I rented a small van to help move a friend and it was quite a quick and easy experience. The staff are very professional and personable and I was in and out in minutes. The Van was very clean and worked very well in addition to being very sporty and easy to drive.
Very poor service. We arrived to the storage facility and the representative told us that unfortunately there are no available units despite having a reservation (there have been no units available for the last month yet they stilladvertise that they have them!!). No one had communicated this to us in advance and the representative said there was nothing they could do. We went to public storage close by instead. Completely different experience from the one we experienced at uhaul. Don’t waste your time at this uhaul location.
This location has been very upfront with me about my reservations which is great, and they have plenty of space to get you startd but in my experience, only somtimes the help to get you started. Theyre either helpful or theyre very not. Ive had my complications with U-Haul but this location at least has a level of credibility.
Over the past 5 years, our family has rented the cargo van, 10 and 15 trucks from this facility and always had a positive experience. I recommend going online 1-2 weeks ahead to reserve, especially if youre doing a weekend move.Their hours are convenient, plus they have a drop box if you have to return the vehicle after hours. Its worth paying for the furniture pads, but make sure you fold the pads neatly when you return them to avoid a fee. Likewise, with filling up the gas tank before you return it.
If i could give 0 stars i would. They robbed me crazy amount of money and also got me on hold every time i call... never using this service again. If you guys know another company let me know!
TRUST THE OTHER NEGATIVE REVIEWS AND GO TO ANOTHER LOCATION! They dont seem to be well organized/have a system set up or dont have staff who know how to use the computer system well and are not interested in helping you or providing you service. We came for a reserved unit and were turned away because they said we were too close to closing time to check in to our reserved unit due to all the paperwork, and they just kept refusing to provide us service all the way until closing time! We were forced to find a place to stay overnight with all the furniture, went to another U-Haul storage location the next morning where we found check-in to be FAST AND STRAIGHTFORWARD! I wanted to give the folks here the benefit of the doubt but it became clear that there was ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to turn us away the night before, unless the check-in process here is completely different than that at Strawberry Mansion where there wasnt any of that extensive paperwork like they claimed - check in just involved showing ID, getting some basic contact information (name, phone number, address), paying, and giving them a 4 digit pin (and this was for the non-reserved unit we got at Strawberry Mansion the next morning, compared to the unit I reserved here where my name and contact information were already provided and the unit was already picked out!). The girl at the desk literally had our reservation/information pulled up on the computer and confirmed it and could have just gone ahead and given us the keys! Very very poor service, and as you can see, you may end up getting no service at all.
Never returning to any Uhaul again and ensuring no one I ever know will either. We had a reservation booked this Sunday, 8/30 for a cross country for truck pick up at 9 AM. Told us that it was confirmed no issue. We called Friday, 8/27 just to double check because we know far too many horror stories from friends and family with reservations falling through. Sure enough, they changed our reservation at 2 PM that same day without any notice. The guy on the phone who claimed to be a manager was absolutely terrible and actually said oh yeah we were supposed to call you two days before your reservation with reservations changes like this but we didnt. The reservation before you extended their reservation. He had no empathy or remorse - unbelievable for someone who works in the service industry and in the moving business. We told him there has to be absolutely something to do given the inconvenience, to which he replied that there is a $50 discount they give for not having it confirmed. $50? Such a joke. He then gave us a $100. Again a joke. Glad to know and be able to share that Uhaul values their customers this much. We have since then canceled our reservation and booked with Penske, who got us in last minute, with no issues. Sure, it is significantly higher, but at least we are guaranteed a truck and have had nothing but delightful interactions. Pay more and go with Penske. We will be sure to tell everyone we know and meet to never use Uhaul anywhere again. Spread the world. Last point, every time you call, at Uhaul start the recording states - to keep our promises with you, this call is recorded - they need to remove this immediately from their system as it is a LIE and they could care less. No promises here.

Awful experience. They unilaterally changed my pick up day the day before I was set to move. I called them and asked them why and they said they cant give me any more information about my reservation because its too early in advance FOR THE DATE THEY CHANGED IT TO.How does that make ANY sense? i dont need them to love their job but the woman on the phone is simply not DOING her job as a customer service rep at all.

Very poor service. I rented a truck to bring my daughters stuff back home after she completed college. I was supposed to rent from Newark DE and drive to NJ and return the truck there. I had made a reservation a week earlier. The day before I was supposed to rent U-Haul cancelled the reservation and I called them and they said I could pick up from Philadelphia, do the pick up of stuff from Newark, DE and drive to NJ. The agent on the phone said I would have 160 miles, which would cover all the driving. This mileage amount was recorded on the reservation, I had made.When I went to rent from Philadelphia location, the agent gave me only about 100 miles, which would not cover all the driving. When I pointed to her the error. The agent said she did not know how to correct it and I should call 1-800-Go-Uhaul. When I called 1-800-Go-Uhaul, the agent there said I should call the manager of the Philadelphia location. When I called the manager of the Philadelphia location, she said she could not do it.In general, I found U-Haul agents had a difficult time using the computer system. Also had to wait 15-20 minutes each time for the agent to pick up the phone.
Rude and not helpful. Employees actually laughed at me when attempting a return rather than help. Look for another storage facility. Recommendation to Uhaul to better train employees.
Would give it zero stars if I could. Reserved a 5x10x9 foot storage unit. When we were shown the unit and measured it, it was 4x7 feet. Given that that’s a huge downsize, I knew my stuff would not fit so they showed me several larger units. They were absolutely filthy, several had water damage and smelt like mold. I decided I would make do with the smaller unit and asked for a lower price since it was not the advertised size. The employees told me ‘they don’t measure the units or make the price.’ Took my business to Cubesmart on Callowhill and had a much better experience - extremely clean and helpful employees.
Was helping my buddy move out of Philly and the staff was very friendly and quick to get us on our way. The inside is an old warehouse and very unique for a U-Haul location.
Their app to check the truck timed out. What we entered did not update. We wasted 45 minute with the app. we asked them about it they said take video and pictures. So frustrating

I had a terrible experience on Monday 1st March at 12:30-1 PM trying to pick up a truck I reserved in 1015-25 S 12th St, Philadelphia, PA 19147Especially with an employee who was providing service and identified herself as Shannon Johnson.Several factors made this an unpleasant experience:1. The 3 counter employees did not cover their face with a mask during the process2. Your employee said they canceled my booking as it was not picked up the night before. Understandable, if that is your policy, but you should send a note earlier on. Moreover, Shannon said there are no other available 10 ft trucks on the lot although I could see more 10 ft in the app cca 1h later.3. I then asked to lease a 12 feet truck, at that time my colleague left with my phone. Your employee, Shannon, then requested that I take a phone picture of my driving licence. I could not do that as I did not have my phone on me, but offered her the driving licence itself. She declined and said I cannot lease a truck without a phone and refused to provide service. She was rude, dismissive and not opened for communication.This left me stranded without a phone, in the middle of philly and without a ride back, which doubled my move expenses for the day (hired workers were waiting) as we had a +2h delay until I managed to get to your other location and lease a truck.Ive recently rented a U-haul at a different location and know your employees can take a photo of the licence themselves, this behavior was disappointing.Hope you manage to take care of the issues.Meanwhile Id recommend to anyone looking to avoid this location.Best regards,Alen
Was told to find the truck first and come back for the keys. Find out packed behind 2 other trucks that needed to be moved. Meanwhile the numbered spots were empty and available around the building, couldve avoided the bs and defeated the purpose of mobile check in. They also brought out the wrong dolly. Fun times.
I came to this Uhaul 2 days in a row, the initial day I came I inquired about getting a truck around 6pm to which I was informed that they were out of trucks except for one 10 “in truck that needed to be be returned at 7am the following day. I was accommodated by the Old Gentleman who I believe was the main Manager with a dolly. Which I was grateful for. However, I did not appreciate the comments from the younger shift manager who kept pressing me about being sure that the truck is to be returned or else I’d have fees. I insisted that wouldn’t be a problem and left with the truck. I returned the truck at 4am and left keys in a drop box. I was called at 6:40am with a voicemail asking when I would return the truck and that I would have penalties if I didn’t. I don’t appreciate the lack of organization and kind customer service by the front desk.The following day I placed a reservation for a van and when I showed up I was told it wasn’t available by the younger shift manager who I had spoken to the day before. I feel he was very unprofessional and nonchalant about not having reached out to me an formally canceling my reservation. The front should receive training on proper customer service to insure return customers and satisfaction.

I went to rent a truck to move. The process was quick and easy. I spend less than 10 minutes there before heading out with the truck. Vehicle was well maintained and price was very reasonable. A good experience.

U-Haul is a mismanaged joke. I will never use any of their services again. After arriving for my reservation and starting the process they gave someone else the keys to the truck I was in the process of renting. So over 30 minutes later I was given a different vehicle, cutting into my reservation window considerably. Then to top it off I spoke with one person on the phone to sort it out and see if I qualified for the reservation guarantee, to which I was told absolutely yes, and to simply call back when I was done moving and it would be sorted out. I called back after completing my move, to sit on hold for a long time until I was told I in fact do not qualify for the money back guarantee. I wish U-Haul was more professional and didn’t give me conflicting information that wasted a significant amount of my time. This could have all been avoided if they handled reservations properly. I wouldn’t recommend U-Haul to even my worst enemy at this point. It was utterly ridiculous the way all parties handled this encounter.

Woman at the counter inside was lovely when I rented a moving van. When I returned it, the experience in the parking lot return was horrendous. I felt extremely discriminated by the guy there. I guess since I speak with an accent, he thought he could scream and yell at me. I asked him to lower his voice and told him he doesnt need to scream, so he then cursed me out (he called me a MFer). I will never rent a truck from there again.
It a central location. A bit narrow roads around but you can fit so its good overall.

Super easy location to get to if youre moving around the neighborhood, and we had no issues with the van we rented.
First you need to show a person how to move the mirrors outside that truck they like stuck in place you got to use both hands and some upper back muscles to move them that shouldnt be and then we driving down the road that truck makes so much noise it was so raggedy an something is wrong with the brakes that truck would brake when It wanted to break U-Haul trucks yall need to do better

The studio needed a truck to move a considerable amount of material and we were given exactly what we needed to do the job well. The staff at the store were courteous and helpful and had all of the extras we needed available. I would definitely recommend this particular store and will be happily using them for my moving needs in the future.

Eh. Contactless pick-up didnt work out so I had to go inside. First truck they assigned me had no AC and low tire pressure. 2nd one was ok but I went all of 6 miles and I had to put 2 gallons of gas in to get back to where I was on the gauge.Price was ok.The woman who checked me back in when I returned is very pleasant.

Do everything within your power NOT to use Uhaul. Truly, they are a company that can not figure out how to run a rental business. If the stars all align and you have plenty of time to wait in line, wait on hold and be told to go to another location, you will love them. Otherwise go elsewhere. The staff could not be kinder, and want to help. They are stuck working for a parent organization that does not allow for any flexibility to meet customers needs.
I rent U-Haul vans from this location on a pretty perpetual basis. There are definitely some standouts on the staff that provide excellent customer service that is friendly and helpful. In fact, pretty much all of the indoor counter staff I have experienced have been quite courteous, even when they werent always able to help me with my concerns. Outside sometimes, and sometimes over the phone, it can be hit or miss. It would be great if those good qualities of some of the employees were set as the standard across the board.My biggest gripe would have to be that calling the location will more often than not spit you out to a off-site call center, which can be perpetually frustrating when you have a location specific concern that an off-site person cant help you with. But since it is likely a company wide thing, I cant fault this one location for it.Reviews on pages like these often amplify the rare occurrences on both ends of the spectrum, the very good or the very bad (with the bad often being partly the customers fault). I guess mine is just an example of what is likely to be the normal positive experience one is likely to get at this location. I will definitely choose to use this location over other geographically closer ones just for the sake of having the good service I receive here.
The staff are nice, but uhaul as a company is HORRIBLE. We put a reservation for a storage room with more than a month in advance. The day we are moving, when we start putting things in the room, we see its smaller than the size we had paid for. They did NOTHING to help us, just wanting us to get a bigger one and pay the difference, but we didnt need a bigger one. Whats the use of doing a reservation then? They did a bad job, and they did nothing to solve it as a competent business should do. The manager treated us badly. Unless you need to be in the city, theres other places not far away A LOT CHEAPER, and with a lot better service.
DO NOT use the 24/7 self serve. The app is glitchy and you have to wait for a representative to text you to approve you. I booked my uhaul reservation for 8am and had to wait until they actually opened (9am) to get my rental truck from an employee because the app wouldnt work. An hour and half wasted. Staff was nice.
Terrible layout, only one, small elevator to designated floor. Terrible parking area where both uhaul trucks are returned and storage users park. My car was hit and run by a Uhaul while parked here.

Excellent service. My daughter wished to change return location for a 5x8 trailer from this location to Oregon Avenue. Employee contacted 800 number (with us on the phone) to alter reservation, so we could continue en route from Indianapolis to Philadelphia without complications.I recommend highly!
They have rude customer service. The absolute worst billing system. They over charge on storage... goes up every couple months. And I found a bug in my storage unit. The customer service over the phone is no help and they loose information on files... making it pointless to even talk or wait on hold when having an issue. I had a storage agreement of 70$ per month. They have been getting over charging my like 90$ each month. They are crooks.

Mixed experiences with renting for last-minute trips. Would recommend using the online reservation service or being willing to spend 10 minutes waiting if the place is busy.
Unacceptable service. I pay a monthly fee in addition to the extra fee to be able to access my storage after hours. My account is on automatic billing, but they lock my account every month and ask me to call them just to confirm that I have my account on automatic billing. Every month the manager tells me this won’t happen again, but it has happen EVERY MONTH for 6 months now. It’s unacceptable that I have to walk all the way to the door with heavy boxes only to find out my account has been blocked again! And after several promises that this would not happen again. Get your system corrected or get out of this business!
I want to one-star this place, but 2/3 of the folks here are great. Return folks/cleaners, and dealing with the U-haul truck paperwork in general. The one-star goes to the storage and the customer service on how the treat people.When we first rented our 10x10, we told them we need it big enough to fit our bed in. They said it will. Oh yeah, our bed fit after squeezing in the 4 foot ceiling in a little small door, but our bed frame and our box spring wouldnt fit. So we had to give them up, they pretty much said too bad. Pretty awful move. So make sure you check and see what the height is gonna be, not just 10x10. Itll say 10x10x4, 10x10x6, etc.. because they dont tell you ahead of time, itll be on the invoice after the fact.We dealt with it, hoping that was gonna be the least of our worries as we could just scoop up another box spring when we end up moving.Picking our stuff up wasnt awful. However, we got charged an extra month, after we already cancelled on the proper day. You never came back in and said you were done moving. Well, I personally sat there and waited in line after moving everything in the truck myself. I have e-mail confirmation, and I have paperwork. Dont make excuses for yourself and your colleagues. Rude customer service. I would call out you out, but people have bad days. I just hope next time you will be more respectful to customers and not just outright rude.
I rented a one way truck from Ithaca NY. Marlo was so helpful with the return process. She was also friendly and kind.
The customer service representative was very rude when I tried to exchange some boxes. I picked up the wrong size & wanted to make an even exchange & pay the difference. She told me I couldnt because I didnt have a receipt, I informed her that her employee didnt give me one because she was to busy eating & laughing with her co worker. I was told it was my fault for not asking for one. I just left & took a lost & brought my boxes from a different location.
Just rented a 10 truck yesterday, and had no issues whatsoever. There were no lines, customer service was friendly and helpful, and the truck worked perfectly. It also seems like they have a ton of moving trucks available, so hopefully there will always be one available to rent. I would recommend this location.

I rented a small cargo van 6/6/2019 transaction was done at 10:52 am, a fraudulent charge was made at 11:02am, in Maryland, for $700.00+, it was declined and we were notified, had to be by an employee there! Investigator did contact me to verify the information!! Just be aware, DONT hand over your card!!Denny
We rented a small non CDL box truck . We had it for a half day and drove 74 miles returned with more gas then it had when we picked it up. The price was over 200.00 dollars. They drive around with 19.95 a day all painted on their trucks. I could see other charges but over 200.00 was way to expensive.
Staff is A1 garbage. They treat it like its their personal playground with ZERO professionalism, ZERO. One building is maintained and the other across the street is like a Tomb Raider/Hunger Games adventure... may the odds be ever in your favor F-

I am very satisfied with choosing U-Haul services for renting my storage pod. It was an emergency situation, and I had to rent a unit ASAP. I went to the storage place that was closer to my home first, but there were so many unnecessary questions being asked, that made me feel uncomfortable. The salesperson was pushy with stuff insurance, wanted to know what kind of things am I going to store, why do I want to access my things 24/7 without having an official business, and on top of that asked whether I own or rent, and when he found out that I am a renter, asked whether I have renter’s insurance, and when I responded blunt “no”, he looked at me in kinda dissaproving “surprised” and judgemental way, like it’s his bussiness. It was simply off-putting. By contrast, when I went to U-Haul facility for the first time, I was shown different pod sizes at different locations no questions asked, and when I said I need a time to think about it, nobody pushed me, the manager did not instantly change his face from “friendly” to “whatever”, remained cool, professional and I left with really good impression. Thus, after exploring couple other places, I returned, and not only I got a deal handshake, but I was offered one month rent free, 24/7 access to my pod without being a businessperson for free, and even personal help from the manager himself and a woman employee to unload my boxes and wheel them to the pod, again, no questions asked. This is what I call outstanding customer service.
Be prepared to wait. Staff is usually pretty friendly, but theres nowhere near enough of them to handle the workload of how busy this location is. Very poor control of the parking lot. I have been blocked in several times unable to leave without going back in to the store to complain.

The sun visor was broken and the shade fell multiple times in the view of my eyes while driving from vibration of truck I had to hold it up very annoying and uncomfortable
I just moved from West Philly to South Philly and used these guys. The service at the desk was fantastic, the truck was clean, and there were no hidden fees added on. The only thing I would say was that when I called ahead, the phone service was poor - they had me on hold for over 20 minutes, and when I called back and someone finally answered they were not at all helpful or friendly.
