Everyone Ive met from Raleigh Animal Control has been very professional and responsive. They obviously care for animals and understand the concerns of citizens. Cant say enough good things about their wonderful staff!
Called in regards of a safety issue, then was accused of being someone else that would call them. They don’t care about animal’s safety unless the police are involved. You can tell they just treat this as a job no compassion for animal life or human safety.
We live behind Millbrook Exchange Park and often walk the dogs near the baseball fields. This particular day my husband had the dogs off leash and was cited for not having the dogs rabies tags on their collars. They have often lost them and it is a pain to have them duplicated. The officer(Kostka) was very nice and professional-just doing his job. I called the next day and spoke with Ashley S. to provide the dogs rabies tag #s. She too was very nice and professional. It was a very nice experience and certainly a lesson!! Thank you.
Very friendly and very helpful!
Had a lost dog outside my house less then 5mins later they where here to pick him up thank u
I called for a baby raccoon in my yard that my dog had cornered and was acting strangely and the woman was here in 10 minutes! She had the animal caged in less than 2 minutes. I was quite impressed.
Last time I called this number they were very friendly and responsive to my call regarding lost animals in my neighborhood. Today? The WORST. I usually don’t do reviews but whoever I spoke with this morning from this number AND the “sheriffs” office so they said, BOTH of those females are so rude. They both interrupted me while I was trying to explain the situation of a lost pitbull in my area. (Mind you, I am a dog owner myself and I don’t believe all animals are bad especially with this breed, but just for safety in case the animal might be scared when approached is why I contacted them)The first woman I talked to interrupted me while I was talking and I always like to explain things detailed so they know where to look, what precaution they should take, and where the dog was wandering around to next. But this woman would not let me have a chance to even say my freaking location of where I saw the dog she was saying “I don’t know where that is. If it’s in our area or if not we will transfer you.” like OK CHECK YOUR SYSTEM. I been trying to tell you the address but you keep interrupting talking while I do. I wouldn’t be calling just to say I don’t know the location. The second woman was just as bad as she was when she transferred me. Again with interrupting while I was trying to describe the dog and where it was last seen and headed off too next. The last thing she told me was “I’m not sending anybody out there. I’ll let animal control know.” In a rude way! At that point I just hanged up.I wasn’t about to start my morning on my way to work with 2 females who act like they are on their period being rude, acting like they didn’t even want to be there that early in the morning, and interrupting me while I’m explaining something. If they don’t want to work in this kind of job/field to be receiving calls from people who need help or are TRYING to get help then they should NOT work here. Especially with that attitude I witnessed.
As someone who worked for the City for twenty years, they weren’t very helpful. We have s fox in our neighborhood who is hiding in a very small section of the woods. I asked if they could catch the fox to protect my dogs and the other dogs here and they said no, they were in their natural habitat. The fox might have rabies...or some other diseases. There should be some place to place them safely.
If you are trying to find help for an animal in need, don’t bother calling raleigh animal control. They will do just enough to say they investigated the issue, but no real action will be taken.
This morning my cat decided to explore while on a leash and ran inside a crawl space under a building nearby where I could not follow. He was tugging hard and for fear of choking him on the leash I had to let go. I couldnt see him nor feel any movement on the leash. Terrified he had choked I called Raleigh Animal Control. They were quick to respond saying theyd send a humane animal control officer out. They also work in tandem with RPD and within minutes there was a helpful and compassionate police officer there. Between him and the maintenance person they managed to get my cat out.So relieved and thankful for the absolutely wonderful and quick response by your team, I just cant thank you folks enough!
Do not call Raleigh Animal Control if you have baby possums that need to be relocated due to being in a neighborhood on a very busy street. They will simply move them into a neighbors yard who has several large dogs, putting them in more danger than they were in originally. I doubt they will make it through the day without being killed. Absolutely zero help and a condescending attitude to top it off.
Neighbors pit bulls are running loose more often than not. They come right up to us barking and growling. Eventually the move along with a lot of hollering. Called animal control and gave address (Raleigh address but on the edge of Knightdale) and they pass me onto Sheriffs office. Tell them and they said but they moved on now? I said yeah they are running around nearby. They said they only send a patrol out if you are in danger or if the dogs are menacing. I said what barking and growling at me in my driveway isnt menacing enough?! No response to that. I said basically they have to hurt someone before anyone will come out right? Still no response back. I say thanks for nothing and hang up. So not sure who gets the thumbs down but think next time Ill shoot them. THEN the cops will come!
She did her job but dont ask them to help a animal. We had a fox that had been hit by a car. She stated we will euthanize it, we dont rehab foxs i understand she did her job so if you have a fox, raccoon or opossum you need help with and do not want it killed, these are not the folks to call.
Three raccoons were in the dumpster at the complex where I work. One had its head stuck in a plastic jar and was having trouble breathing. I called animal control and explained the situation and in less than 1/2 hour an officer arrived (sorry I didnt get your name, but you were great). He was very nice and showed compassion for the trapped amimal. The jar came off after a little wrestling, and all 3 raccoon were relocated to a safer location. Thank you for all your help.
I was babysitting for a friend when a bird fell into the fireplace. Ther had been a nest above the flap and the bird seemed unable to get back up. After being unable to remove it myself, I called Animal Control around 8:45pm. I was told an officer would be sent out. 10:15pm rolls around, nobody is there. I call back, only to get no answer. Ten minutes later I call back and someone else picks up. I tell them the situation and they say Oh yeah, I see your log. Well send someone there. What they failed to tell me was that animal control is closed on weekends, and sent a cop to the house instead. The cop looked and couldnt see the bird, so we figured it got back up and he left. Then the bird comes back down again. By 11pm, I decided to wait until the parents got home to figure out what to do.Horrible experience, will not call them again if I come across a similar situation.
This morning my dog was attacked he now has a hole in the side of his stomach. My dog was on a leash the neighbors dog that attacked was not. However when I told animal control that I dropped the leash during the altercation, they told me I too was now in violation of the leash law. Absolutely unbelievable! I guess I shouldve stood there holding the leash getting entangled in this dog fight so that two of us ended up at the ER! If possible Id give this worthless institution zero stars.
I called in the morning after seeing a little cat in the middle of the road, obviously recently hit by a car, writhing in pain. I could not stop to help the suffering animal, because it was on a main road during rush hour. When I spoke with Animal Control at 7:50 AM, I was assured that the Animal Control Officers would be heading out to the address immediately. Well... I drove by the same location 5 hours later, and saw the cats body still in the street in the same place. Animal Control obviously did not go to help (or humanely put down) this suffering animal. They hadnt even come for the body.
Had a young racoon who looked like it was tangled in some brush between my fence and the neighbors. Called animal control and they got here in less than 30 minutes, grabbed him up in a cage and took care of the situation in about 5 minutes. Could not ask for a better conclusion.
They told me that stray dog found is not that important cause I found one outside my place and called them gave me a bad attitude as well
Called with no response from animal control. This phone number is Raleigh PD, non emergency line. Animal control goes through them. To bad
