I had to replace an ugly light fixture in my pantry. Penn Hardware had everything I needed for a reasonable price. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, & friendly.

A small neighborhood hardware store that may not have a football field sized business, but have staff who actually KNOW what they are talking about when asked questions about products by not so mister fix it people like me. If they dont have what you need, the staff tells you....instead of trying to sell you the wrong product like many big name chain stores do.Additionally, being a neighborhood store, they are familiar with neighborhood homes, from skylight screens to 70 year old door lock replacements. One of the few such businesses left. And yes, it has been my experience that they appreciate our military, veterans and first responders like the big chain stores do.

Small place but always have what Im looking for. Rather use small mom and pop stores.

I bought an air pump to fill my granddaughter’s new bike tires. The pump was blowing air though the system but wouldn’t work on the tire. After three adults tried to use it I went back to return/exchange it. The employees all said that sales were final and accused me of using it for what I needed. They said people do it all the time. They were yelling at me as if I was trying to scam them. I am a resident in the neighborhood for years trying to keep stores like this afloat. I’ve never been so insulted. Next trip will be Home Depot.

Its a neighborhood hardware store, not one of them small hole in the wall stores that ya cant move in,,, its a big store with plenty of space n seems to have everything ya need for any kind of project, there are two gentlemen that work there that are always friendly helpfull n knowledgeable, to be honest things cost just a few more bucks then the big chain stores, trade off they get to know ur face n make ya feel known, maybe its me but i like the fact someone recognized me as someone that frequents n spends money in there, when was the last time ya was invany of the big cahan stores n they remembered you, alwsys call ahead for hours open

Hours say they are open utill 7. I am here at 6:25 pm and they are closed.

The owners and staff (except for one cashier) was EXTREMELY RUDE & unprofessional for the two times I went there, and overall overpriced merchandise anyhow. Don’t give these people business, they don’t deserve it. Support another mom and pop place that actually deserves it.

The only reason I give 2 stars is because this store does have a large stock and they are convenient if you live or work in Mayfair. But the customer service is terrible! I dont know how reviewers say otherwise. I have been in here 3 times recently and each time they were rude and unprofessional. They definitely wont get my business again.

Read Leons comment. They did leave me do an exchange . However, I had a horrifying experience with the bald-headed so called gentlemen. It escalated to him yelling at me when I was in back of the store doing my exchange. Unprofessional !! The owner better wake-up. Reading your comments your making people not want to come back. Im. Glad ! Ive lived here since 1966 and these owners need to wake up. I hope 🙏 they close. I really do! If youre going in for stupid sh* t theyre helpful because they cant handle anything more.

My handicapped father went in to get plexie glass cut he gave the guy the measurements and said he would be back tomorrow with myself to pick it up since he isnt physically able to carry it. The guy told him “What if you get into an accident? I can’t cut it unless your taking it now.” This man was very rude and offended my father. HE IS DISABLED! Meanwhile, him and I go back the next day to get the plexie glass CUT and picked up. He took his time waiting on other customers while making my father stand for a long period of time. Unbelievable! However, the lady at the register was helpful and offered my dad a seat.

One of the few stores in Mayfair that pretty much stayed as it was In the 70s. Its still a good store. Tuff parking but the people make it worth going. I think in the 70s there was also a hardware store on the block of Walgreen but they closed.

Local hardware store with employees that know what they are doing

They are very friendly and extremely helpful and know exactly what you are looking for when you ask someone there. It takes ten minutes to find someone to help you at Home Depot or Lowes and when you do they tell you that is not my department and they are not sure what you need, so support your local hardware store and go to Penn Hardware!!

Went in today for a replacement mop head.. was greeted at the door asked if I needed help. I said yes Im looking for brooms/mops.. OK far back corner he says... go to back look at selection (minimal) dont see one I need so I decide to leave.. at the door Im stopped by lady behind the counter and two men who asked me to empty my pockets... what do you think Id steal a mop? where would I even put it? its not like I was walking around acting weird or anything I was literally I there for 2mins. thats not the friendly neighborhood hardware store I expected.. I wouldnt ever step foot in here again this is no way to treat customers...

Great service! I needed to make a replacement key for my broken key. None of the big hardware stores couldnt do it. This store was able to make a replacement in less than 5 mins.

Was a customer for over 15 years . Bought a shop vac cause the guy said it works great well it doesnt my house vaccum is better tried to take it back said i couldnt cause i used it . well how do i know it sucks if i didnt . terrible i even said id be happy with store credit . Thier reply no . Thanks i get for years of patronage even when i knew i could get better prices elsewhere .

Bought a post digger yesterday. Cashier told me i can bring it back if i dont use it. I never even took it out of my car. Tried bringing it back with the receipt and got denied. Theres no policy that says anywhere that says no returns. Just rude employees. I would give 0 stars if i could.

This place are getovers and thieves!!! Do not go here I am a single parent and have 7 kids at home and I used to come here for help cause Im a woman and count on help for my home and since this was in the neighborhood instead of traveling to a big name store I would come here anyway my circuit breakers were tripping I came for help here they sold me 3 circuit breakers which Cost about 60 dollars and said if they werent right to bring them back but they also suckered me into getting an outlet that I couldnt hook up so I brought that back they kept my receipt for returns and when the 2 circuit breakers didnt fit and I went back for help they said it was my loss!!!! I will chalk it up to a lesson well learned!!! Ithats a disgrace for a man to get over and steal a womans hard earned money like that!!! I would love to see the owner to tell me why they would steal my money and not help me!!! I just wanted the right stuff to help so I dont have a fire in my house!! Thats a shame that there are people in the world so cruel!!!

Bought an item yesterday. I was told if it didnt work I could bring it back. I brought it back the next day and even though they remembered me they would not give my money back because I didnt have a receipt. The lady at the front desk was very rude about it. I will never step foot in this store again.
