I have been attending here for 2+ years. The staff has always been nothing but friendly and professional. I would not choose any other location for my needs.
Overall, most of the social workers and nurses there were very sweet. on the other hand, the group therapy is a joke. it’s just full of kids who are acting like their okay just to get out.
My experience here was, by far, the worst Ive dealt with as far as my psychiatrist and nurse went. My psychiatrist didnt help alleviate any of my issues, and entirely dismissed all of my concerns, almost as if I was a lab rat instead of a person in need. The medicine that she put me on caused more problems than it helped. Being a schizophrenic that had recovered from my positive symptoms, she provided no assistance in helping with the negative symptoms. Since the medication i was on reduced stimulation in both of the main dopaminergic pathways, I was constantly tired and unable to speak effectively. She should probably be required to go through medical school a 2nd time and learn that hallucinations and delusions arent the only issues that schizophrenics face. I was able to help myself more in 2 weeks of reading articles on Google Scholar than she did in 2 1/2 years of being my psychiatrist.
The only reason Im giving it any stars is because I believe the people here think theyre helping. Its right next to a project full of drugs. The group therapy is a joke, full of people who cant wait to get out of there. I cant even get anyone to answer the phone when I call! I genuinely dread every single time I am forced to go here.
I wont go in to detail, but, I did NOT have a good experience here. Most likely, they are understaffed and poorly funded. If you can afford to go somewhere else, I recommend doing so. There are better behavioral health facilities in the region. But, many of the patients that receive care here have very limited options. Also, I believe the majority of the employees here truly care about their patients.Im not sure if my experience matches what others have experienced, but, Ive been blessed enough to have the option of going to four other behavioral health facilities, and this one ranks last.Everyones experience is unique though, especially when it comes to behavioral care. For some, I imagine Mercy has truly improved their quality of life. So, just because I had a bad experience, that does not mean you will. Behavioral care is very complex and complicated and there are a lot of variables that play in to the care you might need.Dont let my review dissuade you from going here. It might be the exact place you need to get better. Im just one patient out of hundreds, maybe thousands, that come through their doors every year.
Most of the staff are wonderful and caring. Ive never really had an issue. Getting to see a psychiatrist is a little difficult (have to be put on a waiting list and have to attend a certain amount of therapy sessions). But overall I love it. Theyre very friendly towards LGBTQ+ and trans folks. And they have gender neutral bathrooms, wheelchair accessible bathrooms, entrance, parking lot, and elevator.
Terrible. Was told over the phone that intake was Mondays and Thursdays from 9am-3:30pm and 9am-6pm. I get here about 5 or 10 after 3pm Monday. Front desk tells me that the intake people left for the day a little over a half an hour ago. So, I ended up being stuck. Because I had no way to get home other than the transportation they provide. But if you dont see anyone, you cant get the transportation. So, basically depending on what you need you better get there extra early because they will leave. Even if theyre not off yet. Then when you finally do get seen, it can take up to 3 or 4 months to see your actual therapist. Now, if you suffer from depression and you have no meds. The chances of keeping those appointments are slim. So, then you most likely miss your appointment, and have to restart the process again. And who knows when youll have a good day when the depression isnt eating at you, making so you cant even leave your home. I just dont understand the logic of how they work at this place. Smh
Other than being told i make stuff up... I enjoy my mbh experiences. The women up front do a stand up job and thet are very welcoming.
Unethical use off line meds not researched as Evidenced Based for the Mental health DSMV Diagnosis given. The Professionals Psychiatric Guidelines established are not followed as readily available to an Patient Educated. Instead of providing Professional Evidence of determined Care Plan and able to answer questions. Care is Abandoned not changing or creating an effective Plan, no Physical Health is monitored by reviews of related known side effects of Medications such as a fatal arhythmia I just became aware of. I have Specialists for Primary use of the Off Line drugs who chose not to have me take them, nor did Psychiatrist consult the use to its effect on the Specialist Treatment plan for my Safety.I am Treated as an Addict Denied effective Treatment without a Neuropsychiatric Addiction Physical Diagnosis or speaking to my long term Therapist of any risks to. Therapist as a part of my team has never been contacted for his Professional respected input for my Recovery plan.Psychiatrist AGH no different. Its all become Psychiatrist CYA to keep their pay instead of Ethically Safe and Education for Treatment Plan and Monitor ALL factors of me as a whole. I am paying for poor care and my Insurance is just as guilty as the government for poor monitoring that is just Common sense preestablished by the Professionals Psychiatric Standards they should abide by without any Legal concern as their Practice evidence supported. If I am not an Addict I am not at risk to be one and have evidence of the contrary my Professional wont even respond to out of their own Psychiatric illnesses of Anxiety, Insurance and Facility Control from lack of any Rationale Evidence for denial of Treatment. I have fallen to pieces hoping I dont have to wake up to deal with the Insanity because I am a whole their Psychi is blind too.Healers need Heal themselves before they can heal me. I dont see it in my Lifetime ! They see no Crisis or address them they go home and know a patient death is their relief not to have to deal with them and move on to next paying patient. Its Bad Business for all that have little Faith in their Professional capacities and more pathetically themselves as a Healer. I am Responsible for my Recovery and the unavailable Professionals are why I have no control anymore, I am on my own.
They seem to be professional shufflers here. You go for an appointment and your doctor is no longer there, youre seeing a nurse and shes more confused than you are. Such a shame because extra care needs to be given with mentally ill patients and they confuse and frustrate you.
When i first started going here, it was difficult. i had to wait 3 months for a first, initial appointment. i found that to be insane, especially for those who may be having a worse time than me. Recently they began a new scheduling system so your appointment (even new) should be seen within 14 days (maybe longer for new, but certainly not MONTHS). The old scheduling way, i wouldve rated this business 3 stars. the new one is a little better. since the schedule system is at a call center, you arent on hold at the office forever. The downside is the background noise at the center is so loud when scheduling. oh well, still better :)
Had to wait a long time just to get an appt maybe like a month in a half then when i got 1 I met with a lady who seemed kinda disintrested in what was going on and more focused on just perscribing me anti depressants. I saw her twice and on the second visit she told me she was leaving the office and i would have to see somone else. Well i met with that person a week ago and she seemed over worked and even more disintrested in anything I had to say which frustrated me greatly I dont do well with ppl who give me attitude or display unneeded frustration in there body language. She also told me that what my previous phycologist prescribed me would have made me worse and prescribed me a mood stablizer. I did not have any good experiences with this facility the only reason it gets 2 stars is because its close to me
Warning. Do not go here. You will regret it. Ive never had such a terrible experience in psychology until I went here. First off in order to even have an appointment here they tell you to call back Monday at 9am. Now if you really have a mental disease like depression you would know that nobody is going to wake up at 9am just to make an appointment in this god awful place. Second off who the hell wants to go to a place that is sitting right next to horrible projects where there are shootings, prostitutes, drug dealing galore. Third off Ive found that the majority of the people who go here dont even suffer severely from mental diseases, their just there to get papers signed for the court. I have other reasons why you shouldnt go there that cant be posted so if your interested feel free to email me and Id be happy to tell you why you should stay away from this awful place.
