Needed a quick repair and the big guys were no help. Luckily I found Lous and they accurately diagnosed the issue and were able to get me back on the road in very little time.Highly recommended.

Had a Honda Civic and the transmission leaked out all of the fluid while driving and lost power on the side of the road. After getting it towed, showed up to Discount Transmission and they immediately took the vehicle off the truck and said they would take a look at it. They were able to take a look at the vehicle within 24 hours and also diagnose and fix the issue immediately. Was concerned that the issue was going to be expensive and labor-intensive since it was transmission related, but ended up being a simple fix as they looked at the problem objectively and honestly. Lou was not only courteous, professional and quick, but Lou was also very personable, caring and honest about the work that needed to be done. Lou also provided tips for the future to avoid the problem. Would highly recommend Discount Transmission to anyone who has a transmission or vehicle issue.

After experiencing some transmission issues and a check engine light code I brought my car in I was told that it would be inspected free of charge which it was however they had my car for four days without any communication and when I called I couldnt get through to anyone. When I went to pick up my car I was told that I needed a new transmission but really couldnt tell me what the problem was, I asked if everything was inspected including the fluid and filters they reassured me that it was. Honestly I didnt think they really inspected it which prompted me to get a second opinion which im so glad I did because I found out that the issue was a leaking transmission line and dangerously low fluid, How did they miss that? I was about to pay over a thousand dollars plus for a problem that only cost me in the low hundreds. Beware people get a second opinion if you must. The only good thing about this is that I didnt have to pay them to lie to me

Lengthy repair times and absolutely no communication. I bought my car here for a simple issue. It was fixed, but whatever they did didnt last so I had to bring the car back 3 weeks later. So I take it back to them expecting a quick turnaround for a repeat customer. And to make good on the work they had done. But instead they have my car sitting on the street for 3 months. With absolutely no communication from them during that time. The last straw was when I was put on hold for a few minutes and then hung up on.. This place may be Discount but be prepared to have your vehicle out on the street for months not getting repaired.

My transmission blew out of nowhere so I had my car towed to Lou’s discount. He said no charge for taking a look at it and evaluating what I’d need. Turns out, I’d need a used transmission that would cost (with labor) more than the car at this point. Lou was very sweet and upfront about everything and even offered to look into getting rid of the car for me. If I ever have transmission problems in future, I’m going straight to Lou!

If I could rate this place -10000 I would. The transmission on our Ford Edge just died out of no where one day so living in South Philadelphia I came across this place on Google. Thinking with the good reviews it has online that it would be an okay place to get my transmission replaced at. And all I can say is I was SO wrong. The day we picked up our car as soon as we started driving away we knew something was not right. Our car was making noises that it had never made before and sounded & drove worse then before dropping it off here. When we picked the car up the very first day it was done all we were hearing was all different kinds of noises from not only under the hood when going from first to second gear but then also underneath whenever I’d go over even the tiniest bump/ any kind of bump at all I immediately heard all these rattling and knocking noises. It almost sounded like the under frame of the car was going to just completely fall out from underneath us as well as the tires making a horrible screeching, womping noise whenever I made a tight turn or had to parallel park. Not sure what was going on or why our vehicle was now making all these new horrendous noises that it had never made before.. I decided to take it to a nearby auto shop (Mid City Tires and Auto) and asked them to take a look at it as well as explained that we just picked it up from getting our transmission replaced and that we have no idea what happened because it hadn’t been driven and was not making any of these noises or driving like how it was since we’ve owned the truck. after dropping it off they let us know that we were lucky the whole transmission didn’t fall out because the whole sub frame was not put on / tightened back together properly not only that but also they didn’t know how we even drove it as far as we did without our tire falling off because the ball joints were so loose they then continued to tell me to call them back and tell them to fix whatever else they broke / didn’t do right because even after them tightening the tire rod and sub frame it was still making noises and said it sounded like a Junkyard Transmission was put in and that something definitely wasn’t right with whatever they did. I brought it back to Discount Transmission and explained to them what was told to us at Mid City Lou, chuckled, then asked who our mechanic is that we brought it to, to get looked at and then said well we will see what’s going on with it and give you a call. Turns out the transfer case they used was bad and needed to be replaced & that now it needs an axle couldn’t explain to me why now all of a sudden it needs a new axle when he took everything apart because the only thing wrong with the car when I brought it there was the transmission slipping other than that it drove fine, and didn’t have any of these issues. He then said that if I buy an axle and get it shipped there he will put it on for free. So I buy one and pick up my car the next day. As I’m driving away and make a sharp turn I’m still hearing the same noise that I was before I brought it back to him. I decide to take it to Firestone to get checked out and see if they can tell me what is really going on with it and why. After bringing it there we come to find out underneath our car was completely rigged back together and after putting the axle on they electrical taped our ABS censor back into place, both tires needed a new tire rod which was causing the knocking womping sound when making turns & parking. They said the truck was possibly dropped while on the lift or was not properly put on the lift which would cause the tire rods to go like that, and that we now need a whole new ABS censor since they just taped it back underneath the car. All of this work to be done costed us another 2 grand when we called to confront them about what we were told they denied messing anything up and said that they told us we needed an alignment, which was not true. They denied it all. My transmission turned out costing over 4 grand after paying for the damages caused by them. Thanks for nothing

Im just suspicious because guy this morning gave me a quote to fix my transmission of $1295 over phone and than says i would need to give him a deposit of half of that upfront it sounds Shady why do you need a deposit anyway im going to use my instincts and take my car somewhere else?

Transmission died on my 2003 Toyota Avalon. They fixed me up right at the price they quoted me at and it was a good service job. Better priced than anyone else in the area. Lou and everyone there was good, 10,000 miles later car is still great.

I really like this place. They towed my car for free and put in a used transmission. About 2 months later while still under warranty I started having transmission problems again. They towed my car again for free and fixed the problem. Now the car is driving excellent and I started to refer other people to discount transmission. I love the work that they do..

Had my car for 2 months and never started it. They have terrible communication. Everytime I called they did not answer but when I call from a different number they answer . Told me they ordered my transmission but never did so the process took even longer .

Took my car in after the check engine light indicated a transmission problem. They could have easily talked me into a rebuild. Instead, Lou checked it out said it was just normal wear for that mileage. He didnt charge for the checkup. Ill be back when it needs work.

Professional job and treated very fairly. Lou took the time to explain what needed to be done to my 97 Grand Voyager. He stood by his price, even after I needed to come back a week later as the service light came back on. Dont let the appearance of the neighborhood fool you. I had a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix with 177K miles on it one day in traffic she died on me, never had any major problems with the car before. Everyone was telling me I needed a new Trans and I love my Grand Prix and didnt want to get rid of her. So I called Lous and he towed my car for free from West Philly! In 1 week I was back in my car & she was driving better than ever, Im so thankful for Lou and highly recommend this shop and prices are reasonable too!

05 VW manual transmission couldnt shift into reverse. I called Lou and he had me in for an assessment. It took a little longer than expected because parts needed to be ordered, but the repair was much less expensive than I thought it would be and everything runs great now. Highly recommended and will go back for service in the future.

After finally make a decision I decided on this shop .Spoke with Lou yesterday regarding having my transmission serviced (replaced, rebuilt) and was told to call back today before having it towed . Place a called and was told Lou will be out till Monday. I asked if I should still bring the car in .He told me you didnt speak with me, you spoke to Lou, call Monday and hung up abruptly. This Guy was rude and I will not be having my vehicle serviced there unfortunately.

Had my gasket replaced between the transfer case and the trans picked it up on Wednesday broke down on ac Express way on Thursday trans slipping all over tried to get to an exit truck overheated and had to be towed. I called and found out truck was not road tested or no fluid was put in Ill be seeing them in small claims court the worst experience of my life.

I took my car here multiple times and each time I receive excellent service!!!! I will always take my car to Discount Transmission for transmission service as long as there doors are open.
