Im giving them a 4 star right now, this will be my 3rd visit with German Auto and Tanner has looked out for me so.... I cant complain about the service there. My e90 is a lemon so any of the errors was definitely not the fault of mine or German Autos, the e90 is there for a complete engine swap so this should put a stop to future issues and its going to have a 2yr warranty. Im nervous about the final bill as Im not rich I had to lean on the help of Hardship funding through my job which took care of the deposit for the motor. But all in all German Auto is a great shop in my book, I recommend seeing Tanner but everybody there Ive met has been friendly!!!!
Good guys here. Tanner is very nice at the front and is honest. I’d probably do a 4 star but What he did for me was appreciative to be a 5. I took my gt3 in and it was there all day and at the end of the day Porsche dropped off the wrong parts so not their faults at all. The car had to stay over the weekend and it kinda bit into my Friday work. Anyways, I get there today car was ready and he threw in a free brake system flush which was awesome so it all worked out!
Last year German auto told me that my radiator flap was getting stuck open thats why my engine light was on. I had already took it to Audi dealership they said I had a aftermarket window and I need to get new window and calibration. Thats why the light was on. Because it was a audi dealership and I have a Q7 I got new window and calibration. They were wrong light was still on after spending 800 so this year I took Q7 back to German auto they replaced radiator flap and the light is off just like they said. I will not take my car anywhere else. They are honest, and very experienced with foreign cars. These guys are the best I have taken my car for oil changes and there prices are reasonable. I will only trust German auto with my car it drives like brand new and no lights on.Thanks German auto 😊😁
Oil change and lightbulb.Usually never have a problem. its our second time in, my wife drops off her car for an oil change and a light bulb. 200.00 bill!!!VW jetta! said he had to remove the front clip to change the bulb. really? without even leaving and fingerprints in the dirt!said he topped off all the fluids? apparently missed the washer flluid and antifreeze. Then tells her, she needs a new catalytic converter. more &$@@ Brand new one replaced 4 months ago. then wasnt even about to bring the car up until we paid. in the future I said, just give us a call if theres gonna be a little bit more than normal, or an issue arises. We dont mind paying a little more to get it fixed. But if I wanted to be lied to, and cheated I would have stayed with my ex-wife.
German Auto phoenix az is definitely a hidden auto oais in the desert, house full of Auto Masters, by far amazing team of horsepower, professionals they made me feel like number one priority, with my vehicle .They are the best honest team .#1 in my car manual,
I would highly recommend German Auto Service for any of your German car needs. I had a very difficult electrical issue that had both myself and the shop confused. Needless to say Tanner and his team went the extra mile to get the issues resolved and fixed in a timely manor. So if youre wondering if you should use this shop, I would say with 100% certainty, that yes you should use German Auto Service. Their work is top notch and the customer service is second to none. Thanks Tanner, and German Auto Service! I will be coming back for any future work on my German vehicles!
My experience with German Auto Service and Sales was awesome!!! From the very start of my conversations with Tanner, he made us feel like we were valued customers. They were put under stress when our original mechanic could not perform the needed repairs on my daughters 2011 328i BMW. After they made several calls around the Phoenix area and with good references, they picked German Auto to take the car to. German Auto picked up my daughters car (which was about 20 miles away from their location) and started looking at the repairs the same day. Every step of the process Tanner was in communication with me letting us know what was going on and what was required to do the repairs. Although the estimate to repair the car was higher than my original mechanics estimate, Tanner explained in great detail why the extra cost. I was so impressed by his knowledge and this service, I added additional services to the vehicles repair list. I was never pressured to do any other repairs to the vehicle but was informed that they will be needed at some point down the road. This situation could have ended badly but it was not the case. After we picked up the car and driving home, I told my daughter she has found a great place to use for repairs on her car!!! I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND German Auto for your next car repair company!!! Thank you for turning this experience into a positive one for us!! You have gained a new customer for as long as my daughter owns her BMW and all future vehicles.
I took my Audi here because my check engine light was on and the service dept was very knowledgeable and so nice, courteous. They explained everything re my repair. It was also less expensive than what I was quoted at another repair shop. I will bring my car here for all future repairs! Thanks so much!
Always get great service here. Been going since 2015.
Tanner was very knowlegable and helpful in regards to my situation. Thank you!
Tanner was friendly, professional and attentive to my needs. The service was great and didnt feel like I was overcharged.
Excellent customer service and amazing mechanics. I brought my 2004 VW Passat TDI to German for a new engine after a engine swap abortion was done at Pepboys. After receiving my engine from the supplier they tested it and started installation in a timely manner. As expected the car ran perfectly after I picked it up and even better than it did before it took a dive on us. As for pricing; even with some discrepancies caused by a quote made by a former employee, the shop honored the original quote and kept the costs within my budget. My entire experience with this shop was excellent and I would choose them again for my next major project. As an Army Veteran I tend to be very picky and overly sensitive to dipshittery and attention to detail. And; in all honesty this is the first private import shop I have used where the customer service people werent full of themselves and pretentious as all hell... and in Phoenix thats saying a lot considering I have been to VW shops literally from coast to coast. If you are in the market for a fair honest shop to get your car back on the road, look no further, this is the shop.
I brought my Audi in because there was an issue with the oil. The car kept running out of oil and they told me that there was an oil leak. They also said something was wrong with the tires. I paid over $3000 to get both of them fix. After getting my car back for a week the oil light came back on again. I took it back to the shop and they told me the sensor was bad. I paid $600 for that and the light for the tires was still on. I got the car back and after awhile the oil light came back on again. I took it back to them and they told me that I have a bad engine and that the engine was consuming a lot of oil. They also said to take my car elsewhere to get the tire fix. Like what the heck. After spending so much money they told me to get rid of the car. I was annoyed at this point. I lost so much money just for them to tell me to get rid of my car. I do not recommend anyone to go to this shop. They dont seem to know what theyre doing.
The people that work here r great.
Fantastic family owned business. Honest, knowledgeable staff that really have mastered European cars, pricing and customer service!
I used to go to another mechanic on McDowell. They were good, but not as good as German Auto Service. The difference is the degree of professionalism and responsiveness that youll find at German Auto Service. This place is honest and fair. I used to pay $160 for an oil change. But at German Auto Service it is only $110. I look forward to giving them more of my business.
My husband took his Volkswagen to get fixed as it kept over heating. Apparently this fixed 3 things but after paying $1,400 and getting the car back it was overheating even faster. We went in to resolve this and they said while working on the car something else went wrong but they were not going to fix it without us paying another $300. We left after they threatened to call the cops. We tried to reach the owner multiple times but he was never in or returned calls. I usually do not complain but losing $1,400 during these times is rough. This is not a business I would recommend to anyone.
I wanted to believe this was a good shop. I took my car in to get looked at for misfiring and engine shaking. I was told the car would be looked at and ill hear back by noon, yet I was not notified and they kept my car overnight. So I call first thing in the am, and they apologize while telling me what was wrong with my car. He proceeds to tell me a bad coil along with suggesting new spark plugs (Red Flag). I say sir you guys just replaced my spark plugs just a few months ago. He fumbles and suddenly remembers, which made me question if they have even changed them in the first place. I hang the phone up after telling him ill be there to pickup the vehicle, yet I have a change of heart and call back asking them to replace the coil. 3pm rolls around, with no call so I call to see if everything is ready as they tell me yes its ready for pickup.Pulled up ready to pay and the gentlemen tells me that the part was replaced and cost was taken care of by John in which was on a call at the time. I thanked them and expressed appreciation as I proceeded to leave.Once in my car I turn on the engine, and yet the same problem still exists. Not wanting to go back inside, but I had to to get to the bottom of whats going on.John tells me noone relayed the message to him after we spoke earlier and I called back. So now theyve had my car for 2 days and no work was done, im getting a bit frustrated now. I kept my cool as he asked me to keep it for another day and wanting to charge me after the mistakes that theyve made. Im not sure if this shop is trustworthy and are unorganized. As he walks to the back with my key not to return I ask one of the guys to go get my key and I left. As a good customer I felt I was getting the run around and unsure of there service. I will not be returning and I suggest you be weary of there service which was very unacceptable and unprofessional.
Were prompt and efficient with my car. Much better priced than the dealer.
Excellent customer service. These guys really know German cars and they take very good care of them. Highly recommended.
Great experience initially took my Porsche elsewhere arrowhead Imports who I would never recommend. Clueless on how to work on a Porsche. No Porsche diagnostic equipment.
These folks were great, they did everything it took to make sure my repairs to my S430 were completed and within my current budget. I will be going back for additional services needed!
I have been servicing my vehicles at German Auto for over 5 years, and I would never go anywhere else. Jim and Brian work great together as a team and I am pretty sure they can fix anything.
The team here is knowledgeable, thorough, and the service given to my auto was affordable.
Amazing staff from management to technicians, everyone knew what they were doing. From lively and friendly receptionists to great service team headed by Richard and Tony that went above and beyond for customers. Jim is is probably the smartest techs I know. Every serviced make/model is covered by their knowledgeable techs. I cant remember a time when we didnt resolve an issue. I highly recommend anyone to go here. Fast, friendly, and knowledgeable. A+ in my book.
I went down there 3 weeks ago to get my audi a6 fixed for break malfunction... tanner said he was going to order it for me.. I called every day for two weeks straight.. we are going to have him call u back.. this is what they tell me.. everytime I call.. hes on break... will have him call u back... SMH... I CANNOT GET NOTHING DONE WITH THESE GUYS.. I GUESS MY MONEY NOT GOOD ENOUGH.. OH WELL.. TRASH SERVICE CUSTOMER SERVICE..
I took my Porsche 911 in to have the oil changed and a light bulb replaced. Although the oil change was fine, the service guy never wrote down the light bulb that needed to be replaced and when I got my vehicle back the light was not replaced. When I told him it wasnt fixed, he told me they replaced a different light (that wasnt out when I brought the car in). I asked if they would still fix the light that was out and they said it would take a long while because they needed to remove the front bumper to get the light that was out. I indicated that I saw videos that showed the light could be removed by simply disengaging the front light compartment sliding a credit card through the grove. The service guy continued to tell me the front end needed to be removed. I explained my disappointment and that I didnt have additional time to leave the car (I had already been there for 2 hours) and left. When I got home I looked the procedure of how to replace on youtube. I went and got the light from AutoZone and replaced it by myself in about 15 minutes. Whats amazing to me is that the service guy works at German Auto Service company, yet I had to tell him how the front light was to be replaced. Needless to say, I lost all confidence in them and will never return.
Very knowledgeable, courteous and professional. My VW has been running smoothly after many mechanics have tried to “fix” the problem.Extremely satisfied with reliable service and help.
I wish I didnt own my German car because I would have never found this place and given them my hard earned money. For a Phoenix business they really do think highly of themselves. Ive been to Germany and they would be embarrassed that Americans have this business as an option. Keep driving. A better run business lies ahead with more of a heart.
***AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS***Their reps John, Tanner and the shop owner will lie to you, not call you back, increase the scope of work, and will not repair your vehicle! Report these scam artists to the Federal Trade Commission. I hope that this review puts them out of business! DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE!
Professional, timely and priced right. Im very confident in their work. Added Plus, they gave me a ride home and picked me up when my car was finished. So nice!! I highly recommend German Auto.
Best Bavarian Autohaus in PHX!!! Hands down!!!
The ugly red and black patched up Mazda Miata keeps making illegal left turns to go this establishment. Stoping traffic and potentially causing an accident. Owner does not care about the safety and rather put the blame on others.
I have been going to German Auto Repair for more than 20 years. They provide excellent service and cheaper than any other service providers we have inquired. Over the years I have bought few different models of Mercedes from different dealers but have always gone to German Auto Service for any services. I have never been disappointed. I live approximately 25 miles away but prefer to drive to German Auto for service due to their friendly and excellent service. I expect to continue to have same relationship in future.
I have 3 BMWs and I trust German Auto to always provide great service at a reasonable price. Nice to be able to get a ride to work after I drop the car off and a ride back to pick up. Cars are washed and ready to go when I pick up. Excellent service experiences and they literally saved me over $1000 by diagnosing a complicated X5 Diesel CEL issue. Highly recommend.
Took my 2001 BMW 330i in to get inspected as i recently relocated to the desert and wanted to make sure my old car was going to work well in this area. asked to have the car checked over and to notify me of any repairs needed. everything they told me seemed to be pretty on par with what i knew to be wrong, and their prices seemed reasonable, based on past experiences. they even have a driver service to take you to a rental car agency, which was really nice. very nice people. going back to get some of those repairs tackled.
Ive been to German Auto several times for A and B services for my Mercedes. I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail demonstrated by their technicians. At the end of the service they provided me with a list of issues they saw and a few items that would need service soon. Some of the issues I already knew about, and some of these had been looked over by other shops.I also appreciate their flexibility. I like to do what I can under the hood, and I appreciate being able to take my car to professionals when Im not comfortable with the job. Theyve never had a problem with me requesting an a la carte service.Lastly, I am impressed by the extra touches. I once had a badge on the gear selector come loose when the glue failed. Without asking, they fixed it for free, and when I asked about it, the technician said, I would want somebody to do it for my car.I applaud German Auto for that level of customer care. Well done.
Friendly staff makes you feel comfortable. And they were happy to explain everything my car needed. Best of all they had my car fixed the same day and it was even a little under the estimated cost! Thanks so much you guys rock!
The best service for my Benzs and my BMWs. Theyre great, all the staff. Always friendly and very knowledgeable. They always get the job done right, for much less than the dealerships. I have recommended a number of family, co-workers and friends to them. They all tell me thank you, thank you, thank you - for referring me. Try them out. You wont be disappointed.
I have been taking my older BMW to German Auto for over 15 years and have always had a great experience. Jim knows my car inside and out and always provides excellent insight. I feel as though he loves my car as much as I do!
Sure, you take it in to get fixed and they fix it. Thats what you pay them for. The real review that is helpful is what the company will do for you when there is a problem. Mistakes happen, but when they dont fix them, thats when I have problems ever recommending any company again. Brought car in to get fixed. When we came in to pick it up, there was a huge noticeable tear in the convertible top that was not there when we dropped it off. Finally, phone call after phone call they offered to cover 1/2 the cost of a new top. Wow, someone there ripped it and we get to pay half. After years of being a good customer, they lost my business and my respect. We will be posting this on BBB next. We were fair for years, bringing our Mercedes in for repair, sometimes it didnt get done properly but we still paid you. Now the one time we needed you to step up, your didnt.
Ive been a customer for over three years, having had regular service, as well as several major repairs. Ive never had to return because something wasnt completely repaired. Great customer service! They work fast and with great prices. Highly recommended.
Great customer service, decent prices and reliable outcomes. I bring my 01 MB E320 in for regularly scheduled maintenance and they keep it running smooth safe and efficiently for a lot less than the dealerships and most other mechanics. I get a ride to and from the service appointments, and my car gets cleaned well too. I do recommend German Auto!
They told me a B1 service on my 2012 Mercedes would run from $900-$950. The price should be set. Not a guessing game. Its not a major repair we are talking about here. Its basic maintenance oil change, filters, fluids, etc. Dealership quoted me $743. Thanks but no thanks.
I recently bought a new VW at German Auto Service & Sales and had the good fortune to have Sierra Smith as my salesperson. She is very knowledgeable about the car and was patient in explaining how to get the most out of its amazing array of features. She was proactive, followed up and provided great service. Thanks, Sierra!
I have a 1979 450SL that I have been taking to German Auto for 10 years now. Eric has been there since my first visit, and always remembers me and my car even though I usually only bring it in once a year for routine maintenance and check ups. Maintaining an older car can be pricey, but the reasonable estimates and the honest service are what keep me coming back. Plus, the courtesy transportation for independent garage is very convenient. I only wish they had Saturday service hours.
This place is great! They were quick to diagnose my car and there was no pressure to have it fixed. The customer service was exceptional and the prices were very reasonable.
I always received the best customer service, and auto work. They provide honest auto recommendation without pressure.
After years of dealing only with Mercedes dealerships, I decided to give these guys a chance and they have not disappointed.I find it easy to make an appointment and the work is always completed in a timely manner.Eric is one of the most accommodating service advisors Ive encountered in 25 years of car ownership!Thank you German Auto Service!
German Auto is the best alterative for your local dealership. The work is outstanding and cost unbeatable. Eric and the service department have been outstanding with getting my wife’s ML in when we need to get it fixed. I will not take my car any other place. You will not be disappointed.
Very happy with this company. They are about 1/3rd of the price of a regular Mercedes Dealership, and take the time to make sure that items are properly fixed and tested. They are particularly good with older Mercs that most of the regular dealerships really dont want to deal with.
Great service and much better rates than you get at the dealer. The team is eager to help and worked hard to get my Z4 back on the road. I would highly recommend.
Worst service and experience. After promising to install high performance parts that I had brought for a timing belt service, they did not install the high performance blue Gates Racing timing belt or other parts I gave them but swapped my parts with an inferior product I never authorized them to use. Whether it was ineptitude or lack of skill I am not sure, but I do know that you shouldnt be promising one thing and doing another. The inferior timing belt that was installed has broken less than the service time interval that is recommended for timing belts. Gates blue Racing timing belts do not lose their color and are more superior in quality to other timing belts. The timing belt that now sits broken in my cars engine is not blue nor is it a Gates timing belt. The valves in my engine have bent and now I am faced with having to install a new engine in my vehicle. The quality and integrity I expected from German Auto Service and Sales has been for the most part non-existent. If you are thinking of having your vehicle serviced by German Auto Service and Sales please double check any work or service you may have them perform on your vehicle! I, myself will never be returning to German Auto Service and Sales.
It is seriously a joy coming here!!! Everyones personalities are contagious! From the staff all the way to the customers. The pricing is so good that Im almost a little but excited to pay them lol (especially after being quoted from dealerships for 4x more). Lastly, there work is so trustworthy that I would even put my own name in it. Definitely come here!!
Great service and in a reasonable time. They fixed something else that I didnt bring the car in for which fixed two things that the dealership couldnt fix! Ten thumbs up!!!
German Auto has repeatedly done excellent work on my Mercedes and my Volkswagen. They have always been straight-forward with me, which I appreciate, and the work is always done right the first time. I live 15 miles from German Auto, and still make it the only place I will service my two cars.
Great service and staff. Next-day appointments. Very knowledgeable and always willing to give me a ride home.
I have taken multiple vehicles to German Auto for service. They have always done only the work needed at a cost well below dealer prices. My cars are returned on time and always clean (cleaner than when I took them in). I recently took my BMW in for a part that had to be ordered. I couldnt leave the car to wait for the part. To my surprise, when I went to pick up my car (nothing was done yet), it was beautifully detailed - no extra charge - just a courtesy that you wont find at most shops. If you have never used them - you should try - you wont be disappointed. Bernie who can provide transport is another asset to the team!
So, I took my car in after one initial service for oil change. I wanted to have the passenger a/c vent replaced. While replacing the vent, the service tech broke the wood trim underneath the vent. The service advisor called and left a voicemail stating the car was done. I called to confirm and surprise! This is when I was informed of the broken trim. Glad I called first. After realizing they cannot match the trim (and my car sitting with them for 3 days) they finally call and say the car is compete. I go to pickup the car and my heart sank. The replacement trim doesnt match whats in the vehicle. So now I have a car that has mis-matched wood trim and I all wanted was the vent replaced? I ask Eric if he could replace the entire trim since it does not match. He stated that after a year or so the wood would start to match, refusing to replace the damage done to my car by their work. Eris seemed angry and impatient with me. I asked him how he would feel if it were his car. He then stormed into the office leaving me outside. I left. Now, my only recourse is to retain an attorney and begin the arduous process of a law suit. Dont use this place, dishonest and unscrupulous are the words that come to mind when I think of them.
Customer service and service time is absolutely above and beyond
Great friendly service, will definitely be recommending this place for the great customer service. Thanks Tanner!
A scary event!...after spending almost a grand $ on service charge; picked upthe car to drive home; drove for a few miles, then found the entire car is covered with smoke from the hood and smell like something is burning inside the hood.SCARY !!! eventually called the shop and have the car tow back for re-check.Guess what ? they said the technician left a shop towel near the exhaust pipethat is why caught fire. You tell me, should I use or recommend their service ???
Ive been coming here for years and they truly have my trust I would recommend them to anyone with a German vehicle
I learned several years ago to stop going to Chapman BWM and use German Auto Service. This place is fantastic and has saved me a great deal of $$$ and aggravation. Their service techs take the time to go over everything with you and have always been able to answer all of my questions.
I had a not good experience, I walked there because I had car not running, I open door 2 men sitting, ( that never got off chairs like could not be bothered to help me ),I explained ( knowing this was expensive fix) blown head gasket, person who would get amount to fix was gone for day ! So took my number and would call tomorrow. Never asked my name ! So in 2 days I call them !! Said labor alone was $3000. And I said is that the total (cause I asked how much to Fix my car ) NO, WELL Whats total, we havent figured that out yet, !They must be doing very well cause I would have thought that $3000 alone in labor someone would jump at it! Its well over a week still no call back with cost to fix car ! Would NEVER recommend ! Very Cold!
Chuck and his staff know their stuff. They are also cost-sensitive in their approach, and everyone there is personable and responsive. I highly recommend German Auto.
TLDR; This shop is a scam... You CAN NOT trust the reviews. They give future discounts if you show that you have given a 5 star review.I brought my VW Jetta into the shop for a water leak (severe). I typically handle all of my own repairs however due to work issues I simply didnt have the time to do it. After having my vehicle in the shop for a day and a half, I had to call the shop to figure out what they were going to want to charge me, they didnt call me.. Small detail, I know. Anyway, I was not prepared for what they came back with, they quoted approximately $3000. I was advised that I had multiple issues. Here is the list. Radiator replacement ($670); Aux Water Pump ($534); Coolant Tank ($160); Vacuum Pump ($200); Belt Kit ($310); and finally Timing Belt ($1000). Being a normal middle class family, I dont have that kind of money just laying around. I told them that the maximum that I could spend was $1000. Knowing that combined with the list of items above what do you think they came back with as their top recommended item that should be done ASAP? Having been bitten by timing issues on other vehicles, so I relented and approved the work for the timing belt replacement. I was told that it would take 8 - 10 hours of work, so basically two business days. Towards the end of the second day I still hadn’t received a call from the shop notifying me it was completed. Again, I had to call the shop. When they could tell that I was annoyed they told me that the service manager had gone home sick for the day, thus why I had not received a call, but the vehicle had been completed for most of the day but it was now too late to pick it up because they were closing soon. Upon picking the vehicle up the following day, I was already annoyed that on the receipt I was charged for antifreeze. Even though my vehicle would not hold water at this point. But not wanting to cause a confrontation, I said nothing. Anyway driving it home (9½ miles) it died twice. At this point I didn’t know if it was due to the water issue that I couldn’t afford to fix at the moment or something else. The water issue was going to need to wait until I got paid again in two weeks. The following week (while my vehicle was sitting not being used) I began to look at prices for parts and level of effort to replace those parts and from what I was seeing the math wasn’t adding up. The main water issue was the aux water pump, on the low side the part is $40 to the high side (genuine VW parts) is $200. To replace this part it is literally 15 minutes and consisted of two hose clamps and two bolts that hold the assembly. Needless to say I did it myself. It doesn’t stop there, oh how I wish it did. I was also told that the coolant tank was “cracked and leaking all over”. I took the tank completely out cleaned it and didn’t find a single crack. What I did find was a small defect in the cap that wasn’t completely sealing when closed. To replace this it was $8. After fixing all of the major water issues I started the vehicle which would run for 10 mins then start to idle very rough then finally die. Nothing that I did would correct this. Finally I called the shop and told them that I had an issue and they needed to fix it. I was then put on hold for 35 minutes before I hung up. Surprisingly, the shop did call me back soon after. I was then told that I needed to have the vehicle towed down to the shop and if it was something that they had messed up they would pay for it otherwise I would need to pay for it and the tow bill. Reluctantly I agreed, but thankfully they had a tow company that they worked with. Once again I had to call the shop because they didn’t call me. What they told me was astounding. Aside from having to charge my battery which they said was now bad, they did nothing to correct the issue and that it must have been jolted when being towed and somehow fixed itself. Yes you read that right. FIXED ITSELF. The vehicle was obviously fixed… I ended up having to pay the tow bill which was another $100+.
So, I took my car in for repair and asked German Auto to run diagnostics to see what problems it might have. Diagnostic was $99 and they said it would be deducted from the cost. They called me back to tell me it all looked good, except for a problem with the sensor. it costs me over $1,100 to replace the sensor. When I picked it up the the next day, still had the same problem, car wasnt shifting into gear. I wasnt able to bring it in right away, as I had to travel for work, but they said it wouldnt be a problem.Well, when I drove it again, it over heated and left me and my one year old stranded off the freeway, in midday AZ heat!!! Had to pay another $260 to get it towed, cab fare, $200 for rental on top of the other $200 I paid the time before to get it fixed. Im a single mom, with a new job,so every little penny counts at the moment. I had read the reviews and thought they seemed honest. When I took it back they ran diagnostics AGAIN and hit me up with a whole new list of problems Radiator blew, need a new ignition switch and some other problem that I mentioned before, but they said not to worry about it. Well, funny they didnt notice anyone of these things before, except they said my car might not be shifting, due to they ignition switch. Maybe my raidiator woudlnt have blown, had they done their job properly. Told them my car wasnt always starting and they still didnt bother to check the battery. Im very disappointed and just want my money back, as II feel like Ive already spent way too much money on a place, thats caused me nothing but grief, so disappointed, I just want to cry and not sure where to go now. If anyone has any recommendations, please forward them as I really need to get my car fixed.
Frustrated with the service I recieved. I tried to fix a common problem with my Mercedes did my research and brought the vehicle to them with specific instructions to address. Even printed out the Mercedes Benz TSB service bulletin on the steps to address. After 2 hours of time the service manager still didnt listen to my specific request nor instructed the mechanic to do the job i requested.. The mechanic had his own thoughts of action to fix the problem. Communication breakdown at every level. The ONLY person who listened was the receptionist when paying the bill. She heard me talking to my girlfriend about how frustrated I was at my first experience with them. SHE LISTENED and said let me have Jim our manager call you, which Jim made ONLY ONE attempt to call me 2 hours later I was on the other line, didnt leave a message nor follow up with me. I will not return to them and feel like I spent $250 to have them tell me the problem I already knew in had. Dont go to them if you want something done they way YOU WANT It done.
When I bought my mercedes I was concerned about the maintenance costs. In reality, and thanks in no small part to German Auto Service, it hasnt been that bad. Overall I have less repairs than I had with other cars. I credit German Auto with being scrupulously honest with me on what does and does not need to be done to the vehicle. There is no doubt that past vehicles have had unnecessary work done elsewhere. I am extremely pleased with the work and the pricing at German Auto.
Booked a oil change on a Friday for following Tuesday morning because that was first appointment they had open. I was told be there at 8am on Tuesday morning and they would get me in and out since I was going to wait. Arrived at 7:55am and guy I booked appointment with was no where to be seen.Guy behind counter asked if I was going to wait. I said yes thats why I am here so early. He tells me it will be 2 hours to do a oil change because they dont have a lube bay and his techs have to look over entire car.2 hours is not in and out. I told guy at counter thats a ridiculous amount of time for a oil change and walked out.I was not offered a ride back home nevermind the fact I had other things planned for the day at 9:30am.I had scheduled my day and planned on being there for 30 minutes to an hour which is actually more than enough time to drain oil, change oil filter and top off fluids.I did not expect a 15 minute oil change. But not telling a customer when they book the appointment a simple oil change will take 2 hours is ridiculous. Thats not a common time for an oil change thats an extremely long time to do one. Also 2 hours is not IN AND OUT.When I arrived all the bays were full.It actually sounded and looked more like they found other work to do and bumped me to back of the line. Instead of having a bay open to get me in and out.But if it takes 2 hours to do a 15 minute oil change I wonder what other repair time frames are? Tune-Up 1 week lol Coolant Flush 5 days lolSeriously 2 hours for a oil change when you booked the appointment 4 days ahead of time and was told be there at 8am and they would get you in and out is simply ridiculous. They should mention that when you book the appointment so clients can plan their day.Been getting oil changes done on cars and never even before the days of Jiffy Lube have I ever had a oil change take over a hour.Like I said it looked more like they overbooked and bumped me.Thats only way I can figure how we went from WELL GET YOU IN AND OUT to IT WILL BE 2 HOURS thats not in and out.If you have all the time in the world and nothing planned for the day this place will probably work for you.If your like most humans and expect things to be done in a timely manner when you book in advance and dont have 2 hours for something that at max should take 1 hour. I would find another shop like I have to do now. They should tell customers they take 2 to 4 times as long as anyone else to do a simple service so customers can plan their day accordingly. 2 hours is not IN AND OUT.2 hours is YOU NEED TO PLAN ON LEAVING IT HERE FOR AWHILE AND NOT PLAN ON WAITING.End result is they lost money and now I have to find another shop to do work that as I type should be almost done 45 minutes later.Question anything they tell you.
Richard Mechanic told me they cant work on my salvage m3 over the phone. Didnt even ask what was wrong with the car. Just shut me down completely.
Always my go to Mercedes repair ...I have a 1994 Cabriolet, and they keep me going. Respectful and courteous .
German Auto are really great people, honest and reliable service mechanics in Phoenix. Ive worked with dozens of local mechanics with owning all german cars for 15+ years- Ive finally found my shop and would recommend them without hesitation!
Phenomenal customer service! Took my 2010 VW CC in and had nothing but great service. I also spoke with several of there longer term clients and they all had nothing but positive to say.
Excellent service without an appointment. My Audi was ready when they said it would be and the bill came back under the original estimate. Thanks!
Great service every time. Friendly and great staff. Work is always complete
They do really good work and stand behind it. Awesome customer service as well.
I took my 2005 Mercedes C230 in for service and they were great; better than any dealership Ive ever been to.
I would recomend german auto service to anyone who wants great customer service! They were very competitive in there pricing beating all other service shops in the Phoenix area. I will be bring my car here from now on. They have my business for life!
Great service! Saved a ton by avoiding the MB dealership. GA did only the necessary service. I will be back!
Went in for an oil change, They took care of my car, didnt try to sell me anything, and were very friendly, curious and prompt. Professional service, Ill go back again!
Convenient central location for Mercedes repair. Knowledgeable technicians and advisers with OEM parts and service.
Great and honest service which easily beat dealer prices.
I recently bought a MB 1984 380 SL. It was my first MB and wanted to make sure I went to a honest and reputubale place. I heard from many of my friends that German Auto Body was excellent. I went there to assist me with my car and I was very impressed. Besides helping me pass emissions and fixing my problem. They personally took my car to the emissions outlet to confirm it would pass. They also provided transportion back and forth to my work and to my home. I would refer them to anyone who wants honest and ethical service for their Mercedes. Jeremy S, Phoenix, AZ
Overall a great alternative to the high dealer prices. Ive been pleased with their knowledge and service.
I have been taking my Audis to German Auto for years and have always recived great service that I can trust.
Brought in my old VW Jetta Wagon TDI years ago and they treated me great. Knowledgable staff, and quick turn around. Im about to bring in my 1988 BMW 325i (E30) to start getting to work on her, and am looking forward to writing another positive review.
Had my car serviced here did a great job!
When my oldest daughter turned 16, I bought her a used C230 Kompressor & the only people I trusted to check it out was Steve, Richard & Tony. Myself being a third generation Phoenician, she will be the third generation who takes her car there to get serviced, even driving it from Gilbert cause we know she will be treated right.
Ive called them TWICE, answering lady pick up, took my message/request for an oil change appointment, she said she would have someone call me back, I never got a call back either time, now Im over due on oil change taking business elsewhere.
Best service for your Benz at better than dealership prices!
We have a 2005 VW Passat TDI with about 75,000 miles. It has been pampered and all oil changes, air filters and such are regularly maintained. I usually do most maintenance work myself but we just moved to Scottsdale area and I have not had the time. I looked online and found German Auto. Now my story begins…My experience with German Auto has been among the worst I have ever had. In fact, I do not generally write negative review assuming that most issues are singular events. However, in this case we began with a visit and just became a revolving door of the issue recurring and the car needing to be dropped off again and again and again. It is my opinion that the technicians do not have the ability to think beyond their OBD II scanners. In our case we took the car in because it was going into limp mode. German Auto repaired the turbo. We drove the car about a short while (less than a month) and the car went back into limp mode. Back it went for another turbo related repair at this point my wife told them it was shifting oddly too. My wife picked the car up Wednesday before Thanksgiving 2013 and made it about 10 miles before the car’s console lit up again. They told her bring it back Friday morning. I showed up with the car and was told “Sorry we have no one here to drive you home (it was so pathetic that one of their customers offered me a ride) again I mentioned that the car seemed to be shifting oddly. They kept the car several days. We got it back but again we had it a short time when suddenly the car overheated. Now the car needs a whole new set of cooling system parts. A few more days in the shop, we’re several thousand dollars into German Auto now. Christmas night we drive to visit family and the car starts shifting like mad then goes BLAM! Okay, I admit, I’m quite angry now. I have the car towed to a VW garage and call German Auto the next day. German Auto’s solution is for me to pay to have it towed to them so they can “look it over” I ask them why the transmission was never inspected and they assure me it was and that there is “No way there is a transmission issue”. VW slaps and OBD II scanner on it and, yep, transmission is shot. I ended up taking it to a transmission shop in Chandler to get it fixed they towed it for free and they did a complimentary scan. I was absolutely shocked when they said there are two cooling system issues being reported. Back to German Auto I go for warranty work on the work they had done less than one month before (which included replacing the thermostat again). Now three months later April 2014, the thermostat is bad again. Do you think I am going back to German Auto? Not on your life!!! I leave it to you to make your own decision.
I wes told that this company did really good work on Germsn cars, so I called in for service that was previously quoted by the dealership. To my delight, they were about 30% less than the dealer. They did not upsell me and made sure that I felt comfortable with the work being done.Tommy, my service manger did a great job! I would reccomend these guys for any work on your German car!
German Auto has been a life saver on 2 seperate occassions for my wife and I. In both cases we needed transport while the car was getting repaired at the shop, and they were more than willing to get us to our destinations. The Service department was quick to diagnose the issue, and spent time explaining what needed to be done, without pushing or finding other ghost issues to bump-up the price. In all they are very consumer friendly, and excel in there work. Well woth the visit. Cars Owned BWM M3 and CLK 320.
