I have a young son that has been attending the early skills program for over 3 months and it has been terrific. Our son loves it and looks forward to it every week. Heidi and her team are fantastic. Absolutely recommend.

We were at 4GK for two years before my son decided that he no longer wanted to do Kung-Fu. During that time I absolutely loved being a part of the 4GK Family! While Ill be missing the atmosphere here, Im hoping that one of my younger boys will want to join again in the future. Everyone at 4GK is very welcoming to new members . MY son won a gift certificate to come here for a month he didnt think he would end up loving it so much. He looks forward to coming to class each week to see his instructors and learn all of the new techniques he also has definitely become more confident in himself which is a plus in my book. Out of all the sports my son plays I have never felt more welcomed by such friendly staff!

We just started a month ago and my kids are in love & cant get enough of it. Everyday they ask do they have class. Its great for all ages and I really like that they split them up. My daughter is 5 and is learning age appropriate skills while in the next class my 8 year is learning different things. The staff is super friendly and always accommodates our needs. I absolutely love the fun nights they do as well, the kids get to hang out & have fun while I get to relax a bit a home. Overall very satisfied with this program.

We found this gem about 6 months ago. I started classes first, adult kickboxing is an amazing stress reliever! Now my 4 year old is enrolled in the Early Skillz program and she cant get enough! They also have great trials for low cost if you want to try a few classes before signing up. Amazing website and motivational posts encourage awesome parenting! Definitely worth checking out...

I took the 630am kickboxing class and it was amazing. I was so pumped and ready to take on the day. Everyone was super nice and the routine was so much fun I would definitely recommend and be back for more!!!

The Four Gates school is more than just a school, its a family. Everyday after work I find myself running there to be greeted by more smiling faces than I can count. Im relatively new to martial arts and i wasnt expecting to learn what i know so quickly. I take part in the adult martial art class, everything is taught with purpose and a meaning. 4GK is excellent! I signed up my son for Basic Skillz just a few weeks after his 4th birthday. He loves coming to class to see his fellow ninjas and I really enjoy watching him learn new skills. The Four Gates School of Chinese Martial Arts has been a wonderful place for my children to grow and develop under the leadership of Sifu Mike. Before starting at the Four Gates, we enrolled our daughter in another martial arts school. The initial experience turned her off completely. Thankfully after the suggestion of a physical therapist to enroll the children in martial arts to help with motor development, we decided to give the Four Gates a try. Both of my children, ages 7 and 9, feel at home and continue to grown in confidence and skills. Sifu Mike has created an atmosphere that is encouraging and fun. All of the children follow his lead and work together to help all students reach their potential. As a mother and a teacher I strongly recommend this school as a place to build self-confidence, self-discipline, and physical fitness.

I have done kickboxing in the past but Four Gates offers so much more than any other class/school I have gone to. They are a family. They want you to enjoy your time while making it a point to help you reach your goals. They are awesome with teaching the proper techniques so that you not only get the most out of your workout but so you dont injure yourself. I find that there is not a class that goes by that I dont laugh at some point. There is also not a class that goes by where I dont stop and think omg I need a break, but then instructor or another student encourage you to keep going and you push yourself. That is the motivation I need and I get that here! I have seen amazing growth in not only myself but in everyone else that I go to class with. All of the instructors are great and definitely keep changing it up so that you are never bored or feel like you are in a routine.... I have recommended Four Gates to everyone that has complemented me on my transformation so far. I know I still have a long way to go and I am very excited to be going through this journey with Sifu Mike Evans, Heidi, Frank, Scott and all students I workout with!I recently ran into Heidi after taking time off and having surgery. I thought it was fate running into her as my husband and I were just discussing me getting back out there in the fitness world. Im not sure if this is the same place that used to be across from Dragon Palace restaurant in Patchogue but i do remember seeing something about four gates on the backs of some of the guys there...anyways, on my karaoke nights at the bar a few doors down I remember being captivated by the sheer energy and enthusiasm in the place. Ive never taken any classes or anything but I was compelled to go inside it being winter. strange thing was the windows were fogged up. So i went and spoke to a rather large well-spoken gentlemen behind a desk for a bit about my experience(lack of) but he seems nice and knowledgeable which was different from what i usually think of fighters. but the think that had me puzzled was how hard everyone was working allthewhile fatigue was clearly written all over their faces...any place that could make you want to do something like that has got to be worth taking a peek at

We attend the classes for 4-year-olds, and my son LOVES karate. Their simple, routined structure has created a great safe space for my little man. Sifu Mike clearly puts his heart and soul into his company, keeping parents and students updated and in the loop, and Miss Heidi has become a friend. They make the experience very personal! My one complaint would have been that the location is a little dingy, for lack of better words, but they are renovating and it looks so great. Well done 4GK!

I take my grandchildren here, I admire the patients they have with the children. My younger grandson looks up to Sifu, with such respect and admiration .Everyone here is so caring, I enjoy coming here myself, just for the serene feeling, I get when Im here.

Fantastic training for kids.......Ok, my 10yo daughter has been coming for over 2 years and my 3yo daughter for over a year and a half now. The training is fantastic. They gauge the instruction on the age of the child so they can learn at their own pace. The girls go twice a week and are always looking forward to it. The primary reason I came to this specific martial arts school was none other than the instructor Sifu Mike Evans. Many years back we first crossed paths. I was just a kid and I believe he was Lao Chi...But more importantly he was my elder brothers teacher. I was there for a sash (my brothers moving up) ceremony during which by concentrating his (chi or ki force) the instructor demonstrated (what Im going to call) an iron body technique. At which point he preceded to take a (live blade) spear, wedge it between the floor and his abdominal region(blade toward himself) and shatter the spear in pieces by forcing himself upon it...all I heard was what sound like a tremendous whip crack as the whole room gasps from fear of him being skewered like a man-kebab. Needless to say Im still here...but that is not only because of his greatness but also because of the various diverse bonds that I share with my comrades gained through hard word and dedication to a common interest. But dont take it from me...cmon down, it might just change your life.

Its a real pleasure to train at Four Gates under Sifu Mike Evans. Sifu Mike puts his knowledge, skill, and motivation on display in every class he teaches. Classes feature a mix of traditional Chinese martial arts (primarily Northern Shaolin), training the body, and preparing for real-world self-defense situations. Theres great respect among members at all levels and a real sense of family at the school. At this place theres a lot of knowledge to be learned, skills to be developed, and fun to be had.

I have been taking my 9 year-old daughter to Kung Fu classes with Sifu Mike at The Four Gates School for over 3 years now, and I am completely satisfied with the results that I have seen in her self-confidence and her overall fitness. She has also made some very good friends with the other students. Its a great place for children and adults to learn self-defense and build self-confidence, form friendships (and get some good exercise!), all under the guidance and patient teachings of Sifu Mike, who encourages his students to strive to do better with each class. Met SiFu Mike Evans about 8 months ago when we both received a award at the Action Martial Arts magazine Convention and Hall of Fame. (The Academy Awards of martial arts event) He is a humble yet very skilled instructor of Chinese Martial Arts. I found him to be very professional and a visionary with a clear plan to serve his community and the future of youth in our country. In the short time I have known Sifu Mike, he has moved to a bigger better location to served his community. A testament to providing excellent programs that meet the needs of his students. While at the MA Super show in Las Vegas NV, to my surprise Sifu Mike was feature on one of the videos shown at the opening ceremony. Full disclosure: I am a black sash in this system and have been both friends, as well as a student, with Sifu Mike for over 10 years.My own history of martial arts experience began in NYC where I had trained in Horangi tae kwon do for several years. when we bought a home on Long Island, I went looking for a school to continue my training. Eventually, I came across a school teaching Chinese martial arts under the guidance of Sijo Moises Arocho. At the time I had no idea of the change in my life that was to come.When I first began learning Fa Men Chuan and Lohan Chuan, I was eager to put my training in tae kwon do to the test. With all due respect to my teachers in tae kwon do, after a week of training I had come to the conclusion that I had entered into a entirely different martial arts world. It was equivalent to graduating high school and entering into a senior college. The PT, the forms, the philosophy had all jumped to a higher level. Every class presented me with physical,and mental challenges. The encouragement, and participation, by the instructors were inspiring and dedicated. The subtleties of each form, both open hand and weapons, were both complex and simple. The common sense approach to physical attack is a thing of beauty and efficiency. The emphasis on defense, being humble and clear headed, to do what must be done to avoid conflict without losing ones sense of honor. The acknowledgement of character as being a vital part of ones martial arts career, along with intelligence, manners, discipline, and love, were, no, are part of the lessons in this school.I no longer practice as much and, instead, use my training in my massage practice. To me, helping accident victims recover and feel better is my kung fu now, but I am here because of my training, my teachers, and the confidence instilled by this art.Sifu Michael has continued our tradition in the fullest sense of the word. He is a natural teacher and a big kid who has a way with youngsters.As a parent, sifu understands the angst that parents go through when their child comes home with stories of bullying. Or when their grades suffer, or when they seem to be listless, withdrawn because the video game is not enough, the TV is empty, boredom.At the Four Gates School Of Chinese Martial Arts, these problems are met and dealt with with humor, hard work, discipline and camaraderie. The end goal to all of it is a well rounded person. A person who will not be intimidated by the shallow bullying of misguided people, or their empty threats and posturings. Who knows that training the mind is as important as training the body, and that ones mind is his/her greatest weapon. Who sees that the way of violence is an empty path leading to an unfulfilled life and that virtue is not found in words, but deeds.I cannot recommend this school hard enough.
