One of their rentals caused damage to my vehicle and they were unwilling to help me despite having pictures of the driver. They told me they didn’t know who they rented it to nor would they help. Assumed no responsibility for their vehicles on the road and I should’ve followed the vehicle if I wanted their information (while I had my infant in the car).Update: it looks like the owner replied and to that I say, if it’s that hard to identify your small fleet you should probably maintain their license plates (see pic for how damaged the plates are). You should also number your vehicles with easily identifiable numbers on the side. Those would be solutions. It sounds like they’re not interested in helping.
Really great independent spot! They saved my skin when another local place down the road left me hanging after not honoring a reservation. They didnt have an auger attachment for the skid steer I rented but promised to call me as soon as it was back and totally did later that day!Equipment rentals are priced well, and you can tell they maintain their stuff. Helpful staff when loading and very informative on features of what you are renting. They are now my go-to for equipment and tool rentals in the Portland area!
Awesome staff, friendly and helpful. Made the process very simple, be prepared to wait, and be patient. They work hard and do their very best to quickly load, and help customers as they come-in.
Quick and easy in and out. Very friendly service from the pay window to the staff helping you out. Some equipment is new some is well used but prices are decent for what you get. Ive rented a few excavators here and had better luck than at the other rental stores around town
Happy with rentals. Nice staff
Polite and courteous, I rented a spa trailer to move a hot tub and was greeted with evacuation notices once I returned to my home. Given the emergency, the front desk adjusted my bill for getting the trailer back late and did so without even asking. This is a great place, they went the extra mile in every step. Thank you!
The costumer service is actually great, the lady at the front is an amazing girl that does the impossible to act in your favor to make things easier and the most affordable possible. They are good hearted people and I owe them my business expansion, when I had bad times, they always supported me.I love them and consider them part of my team.Thank you guys.
Kim, had everything ready when i got there and everything worked as it should. Great service and equipment. I have used their service multiple times prior.
Always friendly and helpful with great prices on a large variety of construction rental equipment.
Efficient and considerate staffWell maintained equipment and facility
Super helpful group. The only place I rent from.
I have rented from them for 17 years good people
My husband was looking for a walk behind cement cutter to rent. This place was wonderful. It has so many different types of equipment to rent. The workers were very helpful.
Nice family business
I rent equipment for this place and every time they ask what is it for. Now I know how important are those questions even I am the guy that knows it all. They guide me to the proper size equipment that I need to get the job done safe and right. The rest is up to me.
They had just what I needed, at the right price. Good place.
The equipment is as advertised. The customer experience is terrible. For starters, we were quoted a weekly rate on a material lift that ended up being more than 2x the quoted rate. There was no written record of the initial phone call at the office, but the staff remembered the call and all details. All transactions are done in person, as I now realize, to avoid having written quotes.Upon arriving to arrange the pickup, I was told the delivery fee would be extra. No problem, I understand that. I stated I had an ability to return the lift myself at the end of the rental period and was told the delivery fee included return and advised NOT to return it myself. Come time to settle up, I was charged a delivery fee both ways with the explanation it takes time to do, so we have to charge. The delivery itself was several hours late, resulting in hourly help to have to stay longer. When the pickup was requested, I was told they were too busy to pickup that day, even though the lift had already been picked up at the time of the phone call (I was away from home and it was collected earlier in the day). No one is on the same page here.No solution or even acknowledgement was offered. Simply oh, yeah, thats what we charge. This equipment can be rented anywhere. Avoid the deceptive practices and rent from a more honest company.
We love Lewis Rents!! Kim, Mark, and Achmed always treat us like royalty, the prices are great, and they have always have even the most obscure tools in stock! As small business owners, we rely on the professionalism and knowledge always given to us by Lewis Rents. We highly recommend this business!Daniel and Shari GriegoADS Concrete and Masonry
LOVE THIS PLACE! They have been instrumental in fixing our fixer-upper up! Dont worry, you do not need to be a contractor or Bob Vila to rent here - average DIY folks are welcome! We (an artist and a writer) have rented everything from a Bobcat to a tamper to a sander. The customer service is amazing and I look forward to renting our next tool.
Been dealing with the guys and gals at Lewis rental for many years. The owner Vic is a great guy, and i believe it has been a family business for MANY years. These guys are local, experienced and have great prices. They have always carried quality products and their service is outstanding. I usually just need smaller equipment for work around my house, but I see lots of other toys in the back that i sure would love to try out!
This place has a great selection of fun toys.. Unfortunately they hold large deposits on top of the rental fees ($300 hold, $150 rent fee), and the girls that work there arent capable of taking the steps to release funds, even if you provide them with all the info to do so. In my opinion, one business holding onto another businesses money after an item has been returned and not willing to send a simple fax to a bank for the funds to be returned, isnt professional!
Have rented many times from them over the years (pressure washers, mowers, gas pole saws, power tools, etc.), and they are the BEST. Montavilla staple! I hope theyre around forever.
We prefer renting here. Equipment in good shape, good service. Local business.
My experience.... The rental was good. Then the next 24 hours my credit card was charged $1,000 . 5 different online orders, and 3 declined orders. They maxed my card out. I havent used this card in months. Only there where the lady made a carbon copy. Then when contacting the manager he let me know it wasnt any of his employees. Pretty rude. Not a good experience .
Boy oh boy, where to begin.I left a bad review here a few months ago, after a bad rental experience. I had tried speaking to the woman behind the desk about it at the time, and was struck by how dismissive and curt she was. In her defense, I had been in the wrong. However, if you don’t have the patience to respond to a customer’s misguided frustrations respectfully, don’t be surprised when people write bad reviews, misinformed as they may be.Returning to rent a truck today, I was informed that they don’t want my business. (Hey, fair enough.) The same woman from before told me that I would have to speak to the owner, and he wouldn’t be in till Monday. I asked if there was a way we could come to a mutual understanding. The answer I got was, essentially, “no.”The owner came out (turns out the woman was lying, and he was there after all. Classy.) and I spent the next forty minutes being talked at by both of them, often at the same time. I could have left and rented a truck elsewhere, but I was hoping to resolve this issue. Because I realized that I had, in fact, been wrong, and I hoped that we could all be adults about it. Boy was I incorrect. At no point in our forty minute conversation did the woman or the owner speak to me with anything resembling respect. I listened patiently to what they had to say, and every time I tried to respond I’d barely get a sentence out before being interrupted by one--or both--of them. I had to say multiple times, I cant hear either of you when youre both talking at me at the same time. Yes, I had to say this to two grown adults. When I tried to apologize for my part in the misunderstanding, they accused me of only apologizing because I wanted to get something out of them. Like, what? Yes, Im here to rent a truck. Thats how business works. I could rent a truck elsewhere, but Im here to try to rectify things with you. But instead of meeting me in the middle, you act like youre some hapless victim of a personal smear-campaign vendetta. Dudes, I left you a bad review. It happens, not everyone leaves satisfied. A good business will see when someones had a bad experience and look for ways to change that; a bad one will do anything within their power to avoid taking responsibility for the ways they may have handled a situation poorly. Plus, its not like Im the only one whos left you a bad review - one in five of your reviews are one or two stars. Let me guess: theyre all wrong, as well?Lewis Rents, I hope you learn to be more respectful and communicative to the people who rent from you. Sometimes people can be wrong, and a little patience and kindness can be the difference between a good review and a scathing one. And if someone is willing to listen to how they were wrong, admit that they were wrong, and apologize for being wrong, maybe try giving them the benefit of the doubt instead of accusing them of “just trying to get something out of us”. And if a formerly disgruntled customer is willing to come clean about how he was wrong, you may find it helpful to ask yourself if theres anything *you* did that contributed to the problem. You each had plenty ideas of all the myriad ways I could have done things differently... I think youd find a lot of benefit to redirecting even just a little bit of that criticism inwards. One last piece of advice, one I hope you actually take to heart: don’t gang up on your customers. Both of you talking at me at the same time in the middle of the store was disrespectful, unprofessional, and childish. There’s really no excuse for that sort of behavior. Your inability to communicate in a healthy way, to recognize how defensive and childish you were both behaving, is truly saddening. I’m guessing a lot of your one-star reviews could be avoided with just a little more communication, understanding, and grace on your part. Then again, if youre the type of business owner who called his lawyer the first time someone left a one-star review (Im not joking, the owner literally said this to me), Im not holding out much hope.
Best Portland rental place. Has saved me much labor, and my back, renting from them. Friendly and respectful.
Great team of experts there, especially that James fella. He told me all I need to know about using & renting dump trucks. When the time arises, Ill be sure to rent from these guys and no one else. They had me at hello!
These guys are the best place to rent heavy equipment in portland hands down! they have been around for like 50 years so you know they do business right! They have all the stuff I need but cant afford to own myself. If you need any kind of heavy truck rental of lift rental or really any kind of tool rental they got you covered!
Dont expect any kind of decent customer service. Went in to rent something and was treated very rude like by artman .I rented a large hose. After paying I was told it would be brought to me. I went to my truck. The guy came out and asked if I wanted the house and I said yes. He pointed to the house on top of a shelf inside their storage area and said there it is grab it. I dont think this was normal protocol so I said no. I dont feep comfortable grabbing it off the top of the shelf it was on. The guy got super mad and threw the house off the shelf towards me. I instantly reported to the lady I purchased with and left.
Theyve got a great team of people there. They know their stuff and their rates have been cheaper than Home Depots for everything Ive rented. But, my experiences have been so good at Lewis, I wouldnt bother renting at Home Depot even if they were cheaper. Im keepn it local.
Im a small contractor and DIY master (often to a fault ) and Im constantly doing jobs that require specialized equipment that I often dont own. The crew at Lewis Rents knows their equipment and their advice has always been spot on. Lewis Rents is a constant reminder why I love shopping local!
I rent a ton of stuff here. Friendly staff. Good prices. Always have what I need.
I am a plumbing contractor and have been renting trucks and tools here since I started my business. Its always a pleasure. Thank you Lewis Rents!
Ahmed and the whole gang are great to work with. Passed my CDL with their trailer.
The Best
I love the costumer sevice here.
Worst customer experience of any rental place I have used. I called two weeks in advance to rent a trailer, they said that they had two available, and would hold one for me for the date I needed it. Called 3 days ahead to make sure it would still be available, and they said that they couldnt guarantee that they would have a trailer by the day I needed it. I tried to see if I could come in and pay ahead of time, for all of the days, even the two extra days before I left, and they wouldnt allow it. They kept saying it would be fine, just call us the morning you need it. Called the morning I need it, and get Its been rented, and will not be available at all for you, not even tomorrow. I now have to cancel my trip, and reschedule, at additional cost to me (I had already rented and picked up the truck, over $500 cost to me). If I could give 0 stars I would. Its clear after many conversations, that they had no intent on renting me the trailer, but for some reason wouldnt just say it up front.
We use Lewis Rents for renting forklifts. The staff are always fair and helpful. We recommend them highly!
Dont buy it rent it.
Love these guys. You wish every business treated their customers so well
Great customer service. No problems whatsoever!
Rented a forklift here. Very friendly and helpful staff, large selection and seem to have anything you might need.
Done business with them forever. They know how to keep customers.
Love this place A bunch of kind and helpful people with just about any rental equipment you may need
This place had no idea what they are doing. Yea they are cheap. But thats the only good thing about this place
Always helpful,courteous, and friendly
Super nice staff great prices
I work for a general contractor and we needed a drywall cart last minute. I called 5+ rental companies before calling Lewis Rental and no one had what we needed. Lewis Rental had several drywall carts available, and shockingly, they beat everyone elses price by AT LEAST 50%. Choose Lewis Rental for your next project!
Good service fun People cheep price
I had a very good experience renting a car trailer. They were by far the cheapest of all the places I checked. I will rent from them again.
Charged me for an extra day. Werent clear upfront on how they charge! Very disappointing.
Always worth the trip and cant be beat
These guys rock! Best place in portland to rent any thing equipment wise. Seriously, they have whatever you need!
Slow service. Wasnt even sure who worked there to ask for help. No parking.
Not a lot of other options so its kind of tough 2 compared to anyone else but they almost always have what you need and I guess thats the bottom line isnt it?
Friendly staff great selection
They have a nice selection of equipment and have been wonderfully helpful to Harrison Park School.
Good small town service, great staff.
Good people. Good variety of tools
Worst rental place ever! Trucks are not road worthy and trailers are in terrible condition. They reserve a time for you, then when you show up to pick up equipment, they have rented it out to someone who needed it for a longer period of time you did. Dont waste your time here!
If you got what I needed and I was out of there
The staff is nice and very helpful
Very disappointed. Rented a sod cutter and it did not work. Guy had to come to our place. Also noticed on our account that they not only charged us $100 but also another $48. The cost should only be $48 and is not returned from Chase bank for over 5 days.
Great local service.
When we need major yardwork this is the place for the right equipment.
Local local local. Spend your money with these guys!
Nice people to work with there at Lewis Rents
Friendly family run.
Bring Me Down Home Depot and conveniently located
I called even though I dont know how to used they show you
