I run the Kuk Sool Won school in Muncie, Indiana.Master Ben and the students at Kuk Sool Won of Peoria are like a second school-family for me. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, Master Ben is a widely recognized and accomplished martial artist. His students are superb. They regularly challenge and support each other to meet their goals.I’m proud to train at Kuk Sool Won of Peoria.

Kuk Sool Won has been a staple in the martial arts community in the Peoria area for over 20 years. The owner, Ben Mitchell, truly exemplifies what a coach, mentor, and martial artist should be. He has changed the lives of thousands for the better during his time as owner. If you are looking to enroll your children or yourself into martial arts, look no further than Kuk Sool Won of Peoria.

Master Ben Mitchell is dedicated to helping instill the values of respect, responsibility, patience, understanding, perseverance, and kindness in young children. His students benefit in far more ways than just simply learning martial arts. Great opportunity for the children in our community!

My son has attended for 3 years now. He has anxiety, ADHD, and Autism. KSW has taught him dedication, determination, and commitment. He has worked his way up by sticking with it and practicing. He seems to focus better through his work with Master Ben. Part of working your way up to eventual black belt is working with lower belts. My son assists lower belts learn new skills this helps him with his skills. Master Ben works with him and others on being better helpers. We started with just attending a few sessions, then did a six week trail package. We now do the year contract. The contract spells out the commitment and process for leaving. Master Ben is passionate, dedicated and an excellent instructor to all who take the commitment. I highly recommend his classes to all who are willing to make the commitment and are dedicated to the training.

To address the one negative review, we all sign 12-month contracts ea. year. If you breach contract and dont try to work it out with the person you signed the contract with, you eventually get sent to collections. This is ridiculous to put into a review of a business. He is also misleading everyone because his second child was signed up 2 weeks later and his wife told him about the 12-month contract in front of me, but you told her to sign it anyway, so pretending you didnt know about the 12-month contract is a lie with respect to the second child at a minimum.Regarding 95% young-instructor-time, he was not present for much of any classes, and he is wrong about the attention his children received in their handful of classes. As a parent, it is your job to give your children new experiences, but 2 weeks of martial arts training, just like quitting after 2 weeks with a musical instrument, is teaching them to quit anything that doesnt come automatically to them. I am sorry for your children. They had a lot of potential, and it isnt their fault that you signed your name with the intention of breaching contract after a month and then ignoring any attempts to resolve it.That aside, my whole family loves Kuk Sool Won. It is an encouraging and positive environment for kids to grow and learn about the rewards of hard work, while learning how to defend themselves if the need ever arises. The Kuk Sool program with Master Ben Mitchell is also challenging enough for adults of any ability level to get in better shape and have fun.The Kuk Sool system provides a strong, traditional foundation in Korean martial arts, and the quality of instruction is top notch, and I have been doing martial arts for decades. If you or someone you know is even interested in starting or continuing martial arts learning, you really must come by and talk to Master Ben to understand the quality of the results that his school can provide.According to Master Ben, a Black Belt is just a white belt that never gave up! So never give up!

Kuk Sool Won is such a blessing!!! Our daughter has been a student for about 7 years, and we could not be happier. Ben Mitchell is a most caring and dedicated man who guides his students through the discipline needed to earn promotions and belts. He does not give up on students, and he shows utmost respect in his teachings. He gives respect to earn respect. Martial Arts has been an incredible journey for our daughter and for us, as parents. We have seen a more disciplined, proud, brave, and STRONG young girl have focus and direction that she was missing. There are no words to describe how thankful we are that we found Sir and this school, as there was nothing that would take a very young child of 5 at that time. I am so glad no one did offer that, because this school is top notch, the BEST!!!! We love the fact that different ages can attend classes, that there is flexibility in attending those classes, and that fun and numerous after hours activities are planned for both students and parents. It is a FAMILY of really fabulous people. THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM of our hearts.

I looked all over Peoria for a school that I would have to EARN each colored belt. I have a martial arts background but, admittedly have not practiced in about 10 years. While there are other legitimate schools available. I set about finding one by interviewing each instructor. I told Master Ben what I was looking for and my expectations. Took a couple of free introductory classes and knew that Kuk Sool Won was for me and my entire family. Now, if you do not like discipline, do not like to sweat, not willing to push your body to the limit and most importantly willing to give between 100% up to 150% every class. Then, I can unequivocally tell you, this is not the school for you. However, if you are doing your very best, the instructors will recognize this and work with you (depending on the class size one on one). In fact, the instructors are fun, serious and love to teach.I will admit, I am normally hurting after most classes but the pain is just a reminder that I am still living. Lastly, Master Ben and his instructors run a traditional Korean Full Martial Arts school as well as a business. I am proud to be a Kuk Sool Won family member!

Completely disappointed with Ben Mitchells approach. Our two sons (7, 6 Y.O.) took lessons for 4 and 2 weeks respectively, we paid 1 month for each. Ben has sent us to collection agency asking for 12 months of payment. He expects us to pay for 11 months of instruction that they never received.During the time our 6 yr old son attended, he was instructed by other children ages ~ 9-15 years old? 95% of the time. Contact with adults was insignificant. But yet they think we should pay for a years worth, when we stop in less than 1 month. For other Peoria families benefit, I hope in the future this organization makes it 100% clear that one must pay for the entire year. Maybe secure a deposit up front, or some other approach. We were not aware of the 12 month commitment, as we signed the contract very quickly (only had 5 minutes to go over it, as Ben showed up late to our meeting). During prior discussion, he had mentioned that even if my son was only involved for a couple of months, it would be a good experience for him. Other martial arts groups in Peoria and Germantown Hills do not require annual commitment, but only monthly. We have learned of another family with a similar problem. Their daughter took lessons for under 2 months, and now they are also sent to collection agency.Very dissapointing

When I signed my 5 and 7 year old up for KSW, I didnt know how much of an impact it would have in our lives. Watching them grow and gain confidence and respect over that first few months was amazing. I found myself staying to watch their progress, as well as watch the higher belts practice. Its truly a beautiful art. Two months later, I signed up so I could gain confidence, get balance and make memories with my boys. Master Ben is an inspiration and has excellent instructors under him. This has been an inspirational journey and I cannot wait to see where it takes us.

Kuk Sool Won is a wonderful place for our family. All of the instructors are so good and patient with children. I am always impressed with them. My two children (ages 6 and 8) as well as my husband have been students for a year and a half now, and they all really enjoy it. If you are considering a martial arts program, I recommend without reservation Kuk Sool Won of Peoria with KJN Ben Mitchell.

For a while, Ive been looking around for a martial art that tested me both mentally and physically. With only small experience as a child with Karate, I did not know what to expect from a Korean art Ive never heard of before. After taking the free trial class, I was hooked. Kuk Sool Won tests me constantly and always makes me push myself to a level I never thought I could achieve. Master Ben and the other Black Belt instructors make class fun, exciting and inviting. They make it their goal to better yourself and show you what you are truly capable of. If you are having issues with flexibility, Kuk Sool Won is perfect as well. I had a serious motorcycle accident years ago, and Kuk Sool has helped my mobility, flexibility and overall stamina dramatically. Kuk Sool!

Kuk Sool Won of Peoria is awesome. My kids and I have been training since 2004, and its been a tremendous source of recreation, discipline, life lessons, and--last but not least--friendship for our family. I cant count the number of times Ive said to my kids Its just like in Kuk Sool Won . . . and then repeated a lesson theyve learned in class about diligence, or respect, or responsibility (or good low stances). Master Ben Mitchell is an outstanding teacher to all ages of students (both of my kids started when the were 4 years old), and he and his black belt instructors are great at bringing out the best in their students and setting a fun and respectful tone in their classes.I am very happy our family can be involved in martial arts, Im thankful were practicing Kuk Sool Won, but I take the greatest pride in being a student of Ben Mitchells.

Kuk Sool Won of Peoria is the greatest martial arts school in Peoria. You dont buy your belt or strips you earn them, you are not just a student you are part of a family and the cost, contacts and events are affordable and fair. After almost 4 years the cost of training and events has been consistent and fair. The school started in the basement of the owners house and now we have moved to a new location, Which we all played a part. The new building was needed because the school has grown that much, Way To Go Kuk Sool. The free trail offers a great opportnity to try it out and almost always lead to joining the Kuk Sool family. The owner/operator, Master (Ben Mitchell), Black Belts and the entire team motivates, embraces and cares about each other from top to bottom. You are always welcome so, if you dont belong start your New Year with us and be a part. Look forwarded to seeing you there.

Kuk Sool Won has been like an extended family while my son has been taking lessons! When in class the children and adults are treated with respect. We did have an experience elsewhere where the instructors quite frankly intimidated/scared my son and at KSW he is encouraged to strive to do his best. The experience has assisted his self esteem, strengthened his body, and assisted in helping his attention with home and school activities. The instructors at KSW are patient with varied learning speeds and encourage the successes....not point out the failures. The instructors even sent text messages to him when he was out of class and home after surgery....like I had said...family.
