We called the basement doctor and asked them to come out and look at two crawl spaces that we were concerned about. The woman I spoke to on the phone was helpful and courteous. She got us scheduled for Monday August 9th and said to allow 60/90 minutes for the inspection. She also clarified that the inspector would be able to enter both crawl spaces.Robert came out on Monday afternoon. He was at our house for around 10 minutes. He glanced in both crawl spaces but didn’t go in either one. He looked outside the house briefly as well. He said he understood the issue and would send us a quote shortly. We never heard back from him. I reached out to him on Thursday the 12th to follow up about the quote and again never heard back.Given the positive reviews for this company we were very disappointed by the lack of professionalism and seeming disinterest in our business.

I had an egress window and dehumidifier put in my basement. The Basement Doctor team that did the construction/installation were professional, competent and courteous. I told the lead worker (J.Read) that I rate the work as 10 out of 10. This is the second time Ive used the Basement Doctor. The first time was six years ago when the Basement Doctor did my basement waterproofing. Im still very happy with the waterproofing work they did. Aaron and his crew were here in late May to brace two walls in my crawlspace and to install a couple glass block windows. They were here when they said they would be and worked hard for several days to complete the project. The job was well done and they did a nice job of cleaning as they left.

We called the Basement Doctor to repair a leak in one of our basement walls. Scott Lee arrived at our house to make an assessment and provide an estimate. We decided to not only have Basement Doctor repair the wall but also install a window well for our backyard basement window. Santos Calderon was assigned our job. He performed a preliminary job inspection two days prior and then arrived on time on the scheduled day to do the work. The finished project is awesome. The hole in the wall is securely repaired from both the inside and outside and the window well looks great. We are very pleased with the end product. Both Scott and Santos were very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Each performed his job well. In our present climate, both acknowledged the precautions they are taking to keep themselves and the customers’ safe and more importantly, each followed them while on the job at our home. We would recommend using the Basement Doctor for leak issues in a basement or if you need window wells installed.

Basement Doctor came out and assessed my basement. I asked to be able to finish it if I want to. It’s always been leaky and damp. They water proofed it and replaced the basement windows. There is no more odor, the immediate temperature change of the basement was unbelievable. I used to have to leave every light on in the basement to keep from being scared as to what was down there. NO MORE. We just got our basement crawl spaces encapsulated with Basement Doctor. Charlie was our second quote. The first from a competitor and the 3rd was scheduled after Charlie came out. Had my basement waterproofed (perimeter drains, walls sanded and painted, new sump pump, 6 block windows and new lines from the downspouts to the street. Gary, Jacob and Travis did an excellent job. They showed up each day when they said, wore masks, were very polite and cleaned up each day. Gary clearly cares about doing good work and made a change to address a floor drain issue. Besides doing good work, they all seem to really enjoy their jobs and working w each other. They have a positive, fun vibe and I appreciated that, since they were at my house for 5 days. I am happy I choose The Basement Doctor to do the work and I would recommend them. The price for this type of work is generally high, but I feel much better about my basement now, so I’m okay with the cost.

The technician, Velmon, is not only smart, but more importantly honest. By extension, Basement Doctor has earned my trust. See below!Situation: Basement flooded due to sump pump failure. Initially, Velmon suggested the sump pump might be bad but said hed need to dry up the area a little bit to look closer. He said if it is bad, itd be a good chunk of money to replace it, and a good chunk to replace the battery backup, which also failed to work.Result: Ten minutes later, he comes back up and says the sump pump had been unplugged, probably because of the outlets angle. He replugged in the sump pump which started to work, and did need to replace the battery backup. He then used zip ties to keep the plugs in place. That illustrates intelligence.Conclusion: The unplugged-in sump pump being the problem is the crucial point, because since I didnt know what I was looking at, he could easily have said both the pump and the battery were bad, and I would never have known, and his BD manager would see a bigger customer billing and never have known either. And that illustrates integrity.Bravo, Velmon and Basement Doctor. Bravo!

The Basement Doctor did exactly what they said they would, on time (actually, finished ahead of time). Work was spotless, excellent cleanup, always updating us on the progress of the work, and offered any help we might need after all was done. We had a couple of other basement companies come in for an estimate. We felt The Basement Doctor actually listened to what we needed done, and offered common sense solutions, not systems. We signed a contract on May 5 to scarify the walls to prep for epoxy finish, put in a new drain tile, and a dehumidifier with a designated outlet. Work was done on June 4 and 5 (took about 8 hours total). The men were professional and cleaned up well. I had a problem with the look of the epoxy finish. The foreman agreed with me (early June) that it needed to be reapplied. That work was not scheduled until Aug.7. That morning after my husband had delayed a knee surgery and taken off work, they called to cancel saying that maybe it really needed 2 days not 1 ( found out that they also just happened to need to finish up another job - they already had our money). Job was rescheduled again for Aug 26. They did try to make me happy by having someone come out and touch up some bad spots and left me with a kit for repairs.....only because I suggested they refund some money for the delay. I was told that the epoxy is not considered to be a finish yet the picture they show you looks like it is! From what I understand, you arent suposed to paint over it either. If you have any problems, be prepared to wait, your schedule doesnt matter.

This is the second time we engaged Basement Doctor to resolve a second failing, cracking 1925 poured foundation wall.Since our first experience in 2003 on our driveway side, the Basement Doctor enhanced their service and warranty by also installing I-beams inside the new concrete block walls for ongoing support.The foreman, Justin, and two person crew were prompt, worked long hours and took great care to protect our home from dust and even planted fine quality grass on topsoil once the front exterior wall was back filled and completed.Our only concern has been a gap left at ground level between our brick exterior and the new blue board insulated basement wall, which had been a part of their service in 2003 to finish that gap with stamped concrete to look like brick.

The basement still dry !! BUT. They stole my two month old sump pump. When I called them they said I could come get it. Got it home only to find a big hole in the float.I say stole because they shoved it out the basement window. Tools, dirt, gravel, pipes, the new sump pump came in and out the front door. Its been years ago, just had to get it off my chest and warn others.BD. No need to reply.

Basement Doctor did a great job epoxy sealing the walls in my basement. The cinderblock walls were partially covered with stucco, which had to be removed before the epoxy could be applied. Removing stucco is a pretty daunting task, but Basement Doctor put enough resources and workers on the job to grind it all off and get the walls sealed properly.

5x5 wet area in basement. $7000 for a new sump pump. My wet area is bigger than ever before. They don’t know how to fix it. They are terrible at remembering you after they have your money. But the crew was nice.

Great job from start to finish! I called The Basement Doctor after learning that I needed a cracked, cement block wall repaired before a building contractor could begin work to remodel our family rec room in our basement. Greg arrived first to assess/determine the work needed. Zach, Matt, and Christian arrived two days later to perform the work. They sealed off the work area with plastic sheeting, removed the old wall coating/sealant that I had put on the wall years ago, installed 4 beams to stabilize the wall, and then properly sealed the wall. Their job complete, the three cleaned up the work area and removed the sheeting and their tools. And, when they left, the only reminder as to their presence was my newly-repaired wall. My building contractor can now begin his remodel on time. Greg, Zach, Matt and Christian are very knowledgeable and meticulous in their work, and I would not hesitate to call upon their skills again for any future projects.

These guys are absolutely fantastic. Jameson and his crew were absolute professionals. They came in, did the job, and left. They were extremely friendly and willing to answer all of our questions.We HAD some pretty severe foundation issues. The fix included installing piers and pillars. We also had them install a new downspout drain, and encapsulate our crawl space. This only took them about 3.5 days.My wife and I are extremely happy with the work they did for us.Side note: I highly recommended a crawl space encapsulation. Its noticeably improved the air quality in our house and as a bonus we have extra storage space.

Was lied to and the job wasn’t done. Decided to go somewhere else after getting the run around for a few months and ended up saving so much money because it’s actually a job we can fix and not pay someone else. Was glad we decided to go with a more professional and well known contractor.

We had the Basement Doctor come out because a sump pump system that they had installed 5 years ago was beeping every once in a while. The system was working fine. The repairman came out and replaced the entire system.The charge was $1,129. I thought this was outrages but my husband who is suffering with brain cancer told him to go ahead without consulting me. A few weeks later we saw the exact same system (including the same brand) for $99.99. I know that does not include labor but we were charged an outrageous price. I think we were taken advantage of.

Problems with confirming scheduling, but otherwise a pleasant experience

The Basement Doctor sales representative tried to charge us $66,000 saying our house was falling down a slope. They used fear tactics and sales tactics to try to get us to 1) Not get quotes from and distrust all other basement companies and 2) To make sure both decision makes in the home were in the room while doing their pitch to have the greatest chance their manipulative tactics would work on us. Basement Doctor wanted to put 22 piers under our foundation. Their 66k quote did not include fixing or shoring up the basement wall that was about to collapse.A structural engineer and 2 other basement companies told us the structural issues were due to settling and NOT sliding down a slope. We were quoted $7500 and $8500 by the two other company respectively to shore up all basement walls that were no longer structurally sound. Neither of these companies tried to scare us away from getting second or third opinions from other companies and neither used fear tactics or forced both decision makers to be present when giving the quotes. In the end, we went with Ohio Basement Authority because of their lifetime warranty. Our basement structural issues are now fixed. Its been 2 years since those issues were fixed and we have had zero issues with further cracking of the basement walls or further settling.I waited a couple years to write this review because I know basemenr doctor will respond saying that those companies didnt do a good job and we will have more structural issues in the future. How do I know this? Because they said those exact things while trying to scare the living daylights out of us during their high pressure sales presentation. We are very happy with the job Ohio Basement Authority did and the lifetime warranty we can transfer to any future owner of our home. My experience with Basement Doctor did motivate me to start my own house remodeling business because I saw just how many dishonest companies are out there who want to scare homeowners into paying way too much for work they dont need.I ended up paying 1/10th the price Basement Doctor quoted us for amazing work. Save yourself 90% and go with a different basement company. There ARE good basement companies out there and it is wise to get at least 3 quotes before deciding which company to go with. Basement Doctor is NOT the company I would trust with my money. Remember, at no point did their quote include the work that actually needed done in our basement. We would have paid 1/3rd what we paid for the house and STILL had the same structural issues when they completed the work. I cannot recommend Basement Doctor.

The difference in knowledge, caring, and practicality between the Project Manager The Basement Doctor sent me and the Certified Inspector sent to me by their leading competitor, was seriously palpable.

Basement Dr. put in a new gutter drain line which was difficult due to heavy landscaping including trees, bushes, plants and rock walls. They worked with me on all my concerns and were able to preserve my landscaping while installing the drain pipe from the back of the house to the front garden bed.

After experiencing water coming through our basement wall, we called to schedule a consultation. The gentleman that came was very polite and professional. In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, he was wearing shoe covers, a mask, and gloves. He was very cautious not to touch anything or stand too close. He proposed an idea of what needed to be done to repair the leak and to prevent water from backing up in the future for around $2k. I was to receive it in writing by email, which I would sign electronically before being put on the schedule to begin work. All was great, but I never heard back from him to sign any paperwork. After several days, I called the office and asked if everything was ok, and to ensure that they had my correct email address. The receptionist assured me I would hear from him within 48 hours. I never heard from him or the office. We called a contractor who repaired the wall for $125.

We had a sump pump install and basement seal late last year and have had to call 3 times to have someone come back out.The drainage and sealing required our water softener to be moved and then put back into place. Its been leaking ever sense. Had them out twice for that and its still not fixed. Water on my laundry room floor every single day.The electrician had to mess with the fuse box when installing the new sump pump. Dont know what he did but every time the new pump kicked out the breaker switch for our kitchen outlets would flip off. Came back out and fixed it. Two weeks later half the sockets in our kitchen quit working altogether. My wife called and the guy who is in charge of the electrical work for the company basically told her its not their problem. Come last month when the weather started getting nicer, we discovered that not only do half of the sockets in our kitchen not work, still, but absolutely none of the outlets on our detached garage work either.The idea is to fix problems but they make it pretty obvious that theyre only there for one thing and will fight tooth and nail not to be held liable for anything else. Called to get the water out of my basement - its still there and now half my sockets dont work... thanks guys awesome freakin work...

I never got around to writing a review for this company. I had them encapsulate my crawlspace which is a fairly sizable job. Credit is due to this company. They did an amazing job. I have had to hire various companies to do different jobs on my home. Some do well, and some dont. Basement doctor is rated high on my list.From start to finish they did an amazing job. First, they were willing to work around my schedule to provide an initial estimate on site. I had another company I was comparing with that was already arriving that day. They were willing to work for the business and came late after the other company left. I had a good experience and had all the information at my disposal to make a decision between the two companies.The great service did not stop with just making a sale. The results of the crawl space were amazing. They met and exceeded expectations. The installers were great. Very polite and professional. I cant recommend them enough.

We had Charlie out to consult with us about some water issues we had with our cellar. We have a older home (1880s) and wanted a professional opinion on what we could do to fix our issues, if anything. After out initial consult, The representative told us that the leaks were most likely coming from the old windows. We agreed to have them replace, as well as to have some supports added in the crawlspace,and a beam that had cracked to be sistered. Initial work went well, but after our first big rain, we noticed that water was not lessened, but actually was letting more in. We also discovered that while they were working, they unplugged our deep freezer and did not replug it in, causing us to lose the contents, spoil and need severe deep cleaning. I personally reached out to Charlie, our project manager several times, with only one response saying he would send a tech to look at it. After being ghosted, I called the company and left a complaint, to which I was told it would be taken care of. Also no response. I would not advise doing work with them. It looks as though unless it is a job that they can make just a quick buck on, they are not interested in customer satisfaction. Very disappointed.

Lets just say we needed a response and do to recent rains waited til they caught up on their emergencies. But when they called back to schedule us we found ourselves in need!They responded quickly, evaluated problems, estimated repairs on site and tentatively scheduled us. They took quick action to allevate the immediate problem while on site, then put us on there schedule for a long term repair.Long term repairs done on schedule, on time, with great service provided.Thanks go out to the crew that worked on our problem and resolved it.

Wes came to do an estimate/consultation for our basement. He was super nice and straightforward. He told us the water coming in our basement was due to our downspouts being too close to our house, and that we didnt have any mold. He recommended we underground our drains to the street and didnt even try to sell us anything. Id definitely recommend these guys based on their no pressure style and knowledgeable staff.

I was really looking forward to them coming out to look at our basement. The review and products look great. However, I scheduled an appointment a month in advance and had to use my last day off from work. I get a call about 12 hours before my appointment saying they MAY not be able to make it. So, I still have to plan on using my last vacation day. Then about an hour after they were suppose to show up they call and cancel. We reschedule for an evening since I no longer have time off work. They call at 9 am, on the rescheduled day, and say they will be there in an hour. Well I tell them that is not the time we decided and they act like it is no big deal and just tell me to pick a new time. So customer service and reliability seem very poor. Hope other have had better experiences.

After buying and moving into our house (built in 75) we had constant water issues outdoor and indoor. We looked at 4 different companies, including The Basement Doctor, reviewing indoor and outdoor fixes. Each one ranged in price from $15k-$25k, Theres no one package fix for everything and what we had to do might not be the solution that someone else would have to pick.That being said we reviewed each proposal and even though we went with a more expensive solution, it was worth it in the end so far. Scott Lee (Sales Associate) and Scott Freeland (Job Foreman) were two people that helped make it an easier decision picking a company, but also to help justify the cost/value of the job. They both were technically sound, offered options in the solutions recommended and when they didnt know they got me the answers in a reasonable time frame.I was impressed with the level of detail from both of these guys. Not only showing visuals of what the options were, but the documentation was simple and straightforward, and the end resulting work was done meticulously with a detailed oriented mindset.Digging up inner foundation is not a clean operation, and I was originally concerned with my pregnant wife and 1.5 year old child being in the home during the week of the work. There was minimal dust and what dust did accumulate, they took precautions to keep it form getting up stairs and did a great job cleaning up the everything when done.In the end I would recommend The Basement Doctor and their services.

I am a new homeowner and my basement wall seemed a little bowed and cracked. I wasnt sure if it needed major work or something minor. Wes came out and assured me it wasnt anything to worry about. He gave me the peace of mind I needed.EDIT: One year later I had another concern with bowing in a different area in my basement so I gave them another call. Jim was able to give an estimate the next day. He recommended supports should be added to this area and I was able to schedule the job within a couple weeks. Santos finished the work in a matter of hours. Extremely professional, friendly, no mess to clean up, everything looks great and Im confident my wall is secure. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I have a crack in my basement wall, basement Doctor rep who was respectful and nice came out and was totally honest and recommend for me to seal it myself with a $20 epoxy instead of a $1800 repair. I trust the basement Doctor and totally recommend them to anyone with basement issues. Thanks guys.

I had a new drain pipe installed from my home gutters to the street. Santos from the Basement Doctor did a fantastic job. He hand dug the drain line to make less mess than using a trencher. He laid down plastic along the trench to put the dirt and sod on, placed the dirt and sod back in place and cleaned up everything when he was finished. After he left you could hardly tell he had been there. You could tell he loved his job and wanted to please the customer. Im very please with Santos!
