix a haircut that one of their stylists so royally screwed up.

I recently had a facial with Kat and a massage with Nadia and would highly recommend the services of each of them.I had never had a facial before, (I am 67 years old), but Kat was wonderful - she listened carefully and then selected beautiful products to use on my skin. It was glowing for several days afterwards.I have, on the other hand, had many, many massages and Nadia ranks right up there with the best. She is also a wonderful listener, very attentive and responsive to her client and artful at releasing tension with a gentle but well targeted touch. This, in my experience, is an uncommon skill.A lovely bonus is that the environment is beautiful too - when I opened my eyes and looked up at the puffy paper blossoms hanging from the ceiling above the massage table, I just smiled. So simple and sweet!

Mae was wonderful! She restored life back to my curls! Going back next week for color. She is super cool and leister to what I wanted. She even worked with me on scheduling and offered to stay late for my color! Two 👍🏻👍🏻

Krystal Synkula is AMAZING!!!!! I went to Krystal with about a month and a half of growth from bleached blonde looking to tone it down to something more manageable. Krystal sat down with me and we chatted for awhile to figure out which, of the many awesome paths she explained, we would take to get my hair where I wanted it to be. She was patient and kind even when I was indecisive. She worked really hard to make sure everything was amazing!A (very) curly girl, I am always nervous to go to a new person to work with, let alone cut, my hair. After seeing the skill and care with which she took care of my color requests I asked if she could fit in a haircut. I am so stoked that I did that! She gave me the, no kidding, best haircut Ive ever had in my entire life!!!I also called a few days after my initial coloring and asked if it was okay for me to come back in to have it made a little darker. She did an incredible job the first time, I just changed my mind after seeing how skilled and talented she is! She, again, was so patient and worked with me to explain all the options. She, once again, knocked it out of the park. She is super talented, very sweet, and incredibly enjoyable to go spend time with. I highly recommend her to anyone but especially if youve got coveted curls as well- she will make them ROCK!

Best experience at a salon in nearly 10 years. Coming from Northern VA, I hadnt gotten my haircut in several years because the prices up there are so extreme but Circle Square Salon is extremely reasonable (which allows for a generous tip!!). Giving 4 stars because, while I was just a walk in without a preferred stylist, I was desiring a specific look of having hair off the shoulders and my stylist said maybe not and kept it on the longer side. It didnt look great with my thickISH, straightISH hair texture *initially* but now that its had several weeks to grow out, its starting to look great. But...too long....

I love my hair. I love this place. I cant recommend Circle Square enough. Sam is basically magic in person form.

I had a WONDERFUL experience at Circle Square today. To start, the salon is in a great location, and the salon is sparkling clean and has a great artsy aesthetic inside. I called and got an appointment the same day and got a wonderful stylist named Delisa. She took ample time to listen to my concerns, and suggested a style that suited perfectly. Delisa went above and beyond taking extra time to complete my cut to the last detail, and was extremely caring and friendly. Olivia stepped in to help with my blow dry and was also fantastic. The quality of hair products used was also quite high. I got the best cut I have had in years and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Having been to several fan-area salons, I highly recommend this as the BEST hands down. If you are looking for a quality cut at an artsy, boutique-style salon GO HERE!!!

I went here twice for color correction, I just wanted my bleached hair to be all one tone and left the first day with still very uneven hair color. Went back today for them to fix it once again and came back home and still notice my hair is still very uneven in color. It looks like half my head is dark blonde and other half light blonde. Wouldnt advise anyone to go to this salon for color correction at all!! Waste of your hard earned money.

Ive had several experiences with circle square and i cant speak to how professional and easy going everyone is there. i had my hair colored and went back for some fine tuning and everyone that worked with me did a great job. the manager heather was so accomodating, making sure i was comfortable and pleased with the work.. as were the stylists: mae, trish and olivia. coleen is also super sweet and does a great job finishing your hair! definite recommend.

I saw Delissa at Cicle Square and I love my new cut. This was my first time at this salon, and I went in for a fix from another salon. Delissa gave me a great cut and really helped minimize the hack job I got somewhere else. I also really appreciated that she spent plenty of time listening to what I wanted to acheive and discussed the techniques she would employ before we got started. And the best part, the totally reasonable price tag - very competitive with other salons in town.I would highly recommend Circle Square, Ill be going back for sure.
