This was my first time ever going to a workout facility, I chose Planet Fitness due to their location being very close so it would be very convenient for me. I just really wanted to check it out and see if it was something I might be interested in due to wanting to live a healthier life and look a lot better doing it. I was very impressed by the friendliness of the staff and how they were very knowledgeable about their job. This place is very clean and offers amazing options of different things you can do and try. I was very surprised and happy about the cleanliness of this place also because that is very important to me. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to start working out and bettering their health!

Best planet fitness Ive ever seen. Not the place for everyone to lift but it has most of what most people need to get a workout.Its clean, comfortable and convenient.Definitely a great value.

Great gym. I’m so much bigger now. Friends and relatives tremble in my presence. Teachers ask my permission to use the bathroom. My high-school crush left her husband for me and my new abs.

Clean facility with helpful staff. Love how I can go state to state and know the general layout as they are all pretty similar. Plenty of cardio equipment and a decent mixture of weight lifting equipment.

Favorite part of my day is going to planet fitness they not only have the best cardio equipment and workout equipment but they have a hydro massage bed that is to die for plus you can use the tanning bed and. And you can get somebody to give you a personal workout program. Best of all its only $23

Probably the dirtiest Planet Fitness I’ve been to. The machines have definitely seen some use and the walls look like they need a fresh coat of paint. The front desk worker was friendly and helpful though.

Great, clean, non judgemental gym Ive ever attended, after having to take a brief about of down time . I find that i wouldnt go anywhere else. My return will be coming shortly.

Decent place and nice staff, some equipment could use a much needed upgrade and repairs other that that my only problem is you can’t cancel a membership or handle anything with you account online or over the phone, it must be in the club and that dosnt work well when you get charged unexpectedly while your 6 hours north and can’t dispute things till a week later

Keep in mine that no matter what situation, broken limbs, no car, they will not help you cancel your membership unless you go there in person and cancel it. They will keep billing you until you cancel it in person. Even if they say yes well help you cancel it they wont, unless you go there in person

I enjoy working out here. Friendly staff and very knowledgeable and available if I have any questions. Judge free zone. Makes me feel nice and relaxed.

I was able to go in couple times without my bf and we have black card membership, but I guess this blonde lady didn’t want me to workout without my bf present. I’m sure they’re gonna scam us like other comments in here.One of my coworkers, relies on black card member friend who works at planet fitness but he doesn’t work out when he’s at the counter does he? Lol. Don’t get black card membership.

First time in the gym since covid. The staff was polite and courteous. Wearing the mask is still mandated which is somewhat UNcomfortable when you get to working up a sweat, but I understand the Necessity. Tanning booths were clean.

My home gym! The staff know me by name and make me feel very welcome, greeting me with a hello Scott as I walk in.The facility is always clean, and staff also cleaning while Im there working out.The equipment is never down and if it is not for long, well maintained for sure.Free weight section is not as large as a typical gym but good enough to do what you need to do. I have never in the few years I have had a membership had anything to complain about.One last thing, about the pizza and donuts... Its a choice, I love the fact that they are real about life. Small rewards 1 time a month WILL NOT derail your fitness journey at all! So eat a piece, or dont. But dont hate them for showing love to the members that work their butts off to enjoy a little pizza or a donut once a month!I love my Portage Planet Fitness, its my home gym and I was able to lose over 40 lbs. The work you put in reflects your results not the gym you go to. 9

Clean facility with friendly staff. Plenty of equipment so very little waiting.

Place is generally clean, staff overall is friendly and helpful. I appreciate that the clientele is typically just your average person - usually no loud meat heads or women in overly revealing attire. My husband and I enjoy working out here.The masks at all times rule is strictly enforced right now (tried to take mine off just to say something to my husband while I took a drink of water and one of the female staff scolded me) which those reading this review may or may not be happy about. The place definitely is not nearly as crowded as it used to be, especially during the colder months when exercising outdoors is much more difficult.Edit: I realized I didnt include an important detail after I got a response to my review - I put my membership on hold yesterday due to the mask requirement and being unable to properly breathe during my workouts.

They dont follow directions, when requesting closure of accounts.

This gym is very clean and workers are very friendly and helpful. I met the owner and he was excellent as well. The workers have very good customer service skills. They are always happy to answer all of my questions. There is workout equipment for everybody from beginners to people that are just keeping up with staying in shape. Also, I love all the extra perks with being a black card member! They have a hydromassage bed that gives an awesome massage with.... youve guessed it water!! They have stand up tanning as well as beds and the red light stand up booth that helps with skin imperfections. They also give away pizza once a month and donuts once a month. I would definitely recommend this gym! Regular membership $10 a month black card membership $23/mo you cant beat these prices with everything that comes with the membership!

Clean gym with everything you need to get in shape. Location is perfect, right in portage near everything. Can’t beat all the amenities for the price. All the employees always have smiles and are super friendly. Wife and I highly recommend Planet Fitness.

There are three men that come in every morning(9AM-ish) (one carries a blanket of some sort) that stare at multiple women just trying to workout. It is super uncomfortable and I hope staff says something.

Its always clean, including the locker room and shower areas. I especially like the way the parking lot is lit up at night. I feel safe going to the gym late at night.

Cant workout in peace. They do not limit the number of people coming into the gym but then will follow you around and tell you that you cant be in a certain area because there are too many people even though they limited half the machines

My husband and I love this location. They have plenty of machines and a good variety. We went at 8:00 PM and it wasnt very busy. Also, it has great lighting which is very important to my husband who is visually impaired. So, I guess if youre visually impaired/legally blind, this is a good gym to go to! Ha!

I came in to the Planet Fitness in Portage while touring all the gyms in the area. From the second I walked in I could tell how much of a difference it was going to be. Every question and concern I had was met with a thought out and friendly answer. The staff here is extremely well trained and knowledgeable. I am excited to have such a clean and welcoming place to come workout. The price cant be beat and that is just one of the many perks.

Ive moved, repeatedly, from city to city. Ive met dozens of employees. Everybody knows how to act in public. Always smiling, greetings and salutations, quick service and easy parking. At the Portage location, guest services rep Michael, makes you comfortable working out at 3am. Hes attentive, alert, helpful, and nice. Like, hes nice, on purpose. I wish we had thousands of Michaels. Compensate this kid well.

Only downfall is no free weights. It is a great place to start lifting and work your way up to a new gym. So far I have had awesome results from going to Planet Fitness. The cost for a membership is very reasonable.

Just fyi, these guys are absolutely money hungry. Due to a family member being sick I had to be out of the state, and was trying to cancel over the phone before the membership renewed. They refused to let me. Proceeded to charge me 45 dollars for a year of gym usage, even though I havent used the facility at all for a full month prior, and wont be able to use it at all for the coming. So thanks very much planet fitness for scamming me 50 + dollars and being absolutely unreasonable. Will be telling everyone I know to steer clear of this horrendous staff and gym.

I really enjoy the fact that I can visit any location anywhere in the country. They are generally cleaner than other gyms and more affordable.

What a comfortable and friendly place. The staff are amazing and management are on point. Clean, polite and always willing to help. I was a former trainer and there training staff is second to none! Go see for yourself, you wont be disappointed!

My wife and I visit here pretty often and due to her black card were not limited to just one planet fitness. We live closer to the Stadium Drive location, but I personally prefer this location over any others. Staff is friendly, gym is very cleaned and usually theyre not swamped with gym goers.

By far one of the most affordable, and nicest gyms. For $10 a month, you get a basic membership. For $20, you get a black card which includes tanning, massage chairs & beds and additional perks. I cant think of another place that I can get all of that for just $20! It does get busy, but everything is maintained and when there is any sort of issue, its resolved quickly.

Lots of equipment and amenities for even a basic user. Classes are varied and free, machines are in good repair, equipment is clean and almost always available. Ive never walked into gross showers, bathrooms, and locker rooms to date.The atmosphere is non-judgmental - people leave you alone, which I adore.

Its very clean and not usually too busy. But the staff could be friendly/better trained in customer service. A lot of times they dont smile as they check you in or as youre leaving. The other day two of the staff were talking to someone who was obviously a feiend, and they just reached an arm out to scan my card. As I left I smiled and said by and got a monotone have a nice day with blank expression. But I like the location and facility.

The Portage location is the BEST planet fitness Ive ever been to. The gym area, locker room, and bathroom are always really clean. And the customer service is amazing! The workers at the front desk are always super friendly and helpful. Everyone in the Kalamazoo area should go to the Portage location!

Great place to get a quick workout in. Love that I can use any location with the black card membership. Tanning and massage are great perks too. Only $22 bucks a month and $39 once a year. Much cheaper than other gyms of similar style.

I love how I can tailor a workout that is just for me with the certified personal trainer and take unlimited classes with the Black Pass. I have previous injuries I am working with so it is important to me to get the right advice and to work on problem areas in just the right way. It is really worth it to pay the little bit extra to get the extras. I also enjoy using the Total Body Enhancement, Tanning, chair and Hydro Massages. I get discounts on some purchases in store and online as well, and I can work out at a Planet Fitness location wherever I am in the U.S. just like I would at the one I usually go to.The place is always very clean, and I feel like I know the staff well and they are very nice and friendly and respectful. The shower area is the ultimate in privacy and even has changing rooms within a few feet away with privacy as well.The other people who go there are at different levels of fitness and some have visible physical issues they are working on and nobody thinks anything of it. I have found people who go there to be welcoming and friendly. It truly is a judgement free zone! Honestly, I will not go anywhere else now, not after what I am experiencing so far.

This is one of the most well maintained facilities I have ever been a member. Both with the servicing of machines and the fact that whenever I go in there at least one if not more of the employees are out cleaning. Definitely recommend.

My boyfriend and I go there at least three times a week, trying to get in shape, the place is huge, has so many different weight machine or treadmill!! Very clean, employees are friendly. Great place to work out. I so do recommend this place to everyone.

Really is a nice no judgement zone. The cost is cheap and what they offer is well worth it! The Tanner, massage tables and IR tanner is a nice add on. 22 a month for full access. The discounts for the black card members are nice as well. So if your a slouch or just want to excerise and stay fit then this place is for you. You wont regret this gym what so ever.

Very focused gym with well-maintained equipment. Wish it had classes and more than one personal trainer. Month-to-month is available. Teens are welcome. When Google Live works you can easily beat the crowds.

Great gym. Everyone keeps to themselves and focuses on their workouts. They have plenty of machines, especially for cardio. The wait time for strength machines is never too bad. I love the quality of the machines. They also have TVs to jack your earbuds to, showers, and changing rooms. For more $$$, you can have additional gym benefits.

The staff are always friendly and the equipment is always clean and well-maintained. As someone who attends the gym regularly and goes in with a plan, Planet Fitness works really well for my budget. The locker room is always clean and I never have a problem getting on the equipment that I need. I go early in the morning (6:30a), but they provide you with a sheet at signup showing how busy they are at all times of the day. I havent had any problems with Planet Fitness charging me unauthorized charges as I am not in contract and only pay the $10/month membership fee. My gym expectations are simple access to dumbbells, barbells, weight machines, and a good variety of cardio machines for an inexpensive cost, and Planet Fitness Portage fits the bill.

I hated going to the gym because of the atmosphere. PF has a great atmosphere and its never too busy when I go.

Clean environment, friendly staff. This is one of the nicer gyms that I have been too. The machines I want to use are usually always available.

Awesome place!

The policy for ending a membership is ridiculous! I tried calling, explaining I won’t be able to drive to PF to close my account because recent health issues and they said “oh well!” Awful customer service and zero understanding ability.

Most of what was once their nice equipment is truly starting to show their age. There were at least 4 machines throughout the facility broken. Not to mention one of the changing stalls in the womens locker room has the main, the part that secures the door shut, is broken. However, they do have alot of cardio machines to choose from and the layout of the gym has a great flow to it. The tanning beds are really nice as well.

This planet fitness was smaller than what Im used to in BC, just went there because I was in the area, but It was very clean, and well maintained, the staff was friendly. I enjoyed my workout there.

Love this gym. Been coming here for over a year now. Just thought Id mention that Ive noticed a termite or two wandering around. Somebody might wanna get that checked out. I had problems with termites a year ago & they got really bad because it went ignored until they swarmed.

I love working out and tanning here they also have massage chairs and beds

I currently have multiple gym memberships around the kalamazoo/portage area and this one by far is the best to go to if youre looking for a simple workout. I go here for the vast amount of cardio machines but am always impressed by the staff and cleanliness of the equipment. Its nice that even during busy times I can still get my cardio in!

Joined in Feb-2016. $19.99 per month for access to all the extras. They are only supposed to take out ANNUAL fees once a year. So far, theyve taken out that fee of $39.99 twice in 4 months. How is that an ANNUAL fee? By the time you pay the monthly amount plus those fees, you end up paying about $350 a year. Ive seen A LOT of bad reviews and now I wish I wouldve read them before I joined. One common theme I see is rude employees behind the counter and when you ask to speak to a manager, they arent available. If you want to stop going there, they will make it miserable for you. The best advice I have is notify your bank to stop unauthorized charges from Planet Fitness, start up a new account, even though its a pain in the rear, take your money and invest it in a REAL gym.

I had a horrible first experience while traveling for work at a Planet Fitness in Texas with the lunk alarm going off with its loud WEE WOOOO WEEE WOOOOO. I complained to management and they gave me a free day pass to the Portage, MI location where I was traveling next for work. With trepidation I went there and had a wonderful time. The staff was warm and welcoming. I had a tour with the manager who was more than accommodating and showed me around the gym. I feel like good people dont get enough recognition, and I really want my small voice to be heard this very large world of ours. Thank You!

Planet fitness has me going to the gym on a regular basis again. This specific location has machines on great repair, and is always clean.

Very affordable gym memberships. Equipment is well maintenance and staff is very friendly.

Nice clean facility, not as big as the Stadium location but worth it for the cheap membership. Gets really busy during the week between 5 and 6 but I think most gyms do.

Absolutely love this gym & the staff makes it that much better!!!!
