Portofino Hotel wedding experience presented and produced by Sheena Persichina was exceptional from the first introduction. Sheena’s enthusiasm and personal interest captured us right away! She guided us through every decision, sequence, step and timing of our wedding.Communication moved swiftly and flawlessly. She was always available for our every question and need. From the beauty of the rooms, to the beauty of the Sea Lawn ceremony site, to the exquisite night on the Terrace reception we could not have asked for more. Sheena’s staff deserves particular credit! The team setting up on the day of the wedding said yes to every detail request, never once hesitating to fulfill my needs. The servers were meticulous in their thoughtfulness, care, and enthusiasm! All of the staffing, in all parts of the hotel and Baleen Restaurant, were exceptional, everyone working who we encountered was fun, and a joy. Particular mention to the Night Auditor, Antoinette, who accommodated a 2 am check-in perfectly. Sheena herself helped me above and beyond at the conclusion with flower re-purposing! Teamwork by the staff is what I will remember.I am grateful for the fun wedding our family had at the Portofino Hotel.

Honestly was expecting a lot better hotel for the price. The front desk I found rude and condescending. The first room we were giving smelt like animal urine. We moved to another room similar smell but not as bad. Wifi is unusable want able to syncs phones etc. Parking an entrance situation is a little weird, bed is comfortable, shower curtains are dirty and stained, you can hear everything from the other rooms also.

The rooms are very small for the price you pay and no special amenities offer. Spend the night here day prior to our wedding event at Portofino Hotel and I was expecting a better luxurious experience for the price we paid. The ocean view is mostly breakwater rocks and harbor. The hallways smell like smoke a lot which is not cool when booked for non-smoking room. This place has a lot of potential but has yet to reach it.

My stay was excellent at Portofino because of Cathy (front desk boss)- she was so helpful and efficient. For example, I needed to park my car and the parking attendant was on his break- she helped getting me in and found a parking spot for me. Her demeanor was professional, sweet and incredibly personable. She deserves a raise!

We had our wedding reception hosted here at the seaside lawn. Our coordinator was Chris and he was phenomenal. All the staff was very friendly, hard-working and made our reception a dream come true. Chris and his team worked tirelessly to get everything right including the decorations. the food was delicious and there was no complaints. Everything ran smoothly and timely. All of our guests were treated exceptionally well. The hotel room was clean, had a nice view of the harbor and ocean and we could not have asked for a better reception. Thank you so much Portofino Hotel for making our reception very memorable.

Went for a staycation, sometime away from the city. The first night was good and my last night was awful. We got to the hotel a little late and put the air on, but we kept waiting for the room to cool down. At 1am I woke up to check the thermostat and it said 80. I turned off the air and tried again. And at 3am I woke up sweating again. We called the front desk that our air conditioner in the room was not working. Their response was to open the windows. Paying $300 dollars a night to be awaken from being uncomfortable in the heat is awful. Opening the windows did nothing. We continued to sweat throughout the whole night in the middle of July weather. Not being able to relax is the worst part, especially when you go only away for two days. I was more dissatisfied on the way they handled the situation.

Not good! Be prepared to be significantly over-charged. I booked a room for two nights, for avg. $240 per night. A couple hours after I checked in, my debit card was charged $900! Charged for the two nights upon check-in. This is not right! Then include exorbitant charges for room deposits (by the way, room not cleaned), parking fees, destination fees, other charges by the property. No one explained the debit card charges upon check-in. SURPRISE! Two stars for nice room.Response to hotel: the word “authorization” is used cleverly to enable the exorbitant charges on the debit card upon check-in! The full charges and $ dollar amounts were NOT explained at check-in. SURPRISE, we will charge your debit card double the room rate upon check-in. At check-in, I was informed do not park here, then after I moved car, explained again to move car. Not one person has asked me ‘What can I do to make your stay more enjoyable?’ ‘How can we make your wedding anniversary stay more pleasant?’ Where is the customer satisfaction?

I wish I could give zero stars worse management. I was there for only one day thank god! the whole time we were there the smell of marijuana did not stop the music was so loud till 3 am. The next day when I told the management about it she said that she was there till 1 am and she didn’t get a complain. The management kept telling me what I would like her to do about it. Really is that anyway to talk to a costumer??? So rude. NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN!!! I never been so disappointed with a hotel before. When I called the corporate office to tell them about it the guy gave me an email said that I should email them and someone will get back to me if I’m lucky “due to Covid they don’t have a person available so I can talk too”UNBELIEVABLE!

Potential guests beware! The hotel looks nice. Its right on the marina where you can hear the sea lions chatter. Its newly renovated and very pretty. The lobby is adorable and the rooms are charming. The restaurant is really wonderful and we went there several times. However, it also seems like a magnet for shadiness. We stayed here for a quick work-related trip to LA, and were so disappointed. In the hallways were barely dressed sex workers walking around; there was a constant waft of cigarettes and weed (hotel is supposed to be non-smoking); guests were hanging out unmasked in the hallways. The management did not seem to monitor the activities. We heard guests threaten a couple and their baby in the lobby and later noticed police on the premises. We spoke to the couple who said the management did not address this matter. In the morning we noticed more sex workers (not the discrete kind). The hotel seems desperate for guests. Also, our room, which was one of the most expensive, was cleaned once because we asked. Apparently thats the default and you have to ask. Yet, there was no notice about how cleaning services worked. To sum it all up I regret staying here it put a real damper on my trip to Los Angeles.[Note that I dont like to write such bad reviews since I know the hotel probably employs a lot of good people who rely on those jobs, particularly after such a hard year in an industry that has been decimated. However, Ive already given the hotel my feedback and since they didnt seem to care about it at the time hopefully this review will.]

This is a pretty nice boutique hotel. The room was nice and facilities were pretty nice as well. Service was a little spotty at times over our four night stay, since we couldnt reach the front desk at times. Location is easy walking distance to Rendondo boardwalk and a quick drive to Manhattan beach. About 30 mins from LAX (light traffic). If you face the water, the seals are pretty entertaining but sometime loud (and entertaining). The ocean views are more so just restricted bay views. Overall pretty decent experience here.

The service is or maybe better way to say Lack Of Service, we spent 3 nights in this hotel and they NEVER came to clean the room. And to top it off in the room the curtains had blood stains....

Positive: We spent the night of July 24th with my wife and we were expecting a peaceful environment in a non-smoking hotel. I needed to report to the front desk people smoking (cigarettes and marijuana) in the second floor, and the problem continued later on... Negative: A person under the influence (smoking marijuana and drinking alcohol earlier at the balcony), started screaming and arguing with a roommate around 2:30 am. At 2:44 am I needed to call the front desk and needed to call again at 4:44 am. Horrible experience

For the money this is a very POOR CHOICE all around. It has the rotting vibe of a rip-off third-world resort in Baja Mexico (and not in a good way).VERY expensive but they have a few rip-offs to trick even more. Its foolish to spend $1000 here -- because you will. Its NOT worth it and there are such better values near the beach. Here are some details...Check-in was pleasant (the only reason it has 2 stars and not 1), but went downhill from there. Marina-facing rooms have regular foot traffic and activity which make it not very private.Room was (as to be expected by roof) fairly moldy. Problem is, you cant keep the sliding door open for the fresh ocean air because it makes the mold worse. It is located by an active dock where some live on their boats, so dont expect glamour. I was very impressed by the oysters, skates, and fish in the water however, so the water must be clean. In fact, walking along the dock was the highlight of the trip, which is sort of sad.Parking is $32 a day, but they cant guarantee you a spot so youre afraid to take your car out and go places after sunset -- and for that price, thats just stupid. The absolute worst part of the hotel experience is the TV, believe it or not! The remote and UI is designed to rip you off and charge you $24 a movie just because you were trying to find HBO (there is none). it promises Google Play connectivity, but it doesnt work, and the hold time was stuck at 7 callers ahead of you for an hour. Too Bad, because there was nothing to watch except really bad and really expensive pay per view.Another weirdness is the singular curtain that doesnt reach far enough to close on both ends, so you cant stop the lighting. We also had to pay a resort fee on top of a facility fee -- for NOTHING. (So thats another $100 for nothing) There...IS... NO... resort.I tried having food delivered but the front desk was rude and hostile unless I ordered from their restaurant. Meet them in the parking lot to avoid the young women at the front desk scolding you.Oh, and last advice if you stay here, no matter what you do -- do NOT eat at Joes Crab Shack. There are several other seafood options. If you dont mind spending $100 on breakfast, their eggs Benedict was pleasant.Advice: I think the Hampton Inn on PCH at $130 a night is a FAR healthier and more pleasant choice. Or, if you want to stay at the beach, spend the extra hundreds and stay elsewhere.

I love the staff and the location of this hotel. This Marina is much better than the one I had in Marina Del Rey automatically because the staff is so much more helpful and not deceitful!

For the hotel industry, getting you a good night’s sleep is a valuable science.🔭⠀I hear it time and time again: I was on vacation/traveling for work and slept better than in my bed at home. Well, it happens to me all the time. Maybe this is one of the reasons I love to travel so much 🧳 or I just need a new mattress.🙃⠀🔸This time we stayed at Portofino Hotel & Marina (a 4 stars hotel). We had an ocean view room that conquered our hearts🧡 and the best sleep time ever. 💤

My husband and I came here for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. We also got married at the Portofino 2 years ago and had a great experience so we knew we wanted to stay there again. This time around got off to a rocky start. We thought we had a room facing the water, but we didn’t. Joseph who was a large part of what turned our weekend around, jumped right in to help find a solution. Not only did he go over and beyond our first night to switch our rooms, when he was unable to, he tried AGAIN Saturday as soon as a room opened up.Even though nothing came of his numerous attempts in regards to us moving rooms, it really meant a lot that he continued to try. That level of care and dedication to help make our stay enjoyable spoke volumes. I have worked in customer service based jobs since the age of 15 and even though our requests were not able to be met, the continued efforts of Jospeh made us feel welcomed, cared for and heard. We will definitely be coming back hopefully soon and thank you to the staff for making my birthday weekend comfortable and relaxing. Shout out to Jackson and Jonathan as well who are both exemplary employees.

Great hotel at the marina. No sand nearby, but lots of water. There are free bike rentals and you can also pay to rent some kayaks and other toys next door. The pool was disappointing for such a nice place, but the main living room near the lobby and the hotel room were great. Recommend for families and those who enjoy boating. The area isnt as crowded as other places in the LA area.

A beautiful hotel with an amazing view!! The staff was very friendly and helpful. I reserved 2 rooms, both of which were upgraded. My kids loved to watch the sail boats and sea lions off of the balcony. The beds were heavenly and the jetted tub was a perfect addition. Thank you for making our family vacation an experience that we will always remember.

My uncle and I flew into Cali for the first time from VA. Got to the hotel and were greeted by Kevin. He checked us in to the hotel as well. During the check in their was miscommunication from when we booked it months ago to the time we got to the hotel. My Uncle wanted a second floor room which he booked and in the system it showed we booked a first floor room. My uncle got really frustrated but Kevin was patient and nice throughout the process and made everything work out. A+++ customer service from him.
