I was trying to get a Friday order of centipede sod at another local nursery for the entire month of August to no prevail. I then called Elmgrens on a Wednesday and had a pallet of beautiful centipede sod by Friday at 3 PM. They went out of their way helping my dad and I load it on our little trailer. Highly recommend!

Best company in Richmond Hill. The staff is always friendly and helpful and go here all the time. Ive also seen work they do with yard remodels and its just amazing. There are not many options in Richmond Hill, but glad they are located so close to all the communities.

I placed an order for grass 6 days in advance. Showed up the date scheduled for pick up and waited 6 hours, until 3 in the afternoon, for it to be available. It was never communicated that it wouldnt be ready until towards the end of the day. We live a good 40 miles outside of the delivery range so we literally had to kill time waiting for unknown time that the grass would arrive. We paid for 2 pallets of st. Augustine grass. We got all the way home and started laying the grass to find out that it was centipede given to us. Fed up with this company already we didnt even bother calling to get some of our money back for the mistake. We absolutely did not want centipede or else we would have gone somewhere much cheaper to get it. Now were stuck with it. Total inconvenience all the way around.

Greg just went out of his way to help me locate a specific product that he doesn’t carry at his shop. Really appreciate the customer care.

We had Elmgrens build us a retaining wall and fire pit in the back yard, and we couldnt be happier. Greg, the office staff, and the workers were all incredibly professional, nice, and helpful. Greg really knows his stuff, and kept us in the loop with every aspect of the project. He was able to come out and give us an estimate and great advice the same day we went in, and he started the work as soon as we made our final decisions. I highly recommend Elmgrens, and we will definitely be back for more work.

We had an extensive yard project. Our entire front yard had been excavated because of septic issues. Mr. Greg and his crew rebuilt our irrigation system, re-sodded our yard, and replaced all of the trees that were taken out. They also laid a new paver border around our flower beds. He definitely knows his stuff when it comes to landscaping. He kept us in the loop the whole time and his crew is timely and professional. Would highly recommend to anyone needing landscaping. Moving from the Northeast to Richmond Hill, we wanted to transform our outside property with replacement and new vegetation, that was colorful, bright, and blended with our neighborhood. The plotting, planning, and changes, provided us with a beautiful, pleasing, soothing and enjoyable outdoor living space. Kudos to Greg and his team for the wonderful work on our property.

I was searching for greenery to use as a distraction from my land and the construction on 144 but on my way turning in to Elmgrens I saw a big Trump sign in the middle of their business. Everyone has a right to their beliefs but when you put it out on display it can dissuade customers. This was my experience, I left and went to another local nursery and spent $800.

I recently had the pleasure of using Elmgren Services’ professional services for the design and installation of pavers and landscaping for my backyard area.What started out as a simple visit to his gardening and landscaping business to view planters resulted in a path to finalize my backyard area renovation. Within a very short period of time, Gregs design expertise helped me select the paver design (i.e., material, colors, and pattern) and preliminary landscaping concepts.During the paver installation work, each morning his paver installation team welcomed me with a friendly smile, they consistently demonstrated positive attitude, they frequently sought my feedback on how their work was progressing, and each evening ensured the work area was organized and clean. Within a relatively short period of time, the paver project was completed in a professional manner.Predicated upon his teams quality work and Gregs frequent site visits, I decided to award Elmgren Services the design and plant selection for the backyard landscaping.I found Greg and his team to be professional and friendly. At multiple points during both projects they sought my review and approval of their work. The work was performed in a quality, professional manner, and not only was completed on time, plus completed within my budget!Best of all was Gregs personal involvement; his visionary planning and design concepts / options, his frequent site visits allowed me to adjust the landscaping plan (plant arrangements, selections, and choices to ensure color during the seasons), and constantly stayed in communication.

We had an excellent experience with Greg and his crew. They were responsive, professional and prompt. We had a large crepe myrtle transplanted, sprinkler relocated and flower bed made into a beautiful patio. Would definitely use them again and recommend.

Ordered sod, was told by two people it would be in on Tuesday. Went by Wednesday morning to pick it up and they didnt have it. When I asked where it was, the lady, which was one of the two people that did the order, acted like she didnt know anything about it. She said she would call the owner, who was the other person I spoke with when placing the order, and call me right back. Six hours later I called and the owner was rude and told me I could just go buy it somewhere else. I did, I ordered 21 pallets from someone else. So much for supporting local businesses.

Thank you Greg and crew. We love our updated front yard. We added mulch and rocks. Greg created exactly what we asked for. He planted some coreopsis I had purchased and advised me how to care for them. He recommended choices for palm trees that were nontoxic to dogs, which was a concern of mine. He then placed and planted 2 European fan palms for us. Greg was timely and professional. He ensured that our decisions for placement, choice of materials, and design were current and appropriate for our home and yard. We think it looks awesome!

I met Greg 5 years ago when my husband and I built our home here in Richmond Hill. We told him our visions on the landscape and he far exceeded our expectations. We have continued working with him on many other projects since then as well as maintenance to keep all his hard work beautiful. We value his experience and expertise and most of all his friendship.

Well Google once again deleted my veryHONEST review. So here we go again. This guy is a price gouger. He preys on the ignorance of others to sky rocket his paver installation fee (labor only). He quoted me a price ($11.50 per sq ft) then what I had them installed for. I paid ($3.16 a sq ft). He then responded in a silly attempt to discredit my contractor that has been in business for 19 years. Please shop around and dont get taken advantage of.8-20-20 Response to the owners response:Please stop your silliness. Youve been called out with the truth and the facts learn to cope. I called 5 different paver contractors for quotes before I started this project. You quoted a price at $11.50 per sq ft for labor only. The next highest quote I received was $9.50 per sq ft. the other 2 were in the $3.00 range and one never called me back. The contractor I picked installed the pavers for $3.16 per sq ft. He has owned and operated his business for 19 years. They installed 540 sq ft of pavers in 7 hrs and did a wonderful job. I have since referred him to 8 other friends and family.The difference between what you quoted and what I actually paid for is $8.34 per sq ft. So the math says if I would have used you the job would have cost me an additional $4503.60.Im not the one smearing your business youre doing to yourself with your very exaggerated opinion of your work. You are correct, you and I have never done business together and I can promise you...we never will.

We were delighted with the unparalleled customer service we received during our visit. Greg Elmgren is knowledgeable and provided us with excellent suggestions for landscaping our new home. If youre needing landscape guidance and a place to get trees, shrubbery, flowers, sod and all of the materials that go with them, you MUST GO to Elmgrens. The prices are extremely fair and again, the customer service could not be better. We have become regulars after the first visit.

Elmgren’s has been our family garden consultant since we relocated to Richmond Hill four years ago. Recommended to us by my parents (Greg had done much to help my Mom get her yard just the way she liked it), he felt like old family friend with a green thumb, right from the start. We needed a lot of advice on plant selection, since we are so new to the coastal region and are on the salt marsh. The plants we have gotten from Elmgren’s have all done great. Greg’s advice for the care of our existing Camellias and Azaleas has really helped us keep and improve our garden. Most recently Elmgren’s installed new centipede sod around a construction project. They were cheaper than the others we called and the job was done quickly. Our yard looks so much better now! It has been in for almost a month and Greg has followed up on the installation and inquired about any concerns. We couldn’t be happier with our nursery consultant.

We have been using Elmgrens Services for the past year. Our garden was in poor shape when Gregg and his team took on the project. The weeds were out of control and nothing seemed to be growing like it should.We knew it would not be an overnight fix.With the great advice we have received and a really amazing crew that to date has not missed a week of service rain or shine, our garden is looking amazing. Elmgrens did an amazing job getting rid of the bushes my wife couldnt stand and pine straw and replacing them with smaller bushes, beautiful mulch and a stone boarder. A+ work. Happy wife = Happy Life. Thanks for the beautiful work and great staff.

My husband and I decided to give our front yard a much needed remodel. I went to Elmgrens and purchased some boxwood shrubs as well as set up delivery for 30 bales of straw. After leaving, my father volunteered to drive 60 miles here to help me get the straw since we dont own a pickup truck. I called back and spoke to the associate that I would need to cancel my order entirely since my dad wouldnt arrive until after they closed and we would get the straw from another local company that would be open the next day (Sunday). She didnt want to lose my business so she informed me that we could come by after hours to pick it up. Once my dad arrive, we came to get the 30 bales of straw that I purchased. We saw a black SUV pull up so I initially thought it was an employee coming to help us. To my surprise it was the owner informing us that the POLICE were on their way. I explained to him what the employee told me, he proceeded to check the books, confirmed my purchase. The police arrived and he told him that everything was fine. He didnt offer to help us load the straw on the truck which I thought would have been the least he could do after the situation.On Monday, I returned to get a refund on the delivery charge and the owner struck me as being rude and unwelcoming. Not the impression I expected to get when he almost had a paying customer arrested due to a lack of communication between hin and his employee. He didnt even apologize or offer a discount for the horrible experience. Not to mention that the employee never gave me a receipt because the printer was down so God know what would have happened if the police had arrived before the owner could verify my purchase. I spent nearly $300 at his business and was very disappointed in the way he handled the situation. Overall, I will be taking my business where Im appreciated and will not be returning or referring anyone.

Im beyond words with my experience with this profesional place! Excellent costumer service and fast, excellent delivery, excellent planting. The guys that planted the trees, very much know their job, plus very respectful and nice people, They made it so easy for me in every aspect.Not only that, I wanted 2 crepe myrtle, big zize and in a very particular color: magic purple ( not too easy to find) but ELMGRENS found it for me.! This place just make your dreams come true. Thanks ELMGRENS!

We had a great experience with greg, his staff, and the crew who came out to put in our cobble stone pavers. Greg was very professional and helpful, taking extra time out of his schedule to explain the sprinkler system and electronics in our new home.He took the added care in explaining products and genuinely cares that the customer was happy while also explaining the pros and cons of each type of stone, and design choice. This enabled my wife and I to make an informed decision.From consultation to clean up the service was fast, courteous, and professional. There was never a degradation of service between crews. Greg has done a phenomal job of hiring staff and crews that share his personable business model. The actual project was fantastic and looks even better than we imagined.* updated from 9 months ago and after two more projects, We have now used Elmgren’s for three separate projects. Two patio areas and one landscape project. Greg is truly a professional and Elmgren’s remains consistent with the original review with their service. The standard in my opinion is high. Greg consistently consults and walks through the job and is no pressure. If you are in the market for landscaping Elmgren’s offers great service with a great team. I would advise against this company. After miscommunications and delays, the job was finally completed on May 23, 2014 after the initial start date of 6 May. I found myself in utter shock when the work was “complete.”First, and most important, the crew never informed me when the job was done. They just left. I was under the impression they were leaving to get more mulch to finish the job. However, they never returned.Now, the job itself was not anywhere near what I was expecting. Starting in the back yard, I have what can only be described at two different grasses. I ordered centipede but I now seem to have a mixture of St. Augustine and centipede that looks absolution ridiculous when it grows out. Next, there are still patches in the back yard that I would have preferred sod placed. However, with no final checkout, I was unable to request it.Moving to the front yard, my main request was a reduction in size of the pine straw circle surrounding my tree, giving me more yard space. The crew removed the pine straw but failed to backfill with any dirt. Thus, when the sod was placed, it created a large and noticeable depression in the yard. Moreover, the requested two-foot circle around the tree (to be filled with the mulch I thought they left to get) was more of a three-foot un-leveled egg shaped dirt spot.After it became apparent the crew was not returning I called the company to find out what was going on and express my dissatisfaction. I did receive a verbal apology but the apology did little to correct the problem. I proceeded to email the company on May 30th with pictures of the job and again on June 3rd. In the June 3rd email I requested the owner to please come and look at the job so I could point out the problems.I have received no response to my emails. I, as the customer, have expressed dissatisfaction and have even requested the owner to come and look at the job but have been ignored. Sadly, I have already paid my invoices in full. I now feel my only options are this review and to contact the Better Business Bureau.
