The entire staff at Brown-Wynne could not have shown more compassion during our difficult time. The unexpected loss of our son at an early age was treated with understanding, respect, patience, and genuine caring on their part. Our initial visit with Hall was dreaded by myself, his mother and his sisters; but, Hall made this process more comfortable for us than we could imagine. With my sons sisters in mind, I called several funeral homes to get a feel for who could help us the best and in the most gentle way. Immediately I felt much more at ease with Brown-Wynne with no comparison. They were able to accommodate all of our needs; guidelines for writing the obituary, providing a number of recommendations for someone to perform the service, flower arrangements, live stream video for those unable to attend, and on site accommodations, including catering, for an after service gathering. I could not imagine anyone being able to help our familys grief as much as Brown-Wynne.
Sadly, I had to use the services of a funeral home this past week with the passing of my sister. I am not from Raleigh and the hospital gave me a list of all funeral homes in the area, but said they can’t make a recommendation. How to decide?!? I began reading Google reviews, not something I should have to do sitting in my deceased family members hospital room, but the hospital needed to know who to contact. A family friend said they’d heard positive things about Brown-Wynne on St Mary’s. I called, it was the middle of the night. An answering service collected some initial information and I received a call back from the on-call funeral director. She explained the process, the services they offer, and I made the decision to go with them. I can honestly say they made the process as painless as possible, considering the painful nature of dealing with the death of a loved one. Once my sister arrive at the funeral home they called me and we set a time to come in to make arrangements. I’ve been through the process before and dreaded a sales pitch to upsell services and items such as the urn. I was grateful that I did not experience this at Brown-Wynne. Hall Edwards was the director we worked with. He was kind, explained everything thoroughly, allowed us as much time as we needed to get through the process, answered our questions, was very helpful and responsive regarding the obituary. I was grateful that it was so supportive and responsive. I doubt I’ll ever be in Raleigh again, but if I know anyone there that needs this service I will send them to Brown-Wynne.
The death of a loved one is a sad, difficult time. We were so pleased with Brown-Wynne’s services and attention to detail. My mother and I had gone in several years ago to pre-pay for the funeral services, and it was such a weight off my mind and heart when she died to have all the details taken care of. Hall Edwards did a wonderful job, as did Marcus at the graveside. Highly recommend using Brown-Wynne.
Brown-Wynne in Raleigh did a phenomenal job with my Dad’s funeral. Excellent. We could not ask more.It started with the pick-up of my father’s body. This was done with such love and care by the two gentleman from the funeral home, that it almost brought me tears. Then the preparation for my Dad’s funeral was so thoughtful and sensitive. Hall Edwards at the funeral home guided us with care and with impeccable sensitivity. He was excellent.Lastly, the service was held during the COVID-19 pandemic and the funeral home in Raleigh did such a good job in helping us maintain social distancing, small numbers and masking. Again, excellent. One never hopes to be a repeat customer of a funeral home, but if I had to, I would choose the Raleigh Brown-Wynne facility and Hall Edwards in a second.Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Singh family. ✌🏽💗🙏🏽

Extremely professional, personalized and caring service. Highly recommend.
Excellent, caring staff. A wonderful Raleigh institution that has served generations of Raleigh families. I appreciate the genuine concern shown to me and my family ... from beginning to end, everyone was wonderful.
As much as I wish that I didnt need Brown-Wynnes services, I am incredibly glad that we chose Mark Blake and his colleagues to attend to arrangements following my brothers unexpected passing. Mark was respectful, compassionate, thorough, and transparent throughout, and my husband and I felt well-supported through a very difficult time. I especially appreciate that Mark expedited arrangements so that we were able to return to Maine with my brothers ashes...it will be a comfort to bring him back to my parents, who were unable to travel to Raleigh themselves. Thank you for caring for William...and for us!
Hall Edwards and the entire team at Brown Wynne are extraordinary professionals. They made the process so much easier than I would ever have expected. I can’t imagine a better experience, or better team with which to work.
Excellent compassion and coordination with family members across states. Having a prepaid plan, even though it was only in effect for about a month before death, eliminated stress making it possible to be present with dying family member. Flexible coordination. Excellent guidance.
Our family has used the services of Brown-Wynne 3 times and each time we experienced consistently good and caring service. They were respectful of our needs from taking care of our loved ones to planning funeral services. They were always available for questions and last minute changes and seemed to be able to anticipate everything we would need before we knew we needed it! We HIGHLY recommend them. We plan to use them whenever its needed. I would have highlighted a sixth star if there had been one!Dickey Adams
I have nothing but praise for our experience with Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on St. Marys St. in Raleigh. My family and I wanted to create a service that captured the individualistic spirit of our daughter Carson, and with help from Hall Edwards and the other capable staff, we were able to do so. Mr. Edwards guided us every step of the way, incorporating music and photos into the ceremony. He even appeared at the service on his day off so he could make sure all went well. Our thanks to Hall Edwards, especially, but also to all the staff, who were courteous, sympathetic, and accommodating.Bob Ruth
Brown Wynn and Mark Blake took the best care of me and my family during this loss of both my Mom & Dad’s death within 52 days. I could not have gotten better, more professional and kind services. Thank you
Well organized presentations, thus good use of our time.Timing just happened to work out well for us. We had been thinking about doing this and Michelles invitation arrived at our house! She was very thorough and allowed us time to time think about all aspects of this planning. She addressed our questions and shared appropriate experiences with us that aided in our decision-making.
Our family had an excellent experience with Brown-Wynne. Their staff acted with the utmost professionalism and sensitivity during a difficult time for us. The funeral director was upfront about the cost and the services are reasonably priced. I highly recommend them.
Brown-Wynne took care of everything from the first notification of the loss of our loved to the final interment in the professional and dignified manner of their well-deserved reputation. We were very pleased with the courteous and responsive actions of the funeral director assigned to us. This funeral was pre-arranged several years ago and every thing fell into place. Browne-Wynn has served our family for many years and we do not hesitate to recommend them.
Brown-Wynne was absolutely wonderful. They treated us with such respect, from taking my husband from house to explaining what would be going on. The day of the service they were again so respectful and helped guide us through procedures. I can’t thank them enough for the help they provided.
This is my second time dealing with B-W FH&C. The first time was 7 years ago. Everything about my experience was exceptional, which is exactly what I anticipated. We worked with Hall Edwards, and the young man was the best. (I could understand him through his mask, which I was glad he was wearing!) All of my questions were answered. Mr. Edwards worked very quickly to follow through after our initial meeting. For example, an obituary needed to be placed in several newspapers, and he advised me what to do and handled all of the logistics involved. The other staff members I talked with at B-W were also courteous, friendly and professional. I dont especially enjoy working with any funeral home, but when the time comes, I highly recommend these people.
Mark Blake and his staff at Brown-Wynne did a wonderful job in providing for our mothers recent funeral and burial. The entire staff was very respectful, compassionate, and professional. Marks counsel in making these very emotional decisions was very helpful and comforting. Our family has counted on Brown -Wynne in times of loss for many years and knowing that they will handle everything is quite q comfort.
We could not have asked for better service. Our funeral director Mark Blake handled every need and detail. Our family was able to celebrate my dads life without having to worry about anything; he took care of all of it. All the staff was personable and professional.
We were very impressed with the services provided by Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at Raleigh. They were very professional. They were very helpful in accomodating our Hindu culture based traditions. Mark Blake & Hall Edwards were very understanding & worked with us with everything we needed or questioned.Overall we were extremely satisfied with the service provided.
Michelle and Paul completely put my wife and me at ease in their presentation for planning our funeral arrangements. They were very professional and we are extremely satisfied with the arrangements we made.Thank you.
Michelle was amazing! So helpful in explaining everything and a wonderful sense of humor that relaxes you when dealing with details that can make you a bit uncomfortable! Will definitely pass on this experience to my friends and family!
Mark Blake and staff are professional, caring and simply amazing in aspect of their profession
Excellent service and staff. Everything was handled as stress free (as it could be) after the passing of my father.
The entire team at Brown Wynne was professional and compassionate. They did not try to sell you unnecessary services. I appreciated their approach and guidance.
So helpful and understanding at a difficult time. Allowed the family to focus on remembering our mother, not the details of the process.
Our parents left us on September 19, 2017 and October 19, 2017 and Brown Wynne handled both events for us. All was handled with sensitivity and dignity. Mark Blake is a professional in all facets of his job.
Mr Hall Edwards was great. He guided me through all the steps of planning a service. He is kind, thorough and knowledgeable.
Brown-Wynne far exceeded our expectations. Mark Blake and his staff were very professional. They did an excellent job of quietly appearing to be in the background but always directing us on what we needed to do before and after the service. They will do my service for sure!!!
I have not visited brown Wynn since December 2017. That ecperience was good under the circumstances.
Everyone was courteous and respectful of my loss.
This was the worst experience ever. These folks should be ashamed for how they conduct business. My father would be so upset with his funeral. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE on all levals. Do yourself a favor and learn from my mistake. Horrible.
Fantastic service. They went out of their way to make sure the funeral bullitens were correct right bfore services.
If I could give Brown-Wynne more than 5 stars, I would. I had such an extraordinary experience with them. Every single part of the pre-planning, planning, service and afterward was just over the top. Kelly Osborne was so great about calling me back promptly when I had many questions about pre-planning (just a week before my father passed). The actual service was planned by Wendy. She was so efficient, prompt and so compassionate. As a young woman who just lost her father, I probably asked the same question 10 times but never once did she show impatience. She communicated with me so thoroughly to make sure I had all the documents needed for all the paperwork including the military honors service. Fast forward to the actual service... Refreshments were served which consisted of pastries, fresh fruit & drinks. The display was gorgeous, they even put together a slideshow that played throughout the visiting hour. The portrait of my dad was beautiful, and the flower arrangement around his urn was exactly what I asked for (I wanted to omit some colors). They did such a wonderful job carrying out anything I wished for. The printed material was great, there were no mistakes. They even laminated quite a few for me. Everything flowed seamlessly. Anything that was left over, including copies of the slideshow, were given to be in a leather case. My urn was engraved so it had to be shipped, and it was shipped in a very timely matter. Fast forward a few weeks later, I receive a story book in the mail from them with all the pictures from the slideshow and his obituary written throughout.I could go into more detail, but Ive highlighted the most important qualities and things I loved about having my dads service with Brown-Wynne.Kelly, Wendy + everyone, thank you for your service to me and all that you did to make this a tad bit easier on me.
Excellent care, service and sympathy.
