Danny has been my exclusive mechanic for about 16 years and I could not recommend him higher. I am a touring musician who had an old Dodge Ram van that Danny kept working for a decade longer than I ever imagined. Danny has also serviced my wife and my day to day vehicles and has been honest, done great work and has saved us thousands of dollars! Love his new location because it’s closer to my house and I’m writing this as I’m waiting for a tow truck because I just blew out my water pump on my Ford Explorer and guess where I’m taking it? Viva Danny!

My car’s check engine light was blinking, engine misfire codes. Had a mobile mechanic say it was fuel injectors. But that mechanic flaked on me when returning to fix. Took it to Danny, which I have gone to for years, but after this experience I felt like he just wanted my car wasnt going to make him enough money and he said it was just “bad gas” charged me $125 to use some carbon cleaner and asked me to pick my car up as soon as possible, and that was after I called there wondering why I hadnt hear anything all day and if they had an estimate yet. Picked my car up, check engine light still blinking and car running poorly. Took it to another mechanic and the misfire was diagnosed as fuel injectors just as the first mechanic suggested. Had them replaced and car runs like a dream and the check engine light is now off and has been for over 100 miles. I basically paid him $125 to plug in the OBD reader (which you can do for free at any auto parts store). Not the same business it used to be when it was on Halsey. I will never take my car there again.

We have been going to Danny for years. I do not trust any other shop with our vehicles. Although we no longer live in Portland anymore we made the drive all the way up from Woodburn just to have Danny fix our car. He is so honest and reliable! I can not say enough good things about this shop.

One friend living on Portland recommended this place.Our car got a big noise from a pipe under our car (just after one mecanic place on cave jonction on the south of Oregon) and the light engine was on 20 minutes before to arrive at Dannys place: he taken our car few hours. We recuperate our car for 50$ and the noise was fixed but the light engine come back the next day....We called him for to know if its important and he explained us what happen; its just some dust come back with the long travel on fuel tank cup and its secure. We prefer to know about the light engine and this cup tank when we recupered our car and not on the travel when the light come back because we miss some explain...

I normally dont do reviews, but after having an assessment done on my car for a scraping metal sound by Danny, he definitely tries to take advantage of people.A couple of weeks prior he talked me into the more expensive OEM wheel bearing for my car, and about three weeks later I started hearing a scraping metal sound coming from the front near the tires. I took it to him thinking it had something to do with the wheel bearing, and after his mechanic took the wheel off he came in with some bad news- my brake pads were at about 5% and the wear bar was scraping the rotor, causing the metal sound. He could change the rotors and pads for about $300 he said, but since Ive done this in the past on other cars, I did it myself.When I took the pads off, surprise, they were not at 5%, more like 40% (Danny told me I had about 1-2 weeks before it was going to be metal on metal) and the rotors were actually in good shape (I was also skeptical of the rotor replacement as there was no shimmying when I braked at high speeds.)Needless to say, since I already had the wheels and calipers off, I replaced the brake pads and the rotor just in case that was the reason for the scraping sound. After a quick test drive, the scraping sound was still there. So Danny was going to charge me for pads and rotors I didnt need, and it still wouldnt have fixed the problem. And after reading the other one-star reviewers post, I doubt Danny would have done anything about it.Those of you who love Danny and give him great reviews, I would maybe go get a second opinion somewhere else just to see if he really is the amazing, honest mechanic you think he is.

Had some engine noise and a hard start issue. Danny offered me an over priced engine flush or suggested a new engine. I paid $250 for an engine flush, didnt help anything. They also didnt bother to change the oil filter after the flush which is a must, so I changed the oil again myself and his mechanics over torqued the drain plug so much I needed a breaker bar to get it off... Terrible... Never again

Danny has always done good work on my car for a really fair price. Once he even told me not to go to him because someone else would do it cheaper. Honest shop that does good work.

I took the subaru that I had bought from danny four months ago in for a routine oil change. He called and told me that I need a new radiator. I pay him $500 for the new radiator plus oil change, 3 days later engine in subaru blows up. I call Danny. Danny says Thats weird, Im sorry, next time I get a car to sell Ill give you a really good price. Meanwhile my family is out almost 4k and we have no car. Thanks Danny, but Ill pass on that really good deal though.

Excellent! I took my car in one evening because of a strong gas smell- it turns out a squirrel had chewed the fuel line and was causing it to leak- and it was all fixed by the next morning for a very reasonable price. Nice people too :)

The repairs done at this automotive repair shop was done Superior and the cost to fix the car was very reasonable. In fact the owner Danny even work with me on some of the pricing and I do have to say he is the most funniest person to get to know and he has a wonderful personality about himself. I would highly recommend is shop for anyone needing car repairss as he does top notch repairs.

If I could give a rating higher than five stars, Dannys Auto would surely deserve it. Danny is a stellar human being and has fixed my car cheaply and promptly, even when other mechanics advised me to scrap it. I cannot recommend him enough.

Called up the shop to inquire about a tire nail repair, Danny answered and gave the great price of 15$ where other places quoted me from 25$ to 75$!! Brought my car in and Danny and his co-worker quickly got to work on my car, pulled the offending nail from my tire and I was on my way right quick. Will take my car to Dannys again in the future for the excellent service from this great neighborhood auto shop!

Man! I have been a google plus member for almost 2 years now and finally needed to write about this Danny guy! Danny is the man!! I know a few mechanics out there but Ed is undoubtly the most trustworthy/knowledgeable guy/mechanic youll ever know..he will not B.S. you..and definitely will not recommend more than what you need! ....Hes so honest, I want him to recommend more than what I need! But really, if your car got problems, Danny is the MAN!!

I brought my gross Corolla in to have the axles fixed and Danny(the owner) as well as Jun worked on my car quickly and charged way less than other shops I went to =) LOVE THIS PLACE AND WILL NEVER GO ANYWHERE ELSE!

I cant say enough good things. Ive been going to Danny for 3 years and he always gives me an honest price, doesnt try to get me to buy things I dont need, and often cuts me a deal on work. I love that he is almost always able to squeeze me in for an oil change or work without an appointment or previous notice.

First off, Ive never written a yelp review before-- because I have never been so infuriated by a places service.Took my car to Danny once about a year ago-- had a relatively positive experience. Thought Danny seemed like a nice, honest guy. He was able to fix a problem with my starter that another mechanic was not able to resolve. Thus, he earned my respect. Seemed like he tried to smooth talk me a bit with his broken English but I didnt think much of it because my car problem was fixed.Anyways, I came here ago a couple weeks ago because my radiator needed to be replaced. He said he could put a brand new radiator in for me in 1 days work. So, I left my car there. And just like last time, I was impressed because he began working on it right away. It was nice because most places Ive been to hold your car hostage for 1-3 days!I picked my car up later that day and everything seemed to be fine. However, about two days later, my car temp gauge light came on. I went back down and talked to him and he insisted that it was fixed and that I needed to reset the warning lights. So I had the lights reset and the light was still coming on. He told me that my light was broken and misreading a problem. This is when I became skeptical.I took my car to another mechanic-- one Ive used for years but my only complaint about him is he keeps my car for up to a freaking week. He has always done great work. Anyways, he looked up the model number and serial # on the radiator that Danny gave me-- and it was a USED one that he likely pulled from some scrapyard somewhere. He charged me for a new one, too.I went and confronted him about it. I kept my cool and didnt get mad. I simply asked for a refund. And all he said was sorry no refund, you paid in cash then turned his back on me and walked off.This guy needs to be reported to the Better Business Bureau-- worst experience I have EVER had with a mechanic. Avoid this guy at all costs-- the only thing good about this guy is how fast he gets to work on your car. You will get your car back quickly but with used or cheap parts that may not last very long. In my case, the radiator didnt last a week.I had a friend use this guy which is how I found him a year ago. Dont let his broken English and quiet demeanor fool you-- he is an extremely corrupt mechanic that you should avoid at all costs.AVOID this guy and tell your friends to avoid him, too!!!

Just visited Danny to have some routine maintenance work performed, I dropped my car off around noon, and by the time I left work, he had completed the repair items! Fast and quality workmanship, competitive pricing, and proximity to my apartment means that I will certainly patronize Dannys Auto Repair in the years to come.
