I’ve had many haircuts in my life. I thought by now I knew what they were. The second I scheduled an appointment with House of Handsome, my perception was changed. Passing through the front door transported me to another time. Spacious, relaxing, retro, luxurious, opulent without appearing gaudy, and meticulously clean. Tremendous attention to detail is everywhere, all designed to help me enjoy the experience. I was immediately welcomed and introduced to the entire family of stylists, all of whom were smiling. I was not kept waiting a minute past my appointment time. The cut itself was incredible! Steam facial, hot towels, washing, waxing, straight razor trimming… they treat the whole head and not just the hair. It’s a very personal experience. The four chair salon area is comfortable and the stylists are engaging. It’s clear that the owner, Mike, has carefully chosen his associates, as they are a cohesive yet fluid unit all geared towards one goal; the customer. From the old jazz/swing music floating throughout the lavish decor to the scent of their sweet tobacco conditioner clinging to the leather chairs, every sense is given attention. I guess the ultimate question is whether i would visit House of Handsome again and the final answer is “absolutely no question”’. Once completed, I felt terrific and looked sharp. Prior to leaving, Michael offered a bourbon candy and I purchased some beard oil and a few bourbon tasting toothpicks. All in all my time at House of Handsome was a great experience that I highly recommend to treat yourself and feel like a Million dollars!

The first thing that hits you when you approach their location is the exterior -- it clearly stands out in a makes you curious kind of way. Enter, and youre transported to a 1920s style luxury hotel lobby -- each detail meticulously picked and placed -- capped off with Mike and his team waiting for you with a huge smile in dressed to the 9s waiting to kick off your luxurious haircut experience -- its a whole different vibe, and I was here for it. Even without that ambience, the service itself is worth it alone. From the oil infused steam towel, ear/nose wax removal, scalp massage, and detail facial hair trimming and lining -- youre going to get a lot you look different and a smile from your gf/friends (speaking from experience). Long story short, Ill be going back -- and encourage any guy looking to step up their grooming game for a solid value to check out House of Handsome!

Its difficult to find a barber these days who isnt just trying to rush clients in and out to maximize their hourly earnings. I dont blame them but its not ideal for the customer. I am the kind of guy that never realllllly knows what I want but Brittany was patient, professional, and meticulous. I am very much a one-and-done kind of patron at a lot of shops but I will be back here; in fact Ive never once scheduled a follow up cut in advance and did here. Definitely worth your time and money.

Went to see Michael for a beard service. Was amazing, they really have created a special experience. From the decor to the Frank Sinatra playing in the back ground the attention to atmosphere is unmatched. They are professional to the max explaining everything they do. They have their own line of products that are explained to you before using. The mini facial with steam towel and face scrub are a great touch, the ear and nose waxing, and eyebrow trim are all included in the price, which to some may seem steep but it isnt for everything you get and the experience you have. It’s all finished off with a delicious bourbon infused chocolate. If Sinatra, Bezos, or Musk we’re in town and needed squared away The House of Handsome is where they would go!

Moved to Pittsburgh a year ago and have been looking for a good place to get my hair and beard done ever since. This is it. I have a long, hefty beard and its been a struggle trying to find someone that can shape it properly, and I am more than pleased with the results. My hair looks fantastic as well. Lauren took care of me and she was extremely pleasant. She took the time to ask me what I wanted and made sure I was happy at every step. It was also nice being treated like a human being, rather than cattle being sheared like someone else here has mentioned. And although Michael did not cut my hair, I can certainly see why he has such a loyal clientele. He embodies the atmosphere the shop is meant to create, treating you like a gentleman. In addition to treating you well, they also use all of their own products throughout the service, including a sweet almond and peppermint beard oil, which you can purchase for very reasonable prices. I will be back, and I highly suggest you go here for your next cut/shave. I recommend Lauren, and try to schedule your appointment a week in advance if possible so you can get the times you want.

You might not know this but Mike also cuts women’s hair. I have been coming to Mike for a little over a year now and since my husband gets his haircut here I asked if he could cut mine after my hairstylist left. I have a short pixie cut and he does a great job. The atmosphere and shop are amazing. He is very detailed and strives to give you the best cut and experience. I highly recommend Lauren as well. They both work very well together.

I love this place. I’ve been impressed with it from the first second I walked in. It’s been exactly what I have been looking for! They treat me like a gentleman and they really appreciate my business. Every time I come in, I am greeted warmly with a handshake and my business is appreciated. They style and cut my hair, wax other hair, and really pay attention to small details. Again they treat you so well here! It’s the best 40 minutes. The music, the atomosphere, the service - this is the best men’s salon I’ve ever been to. You get what it means to be a gentleman.

As far back as I can remember, Ive always had the same hairstylist when I was a kid. And even when I enter into college, I would still go to my hairstyles. But as we change, so does the style of our hair. And for a long time, Ive been looking for a new place to cut my hair (even went to Cost Cutters a few times as well). Thats when I found (or at least my brother found) House of Handsome.House of Handsome is a small, which is nice, and it looks like you just walked back in time to a grand hotel to just get a simple shave and haircut (two bits). Its not just its looks, but the music you hear is old time Jazz/ rag time. It just puts you in that mood that you you have step back in time to get a good haircut.What makes House of Handsome makes me want to come back is two things: One, they know how to work with guys hairstyle. Im so used to having salons working on my hair that I dont know much about a manly haircut. And two, they are very personal. They actually talk to you while you in the chair. Im not much of a talker, Ill be honest there, but just the atmosphere of the place makes you want to talk, and the best part of it, they remember what you say from the last time.This the reason why I will continue to come back to this barbershop, because the people there are just so friendly and personable that you want to come back and talk to them.

Michael and Lauren are awesome people and make you feel welcome as soon as you walk through the door. There isnt a bad thing I can say about my experience at House of Handsome. Michael is an extremely talented and detail oriented barber. He provides excellent quality service every time you set foot in his spot. The shop is opulent and beautifully designed and decorated. I walked in and was greeted warmly. The ambiance is very inviting, and I was offered an espresso or Perrier to drink. Mike and his staff are very friendly and very capable. I used to get my hair cut at generic shops that took 20 minutes to buzz through my hair. I was introduced to Mike B about 2 years ago and after one cut, knew I would never make a move to another shop. Once I was able to see the time and care that Mike puts into each of his cuts, the difference was night and day. Came to House of Handsome the day before my wedding. Id always wanted to experience a straight razor shave & figured this would be the best time for it. Not only did I get an excellent shave, Michael got me looking my best & feeling incredibly relaxed. To top it off, I had my shoes shined & looking better than the day I bought them. You don’t know what you’re missing. I didn’t. My wife put a gift card in my hand and told me I’d be getting my hair cut here. I Googled. The prices were higher than what I was used to. If you were watching a movie about Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra searching for a barber, theyd end in a place like House of Handsome.Personally, I dreaded haircuts more then any other chore that I had to do for longer then I can remember. The whole process was always something last minute and squeezed into a day off when I couldnt push it off any longer. That changed the first time a friend walked me into the shop for a cut, something that I now look forward to.There isnt a fair way to really explain the shop in words because chances are you havent seen or experienced anything like it before, honestly its hard to believe its a barbershop the first time you walk through the doorway. Whats not hard to believe is how pleased youll be with the service, cut and experience. Anyone can put together an impressive storefront but what Michael supplies is a respect for both his craft and his clients thats second to none.I can not recommend the shop enough, but I can tell you to not wait until the last minute to get an appointment because you will likely miss out on the best haircut and shave of your life. If it wasn’t for House of Handsome, I would not have met the girl of my dreams. The hair cut provided was single handily the reason we hit it off and now happily married. We still joke about it today. I always look forward to the great service and experience, leaving with a smile.

Amazing place. You will be transported back in time to an experience our fathers and grandfathers got when they went for a haircut and shave. Cool interior even lockers if you want to store your favorite liquor.But the best and most important part is the haircut. Been there twice now and the two best haircuts I have ever had.

Heres a little shop with a lot of class. Fine decor, subtle music, relaxed lighting, and a courteous staff are the first thing you encounter when you walk in the door. This is a no nonsense shop where they treat you with respect and ask for the same respect in return. Never have I gotten the full attention and care they give their clients anywhere else in Pittsburgh. Mike is a stand up guy and helped us plan and manage all the haircuts for our wedding. He arranged all the times and handled all the details personally. Any first timer will be a regular by the end of their Appointment.

This was genuinely the best experience and haircut I’ve ever had. I was recommended to go there from four good friends, so it already had a great reputation, but I couldn’t imagine the experience. The location in Dormont is perfect, and the inside is the coolest, classiest decor for a barber shop. And then the haircut and shave started. I was a mess, and Michael B. took care of me and set me up for the future. I’m so excited to have found this place, and what a great addition to Pittsburgh, a place that will be here for a long time.
