Larry and his team are great! My father was a mechanic so I know a good and HONEST one when I find one. I will drive over a half hour to go here only as they are that good. Will never tell you that you need something done to make money. Larry found the reason for the steering problem I had that no one else could as soon as he drove the car. That is when I was hooked.

In the world of business, first impressions are absolutely everything. I recently changed insurance companies, and was required to complete a pre-insurance inspection of my vehicle. There are only a handful of service shops in Massachusetts that do these kinds of inspections, so I took my chances with Rte 1 Auto Service in Peabody.I work a rotating schedule in the public safety profession, so I don’t always have time off that fits into the normal schedule of everyone else. After getting held over at work, I rushed right down for my inspection. Just as I pulled into the parking lot, the skies opened up and it began pouring. Route 1 Auto does not normally do inspections like this in the rain because the process is done outside.Nonetheless, Linda in the shop made an exception and worked quickly and diligently to get the job done in no time flat. She could have turned me away, and I would’ve had to drive 45 minutes back home and return sometime next week. But instead, she was kind and understanding of the sudden and unexpected weather, and she bent over backwards to help me out.This was the first time I have ever been to this service center, and they made a wonderful impression on me. In the Public Safety profession, I dedicate my life to helping others when they are in need, and I was so pleased that Linda and her team extended the same courtesy to me, a relative stranger who just showed up in her shop one rainy day. I highly recommend Rte 1 Auto in Peabody, MA.

These guys are the best. Have my 03 Yukon running like new. Tires radiator thermostat tire rods brakes and even a new ignition. I would not recommend anyone else but Larry and the boys. They are first class and get the job done right the first time.

Im a new customer to their business and wish I found them years ago. Every time I go in Linda fits me right in, and Larry calls me soon after telling me what needs to be done and the cost which is always reasonable. As soon as you give the ok they get right on it. Theyre speedy, have great prices, and really know what theyre doing. I never have to bring my car back for the same issue, they get it right the first time!

My Subaru Outback had several lights go off on the dash. Linda made my appointment and helped to set my expectations. Larry called me to explain what work was needed so that I could make an accurate decision.The car was repaired promptly. When I picked up my car, Larry showed me the failed part and explained in more detail what the problem was. He answered my questions, which made me very comfortable with his professionalism. I will continue to return there for my automotive needs.

Ive been bringing my vehicles to Rte 1 Auto for over 20 years. When calling for an appointment they fit you in as quickly as possible and always due a great job. You never have to worry about them trying to sell you a service thats not needed and will let you know when you should expect to need additional work done. Recent backup camera installation.Completely satisfied, installation was completed earlier than expected.This shop is extremely honest and professional, they fully explain every detail, from the kind lady @ the desk, the technicians,and especially the owner, Larry.I would recommend this shop for any automotive needs or repairs.First class establishment! I recently had my car detailed,@ a local establishment, they accidentally somehow twisted the camera, Larry took 2 minutes to fix and had me sit in my car to make sure it was fine!Again, first class all the way!!

Excellent experience again with Rte 1 Auto. I brought my 9 year old car in for a long list of problems. All were fixed within a reasonable amount of time and at a fair price. They contacted me with the estimate for work prior to completing repairs, so I knew what my expense would be. Repairs were done when they promised. Happily, my car is running great now!

Larry and his son Scott are the best AutoTechnicians in the Auto Repair Business. When you go to have your car checked its more like a family reunion. Everyone has a great sense of humor and Linda the receptionist is a great addition to the family unit. I never have to worry about my car after leaving Route 1 Auto Services, they get the job done right the first time.

I have been using for at least 7 years after discovering them on WBZ. My family that has cars out of warranty now use the services here. Knowledge, professionalism, reasonable price. Not only ExplainIng what needs to be done, but most important why. Never regretted finding them.

Friendly staff. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Went to get a flat tire fixed and the mechanic helped me find a tire that fit and got everything in order.

I had an issue with my lights on my Ford pickup, this was my first time coming here and based on reviews I decided to give it a chance.The work was done correctly but the cost was 300$ for simply changing out the light switch box, something I couldve done for less than 60$I was tired of working on it and brought it to them because I thought it wouldnt cost me that much.He claimed that he was checking my car for over 2 hours..haha. hence the 300$ charge.I gave him 250$ still feeling like I overpaid and supposedly I cant go back there anymore, not like I would, right?UPDATE: My lights have stopped working and are doing what they did before they fixed it.Basically gave them $250.

Been using Larrys shop for 4 years to service our two Hondas. Always satisfied. Besides, I like the friendly shop dogs.

Scott Rubenstein, I am responding to your post below: I posted a negative review about my experience with your repair shop. After a few months I removed the review not because it was not true only that I made my point about the dishonest service I received and decided to move on. I did not see your response until recently. When I called you out on this at the time your Father Larry began yelling and screaming just like the other review on this page stated. This is what prompted me to post my review long after my dishonest experience. Scott is right I have not done business with them in about 7-8 years. I use to have them work on several of my vehicles and after this bad experience I went someplace else. You can see the hostility they exhibit by calling me a COMPLETE LIAR and DISHONEST! Why would I, the owner of a successful local roofing company for 36 years lie? It would serve no purpose whatsoever. My original post was polite, honest and 100% accurate. I would never trust them again. I suggest people ask to see all the old parts and the receipts for the new parts from their supplier. I wish Scott and Larry the best of luck! Barry

Caveat Emptor (buyer beware) with this place!Just won a court case for the second time involving this place and Larry.Very bad experience with a truck I got from him and had to go to court over it, but Justice prevailed in the end!Be very careful with this place.

Had my car serviced with a complimentary oil change. I was treated just as I was a paying customer. Service was fast and great.

As The Owner of Rte 1 Auto, I need to respond, Overclocked and Ripoff report are spam that have no complaints listed, just a negative star which is an attack campaign they put on businesses to sell a resolve after, similar to a rogue virus. Perfect storm is an unkown customer. The few complaints that have crossed our doors are handled proffessionally and with resolve. The person George that is listed posted this after we asked him not to return to our shop for further service. George has a car that runs great and a van that runs well. The conflict is over labor time which is documented. There was never a quality of work issue. Please read carefully and seperate the spam/hatemail from honest reviews. Thanks for reading. As far as Barry goes, he has had no contact with this company in many years and choose to keep it like that. Barry and I went to court on the matter, and the documents were produced by Barry to the Magistrate. The Magistrate ruled in our favor due to the documents produced by Barry were phony. We also presented technical service bulletins substantiating the need for the work that was authorized by Carnes Company. I wish to have no further dealings with Barry and have told him so. Larry

Barry Carnes is a roofer/ owner of AB Carnes roofing and a complete liar. The man has not traded business here in over 10 years and simply wrote a negative review to be dishonest as he always has been. This is one of the problems with online reviews and no proof of a transaction ever taking place. Really not surprised to find somethng like this from him.
