I’ve been going to the Supercuts location on Thayer Street for several years now, but today had the pleasure of meeting their new manager, Alison. I arrived about 20 minutes early for my 1 pm check in. Alison greeted me and took me immediately. She is friendly, professional and gave me an excellent haircut. I’ll definitely continue going to Supercuts on Thayer.

After being a loyal customer to Thayer Supercuts for over 5 years (despite their occasional amateur mistakes), one especially egregious incident ended that all. After July 2016, I had decided to stop playing supercuts-roulette; but not before the metaphorical bullet named “Nicole” made a real work of my head. (tl;dr - see attached photos). I have waited a long time before posting this review but their doomsday clock is ticking near. I have shown this establishment great détente.I kid you not, you cannot be this blind. There is no reasonable explanation for Nicole to have messed up this badly. My instructions were simple; Clip3 on the sides and back, blend the top, and trim 1/2 inch from the front.Now she took those instructions and went full-on Jackson Pollock with the razor. She spent 30 minutes trimming my head with scissors with a technique I can best describe as “flick-of-da-wrist” yet my hair still looked like a landscaper had a heart attack in the middle of curating a topiary garden.What’s most impressive is the her gall. If you see how wrong the pictures look, wonder how on earth she thought that was okay? What an audacious lack of judgement and care! As Vladimir Nabokov writes, “complacency is a state of mind that exists only in retrospective: it has to be shattered before being ascertained”. So Nicole, and Supercuts, here is your wake up call. The free and fair world of competitive markets calls for your downfall. After reading my review, I hope you may agree. This is the 1980 Olympic boycott, spread the word.

I always have Nicole cut my hair! Shes professional and friendly! She does a fantastic job. Im not sitting in the chair for a half hour. I prefer to get in and out.

I used to cut my hair at Mastercuts but was forced to find a new hairdresser since the place closed without prior notice. I must say I was a bit nervous about trusting a new person but Leticia did a pretty good job! She was very friendly and made sure I was comfortable with the length before cutting the layers. After a recent (disastrous) haircut from another salon, I sent an SOS message to my neighborhood list serve asking for hairstylist recommendations. The top recommendation? Heidi from the Supercuts on Thayer Street. Not what I expected. But she proved incredibly thorough, made sure she understood what I wanted (and what had gone wrong previously), and was personable without making you feel like you *had* to keep up a conversation. And I have not had anyone handle my hair with such unconscious confidence since I moved from my home state!I did consider giving 4 stars because, well, this is a chain hair place and I was not seated for my haircut until 30 minutes after my scheduled time, despite being 20 minutes early. But I brought a book and planned ample buffer time in case that situation arose. That said, I think Heidis professionalism, thoroughness, and consultation well made up for the wait. I am very, very impressed-- and will be getting my haircut only on her shift from now on. : )

It has now been twice that they F&$Ked up my fade. Even now after 3 weeks its still very visible/noticeable. Ive done some research and found the law is in our favor, but I dont think its worth it for 25 dollars. But I was pi$$ed and wanted them to suffer as they did me. Still do for that matter. And that is why I deleted my first review and wrote this one.

Wait time was really good but the barber who did my hair didnt listen to me very well. Told them three separate times how I wanted the fade cut, didnt end up going high enough on the short side and chopped the fade side. They hid this in the shop by pushing my hair around and not letting me touch it, also cut the back very unevenly. Wont be going back.

I went to Heidi because of a review, she was awesome. I got exactly what I wanted and it wasnt expensive. She DID clean all the hair off me with a blowdrier AND a hot towel, which felt amazing. Theyre having a play and save thing going on and I received 25% off of a nice product so thats a plus too.Thanks Heidi!

I asked the stylist to just shave the sides and back of my head straight down to skin where it had been done previously and leave the hair on top alone. Somehow ended up with a fade one one side and had to ask her again to shave it all the way down to skin and still ended up with lots of random odd length small hairs in an area where there should be none. Chain places like this always feel like Russian Roulette with 4 bullets in the gun when getting a haircut. This location was no different.

Mario is great, he rescued me after a terrible cut at a ridiculously expensive salon. Ive been going back ever since. Hes been with me throughout my stressful growing out of a buzzed undercut making sure to keep things looking tidy and neat and mullet free. Hes professional, listens to what youre going for and I always leave with a great cut. Thanks so much Mario!

One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I called to schedule an appointment for 12PM. Upon arrival I was greeted and then checked in. 2 other men walked in after me. They were assisted before me but they had no appointment. I asked the check in desk wasnt I supposed to be next and the man said no because I wasnt in the system. Mind you I had called ahead of time and made an appointment and then I had checked in minutes before the other men arrived. I decided it wasnt even worth it to get a cut here. I went somewhere way better and much more polite. Definitely dont recommend this place and Im telling everyone I know about this poor experience. Also called corporate to let them know that this was ridiculous!

Spent 20 minutes finding a parking spot, walk in at 5:45pm and they tell me they are closed and already shut the registers down. Either honor your hours of operation or change them!

The super cuts on Thayer street is one of the better hair cuts I have gotten from this company. They really seem to know what they are doing and are great conversationalist.

Haircut was barely passable. The tools and space did not appear to be clean or wiped down. The stylist did not use the blow drier to remove cut hairs from me.

Fast and professional. I wanted a really short haircut (slightly longer than a crew cut) and was a bit nervous about how it would look on a rounded face Asian female like me -- it comes out perfect and I really like it!!

The girl cutting hair was just bad. No one in the place, but I felt rushed. She did not listen well. I got sorta, basically what I asked for....yet had I know she was so sloppy, and careless with clippers, (didnt use a comb to line-up the clippers), I would have specified scissors only.She was argumentative over the symantics of what I was saying, and yet didnt cut the hair properly as to what I clearly said.It was her attitude mostly, which just plain was unappealing.I did not bother to stick around for a wash.Never recommend it to anyone.Theres better places.Mastercuts in the mall will do better for a little less

Well the truth is that I dont like to speak ill of anyone. But the truth is that I had a bad experience in this place. 😒 I went for the first time. I wanted a change but it was my worst experience. They never got me so badly groomed. The girl was very nice but she didnt sap at all. The cut was bad and the drying was horrible. With telling you that I had to wash my hair and take it out again by myself with that I tell you everything ... in summary if you want a change stay with your stylist or look for a lot of information before doing it and please 🙏no go to this place 🥴👉💇‍♀️🧟‍♀️
