I am very disappointed with my first visit. My appointment was scheduled for 2:15. My time was verified when I came in.. I was there before 2 and completed the information needed on computer. 2:15 comes and goes and I hear them call another person back for an appointment at the same time. I wait patiently. Finally I ask how long after the appointed time does one have to wait. I was then asked what time was my appointment. I said 2:15. The front desk clerk replies we have you at 3:00. I said impossible. I received a call from you all and 2 emails verifying the time and date. She says we will try and get you back as soon as possible. I said no thank you. She asked if I wanted to reschedule. Why should I. I had to take off work for a bogus appointment. Will not be returning. I know mistakes can happen but dont sign someone in and verify the appointment then change it without saying anything.

Went to Aspen Dental in Rapid City for a filling. Since they did my filling I have not been able to eat on my right side. I called Aspen and let them know the situation. They asked me to come back in for them to take a look. Once there the same dentist re-did the filling. After over a week, I still was NOT able to eat on my right side. I called the head of the business to ask him if he could redo the filling or see what was going on. I went in, he looked at it and said everything was done by the book and it should heal in a few days. After over 8 days I STILL cannot eat on my right side. DO NOT GO HERE! Now I have to go to new dental office and ask them to redo whatever is going on with my tooth.I should have known something was wrong when they asked me to PREPAY for dental services. I have never been asked to prepay for a dental service in the future! To add insult to injury, I was called by the dental office to be asked if I would be making my dental cleaning appointment!!! As if I would EVER let them touch my teeth again!

These are the nicest people ever! From the front door (reception) clear through to my visit with the dentist, and on to the finance person, everything is handled with the utmost dignity and respect. Not once did I feel like I was being ignored. The wait time was virtually non-existent throughout my visit, even though I received a phone call before my scheduled time to be there telling me that I would have a bit of a wait. But not at all! It had been a really long time since I had seen a dentist (lazy!) and I expected to be shamed by the dentist for the lengthy delay, but I heard all nice things!! I was not shamed! I am so happy I made Aspen Dental my first choice when it became very clear I could not put off a dental visit for any longer. Will definitely follow any suggested schedule for return visits. Everyone seemed nice when I first came in. They went to take xrays and the piece they put in my mouth was too big but they kept telling me to bite down and I kept telling them I couldn’t. Then they put a smaller piece in my mouth and hit the piece with the X-ray equipment and it hurrrt. No one said sorry or anything. Then they told me i needed to quit chewing and I was going to die. I would’ve liked some tips to quit instead of feeling judged. They also told me I needed three fillings when my original dentist and orthodontist told me I didn’t have any cavities. And then I talked to the lady in the finance area and she seemed really judgemental. I will do everything to never come here again.

I love this place! They are very caring and quick. When I have an appt scheduled I never have to sit in the waiting room, they get me back and done within an hour. They explain everything that they are doing which is nice to know as not many dentists do. I have told all my friends and co workers to go here as they are amazing. Very happy I found this dentist!!

Pretty happy about my new teeth.Ten months ago, after years of neglect, I walked in to Aspen Dental in Rapid City with a mouth full of jagged, broken, and bad teeth. I had never had a tooth pulled before, I even still had my wisdom teeth. Some were broken off at the gum line because I had gotten several root canals done a decade before, but I never got crowns put on them like youre supposed to. I thought I was going to have to get them all removed, but to my surprise, I got to keep the 12 front ones and 3 more in the back for anchors. They had no trouble at all setting me up with easy financing. They made a set of acrylic temporary partials. When I came in for the surgery I was scared to death, but I shouldnt have been. They gave me light sedation, let me listen to music, and extracted all 17 bad and broken teeth, and put the temporary partials in, all on a Saturday morning. Almost zero pain. I was back to work on Monday. Lots of appointments and procedures over the following months. And as an over-the-road truck driver I may have driven my dispatchers and load planners a little crazy, but Aspen Dental worked with my erratic schedule. They took their time and made sure that the permanent partials would be absolutely perfect. I just got them a few days ago and I just love them. They are super light and strong and I can hardly tell that Im wearing them. The framework is very light, smooth shiny metal with very real looking teeth. They just have a couple shiny metal wires that are visible when I smile real wide, but I think they look great. I would highly recommend Aspen Dental.

I came in for a possible tooth extraction. First their Xray machine was having software problems. The tech stepped in to hold the Xray without protection. I thought that was odd, but its not my place to say something. The dentist came in,,thru the whole exam I felt like I was being rushed, like a 10 min oil change. Dentist also made me feel poorly about my dental problems, like I was a scrub who just doesnt care about my teeth. He gave me options then sent me in with the office manager to discuss procedures and costs. I asked if I could get a prescription for antibiotics since he assured me that I would be getting another infection. He said he would call in a script for me. After sitting in the office managers office for about 20 mins, again software problems, having tech guys come in to resolve the problems, not accomplishing that, I was asked if they could just contact me later when they get the software fixed. That was a week ago, still no call to give me options, I had to call them to get my prescription called in because the dentist must have forgotten. Left my phone # so the office manager could call me with cost and options. After reading this review you probably think Im just a complaining, disruptive patient they decided to not deal with. Wrong! I was pleasant, patient and cooperative. I understand that computers can be a pain at times, but come on,,,you guys never bothered to call me back or call in a prescription. I was in a lot of pain, but obviously your patients arent your #1 concern. Poor practice.

From the moment I walked in until my appointment was over, I felt so welcome, thanks to the friendly, warm, helpful staff. I was treated kind, with respect and knew I was in the best care available. Everything was explained to me in detail as if I was the most important patient of the day. I was also impressed by their expert knowledge. They had the answers to my questions. I have complete confidence and trust in them and consider my going there a blessing.

Went in for a #2 extraction.Took two dentists to get it out, as it was attached to my sinuses, and roots were crazy bad.They worked until they got it out, told me thanks for my patience. I have a high pain tolerance and was able to sit well. The doctors were professionals with the job. Tried to make it as quick and painless as possible n highly reccomend these guys. I was visiting from out of State. Couldnt handle the pain from a broken tooth anymore so we went to Aspen Dental in Rapid City, SD. The best experience Ever!!! All of the staff were amazing!! From the time we walked in to the time we walked out was 2 hours. Some may think that is a long time but for us we thought it was great, we had no appointment and had never been there before, had an exam, xray, tooth extraction and out the door. Everyone made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Amazing staff!!!

The staff at the store on Eglin Street, Rapid City, SD from the minute I walked in as a new patient, through each office, until I walked out as a very satisfied customer were very friendly, concerned about my well being and making sure that they knew exactly what I needed in dental care. I just wanted a cleaning. You have to have x-rays and a check up before a cleaning, ok fine. Get the check up and now I have $500 worth of other things to take care of. Im not allowed to get just a cleaning. I also HAVE to get the other $500 worth of care they recommend if I want a cleaning. Will be going to get a second opinion somewhere else. Maybe someone else will be willing to just clean my teeth.

Dr. Schmalz and his staff are fantastic. Everyone is extremely nice and helpful.After going to a dentist in Gillette, WY and being quoted $15,000+ in dental work, I decided I needed a second opinion by Aspen dental and I’m glad I did! Turns out 80% of the work I “needed” done, according to another dentist, was not necessary at all.The Aspen team got me all fixed up and didn’t break the bank while doing it! I would recommend them to anyone!

Had a 9 oclock appointment wasnt seen until almost noon . I was then asked to come back yet later in the late afternoon. While I was there I was feeling sick and asked for something to throw up in . The person I asked had to ask someone for help with the situation at what time I was directed to the restroom. I told them that I would have gone that route but it was occupied. Luckily the restroom became available just then. They could have just handed me a waste can or something. I also found the prices to be a bit too much compared to my regular Dentist. I had to use Aspen Dental because of my new insurance something about preferred care giver. If thats your idea of care giving all I can say is oboy I dont think so. The only person that showed any professional interest in my ordeal was the office manager. He seemed to be the only one who was concerned about the amount of pain that I was in from my infected tooth and all of the swelling going on from it. I can honestly say that Ive never had such a terrible ordeal ever in my whole life living in Rapid City, S.D. Ill never go back and Im sorry to say Ill never have anything good to say about Aspen Dental. And Ive let all my friends know what happened will I was there. And thats about half of Rapid City having lived here for the last 58 years. Great experience. Everyone was very professional, courteous, and helpful. The hygienist did an excellent job of explaining the issues she observed and recommendations for procedures needed. The Doctor also explained what was needed and how those could be addressed.

I had an accident, got my tooth knocked out and needed a root canal. I recently got off my parents insurance and haven’t gotten on my own, so I thought I would check out Aspen Dental! The staff was always very friendly and helpful. But if you find yourself in my situation I highly recommend taking the referral and any other necessary paperwork or X-rays in hand to another dental office. I waited for two weeks to get the right referral to the right people with Aspen Dental, grew tired of waiting and got my root canal done (same day) at Loftus Dental. Thanks for all your help aspen but you need to get your wires uncrossed, for medical malpractice sake.

I waited 30 minutes past my appointment to even get called back from the lobby. Finally got my x-rays and saw the doctor to examine my teeth 1 hour after appointment. Then went to another room (3rd) to get cleaning and waited another 1/2 hour for hygienist. I was in the office for 2 1/2 hours for a cleaning. This is unacceptable.

After a long wait (new patient) and them rescheduling, I take the day off work and drive 2.5 hours to get my teeth cleaned (closest insurance wise). I of course need the whole evaluation like any other dentist. For about a half hour Im moved from room to room for the evaluation. After the evaluation I told the very nice staff I know I need work done but for today I would like to stick with the cleaning. Thats when I was escorted to one last room (the sales room). In this room is where a used car salesman tells me how much everything will cost and how they can finance all of it and that because they believe my teeth need work they wont clean my teeth today nor any other day until after they do said work. It appeared as if the guy was paid on commission. In the end I felt it was a waist of my time and I felt like a piece of meat being tossed from one person and room to the next.

This was my first visit. They were friendly, gentle and thorough.My appointment was on Thursday night when they are open til 8 pm and the staff was light hearted and happy, a total joy to be around.I will definitely be coming back.

My visit went real well majority of the time I was there. The girls and the doctor were very friendly and informative. I was sure to have found MY dentist.At the end of my visit, I spoke to a guy that handled billing and appointments, I suppose. A future appointment was never discussed, as he was only interested in getting my money right then and there. I told him I refuse to pay for extractions that havent been done yet. He said he requires the payment up front in case I cancel my appointment, that way they already have their money. That didnt make any sense to me. Ive had extractions before and I paid the day of my appointment. After refusing to give him money, he said he can set me up with a payment plan, to which I told him I dont need a payment plan, I have no problem paying for the extractions on the day the service is provided. Then he offered to refer me to an oral surgeon. I declined and told him I will search for another dentist myself.If it werent for that guy hounding me for money, I would have liked to return to Aspen Dental, as the girls and doctor won me over. Even though Im in bad pain and really need these teeth out, I will be looking for another dentist to go to for the extractions.

I drove 356 miles to Aspen Dental and I would drive 500 if I had to. I am going back for all my dental work. I was treated so well there. I actually got treated like a person instead of something else. Love it and the staff. I travel far but they made my trip well worth it.

The people were very nice. But going in for an exam/ cleaning, coming out knowing what I already knew and no cleaning was kinda weird. Strange way of An Exam. All I got was xrays and looked at. Big deal! My son went to a different place and they did the whole routine for him as a special needs young man.Also the cost of certain things knowing peoples income was highly ridiculous. Something way out of reach for low income people should be way better worked with if their gonna accept the insurances. Went out of there disappointed.

Aside from a few hiccups this was one of the best experiences I have had, the dr was amazing and for the 1st time in years I have no mouth pain, totally awesome!!

From the front desk to the nurses and dentist was the best service Ive got in a long time. Would have been a 5 star but then I go in the back room to talk to the guy for options and payment plans and get told I could go find a sugar daddy to fix my teeth was very unprofessional. Being a single mother with no parents or any family close to me I barely make by. I felt very disrespected by that one guy to the point I dont ever want to go back. Talk about total humiliation

So far, so fantastic. Im not a good patient and was very scared when I made my appt, lots of unpleasant tooth/gum issues. Thankfully, the entire staff was kind, helpful, non-judgmental, and sincerely interested in helping me. I’m not a fan of having dental work done in general based on awful past experiences but I love this place! Dr Schmalz does a great job. He is the only dentist on a long list that is capable of numbing my mouth without multiple, multiple, multiple attempts. He can even inject into the roof of my mouth without excruciating pain! He seems very knowledgeable and is not overly full of himself like many other providers. The support staff are great as well. They all are genuinely nice and appear to enjoy their jobs which I think is rare in corporately run businesses. I will definitely be back!

I have had dental care providers who were less expensive, but this is a classic case of you get what you pay for. The professionals at Aspen Dental are worth the price to me, and I will probably never go anywhere else.All that said, I really resent having to confirm that I plan to keep my appointment a few days before the appointment or they will cancel my appointment. Im not always able to check my email every day...if I say Im going to be there, I will be there.

Every visit at Aspen Dental is very quick but thorough. Eden, my hygienist, always takes great care of me and is very personable! Dr. Schmalz is great!
