So I took Joe to see Ken the barber and what a great experience. Ken and his human relations professional Mugsy, welcomed us warmly. Joe got a great haircut and beard trim, and the senior discount sweetened the deal.

Great service and nice clean shop but the haircut itself left something to be desired. Not like they totally botched it or anything; it just wasnt very good.

Tony was kind, funny, and patient with my son and his massive head of hair. Even had some fun and made changes as he emerged from Covid Over Growth. Great shop. As a busy person working in a pandemic emergency the greatest gift of all was online scheduling I made it easy and efficient for me to check a need off my list.

Ive had Ken cut my hair a few times since I moved into the neighborhood. Im one of those people that usually hates going to the barber and have a half hour conversation, but Ive always had a great time talking with Ken and Im surprised the time flies so fast. This is probably the only barber Ive ever experienced that with.Also, he always does a great job with the cut. I usually do a pretty basic mens cut, but some other barbers manage to mess it up. After the first time I never needed to explain what I wanted again, he just asked if I wanted anything different and to remind him how long I wanted the sides.On one of my first cuts (before the pandemic,) I came in for a really quick trim and he worked so fast that he didnt even charge me. I got a cut during the pandemic and he realized I was fairly broke due to my industry being shut down (I work in concerts) and he refused to charge me again. Hes a really great dude in addition to being a really great barber. I highly recommend him.

I always go to Curtis. So not sure about the rest, but everyone elses customers seem happy too. I never know how to communicate what I want done to my hair, but Curtis always somehow figures it out and Im always very pleased. More importantly, the wife likes it. He doesnt keep pressing me when I dont talk, so I really enjoy that too. Im here to get a cut, not tell you my life story and political views. He takes the hint and just cuts my hair.

I went to Ken for two years and was always pleased with the result. Ken likes to talk with you but if you let him know youve got somewhere you need to be, hell move things along and get you out while still delivering quality. All of the guys there are solid barbers; Curtis was the first person I had the very first time I went and I was still very pleased with his work.Definitely make an appointment: walk-ins are tough to get sometimes, especially in the evening hours when most of the guys are busy. It also just saves you the hassle.

Let me start off by saying I got a very nice haircut, and a really nice beard trim. My stylist paid attention to my requests, and gave me exactly what I wanted. so from a product standpoint, I really liked McGuinns.The negative side of my review is that I dont like the kind of music that was playing. Misogynistic gangster rap is not my cup of tea. Also, Im used to barber shops which are a little bit more talky. I enjoy conversation, and McGuinns felt very silent (other than the initial requests and the music I dont like). So from an ambience standpoint, it wasnt quite what I was looking for.So if what matters most to you is the quality of the haircut, this is a great place. If ambience fits in with your evaluation, then it depends entirely on your personal tastes.

Ive been taking my son to McGuinns for the last year or so (hes 2 1/2). Ken takes his time with him, makes sure my little guy is comfortable, and doesnt rush anything.When my son gets distracted and turns to look at whatever caught his attention, Ken just moves to the next area of his head and keeps on going. He doesnt get upset or stressed, which makes my son more relaxed and helps him enjoy the haircut.A lot of our friends kids go elsewhere and we hear about the screaming and fighting that happens at other corporate shops. But weve never had that issue with Ken or his team, and my son enjoys himself so much, he doesnt want to leave when hes done!

Youre also able to make an online reservation, which is probably recommended since I didnt see too many walk-ins. NOTE: They are cash only.This will probably be my new barbershop for the future.

Ken, Chris & Zack are fantastic barbers! They have a great, quaint little shop, however they are leaving Mt Washington (summer 2017) for a new, larger Squirrel Hill location.I love that you can make a reservation online. You can choose your service, pick a barber, pick a day & pick a time, all online. Its a wonderful feature.My only complaint, which is a very small one, is that sometimes the small shop gets too crowded & from time to time appointments run late. Taking 1 Star for that.Otherwise, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE, which maybe I shouldnt say because now wait times could get longer lol!But its the best barber shop on The Mountain!

His cuts are my gold standard for quality.Additionally, his Coronavirus preparations and precautions are extensive. The new experience is both comforting and comfortable despite the current challenges due to the pandemic. Ive been going to McGuinns since Kens shop was on Mt. Washington. I get a great cut every single time. There have been plenty of times when Ken or Chris worked me in even without having an appointment. These guys know how to treat their customers. Chill, laid back, and they deliver the best quality in the city. I even gave Ken the wrong change today and he handed it back. That shows you the type of business he runs and the type of person he is.

Move to Pittsburgh back in 2016 and found them up in Mt. Washington. Was a walk-in the very first time and the accomadated me as soon as they could. They recommended that I make an appointment the next time (highly recommended) but they accomadated as many as they can. Laid back atmosphere and everyone is so friendly and outgoing. Heard they were moving to Squirrel Hill and despite being out of the way, I wanted to stay loyal to Chris and his co-workers. The haircuts are amazing and always merit compliments and praise. Love giving these guys my business.

I have been going to Ken to get my wig split for a little over 2 years now. His new shop is the best barber shop I have ever been to. Great old school barber shop atmosphere, stylish cuts of the traditional and new school variety (I get a mohawk with straight razor shaved sides), very friendly, one hell of a straight razor master, and its just a plain fun experience. If you come here to get a cut and are not a repeat customer, then you must of went to the wrong shop. Ive also been impressed with the improvements in the past few months, like the new online appointment app, new merchandise and product, and Kens new partner in crime, I mean, partner in cutting Zack who is also a great barber and makes a great addition to the shop. My experience with Ken can be summed up by this: Im 34, my older sister is a hair dresser and I havent paid for a hair cut since I was 8, Ive been going to Ken for a little over 2 years now. That statement should tell you that Ken has a great shop and is an amazing barber!!

Scheduled an appointment for 4:30. Got there early to make sure I wasn’t going to waste their time if someone had an open seat. Waited an hour, while they continued to take walk ins before someone who scheduled an appointment (even after 4:30).

These guys are good! Atmosphere is great and personally Curtis does and amazing job. Will be going here as long as I’m in Pittsburgh.

First time going to this shop. If you are looking for a high end barbershop, this is not the place for you. But, if you are looking for a barbershop that knows what they are doing, this is it. They accepted walk in, but you will be waiting a while if you dont make an appointment on their website (which probably needs a bit of an update). The only thing I didnt not like was that once I sat on the chair, the barber decided to go have a cigarette. But, that didnt take away from getting a good haircut.

They tend to work by appointment, but are very kind to walk-ins. I waited no more than 10 minutes for my walk-in and they gave me probably the best cut Ive ever gotten. If youre looking for a shave, too, theyre your guys. All of them were super kind, knowledgeable, and welcoming. They hooked me up with some great product as well. I HIGHLY recommend hitting them up.
