This year I decided to go through My Girl Friday to pursue a nanny position. This agency is amazing. The staff are extremely caring and always take into consideration your needs and wants. The entire process was an ease and any time I had a question, someone was there to answer it. I was paired with a family and it has been one month since I started. I am extremely happy with my job and am very grateful for everything My Girl Friday did to help me along the way.

I have been in this industry for over ten years and I have worked with countless agencies that just place you to make their money and then they are out of the picture. My Girl Friday stands out from the rest and they truly do care about placing you with the right fit. They took the time to listen to my needs and understand my difficult past experiences with other agencies and were sensitive to these experiences as we navigated the interviewing process. I told them that I only wanted to work with people who I could be with long term so I wanted the perfect match. I was in no hurry. In a short time, I had several amazing prospective families ready to meet me. I interviewed with several and found “the one” for me. Due to Covid, it’s not as easy as it once was to just meet up with a family and I feel like they take precautions in maintaining the safety of all parties. The difference between using My Girl Friday and Care.com is you know exactly what you are getting into and they have prescreened families before even working with them. The guess work is taken out, you always feel safe and that to me is worth the wait. Austin and Danielle have truly given me a job that I could have only dreamed of. I have been in the nanny industry for roughly 5-6 years. I have always used Care.com but was very intrigued when I saw this company. I applied and created my profile for families to see within two weeks. I found this process to be fairly easy; however, when it came to finding a family, it felt impossible. I worked with a lady from this company who would constantly inform me of families she thought I would be a perfect fit for. As a employee, you do not see your profile that was created, nor do you communicate with families right away. For weeks, I was told my profile was being sent out to numerous families. I sat around waiting for the next step; however, I was never informed if a family did not want to hire me, or if a family did want to hire me. I would have to message the lady from the company, who would inform me to just send her more families I was interested in. I finally was over it, as it was taking weeks with awful communication, and applied to families on Care.com. Within a week of being on Care.com, I found the perfect family and started right away.Here’s the main difference with this company and Care.com. This company benefits families more than the nannies who work for it. Families are able to chose who they want and ultimately make the final decision of communicating with a potential nanny. You, as an employee, wait around and hear absolutely nothing. Care.com benefits the family as well as the nanny. On Care.com, you apply directly to a family and if they are interested, they will contact you. You are able to communicate directly with the family rather then communicate through a middle person. For example, families from the company would have questions and I was not able to answer them directly, nor gage out how they felt about my answer. I would have to message the middle person who would relay my answer. On Care.com, if a family has a question, they can ask you directly.One thing that upset me the most with this company was their response to me deciding to leave. They did not show a lot of interest in me. When I communicated with them that I was leaving as the process was not going anywhere, they decided to then tell me that they were talking about me that morning about how great I would be for a family, etc. I felt like this was a way for them to try and keep me by telling me what they thought I wanted to hear. I honestly urge you to not go with this company. If you are looking to become a nanny for a family, try Care.com, premium access. Trust me, you’ll find a family within a week or two. The same amount of time it would take you to make a profile with this company.

I started with My Girl Friday in July of 2020 and had a really wonderful experience. Everyone I spoke to was incredibly helpful and had all my questions answered. I was doing interviews within a few days and I was a lucky one who met my family day one. I still met with other families to ensure I had all the options that were available to me. We are thrilled with our My Girl Friday experience. We were so nervous about finding a nanny who was a good fit for our family, especially during the Covid pandemic. We have a young infant and a 3yo and wanted to make sure we could find someone we could trust to take Covid precautions seriously. This agency has had very poor communication with me and this seems to be an ongoing issue from the other reviews i’ve read .I discovered the agency My Girl Friday very shortly after the birth of my son. i discovered that they offered “tag-along positions” where I could bring my child with me . The agency quickly set me up to interview with a family to meet via zoom . I should have known from the start communicating wasn’t their strong suit when I had to contact them multiple times to confirm and get details for the zoom meeting I was told was scheduled but never got a link or phone number to access the meeting . The time and days kept changing . I figured no big deal things happen. I finally was able to meet the family via zoom and in person, they were great and they seemed to be very interested, particularly in me bringing my child whom was very close in age to their little one . About a month went by and I heard ABSOLUTELY nothing from the agency despite inquiring of the position of which i interviewed. I absolutely feel as though I should be kept in the loop about a position where the family was interested in potentially hiring me . It absolutely isn’t a big deal if the family chose another applicant, but I needed to know so that i could move forward in the process of interviewing with other families and finding a job . Bottom Line i feel that this agency only looks out for themselves and the families that hire them and could care less about nannies or potential nannies. I have been a nanny for over a decade, with multiple long term positions that have given me GREAT REVIEWS and have never dealt with such an unprofessional agency. Them knowing I have a small infant to care for and them playing with peoples livelihoods is messed up. Not only do they care about the well-being of the children, the flexibility and accommodations for all of the parents’ needs, but they really care about the nanny’s needs and finding the right fit for her/him. We needed Nanny care / household management for 3 days per week but knew it would be difficult to find the professional experience we desired without going the Nanny agency route. All-in-all, our process lasted approximately 4-5 weeks and was fairly easy on us. During that period we reviewed 6-8 resumes and felt as though 2 candidates were very much not qualified and 2 qualified candidates were highly qualified. Leanne was very easy to work with - from the first experience, to the last. Austin is passionate and eager...on a few occasions she stepped into our process, made swift moves and did a good job keeping things on track. My wife and I both appreciated that effort from her. When I was unrealistic about a particular criterion, she called me and explained in a vernacular I would understand why we could not find that specific thing in this areas nanny market. When we had a miscommunication with someone who is no longer with My Girl Friday, Austin immediately recognized the need to take over the account and rectify the situation. I am confident that My Girl Fridays personalized communication, customizable nanny search process, and industry guidance are unmatched.Most importantly, we found a nanny who is better than anything we could have imagined. This review is not about her, however, so I will not opine endlessly on everything I love about her. I will simply say that we would NEVER have found her without My Girl Friday, and that we cannot imagine our lives over these past 18 months without her. We were especially grateful for the contract template they provide.3) Background Check: They complete many more phases of background and reference checking than any other agency. Part of their strength in this area is that they truly see the forest through the trees when it comes to the background check process. Hiring someone to spend time with your child requires more than knowing whether or not they have parking tickets. My Girl Friday understands that and truly screens candidates in every sense.4) Guarantee: If your nanny placement does not work out within a year (you part ways, the person moves, etc.), then they will conduct another search for you. We never had to do this, thankfully, but the reassurance that we could if we needed to was so beneficial.5) Comprehensive Support: They pick up the phone. They check in with you frequently. They let you know where they are in the process. They consider clients interests AND nannies interests, so that there are happy parents handing over happy kids to happy nannies. At the risk of getting sappy, we felt very understood and cared for, and that was so, so important for new parents.6) Floaters: They have a network of floater nannies who can step in if the primary nanny is sick or something. We did not have to use this network very often, but when you need it, it is there.

Definitely a case of buyer beware. Never pay upfront for services BEFORE theyre delivered. We were told that there was a partial refund policy if company could not find us a babysitter. Said company never found us a babysitter and we were forced to place our children in daycare resulting in one of us having to take 2 days PTO due to the short nature of finding and enrolling. Of course, the company went dark when we attempted to exercise the refund policy. Again, it was a partial refund and we were fine with that. Very bad experience. I would not recommend or use again. Stay far far away from this company. We learned our lesson the hard way, please dont fall victim to them either! I would of written this review sooner but our lives got flipped upside due to this company and Im just now getting things back together.

I am incredibly disappointed in how many opportunities I gave My Girl Friday to place me; I wasnt treated properly and there has been significant communication issues on this agencys part.A complete disregard has been shown and there are no signs of improvement; An initiative to truly place me or communicate with me regarding families I was well suited for or positions I expressed interest in was completely disregarded.I found My Girl Friday when I first moved to Raleigh and was super excited as Ive worked in major cities as a nanny and had no issues with other agencies and heard nothing but good news about MGF.LeAnne was my original point of contact who stopped communicating about opportunities.Then Katherine who said she would get back to me but never did even after I expressed interest in positions that I was confident would suit me.And the owner Margaret who via email expressed concern regarding my experience with My Girl Friday and wanted to chat with me over the phone but when I offered times I was available (and received confirmation from her about chatting) I received no call and havent heard from this agency since.I am super disappointed and a number of families mention this agency to me and encourage me to check it out; I then have to follow up with what my experience has been and that is a reflection of this agency and who they choose to prioritize and the discriminatory practices that are in place.Raleigh deserves better and the nannys that move here with diverse cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, educational attainment, and special interests would be better off on their own than to seek out the services of this agency.Sincerely,Whitney Bell
