Aspire may be a new name but its the same old South Shore Mental Health. This is the type of place where name recognition is NOT a good thing. Hence the name change. The staff at the South Weymouth respite house spent their entire shifts on Zoom classes or writing papers. Great place to work if you want to start or complete a graduate degree. You can work on your academics your entire shift. No worries about client care. The only thing the supervisor, Kate, worried about was the controlled substance medication log... that was never correct??? She made every attempt to correct the count but it always came up wrong. I know this because the conflict around controlled substances went on right around clients. I watched them scramble to make the documentation match the missing medication. The respite stafff were the only dedicated staff. Judy and Denise were there for the clients. I looked forward to the full-time staff taking time off. This meant the dedicated respite staff would get those hours. They were not there to pursue their own educational goals on Aspire time. They spent their shifts one on one helping clients. My departure was premature because I voiced my concerns about their very lax covid-19 protocol. Mask wearing for clients was optional and client hygience was beyond bad. They had a forced mandatory temperature check, but from there anything goes. I stayed in my room most of the time to avoid possible transmission. The actual respite house is beautiful but its core(staff) was rotten. My advice to anyone who gets sent here is to play the game. Stay on Kates good side or your discharge is eminent.
They seem to help a lot of ppl through their tough times. However no amout of inspirational words are going to change my circumstances. Tho I did not feel any benifit, if group therapy interests you, then this place is worth a visit. Staff and community are very nice.
Bad place, bad people; vagrants the lot of them.
