I just came up here from Florida and was in need of a new barber. Ricky was recommended to me by a friend of mine, so I made an appointment and was extremely satisfied with the cut. The dude is a true professional, and you can tell he is passionate about what he does. The shop was very clean and had a really cool vibe as well. Best haircut Ive ever had

I have been coming here for a year or two, and I adore Dark Root. I am probably the most femme person Zack has to deal with on a regular basis, and he is always very kind and listens really well to my weird requests and also saved my butt after having to do quarantine hair cuts forr a while lol. Will always recommend!

Zack is literally the best barber in the area. The shop is a great atmosphere. The conversation is always good. Has ample parking right across the street if you for some reason couldn’t get street parking.

I went there because my usual barber is closed indefinitely due to covid, and they were referring all their customers to this place. I went to get a haircut for a wedding, and i told the guy cutting my hair that i just wanted a trim, and how i usually like my hair longer so i can slick it back. This dude cut my hair to HALF A CENTIMETER on my sides then when i asked to see it because of the breeze i havent felt since highschool, i panicked. I knew i couldnt just tell him to undo cutting it off, and im normally not confrontational so i said it was fine. Apparently he took that as me saying dont do anything else because he barely touched the top at all, leaving me with basically a mohawk. I had to go back after seeing myself in my cars mirror and having a panic attack, and all they did was try to even it out (barely). When i went back he was very rude and acted like I was being unreasonable by asking for him to even it out. Terrible customer service.TL;DR: i asked for a trim. They gave me a mohawk. Now i have to wear a hat to a wedding. Never going back here again.

Ricky has been my barber for a long time now. I had a really hard time finding someone in Pitt when I moved here 5 years ago. I trust him, he does a great job every time. He also does the best beard work. I highly recommend going to him. He really loves his craft and it shows in the work that he does.

Been going to Zach for several years now. His work never disappoints. Leave feeling extremely dapper. I will definitely be back for other services like a beard trim too. The atmosphere is great for the shop too. You can really tell the owners of the shop put their heart and soul into this venture.

It’s alright, you have to literally ask them to give you a fade line up. And the oh the amount of cuts I got was terrible. My $25 barber does a better job and get a $10 tip for his exceptional work

I went to Dark Root on a whim after noticing they opened nearby my house. I got an appointment within the same day with Zach. I am typically skeptical with new barbershops because they tend to stray away from cutting womens hair. I am also very particular with how my hair is cut - as well as my bangs being perfectly straight. Regardless of my skepticism, Zach did an incredible job. Both him and the other barber in the shop were extremely friendly and welcoming. I will be returning for my next haircut!

Went for the first time after seeing their business card at Onion Maiden. Got a basic haircut for $20 and it turned out great, especially considering I gave a really poor description of what I wanted. It is a cash only business. I will definitely go back.
