I left a 5 star review 3 years ago but no details in that original review. I’m updating my review (same 5 stars) but to note a great experience I had today. I have worked with this co in the past, referred a family member who purchased a phone and laptop from them and today went in to get a computer key fixed on my MacBook Pro. The owner not only fixed 1 key, but a second key as well. When I asked what I owed, he said “nothing.” What? I’m happy to pay for the fix but he wouldn’t take payment. If this doesn’t instill good faith, I’m not sure what does. Thanks Experimax for your generous help today.

They did me a favor. I was installing an SSD drive into the second M2 slot of a laptop that I bought elsewhere and discovered that the laptop didnt have the little screw needed to hold it in place. One of their guys gave me a screw for free -- maybe not a big deal, but it definitely saved me time of having to reopen the computer again later. Much appreciated. Just a note. The screw was for a Mac and I discovered that it requires a special Mac tool -- typical Apple, but I did manage to get it tight enough. Thank you, Experimax.

Johnny was a great help. He is very knowledgable and explained things clearly so I could understand what was going on. he was punctual . Said it would be fixed by this time and it was. Great customer service. over all he made me want to come back here or where ever he fixes electronics!

The employees Hassan and Johnny both were able to get my IPhone 11 fixed within 45 minutes of me braking the screen. I walked in and they had it fixed in no time. Every other store had at least a week wait time for an appointment. I can’t recommend Experimax enough for same day repairs on all types of equipment.

Experimax Portsmouth is phenomenal to work with. They are incredibly accommodating, professional, prices are fair for their high quality pre-owned Apple devices, and they make working with them across the country very easy.

We came in to have an IPhone screen replaced at an amazing price (at least half of what Apple charges) and an IPhone battery replaced at another incomparable price. We also had an old Mac hard drive fixed and all of the information from old devices uploaded onto new fixed ones. It is truly incredible how this company was able to bring our old devices back to life for years more of use. Our whole family TOTALLY recommends!!!!

Easy and great shopping experience

I purchased a used MacBook Pro from Experimax in Portsmouth, and it ended up having a bad keyboard. They took back the laptop, and gave me another used one, and it ended up having a bad keyboard as well. As I write for a living, it was important to have a laptop that worked properly, and where the keyboard was fully functional.After a few weeks of wrestling with two bad laptops, and having to have all of my data loaded onto two different machines, I told the manager that I would just have to purchase a new one, and the manager agreed to give me a full refund. That was a month ago.Upon bringing the second defective laptop back to the store, I was told that they couldnt credit my credit card, and that they would have to send me a check. That was four weeks ago. They have not done so. I since spoke to the owner (Louis Halle), and he stated that he forgot to send a check. Five days ago, I spoke to the owner again, who stated that he would transfer the amount ($1,700) to my bank account that day. He has not done so.I called the owner today to enquire about the status of the funds transfer, and he stated that he forgot.I dont know if Ill ever receive my $1,700 back from this business, but the owner certainly seems to be forgetful when it comes to returning a customers money.I would not do business with this Experimax of Portsmouth, NH.

I’ve read a few negative postings on this location amongst the numerous great ones and decided to try them out myself! I needed a new battery and charging port for my iPhone. I stopped in at 1:25pm and discussed my options. The man’s first comment was, “well you may not need a new charging port, let me check ... it may just need a cleaning.” He came back in a minute and concurred it did in fact need a new port. So he said about an hour and a half. I left the store around 1:35 and swung by on my way home at 2:15pm just to check on the progress. To my surprise, I was told another 5 to 10 minutes! Sure enough, it was complete at 2:23pm! Amazing service! And it was about $15 less than I what was quoted at drop off!I would definitely go here again PLUS, they had some really nice looking used computers there at what appear to be very reasonable prices! I give this location 5 star review based on their customer service, customer relations and quick repair turn around time! Well done!

My iMac was not starting - just stalling. I brought it in.Its the hard drive, said the first guy, and he disappeared. Another guy came out of the back. I told him that the computer was not starting. Its the hard drive, he said.Cant you start it from another start-up drive so we can see the drive? I asked.No, wed have to have a start-up drive made up.Well, I said, that seems like it would be a handy thing to have.Oh... wait. He disappears into the back.Third guy comes out, with a thumb drive, and we start up the computer using it as a start-up disk. Turns to the second guy and says something I can not hear. What? I ask. They dont tell me.This drive is almost full says third guy. Yes, I say, I see that. Could that be the problem?No, its the hard drive.Shouldnt you run a diagnostic?No, its the hard drive. We have experience, says third guy. I take my iMac and get out of Dodge.I tinker with it at home. Turns out I inadvertently made a movie of my screen lasting 3 minutes that ate up all the space on my hard drive. Erased it. It started like a charm.I wouldnt trust this place to make a tuna sandwich.

They fixed my girlfriends laptop for free because all that was wrong with it was it had lost all the screws. Not only that but they did it as they were closing! They really are wonderful businesspeople.

My Macbook Pro Laptop was on the fritz and ultimately suffered from the black screen of death where the screen would not turn on, but everything else was working. I had tried everything possible from what i read online and had fixed on previous computers, but this time nothing worked. I read about the amazing work at Experimax and decided to try it out! Hussein was so helpful and ran diagnostics and said within a few days they could get the new part, and put the piece in all for a very reasonable price! Within ONE DAY they were able to get the piece, replace the logic board my computer needed, and fix a software issue, all for a price that was LOWER than what they originally estimated! They were so patient, helpful and did an amazing job! They saved me from having to buy an entirely new computer! I wish I could give more than 5 stars and I absolutely recommend Experimax Portsmouth!

Highly recommended. Im very happy with the second hand iMac I got here. Works like new. They have wonderful customer service, so I prefer it to buying online. And they have a one year warranty which is better than anything I found online for used Macs.

I have been to Experimax Portsmouth on two occasions and both times they figured out what was wrong with my phone and did not charge me. Most recently they even ordered a part anticipating what the issue was but when I brought the phone in and they found it was a simple fix they did it gratis. And if your phone does need to be repaired they do it quickly at the store for a reasonable price. Needless to say I really like these guys and highly recommend them.

Scam artists. They told me a 2tb HDD would be $350 in parts. The same HDD is over at best buy For $54.99. dont trust these fools.

I called about 40 minutes before they closed and they said they would fix my phone no problem rather than come in the next day. Very friendly, fixed my phone screen in a remarkable amount of time. The price was very good for the quality of the repair.

Had broken screen on Macbook Air replaced last year or so. Work done quickly and professionally at fair price. Year or so on, still working fine. Quite satisfied and would return for repairs or purchase of Apple products.

Really nice place to find competent, extremely fast, fair apple service. The store is set up in a pleasant display. All the prices for items are on display. The owner and people working there all have much advanced knowledge in Network Engineering so they have high skill sets! The staff also have great attitudes. I called the store asking questions about 5 times before I took my Apple products there. Highly recommend them.

One star ONLY because they DID resolve my problem. I think they are friendly and knowledgeable but I also saw today that they will take advantage of people...money wise...if you can afford to pay way more than even makes sense...like $50 for a factory reset..sure. I went in and told the guy I needed a factory reset on my phone to override the pin for my restrictions so I could get a replace my phone. T-Mobile sent me there because they no nothing about apple or technology period..I told the guy what I needed he said they could. I asked about a price he said “it SHOULDcost nothing” then another guy took over and continued to do things to my phone or not(leaving it plugged in walking away and doing other things) I waited for awhile but didn’t mind..I did wonder what was happening. Long story short I was all set then the dude tells me I owe$50....FOR A FACTORY RESET.. they were selling iPhone 6s (which is what I have) for $85.... tell me how that works ...oh right I got taken advantage of. It’s just like finding a reliable and legit mechanic.. GOOD LUCK. And Mac edge is horrible also but for different reasons. I never write reviews but this really pisses me off...I got a whole new screen replace my for$75!! Anyway...They have no shame, are expensive and untrustworthy. Just be prepared and know your stuff before going in if you have to.

We have bought all of the staff laptops from Experimac and have been very happy. The service was great, prices affordable, and after two years everything is still working well. :)

My charger cable kept calling out. The guy was going to install a new charger port but he cleaned it out instead, pulling out a huge chunk of dust. It works fine now and they didnt even charge me for it!

I am torn about writing this review because the sales associates did, in the end, refund HALF of the cost of the labor on my computer, and that is why I gave as many as 2 stars. The main point of this review is that I want anyone who has the same problem that I had to know about this before they go to Experimac.I experienced mechanical failure of the hard drive on my late mothers computer, which I had very foolishly never backed up since when she died 2 years ago. The computer would not start and the diagnostics attempt I made over the phone with Apple failed to give a fix. Because my computer is too old to bring to an Apple store, I brought it to Experimac due to the good reviews on Google. I emphasized that my main goal was to recover as much data as possible off of the hard drive, that I was not in a rush to have the computer back and that returning function to the computer was not my main concern. They attempted to update the operating system, which failed. They then told me I needed a new hard drive and the cost would be $250 and that there was an 85% chance that they would be able to recover the data to the new hard drive after it was installed. They told me there was no way to attempt to recover the data prior to installation of the new hard drive. Then they called me and said the new hard drive was installed and they were unable to recover any of the data from the old hard drive. I asked to pick up the old hard drive with the computer, and they said yes I could have it, but emphasized that the data was unrecoverable and offered no other options to further attempt to recover it.My boyfriend picked up the computer and old hard drive for me because I was out of town, and within hours he and his dad had plugged my hard drive into his computer and easily backed up all of my old files. I do not know enough about computers to know that this is a possibility, but I can only hope/assume that a technician working on computers at Experimac would have known. If it hadnt been for my boyfriend and his dad I might have given up and lost all of the photos and documents that my mom had kept on that computer, some things that I had never even seen. I was heartbroken when I thought I wouldnt get them back.Additionally, they gave me NO information regarding what was done to the computer - what brand of hard drive was installed, what operating system was installed, or any other information about results of the diagnostics they ran. The receipt just says 4 hours of labor. They were unable to elaborate on this when the computer was picked up or after.The reason for the 2 stars is that my boyfriend returned to the store and expressed his dissatisfaction and after a long discussion with several sales associates, they refunded him half the cost of the labor.It seems this would be a good place to go for simple cell phone repairs or updates to your computer but not for more serious issues like the one I had, where so much was at stake. I am happy with the new hard drive and operating system, the computer is working great. I am impressed that they were willing to offer some money back in the end. But I really wish the communication and level of expertise/honesty had been better, and I would hate for this to happen to someone else who didnt have the resources to back up their hard drive on their own.

The computer technicians at Experimac were outstanding. They quickly diagnosed and remedied my problem. They took the time to patiently explain what, how and why I was having a problem. There was no waiting, just immediate friendly solutions. They have earned my trust. Plus, they found and saved my lost handed knitted irreplaceable mittens! Hero’s!

Expert, friendly, diligent staff. Fixed my computer the same day I brought it in! All other Mac repair places I know of around here require that you leave it there for several days, which is a great hardship for people like me who run their businesses with their computers. Actually better than it was originally. Pretty sure they gave me a 10% discount as well. Great place, great help, and quality customer service. I bought a used early 2012 15 MacBook Pro Retina with loads of storage and a very fast processor from these folks for a great price. I had a problem with the screen a few days later, and they first replaced it, no charge, and fast, but that didnt seem to do the trick. So they gave me a newer computer, upgraded with the storage capacity I needed, again fast and no charge. These folks are great; they stand by their warranties and are committed to customer satisfaction. Highly recommended.

Went in there because I was having a issue where I would be using my trackpad on my MacBook and all of a sudden it would just stop working BECAUSE STUFF LIKE THAT HAPPENS. Fixed my cracked iPhone screen but when the home button stopped working as a result of the replacement, they were at a loss for how to fix it. Price was pretty good so I was grateful for that had the repair worked.

Experimac has been such a great resource for me and my family. We have bought preowned Apple devices with one year warrantee that seem like a brand new device. You can also stop in anytime to trouble shoot any issues you may be having. The folks here are friendly and helpful. I recommend them to family and friends as the first go to when they are hunting down preowned Apple devices!
