I have been renting this storage for several years since my dad has past away and trying to hold on and not let got of his personal and sentimental things.. which is by far not probably worth what I have spent.. but the staff and company has been so understanding and accommodating to my personal space. Prior to renting an inside unit, I specifically asked what the narrowest point to get to the unit would be. I repeatedly was told 5 wide and rented the unit based on this information. Anything less, we would not have been able to get our things inside. We drive a packed box truck full of things that had to be moved that day, only to find that the door to get inside was only 3 wide. I called and spoke with the woman that told me it was 5 and she had a manager call me. However, she denied telling me it was 5 to her manager. Finally they agreed to refund me (but still charged $20 for the specific kind of lock they require) and we were left with an hour to try to find another storage unit as it was already almost 5:00.

Deploying to Germany and Angela helped me out in a quickly manner she’s very respectful and loves to give information if confused.I would recommend coming back here.

I have been renting from Smart Stop for a few years now. From my 1st interaction with Lacey until today has always been a pleasant one. From the beginning Lacey has always taken life great care to accommodate my needs. I needed access after hours since I have to be on call for heating and air and she made that accommodated my needs. I needed to upgrade to a larger unit and one was not available in the location I needed it, close to my parking spot, she kept me posted like she said she would. Immediately when it became available she called me up. When I needed a parking spot for my van she put me on the list and called me right away when one became available. And you can’t beat the personal experience of the staff knowing who you are and knowing your name when they see you. I tried another storage company that was closer to my house when I needed more space but it was not the same. I closed it after 2 months and went with a larger unit at Smart Stop as I spoke about earlier. I have had several wonderful experiences that I could share that make me stay at Smart Stop but this would be a very long comment if I did so. So to keep it short if you want a place that goes above and beyond Smart Stop on New Bern Ave is the place to go to.

Excellent experience. Angela was super awesome, patient, and helpful. It was a no pressure environment. I was looking online, found one, it reserved free with no card required to hold it for me so I can go and physically look. Rates were lower than anyone else in the vicinity. They actually had another monitor that projected her screen so I can see her put it the prices and explain it to me. Only cons is the 10x15 that was available had a pole in the middle of the room and 2 small doors versus one door that fit the room size, but I went up to 10x20 and it has its own light. And the courtesy cart is nice, however it is a small step to get it in and out the inside storage area. Aka, i put heavy things on the cart and had to have help to lift the whole cart up that small lip/step in the doorway because although its not big looking at it, the cart would not roll over it. It needs to be cemented into some kind of ramp so you dont hurt yourself trying to push and pull carts in and out. But overall, i would def reccommend this storage. And Angela was very pleasant and delivered great customer service and was honest and friendly.

Storage unit was clean. Offers online reservation which is nice. Mandatory 1+time admin fee and monthly protection which isnt out the ordinary. Lacey was lovely to work with.

My husband and I rented a storage unit from SmartStop Self Storage at this location. Not only is the pricing well within and competitive with other storage businesses but they also offer great deals like first month free. The security of the property is impressive as you have a unique code to get on the property and off. This is so they can track who is on the property at any time. They also require you to have insurance to cover your belongings. You can purchase theirs or get your own. Same for your lock. Payment options are great. You can set it up automatically, pay online, by phone, and drop off to the office. This place is really user friendly. The ladies we had the pleasure of meeting (and handled our unit) were amazing. Seriously the BEST customer service I have ever experienced. I not only rate this five stars but also will recommend this company and especially this location for any storage needs for anyone looking for this service.

Terrible place to rent, they give you a good deal to get you in and once you moved in they increase the rent in less than 6 months. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL!! not to mention, they hassle you to write a review as soon as you rent so you can give them a good rating before you noticed the poor customer service they provide.

The staff was very friendly, high-quality climate controlled storage for very cheap, even with the insurance policy that is required. Lacey at the front desk was professional, polite, and very accommodating. She also had everything ready, I was in and out of the office in 15 minutes.

Everything so far has been beyond my expectations. the storage areas are clean, well-lit, and the hand trucks available have been a huge help in moving multiple boxes at once. Lacey was kind, knowledgeable, and made getting everything set up extremely easy. i would definitely recommend SmartStop Self Storage.

Great customer service!

This is the most unprofessional facility I had ever used! I do NOT recommend them to anyone! When I used their facility, my moms home was being foreclosed. After about 6mths, I got behind about $100. I had recently lost my father and didn’t have $ at the moment. I explained this to them. They decided to proceed with auction. I asked if my personal belongings such as PICTURES AND FAMILY PHOTOS that have been kept for centuries, could be set aside, I was told yes. When I called to get my pictures, they had already sold my unit and let the buyer go with my pictures of family, my daughters baby pictures, pictures of deceased loved ones etc. and basically the buyer never returned my calls til this day! I have been upset, I have been depressed about it and even had anxiety. Those are memories I can NEVER get back, and now I have no pictures to pass on to my daughter or to show her what her grandparents and great grands looked like.

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. I have been a loyal paying customer at this storage facility since September 2014. I have paid faithfully every single month. Apparently in the last 6 months they had a leak in their roof and all of my furniture, which was in like new condition was damaged. I spoke with the district manager who was very rude and not willing to assist me in this situation at all. They had the property manager look at the unit and stated there was not leak coming from the roof. The property manager is not an experienced roofer but just as stated a property manager who knows nothing about roofs. When I was asking the property manager about the roof she stated she did not know anything about roofing so they would have to have someone come out and inspect the roof. Of course I paid for insurance but because the property manager who knows nothing about roofing said she doesn’t see any damage my insurance will not cover my property loss because it is a building maintenance issue. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a storage facility and I advise anyone who has items that they want to keep stored here to remove them. They do not do their part as a storage facility and should not be allowed to continue to operate. Worst experience and worst place ever.

Reserved a 10x10 unit online. Process was simple and they were running a special. Received call next day from Ray. She was very sweet and offered to answer any questions I had. A few days later we went to office to sign lease. I was greeted by Christine, manager, who showed me and my husband the unit and gave us tips for storing our precious items. She answered all our questions and stepped us through the lease in an understandable way. She also explained their security measures which helps me know our items will be safe. Entire experience was good from start to finish. Thankful to have ExtraSpace to store our items the next few months.
