Used cars, but much cheaper, depending on flight arrival, they pick you up at the airport. Quick and efficient friendly customer service.
We rented a vehicle from the Reno NV center. Highly recommend them. The prices are extremely reasonable. The vehicle ran fine. It only had a few dings in it, made us fit right in and not stand out. The staff is friendly. They worked with us on the car drop off since our flight left very early in the morning. Give them a chance, they will do you right.
Not gonna lie, when I arrived at the airport and all the other rental agencies were on site and this one wasn’t, I was really peeved. However, you call their office and they come and pick you up in the car that your going to rent (so you don’t have to transfer your luggage). I waited less time than it would have taken to get through the lines at the airport rentals, and check in/out was quick. Employees were all really nice too. And if you’re wondering what kind of “wreck” you’re renting, we had a 5 year old Subaru that was nice. The other cars in their parking lot didn’t look bad either.
Had a great experience was this place! I was a bit hesitant, for obvious reasons, but they were about $200 cheaper than any other option I found online. So glad I went with them! The female employee was lovely to work with, the car was a Subaru and was so perfect for the Tahoe area. Am absolutely renting from them again!

The staff that work here are amazing! If I ever have an issue with my car or anything comes up in life when I need a spare car, Rent a Wreck is always there for me. My calls are always returned quickly and Dawn and Jerry are a pleasure to deal with. I have recommended them to numerous friends and family and they always come back satisfied with everything handled promptly and they love the prices they get quoted. I would highly recommend anyone and everyone visiting Reno/Tahoe area calls Rent a Wreck next time they visit, even if you are a local and need a car give them a call.
These folks were absolutely STELLAR!!! From day one they were polite, friendly, and easy to work with. I needed the car for a longer time and they gave me options for weekly and monthly prices. I was able to just call and get another week over the phone. Even after being hit by someone in the rental (their fault), they didnt panic, working with the insurance was a snap. All around a FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE and we will DEFINITELY use them again!!!! Thank you guys so much!

Took a look here for a rental as I was flying into town... theres no money to be saved here at all. Budget was $40 less... Youd expect a smaller out of the way place to have better rates... Nope. Just stay at the airport.
I have never even thought of writing a review for a car rental company before, but this location did such a great job I wanted to give them some kudos! My family and I were on vacation visiting Tahoe with our 9 year old twins, who are special needs kids. The airport pick up was prompt and the manager who came to pick uus up, Jerry was so nice to us and our kids. He had cold bottles of water for us waiting in the shuttle van and suggested a great restaurant for dinner. The best part was the gentle way he treated our twins, making them feel comfortable and happy. The rental worked out great, we saved some money and we made a friend in Reno. I reserved a vehicle through the website and received a confirmation email immediately. Thirty minutes later the local office sent an email informing me that my reservation had been canceled because they didnt have the vehicle I wanted. I called the Reno office to see if we could resolve the problem and the person I spoke with was short with me and rude. I then contacted the corporate office and was told they would help fix the problem. I took them at their word and waited to make other plans. That was a mistake. I thought they would secure another vehicle for me, like other rental company had done for me before, but instead they strung me along for a few days and then told me I needed to handle it myself with the local office. Once again I tried contacting the local office but they were uninterested in helping. By this time the price of renting a vehicle through a reputable business had increased significantly. Save yourself some time, money, and frustration. Rent from someone else.
They falsely accused us of causing damage to the car which did not exist when we returned it. Then they took our friend outside after accepting the car and showed “damage” (clearly underhanded) or two easily removable dents. They produced one estimate for over $1400 as if they had to replace the entire hatch back (on a 67,000+ car), and then tried to charge us for over a week of “lost business days”. If you are going to rent here, make sure you already have a lawyer. Fortunately we did.

In my opinion the Worst place to every rent a car. I had an experience which i felt was highly unprofessional make sure you read your entire contract because in their contract it states that if there is an act of God you are required to pay for their vehicle to be replaced. I personally feel it was a horrible rental experience. Please dont make the same mistake I did it cost me almost 3 times the amount i paid up front. There were details in my contract that were not explained to me. But because I signed a contract they dismissed all the evidence and information I provided showing things were not explained to me. In my opinion please go with a different company its not worth the hassle or complications i feel. I even talked to corporate and they said theres nothing they can do because its a franchise. Please dont waste your time.
Despite the fact that their online stated policy explicitly states that a $75 fee will be charged if cancellation occurs *MORE THAN* 48 HOURS following the originally scheduled pickup time, they STILL CHARGED ME THIS FEE (based on my online bank statement) even though I went in to their office and cancelled the vehicle within 20 MINUTES of my originally scheduled pickup. Clearly, this outfit will cheat its customers any way it can, based on this experience plus some of the other negative reviews. Will never do business with this or any Rent-A-Wreck outlet again.
I have rented from several locations of rent a wreck and have had GREAT service, But not in Reno Nevada. I made my reservation one week in advance with my card at which time I asked if my card would be charged the lady stated that it would not be charged until I pickup up the car .On the following Saturday I called in to let them know that my reservation was for 12:00 but I would not be in until 2:30 pm they told me they were open to 3:00pm and they would be there.I arrived at 2:30pm, only to find the facility closed . I called the company and the manager answered and told me that they cancelled my reservation and that they had charged me 10.90 for some reason that he could not explain. But he did tell me he did not have a van and then hung up the phone. At this point I had to rent a an from Advantage ( which I would recommend ) after the Manager at Rent a Wreck pulls the same stunt on you.Even after calling back several days later, to ask them to reverse the 10.90 charge I was told that they did not charge my card but it is on my card as paid . I did ask him why would you leave early and not wait on a customer that had a reservation and had called to confirm that I was coming in, his response was that is what a lot of you people do and proceeded hang up the phone once again .PROCEED AT YOUR ON RISK RENTING FROM THIS LOCATION, YOU PEOPLE !!
Just rented a van for a week and had a very good experience. They picked me up from the airport and dropped me off with only a 5 minute wait each time. The car wasnt brand new, but wasnt expecting it to be considering the economy price compared to the typical rental companies.

I rented a van from these guys for a ski trip to Tahoe & bought the insurance - its called a Collection Damage Waiver. Anyhow I had a fender-bender coming back from one of the ski basins during a blizzard, and later received a bill for $2,500! Im estimating this is about 10 times the amount of the damage done to the vehicle. They said the collection damage waiver is void for some insignificant reason. These guys are crooks posing as a car rental agency. Dont be fooled by their low prices - theyre going to try to steal the money back from you later!
I am in the process of fighting for my money back from these horrible, smile-in-your-face crooks! I had reserved a minivan over a month in advance explaining I had adult children and a young autistic child joining us. It was imperative the vehicle was safe, and had chains for heading up to our timeshare in Tahoe. $30 for chains was fair I thought. The evening we headed for Tahoe, we stopped where we were required to put on chains, it was snowing steadily. A professional stopped to help, advising us the chains were in noxeay the correct ones fir the vehicle. He helped get them on as best as he could, told us to drive no more than 12 MPH, and hope we make it! We got to resort with 1 broken chain, and 1 on the left wheel. We couldnt make the hill to the office. Had to park downhill and carry necessary items uphill for the nite, with over $600 of groceries and most personal items had to stay in car. Next day was Christmas, Rent A Wreck wasnt open. I called the folling day explaining we cannot legally or safely drive vehicle. Dawn offered to pick it up and refund us. I asked her to make sure she emailed me when credit was complete. I later checked my email, she charged us 3 days, an Abandonment Fee, fuel totalling over $600 for an unsafe vehicle we could not use!!! I am disputing this charge with my credit card co., notifying BBB, and my lawyer. I have all documentation ready to go!! Do not rent from these losers. If you like being smiled at, promised safety, and screwed when you are put in danger, this is your company!
To Gerry of Rent a Wreck of Reno on 295 Gentry Way #6, Reno NV. 09/08/08I made a reservation to rent a car from Rent a Wreck of Reno for seven days. When trying to decide if we should rent elsewhere, we called them to discuss our options. We told them we would call them right back with our final decision. When we called a few minutes later, we told the manager, Jerry, that we would go ahead and keep our reservation, but he had already charged us a cancellation fee, and we did not know it until our Visa bill came. He charged the rental to our Mastercard.I have tried to call Rent a Wreck of Reno for several weeks. Once, I reached Jerry, but when I told him that I had been charged a cancellation fee, he said he had to get back to me later. Now, he will not answer the phone at all, and it is supposed to be a legitimate business, but after renting there, my husband said it was quite a backwards operation. We would just like the fifty dollar cancellation fee returned to us, since we did go ahead and keep our part of the bargain and rented the car.We have filed a BBB case against you. On the phone I was told I had to reserve an SUV to guarantee a vehicle with four wheel drive, so I did, only to arrive and be told they couldnt guarantee I was going to get a four wheel drive. Typical car rental nonsensery
