Tym was the rep who diagnosed the issue with our Mitsubishi brand heat pump AC/Heating units. They’d been installed by the company in 2018 by the previous owner. Another HVAC company wanted $2000 just to look at it. JA Sauer have a not to exceed $800 price to fix a leak in the line and to replace the coolant, so we’re glad we again have a working system for the 3rd floor. Thanks, Tym!!!

I called them looking for a rough estimate on either fixing a broken drain valve on my home heating pressure tank, or on replacing the tank if needed. These are parts fully external to the boiler itself. The person I spoke to said they were taking notes for the estimators, would forward it on, and I would hear back later that day to see if they could handle it over the phone, or would send an estimator out. I asked how much sending an estimator cost, and they said it was free. I did not hear back by mid-afternoon, so I figured Id call and check in. They told me I wouldnt hear back from the estimators until the morning. I understand people get busy, but after a short conversation with the very polite representative, I learned that these estimators who would be calling me back in the morning only provided estimates for full boiler replacements, not repairs. Repairs were done by a whole different set of people, and came with a fee for the person coming out (fees for that are normal, but given the free statement earlier, worth mentioning). So, this company had me sit around, with my heat off, waiting for a call back, and they planned to respond by suggesting that I replace my ENTIRE boiler to address a problem for what I reported to them as a broken valve/tank that arent even part of the boiler theyd be trying to replace, without even looking at it. Even if the representative did not know that the pressure tank is not part of the boiler, its ridiculous that they would go for a full boiler replacement rather than look into repairs, especially since I was specifically asking about repairs. If you are looking to repair your system, avoid this company. Thankfully its not too cold out now, or Id have lost some extremely valuable time with their attempt to sell me a new boiler I dont need. As it is, Im just a bit chilly for an extra day.

Tymothy Merry of JA Sauer arrived to find what caused a 2nd floor ceiling leak from the whole house a/c unit in the attic & very quickly determined it was a plugged drain line. He then unplugged & cleaned the line & installed a leak detector which would shut down the a/c upon detecting a high water level in the drain catch basin. He was very nice & explained everything & got the a/c working again. JA Sauer is very & helped with scheduling,

This location is awesome, great pricing, not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for, service, knowledge, a company that will stand behind there work, the install crew was awesome, kind, friendly, prompt, and professional. We had this company install a new HVAC system high efficiency, 16 sear unit, and two infinity wifi controls,, with zoning, new filter system, some duct work, with a 10 year parts and labor warranty. I choose J.A. Sauer because I know that they will still be there when you need them. I recommend this company to everyone.

JA Sauer did a wonderful job, installing high velocity central air in my big old house. They were professional, courteous and knowledgeable. Plus they are good people. On their lunch break they ran down the block and helped a old couple ( and got their cats) out of a house that was on fire. Cant say enough good things about them!

I reached out regarding an issue with my AC unit. I was happy that the company was very transparent and let me know that they were experiencing higher volume of requests so I would be placed on a waiting list. They allowed me to take a place on the waiting list while I explored other options (so that I wasnt left without AC for a long time during a hot part of the year). Although I wasnt able to use their service this time, I will definitely keep them in mind in the future for their professionalism and transparency.

I am a widowed mother of two boys, who also cares for an elderly mom, so I need my home to be safe and warm during the winter. The technicians at JA Sauer are always honest and helpful in explaining what is needed, and never try to “upsell” me on a more expensive, unnecessary product or service. Got a quote for a carrier AC unit from Mark. The overall attitude was very unprofessional as Mark did not provide details / clear answers on how installation would happen (on ground or on frame). Upon asking his response was, that I was asking too many questions and no one goes into such details on the installation. Secondly, Mark also mentioned that the company would not come out in Spring to do a full start even though it would be too cold in Nov. to start the unit. (All other vendors mentioned that they would come out in Spring to ensure that the unit was fully working). His response was that they would add the refringent and thats it. Not sure how they would handle warranty if this is the attitude. I finally went and got a Trane unit.

I had a problem with my furnace I called them the on Monday and the put me on the for schedule Tuesday they where on time the guy we had was very excellent he was here for about two hours he fix the problem and told us to that he keep the work order open for two weeks because the problem that I had was on going meaning the furnace work and and not work for hours so house would be cold I try toWork on it self I could not figure it out so it was time to get some in the price was not too bad 192.00 to get the furnace working again I hope I don’t have anyone problems with this furnace I found this company at the home and garden show in 2018 I had do a free furnace clean if I have a problem with the furnace again I know who we will be calling I’m in south hills area the person we had was very helpful if lots of questions he answered them when it’s time for a furnace I think I will get a estimate from the company

I recently moved into old house that didnt have any existing ductwork, on top of that its very tall and narrow with a finished attic, so there are plenty of reasons why getting AC installed wouldnt be easy. I did my research and reached out to ten of the top rated and recommended HVAC companies in and around Pittsburgh to get quotes and options. From the ten only seven responded to come do an estimate, out of the seven only five actually sent me a price, and of the five J.A. Sauer was the only one that offered a reasonable price for the work while also being professional and courteous enough for me to want to do business with.Mark and Jeff handled doing the estimate end of things, and were easy to work with as well as being extremely knowledgeable. Mark walked through the different systems they could use and how it would work in my house, and was able to put together different proposals to give a better idea of the cost aspect. In my case going with a ductless system was what made most sense financially (both the cost of the actual system as well as not having to do any finish work/carpentry/etc.) along with not having to sacrifice livable space in the basement or attic. Once that was settled Jeff was able to come out to do a final review to make sure all the components were as needed and any issues or changes could be addressed ahead of time.As for the actual install work, Denny and Charlie came out for a full week busting their butts in the summer heat to get our house comfortable. Again with it being a tall house, and having outside components with the ductless system, it wasnt an easy task for them. They did a good job maintaining a clean work environment inside my house, as well as doing their best to work around my wife working from home and my young kids running around as well. The whole time they kept me up to date with what was going on, and were honest and upfront about any issues that came up, which with an old house can be a common thing. Having AC installed can be somewhat of an invasive endeavor, cutting holes in walls and what not, but honestly both with the ductless system and how Denny and Charlie worked, it wasnt that bad. At the end of the week it was all cleaned up and our house was comfortable again.With general maintenance Im hoping the Mitsubishi system lasts a long time keeping us cool in the summer and providing a little heat in the winter. Ive been extremely pleased through this whole process, and happy I can remove the noisy old window units weve been using. Weve already got a few friends and acquaintances who are interested in checking out the new AC system, so well be sure to pass the J.A. Sauer recommendation down the line.

Our service is excellent and our systems run beautiful. We rarely have an emergency call. When it is time for new systems they are our first choice because of of their reputation. Our technician Dakota, was very thorough in his annual inspection of our Carrier heating system. He did all the visuals, checked for leaks, measured current draw on the blower motor, checked gas pressure on the valve body assembly and flushed out the condensate pump ....etc .He finished by replacing the furnace filter. Excellent job Dakota !!!

Third appointment was to be one of their better technicians. Told would be first think in morning. Heat went out on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. They committed to getting it back on that day. The technician (Dustin) was very competent, made a diagnosis and somehow found the part at 6pm. He went to pick it up and after making a few more emergency calls, came back at 10pm and worked for an hour until it was fixed. Thank you for great service!

Let me first say that the work provided was done as expected and the equipment is working well. After our furnace stopped working in January the repairman came in a timely manner and diagnosed the problem. The troubleshooting was well done and it was determined that our thermostat was not communicating with the furnace. We were given a temporary thermostat to make sure that was indeed the problem. A representative from JA Sauer called us after a set amount of time and it was determined we needed a new thermostat. We set up the appointment ( during covid19) to have the work completed.I felt the price (over $800) was high but agreed to purchase the product that was recommended. The repair person that came to do the work was not wearing a mask. He said he was not provided one by the company. This was disconcerting to me.

We were able to take advantage of a cancellation to have our seasonal A/C inspection done early. Walter did his usual complete and thorough job, explaining to me what he was doing at points. We are very satisfied with this service!

JA Sauer is a professionally run company who is dependable. They have employees who answer the phone, set up appointments and show up to do the work that is always done well. More businesses should follow their model. I cant tell you how many HVAC, plumbing companies make appointments and dont show up to do the work or who dont return phone calls.

Exceptional customer service. We had top of the line equipment recommended and installed and JA Sauer was the best price by far, and the comfort in our home is unsurpassed now. Subsequently their maintenance and service has a few snafus and frankly some bad luck, but they are steadfastly committed to customer service and made things right. We shopped around, you wont do better in terms of the larger, reputable local companies.

Let me share my experience. I call JA Sauer, explained what is wrong, and tell them exactly what will be needed to be replaced...part number included. The guy on the other end was very helpful. Tech shows up a couple of hours later, looks at my furnace and within 90 seconds says Well, there is nothing I can do for you. I can tell you your furnace is from 1997 and you should get a new one. A furnace lasts about 12-15 years. Ill schedule you an estimator to come out tomorrow. 5 minutes later he is out the door. Next morning, I call another company at 8:00am, told them the part that will be needed, and they arrive at 8:45 with the part I told them, and had it fixed within an hour. I call JA Sauer to cancel the estimator and the lady tells me to pay the $89 fee. I asked for what and explained exactly what the guy said. It didnt matter what went down. He showed up and thats all I get for $89. Beware, you pay a fee even if the guy spends 5 minutes in your home and does absolutely nothing. Cant blame a company for trying to make money but I would expect better from a company with a good reputation.

I woke up recently on a very cold morning and found that my furnace was not operating. I immediately called JA Sauer, reviewed my problem and asked for assistance. They promptly scheduled a service tech who quickly arrived. He was polite and technically savvy and within minutes identified the problem as a loose wire making poor contact with a terminal on my furnace. One push and it was reconnected and the furnace was back in operation. Because I had them do a preseason furnace check earlier in the year there was, surprisingly, no charge for this service call. I couldnt ask for more and this, to me, represents how a company should do business.

Our air conditioned went out on a hot Saturday night. We have exotic pets that are heat sensitive. They had a tech at our house within 30 min even at 2AM for emergency servicing . Our tech Tymothy Merry was amazing. He was professional and explained everything to me and showed me the problem. He had it fixed so fast and did so without even waking our neighbors. He probably saved my pets from the heat. Thank for the amazing service!

The furnace technician seemed knowledgeable and honest. This was the annual check-up of my hot water boiler furnace. The cost is $98 per year and includes discounts on parts and some reduced service charges. Its worthwhile so that I dont forget to do it,

Quick and knowledgeable service. Weve had our hot water boiler serviced by them both for routine maintenance and when weve had a problem. Other than one instance where they didnt refill the radiators fully after maintenance, their work has been very good.

Very pleased with our experience with J.A. Sauer. We contracted with them for routine residential maintenance (coming up on one year). Last winter they discovered a problem with our heating system and repaired it; the replacement paid for itself in savings on our gas bill within two months! I love that they prompt me for the seasonal service and I dont have to remember (or wait until theres a problem to remind me!). Ive never had to call them in an emergency, so I cant speak to how prompt that service would be, but the techs have all been very helpful and respectful of our home and we will happily continue to use them.

Willie was the most professional young man. He took the time to explain everything and answered any questions. J.A. Sauer trains their employees very well. Every time Ive had a service/maintenance call at my home or now my daughters the employees know what they are doing, and I always feel comfortable to ask questions or just watch them work.

Bill did our heating tune up. He was very friendly and did a wonderful job. He answered all the questions I had and was very neat and clean (even wore foot booties so he didnt dirty the carpet). The office staff was very good with a friendly reminder call the day before and a call in the morning to let me know he was on his way.

Justin Wilson from J.A. Sauer was at my house on a Sunday within an hour of the call. He had the issue figured out within 15 minutes, had the part replaced soon after, and was in and out with my furnace working again on a 20 degree day within about 45 minutes of being at my house.I felt really comfortable with the work he was doing as he explained everything he was doing very clearly. I felt he was very honest as well, which is a good feeling when dealing with something like this. Id recommend him.

Had two instances dealing with these guys and both were complete Home Runs. First one was with a gas boiler they installed in another house and they went above and beyond to honor the warranty for a new part and complete the repair in a timely fashion.Second time I called them to fix my gas furnace when it was 15 F outside. Not only was I called back in 15 minutes, A service man showed up in 45 minutes, troubleshot the problem, fixed it and was on his way in little over an hour. These guys are, like another ad says are THE GOOD GUYS..... give em a try, you WILL NOT be sorry!

Had a problem with our furnace that we had to get fixed as we were going on vacation. We knew after hours would cost more but we had to get it done. They were able to send out a tech that night and he got it back up and running. Tech was knowledgeable and very professional. I dont really know anything about HVAC systems so I had some questions and he was more than happy to answer them and show me what was going on and exactly what he was doing to try and fix the problem. I never had a service agreement before so I asked about it while the tech was there. Good thing it came up as we were able to save some money on the service and the after hours call. Thanks again!

If I could give zero stars, I would. Horrible experience. Called in July 1st because I had a leaking central AC unit. They said they were busy, but that someone might be able to make it out that day. If not that day, then likely the next day. No one came the day I called, nor did I hear anything on July 2nd. On July 3rd, I called back and a different person told me they wouldn’t be able to help me until the following week. I heard nothing back until July 12th, when I got a voicemail saying they still couldn’t help me and it would likely be another week. Needless to say, on July 3rd I called a different company to address my issues, Top Notch Heating and Cooling. Top Notch came out the same day I called, and took care of my issues. NEVER use JA Sauer!

Peace of mind is great. J.A.Sauer notifies me twice a year, time to check the furnace or check the air conditioning. I dont even have to try remembering its time. Their service staff are very knowledgeable, polite and friendly. They never try to push things that I dont need. If something is starting to wear out, they will let me know... next time we may need to change out, etc..... I would highly recommend J.A.Sauer, Co., and will never let my maintenance contract expire. Like I said, Peace of mind is great.

After dealing with the Home Warranty company being unresponsive, J.A. Sauer was one of the only companies able to make it out on a cold day to diagnose a furnace issue.Once I got a bogus estimate from the warrantys contractor, I called J.A. to do the work. They were friendly, gave consistent updates, did the work correctly and as quickly as possible. Definitely earned me as a long term customer, and Im happy with the repair.

We have had J.A. Sauer maintain our heating and air conditioning for nearly 20 years- 15 years at our old house and 3 at our new one. They have been nothing but prompt and professional. We recommended them to the people we sold our house to. We will continue to have an annual service contract with them.

They charged me $448 to replace an inducer assembly (20 minute job). This was just the labor cost thank god the part was under warranty.

We have used JA Sauer Heating and Air Conditioning ever since we have owned our current home, 26 years. They are always very prompt. Extremely neat, when the work is complete you do not even know they were there. When additional work is needed done they always review cost and review options. We have recommended them to many friends and family.

I had my furnace quit working in the evening right before leaving on a trip. I contacted the after hours number and they had a tech come out that evening which saved the day as we could not cancel our work trip. Although there was no immediate total fix it was repaired enough to be able to continue to have heat while we were gone... no small issue in PA in January! Upon our return JA Sauer sent Justin out to evaluate the situation determining it was definitely the thermostat. Once installed it had a fault code the next day which caused the heat to go off completely. Once again JA Sauer (and Justin) came through and returned to fix the bug. I had explained we have a 100 year old parent living with us so they responded as quickly as possible. Justin also re-tuned the furnace and the new settings have resulted in a much more comfortable heating environment. There are no guarantees with any equipment but I certainly feel J.A. Sauer will stand behind their work and service. They will address any problems or concerns to the best of their ability. I would certainly recommend this company as they strive for excellence and outstanding customer service.

I called to set up an appointment over 3 weeks ago to have both of my furnaces checked over heading into winter. They told me with a day or two. After 3 phone calls to them and 3 weeks still no one has showed. Unbelievable!

My husbands parents air conditioning quit working of course when it is really hot outside. JA Sauer and company was accommodating to be there in a timely manner. We are so thankful to Jack and his friendly and knowledgeable technicians and installers that did a great job getting the a/c working again and are not high priced but very kind to their customers. We are also customers along with many people where I work and have been very happy with JA Sauer Heating and Air Conditioning for all of our service.

From the person who prepared the estimate to the installation crew, every person I dealt with was thoroughly competent and professional. I had 3 companies give estimates for a new home furnace and AC, and J.A. Sauers bid was 40% lower for the same equipment than another company. The young man who prepared the bid also explained the tax credit possibilities and other ways to save. I also explained my issues with programmable thermostats and he helped me choose one that is perfect for my situation.The installation crew showed up on time, worked steadily, and left the basement as pristine as my basement gets. This is an excellent company to do business with.As for Carrier equipment, the units I ordered are still made in the U.S. The fact that multi-national corporations yank U.S. workers around is terrible; that was one reason I wanted to change out my system now, while Carrier is still a great product made in America. But the fact that manufacturers are greedy and profit-oriented in no way reflects on this local company, which did a great, great job for me.

Update: 8/27/2021 we were disappointed that our fairly new air conditioner developed a problem particularly given the great experience we had initially with Sauer. But I contacted the company and they completely took care of it. This company and its management team really stand behind their service and product. I couldnt have been more satisfied. Assign 5 more stars!Original review (2018) Our air conditioner stopped working during some extremely warm weather. A repair person came out, examined the unit and thoroughly explained the issues. He gave us a couple options to consider, but based on the age of the existing unit, we decided to replace the AC rather than try to fix it. The next day, another Sauer person came out to review the many and various AC options - size, BTUs, zoned, ductless, etc . - and the related pricing. He fully explained each and made no effort whatsoever to steer us to higher priced options. He just made sure our needs were met. The next day, another service person came to measure and map the work. He was in and out quickly. On the fourth day, two folks came to replace the unit. They were so clean and neat and quiet, we hardly knew they were in the house. Every bit of fallen insulation, packaging, plastic, drywall dust, etc. was cleared away. Throughout the entire process, all of the Sauer folks were polite, on-time (or called if running a little late), professional, knowledgeable and explained things clearly. Everything was well coordinated among all of them. I would definitely use them again.

My furnace stopped working the weekend before Thanksgiving - it was cold and getting colder. I called another company to fix the furnace, and after working on it for several hours, the furnace was declared Officially Dead. I wasnt surprised, but now I needed a new furnace, and I needed it rather quickly!I called three different places to get bids; they all responded, and came out to scope the situation (it was now the Tuesday before Thanksgiving) and submitted their bids - among them, J.A. Sauer. The most professional and most complete bid was submitted by J.A. Sauer, and I decided to go with them. I told J.A. Sauer I had chosen them, and they sent a guy out to do all the measurements, as the new furnace would be physically smaller, and the intake/outake pipes and the duct work surrounding the furnace would have to be replaced. They made all the measurements (on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving). The temperature inside and outside the house was dropping lower every day. I added more layers of clothes and slept under many blankets!I didnt expect them to install the furnace on Thanksgiving - but the day after Thanksgiving, when the rest of the country was watching football games and enjoying the long weekend, J.A. Sauer showed up and installed the new furnace, and the new thermostat. It took them just about all day, and they worked hard! They did a great job, the new furnace is great, and I could confidently give back the space heaters the neighbors had loaned me when they found out my furnace was broken a week before (The temperature inside the house had dropped to the mid-40s.) So yeah, J.A. Sauer doesnt deserve 5 stars, they deserve 10 stars! (We agreed that the air conditioner replacement could wait until Spring - so there is more to come with that!)

We were so impressed by the work done by the JASauer team, from initial quote to the install finishing touches! Our home was hit with flooding, leaving over four feet of water in the basement, and both the furnace and AC units totaled. JASauer was quick to respond to our estimate request, and sent out a very knowledgeable and friendly assessor. Of the quotes we received, JASauers was the only estimator who demonstrated thorough efforts to assure that we would have the correct size furnace & AC unit. After we were given a reasonably priced tier of options, we were happy to move forward with the order. On top of everything, JASauer hustled to schedule our install for the same week. Given our situation, this was a huge step forward in getting our home put back together after the flood, and a huge relief. Overall the team at JASauer is above and beyond professional and courteous, and we would be happy to work with them again anytime.

Our AC unit was no longer working and we saw JA Sauer on Angies List. They came and replaced the compressor. We continued to have problems with the unit and the next technician found broken service caps. They took ownership of them being broken from the first inspection of the unit and replaced them as well as filling the unit with refrigerant. Very honest company and easy to work with. I would highly recommend them.

We recently had mini-splits installed by Jeff and Drew at J.A. Sauer. These two installers were excellent. Having two small kids at home, while construction is happening is not always the easiest. Jeff and Drew did a great job, cautiously working around our children. They were clean, professional, and thoughtful. At every step of the way they thought out the best install route. The work was fantastic, Jeff and Drew were very professional, and the install turned out better than I could have imagined.I highly recommend J.A. Sauer for Mitsubishi Mini-Splits install.

Our furnace stopped working on a December night when the outside temperature was about 10 degrees. Shortly after my call to J.A. Sauer the tech arrived to diagnose the problem. A faulty thermostat was the problem and a temporary unit was installed. By the end of the day the house was warm. A new digital thermostat has been installed. We remain very satisfied with J.A. I used JA Sauer a while back for an emergency service call on my A/C after another company had disappointed me. The JA Sauer technician was so professional and identified a critical issue with the original installation that no service person had noticed in the 6 years Id been having problems! So, later, when I needed a new A/C, I called JA Sauer again to install an updated A/C unit and a return air duct and register.They sent Mark out to give me a quote and he spent half the afternoon trying to find a way to accommodate my needs exactly. He offered 3 options that were all within my budget, took care of a permitting and variance situation, and got me scheduled for install right away.Let me just say that these guys worked their asses off for me. Im on the 3rd floor of a condo building and they had to run up and down the steps maybe 100 times while installing the air vent. They went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and dealt kindly with the scheduling issues we encountered due to needing access to a separate condo unit for the install (thanks to Danielle who was essential in helping us rearrange the schedule last minute).I cant say enough good things about Anthony, Joe, and the rest of the team who did so, so much work. Im sure they could have done a good enough job and called it a day, but they stuck it out after hours to get it just right and did an exceptional job. We have used J.A. Sauer for a year now, and they are very nice when scheduling, and the technicians are very knowledgeable and patient.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Another year has gone by since the above review. Our air conditioner recently had problems during the 90 degree heat, and JA Sauer helped discover that a connecting wire in the circuit breaker had come loose. The scheduling, reminder calls, and technicians are all great. I highly recommend this company.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We got an email notifying us that there was a problem with our heat on a cold Friday midday. Within 2-3 hours, a technician was able to come diagnose and fix the problem. I continue to be happy with this company.

J. A. Sauer installed Mitsubishi Mini split AC in our home this spring. We do not have forced air in our 1928 home, so we needed to find a ductless system if we were to have AC at all. From our initial search for the right installer, to the installation and even for a follow up to correct a buzzing noise in the pump, we had an excellent experience working with this company. The employees were conscientious, polite and careful working in our home. Our installers Brandon and Anthony were very neat and wore booties when indoors. They worked on every floor in our home and I barely knew they were there. Their professionalism and willingness to explain the installation process put me at ease. We had put off getting AC installed for many years because of concern of having to go through a big project like this...I am so glad that we decided on Mark and J.A. Sauer team to do this job. Our new AC rocks! and p.s.: The outdoor unit is so whisper quiet we can barely tell when it is running!

A technician from another company had diagnosed a cracked drain pan and advised replacing the whole system. I called J.A.Sauer for a second opinion before I spent all that money. Sauers tech poured a lot of water into the drain pan which did not leak to the floor, making me wonder why the other tech did not try this simple diagnostic. And then Sauers tech found the leak to be coming from the pump, which the other tech dismissed with a cursory check. I appreciated that Sauers tech went so far to disprove the previous diagnosis despite his obvious disbelief that that could be the problem. He fixed the pump and took time to verify it was no longer leaking.
