Dan and the staff at Colonial Bicycle company were terrific. I spoke to them by phone and emails on the purchase of my new Mtn Bike but the best experience was in person. The most friendly and straightforward bicycle shop that I have purchased from in the last 30 years. I will be a repeat customer.

The whole team was great! I got my bike tuned up and had a brake repair done. Excellent work! Bike is running like brand new. I even added a request to fix an additional item and they took care of it promptly. Great team!

Alway a pleasure buying a Trek bike from Colonial Bicycle Shop in Portsmouth, NH. In 2020 we purchased a Trek Remedy 9.7 and a Trek Fuel EX 9.7. Both purchases went absolutely flawless and both bike have been assembled perfectly. From off my Jeeps bike rack to the trails not one single adjustment was needed during the afternoon ride. I purchased a Trek Farley 9.6 from Colonial via their website. I promptly received a call from Mack who advised their hours for pickup as I was traveling in from out of the area. Really important for us all to be outside and taking advantage of the nicer spring days. Biking is one way to ensure you socially distance but still get exercise and fresh air. I am constantly reminded of the need for more open spaces . I am Grateful for folks at Colonial Bicycle during this time. Brought my bike in for tune up.. super easy and convenient drop off and pick up, great communication outstanding thorough work. Worth every penny to have my bike ready, cleaned and tuned during the pandemic. Highly recommend them for your biking needs!

Charles was very knowledgeable and helpful in our bike search; would definitely return for future bike needs. The only thing requiring improvement would be communication on the bike being ready. The bike we purchased had to be built and picked up at a later date. I called a week after purchase to check in, as it’s a Christmas gift. Turns out, the bike was ready but no one had called to let me know. A small thing (not worthy of affecting rating, personally), and no blame on Charles. Service was also excellent via phone call, which was answered by various other employees.

Josh was very accommodating and helpful for a multiple small repairs. Responsive via email and fixed in about 15min flat the very next day they were open! Thanks again! Ive already recommended Colonial to my friends for all their bike needs.

I brought in 2 bikes that had been in storage for 2 1/2 years. Colonial did a great job getting both bikes in to shape. Staff is friendly and helpful. Repair was completed on time and the price was very reasonable.

I went in about a month ago to just get info on buying a good entry level Mountain bike. I spoke with Charles. He was super helpful and friendly. I told him I was interested in the Roscoe Series, and he showed me a Roscoe 7 and let me ride it out back of the store. He took the time to explain all the new technology to me, and I opened up a line of credit that day. I had to get some ducks in a row, but I returned a few weeks later, with my wife, and we also looked at a Cruiser for her. I took home the Roscoe 7 that day, with Pete helping us that day. Wicked nice guy. I bought some accessories as well, and we had to order the Cruiser because it wasnt in stock. Got a call about a week later stating the Cruiser was ready, and we went to pick it up. Picked up a few more accessories that night. Every single transaction has been pleasant, and I will continue to do business with Colonial because of this. And one thing to note, I was recommended to this shop from a friend of mine, and we both live 1 hour away from Portsmouth, in Southern Maine! It is worth the drive for the excellent service, and variety of stuff available here!

Have been a customer of Colonial for many years. Peter has a great team. Everyone I’ve dealt with is professional and very knowledgeable about cycling. Recently had my bike converted to a flat bar. Billy was incredibly helpful and so precise in planning the change. Josh did the work and all came out perfect. Lots of bike choices and places for service, but Colonial is second to none. Would recommend to anyone without hesitation.

Awesome experience! Had trouble getting a Trek 520 to fit. Colonial went above and beyond in assisting and persevering to get it right! Special shout out to Billy whos fitting as well as mechanical expertise made it happen. Great, large facility with reliable service

Im not sure if I caught this guy on a bad day, or what, but I went in there inquiring on a couple different bike styles to see what was best for me, the guy working there with long hair, heavier set, and leg tattoos was extremely rude, unfriendly, and abrasive.I was asking different questions about the bikes, and every answer he gave me was snarky, rushed, and his attitude was extremely unprofessional. Had he of been friendly, I was most likely going to make a purchase. My intention was to get all the information I needed, and find the right bike for me. My experience here, although very short, was not a good one. I doubt I would give this place my business. Ill go as far as to say that this was one of the most unprofessional, unfriendly experiences Ive ever had in any store ever.

Very knowledgeable and trustworthy staff, both in retail and especially in the service department. I go to these guys over all other shops in the area. I trust theyre giving me options and the pros/cons of each as opposed to trying to upsell me unnecessarily.

Colonial Bicycle Company...these guys are awesome! I live in Portsmouth and I have a specialized bmx bike that I bought used recently that needed some repairs done. I was excited to get it repaired so I could take it for a ride that night. I called around 5:30pm and spoke to Sam to see if I could come by that day around 6:30 because they closed at 7pm. Sam was very nice and listened to the problems I was having with the bike. He said he was happy to look at it and to bring it by. I thought the brake cable just needed to be reconnected but it was really frayed on the end and I accidentally cut it too short so once he noticed that he brought it over to the mechanic and he started working on it right away. The mechanic worked on it for a solid 30 minutes and re-ran a new brake cable, tuned the brakes and reconnected all the components. I was a little concerned about what the price was going to be and was really surprised(in a good way) when he told me only $15 for all that work plus the part! Also,while I was waiting, Sam asked asked if I had any other general questions and was happy to answer several things I was wondering about. Overall great experience, they treated me like a VIP customer on the first visit. Anyone that needs bicycle work done or even a new bicycle as they have tons of beautiful new and used bikes, this is the place to go. Friendly and knowledgeable employees, welcoming, very clean and comfortable inside. Highly recommended!

Best LBS (Local Bike Shop) in the area. They have an excellent service staff of experienced mechanics and a retail staff that will listen to you and help you make great choices (I know...in a bike shop??? - its true!). They are a strong supporter of youth cycling in our area and are a GREAT place to get your kids next bike. They support the local high school bike teams and local youth mountain biking leagues. They sell TREK bikes and accessories from a ton of great companies. They also have a great local shop CX team that solidifies their relationship to our community!

Colonial bike has some of the nicest and most knowledgeable mechanics. They truly care what you’re looking for regarding your ride or your gear. They’ll happily share their knowledge and insight. They’re fast in their repair work yet thorough to forecast what to plan ahead for.

I needed some monkeylectric lights installed, some squeaky brakes fixed and overall cleanup. Staff was very helpful and everything was done was very fast. Highly recommend!

This bicycle shop is friendly and very familiar with their product. I had a problem with the bike I purchased. They had a problem diagnosing it but kept at it until they solved the problem. They have also helped me with problems over the phone. I love my bicycle and the people at Colonial Bicycle.

Ive purchased two mountain bikes and a bike rack from these guys, all in separate transactions. Staff were friendly and helpful every time!Service is excellent - I brought in two bikes requiring adjustments ten minutes before closing. No complaining. They took care of both bikes and never once mentioned I kept them there after closing time.Hours are excellent as well - Its difficult to get to some of the other local bike shops when they are open. Colonial Bicycle Company is open 7 days/week, most days until 7pm.

I like that the shop is very proficient taking care of customers with high-end bikes. This is rare in my opinion. They are always very willing to help - Josh and Billy in particular recognize the importance of detail and getting the job done right... Billy is definitely an expert mechanic and was referred to my from a friend. I think Colonial should be considered a Shimano SSC. Thanks for all you do guys!

I have been using Colonial as my go to shop for a couple of years now. I do a lot of my own work at home but when I get stuck, Pete, Josh, and Billy always help me out. They are always willing to give me advice or fix my screw ups...and they are not snarky about it like a lot of bike shop employees tend to be. I send a lot of friends to the shop too and they always have the same experience.

I picked up a jacket and some Gu there today, and I made it a point to chat with as many employees as I could. Josh, the bike mechanic, was a pleasure to chat with, was very knowledgeable and he answered some technical questions for me. The other employee, on the other hand, was much less enjoyable to interact with. Identified only as one of the managers, he did not greet me, did not offer any assistance, and was very terse while answering some of my questions. His sarcasm and a lack of product knowledge were also noted. I dont know his name, but hes the guy with long, unwashed hair, a little on the heavy side, and who wont look up from his computer screen for anything- especially not to help customers. Although the prices are fine and the shop itself was tidy and spacious, I hope that if I ever go back for anything, that theres someone other than Greasy McJerkface to help me out.
