I had been to this establishment about a year ago with the exact same request, to transfer files from internal hard drives I’d removed from older family computers onto an external 1.5 TB drive I’d purchased.The gentleman that owned the establishment at that time was very receptive and congenial and a pleasure to speak to.I’d expected that when I called there yesterday morning, the gentleman I spoke with was the same individual I’d dealt with a year before. Told him I had a few older internal drives I needed data transferred to an external drive. He told me he could do it immediately.I arrived a few minutes after 12:00 to a sign that said “Open” however a smaller sign on the door said “be back at 1:30” (because he takes lunch form 12:00 to 1:30).I returned at 1:30, met him at the front door and I immediately recognized it was not the same man I had dealt with a year earlier. I asked him if he was the new owner and or an employee and he stood there and didn’t utter a word to me. It was rather awkward, but I decided since I was already there, I’d tell him what I needed, and his reply was he could provide the services I needed and he’d have it done that same afternoon. His fee was $89, where the previous owner (wish I’d asked his name) charged $50.I left him both of my internal drives and the external plus my instructions for naming the directories and my contact info. He was to call me when he was done with the transfer a few hours later.At 3pm I hadn’t heard from him l, so I called there and got the answering machine. I left a very detailed message and waited for a return call. My detailed message was a reminder that the my phone number was area code 914, not 941 as I had told him hours earlier. I got no return call that afternoon.The following morning, by now 11:30am, still no phone call from Dave! At that point I called him, once again getting his answering machine and leaving a message saying that I was annoyed and to cease the data transfer if he hadn’t already started it.Jumped in my car an got there at 11:50. As he greets me at the door, I tell him I’m somewhat annoyed I haven’t heard from him after his promise I’d have the drives hours after I dropped them off the day before. His response is “I called you 4 times this morning”.Umm “no you did not, I’m sure you dialed 941 rather than 914” is my reply. He walks over to his pad, looks at his notes from the day before and responds “oh, my bad”.Honest mistake, it’s happened many times, so I begin to ask him why he didn’t listen to the voice mail I left him yesterday clearly explaining the area code issue, to which he replies, “um, I’m not going to let you interrogate me”, at which point I asked for my drives and left.Dave, here’s some advise, if you’re going to do business with the general public, be courteous and kind to your patrons, like the previous owner, and not a rude condescending stick in the mud! You need us, we don’t need you!

Took my Mc into the Mac store. They said it could not be repaired reasonable price. Discount COMPUTER repaired a part on the motherboard. Works like new!!!!

Stopped and asked a few questions. I have NEVER been treated so poorly. Would never do business with this low life place.UPDATE: His response is so not true. I bet Ive told 20+ people NOT to go there!! Sorry Charlie. LOSER!!

They built a beautiful server for my business after diagnosing my network and telling me where was a problem with my old server. The entire network now runs much better.

My Dell was running so slow it couldnt open any websites. They fixed it for me and now it runs like new!!

My elderly mother brought her computer here to help rid it of malicious software. A keyboard I gave her had also stopped working. The “professional” told her the keyboard itself was broken and couldn’t be repaired. He also claimed to have resolved the malicious software issues. Upon visiting her over a weekend, I replaced the lightning cable and the keyboard worked fine. I also used known programs to resolve 89 PUP malware and 2 keyloggers with Chinese origin. I uninstalled the 4 programs meant to help with security and installed one. Her computer is working fine and she got all of that done for free which was way more effective than the $80 she wasted here.UPDATE to RESPONSE: Not wrong. She couldnt use the computer because they keyboard wouldnt work so all of the malware that was on the computer was not added after she got the computer back from you but was still there even despite your professional services. You told her the keyboard was broken when, in fact, it just needed a new lightning cable. It would be nice if you would just own up to your mistakes and try to make it right instead of yelling on the internet, but I guess thats what you get from professionals!

I told the owner what I wanted and left a page with all the directions. Told him I didnt wan my music and photo files moved from my old computer to my new one. I knew they were big filed. I wanted him to load my business email on my new computer with all my associated files. I wanted him to set up a second user, my wife, with her own identity and email account. It was during Covid-19. He took my information and computers and worked on them. When he was done he told me to pick them up in a plastic box out by his fence. There was supposed to be a receipt in the box as I paid in cash. It was originally supposed to be $100 to transfer my information. When I got there the bill was $180. He said my music and photo files were huge and he had to spend extra time on moving them that what the extra charge was for. I originally told him not to move those files because they were too big. OK, now lets get to the work I wanted done. I have a business email address for my commercial real estate business. I have had it for many, many years. I wanted to have access to all my contacts with that email address. My computer came back with an email address I have never seen and there was no access to my contacts or previous files. I legally have to retain these files for 5 years. When I called him he was on the defensive right away. I can only say that he was abusive and did not try, in any way to fix the problem. He only left me with one solution, go to someone else. I didnt want money back I only wanted my real estate files and other information to be available. This guy will accuse you of all kinds of things to escape his shoddy work ethic. Dont fall for this. I will never go back. Beware!

OMG there is an Honest repair guy. Looked at it and told me I didnt need another computer. Fixed it quickly and charged only 1/2 of what I thought it COST.

We have a Sony all in one computer that BEST BUY told us would take 2 weeks to fix. We saw Discount Computer on the way home so we stopped in just to see what they could do. They fixed it in 2 days at half the price of Best Buy.

My gateway laptop would not start. TECH FAST said that it had a bad motherboard. I took it to Discount Computer Repair for a second opinion. They looked at it and said the memory card came loose. They didnt even charge me. Careful who you deal with.

Laptop would freeze at the Windows screen after an automatic update. Took it in for repair. Told it was a software issue, would cost $90+ to fix. Picked it up, and it worked for 4 days (probably until the next automatic update) and the problem started all over again. Took it back (had to wait from 9:30 am, when the store was scheduled to open, until 10:15, when the owner finally arrived) and was told that now it needed a complete diagnostic but he couldnt give me a price. In short, he never fixed the problem and I am out $90+ and almost an hour of my time.

Discount Computer Repair was an excellent shop that repaired my laptop. I had a lenovo g570 and the entire bottom part of the laptop fell off, they completely replaced and fixed everything. I will make sure to come here again if I have any computer related problem.

I totally disagree with the no customer serve comment below. I had my HP LAPTOP fixed there and they spent a great deal of time explaining to me how to avoid malware in the future.

I was very disappointed in dealing with Discount Computer Repair. I came in, not for repair, but for a new computer, something that was going to be able to play the latest games as well as, be a very good platform for my mother. I had listed out the specifications that I wanted for the computer. It was all there in black and white. For some reason or another, when I got home, I looked up the specifications, what I received was no-where near what I had asked for. We were charged $375.00. I would list the things I requested and the things I received, but I dont think most people would understand it.(Now keep in mind, I used to build computers, but since all of these new components have come out it kind of lost me, so I left it to someone else. I can, however, report that the motherboard and processor I received were obsolete, and cost 49.99 on Newegg, a very popular computer parts company)My mother and I went back to the store and spoke with Dave, directly. I told him that I didnt get anywhere near what I specd out. He agreed there was a lack of communication on both parts, but he would sort it out. He asked exactly what things I was looking to do with the computer and what things I expected out of it when he realized I was asking for a NEW up-to-date computer, not something that would just get me by...Apparently it clicked and we agreed that what was built before, just wouldnt do for my needs. He tells us we can take the first computer home and use it in the meantime until the NEW one is built. I speak with him on the phone about a week later and Dave tells me about how much its going to be, he says hell credit me $375 toward the new build, as we agreed the first unit would be returned. Total was going to be around $550-600. I call back the next day to let him know that we can go ahead with the new build, but please keep me informed on the video card that he planned to use. I expected to hear back from him I never did.One month passes. At this point there has been NO communication from him. The whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth to the point that I dont even want to call and speak with him. Thus leaving this review. I feel as if I got stuck with a computer I did NOT want. (It wont even play games from 2007). I dont know if he even had any intention of making the whole situation right. As I said before, I do know computers and parts, just not as well as I used to, but again, the parts were VERY cheap, not in construction, but computer parts get cheaper as they get older, obviously. This machine that I got stuck with could have been put together for much cheaper than I was charged, Including the labor.I have purchased 3 machines from him total, so he knew my mother and I well. I dont understand how you can get so far off the mark when I listed on a sheet of paper that they use for new builds, exactly what I wanted.One of my previous machines had a motherboard problem, so I brought it in and a few days pass. My mother picks up the salvageable parts from him and All I received was my hard disk and my old video card. I didnt get the processor back, I didnt get the memory back, nor the CD drive.
