I stayed for an event, liked it so much I went back the next week to escape home remodeling noise/dust. Rooms are spacious, generally quiet (but that will depend on the location/neighbors). Furniture is comfortable, modern, clean. Large bathroom with all amenities and high quality towels, high-end shower fixtures in sparkling clean glass enclosure. Comfy robes. Fast internet connection. Professional, friendly front desk service. Signature Heavenly bed with pristine white duvet covers. One of my favorite things-several kinds of pillows. Very good food menu with extended room service hours. Mini fridge. Everything is there. No reason to leave the room. I recommend parking in the underground garage (first time I didnt know about it and parked outside, in the rain). I hate paying for parking, but wouldnt feel safe leaving car on a street. The restaurant food was very good twice and not good once. The clams at Soleil are fabulous. The skirt steak app was perfect the first time, but gristly the second (wasnt charged). Service overall is excellent. I will go back frequently during construction. The sound of silence, the absence of dust. A terrific shower. Heavenly.

Westin hotels are my favorite. I adore the White Tea fragrance and it instantly puts my mind at ease. The beds are comfortable and I enjoyed the lavender balm. The desk is also perfectly suited for business. There is a built in power strip on the front of the desk that includes international options and a power hub next to the bed as well. As someone who travels often for business, I appreciate how easy the Westin makes everything. I’ve had to move furniture and pack my own power strip on past trips, which is why I always choose a Westin when I can. Can’t wait to come back!

We had some requirements for our stay that limited our hotel selection. We needed a separate bedroom and to bring our dog. I assumed that we would just have to take whatever we could find, booking just hours before we checked in. We were surprised that the hotel we picked was as amazing as it was, the hospitality that we experienced was something I would expect at a 5 star resort, not a hotel. We were very impressed with every experience we had there, from the staff, to the hot tub, to the room service. Highly recommended

This hotel is probably one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in and I loved everything about it. From the time you enter the welcoming and beautfully set out reception area you know you are going to enjoy this experience. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. The room was very spacious and I loved how clean everything was. The bathroom was fabulous with a bath and a shower - and whilst it had a rain shower which I personally dont like unless Im washing my hair, it also had an alternate shower which I appreciated. It had very good quality toiletries and I liked the magnifying mirror in the bathroom, it had an iron and ironing board which I appreciated as I had a morning meeting to attend and could iron my clothes, the coffee machine was great for an early morning coffee, the bed was extremely comfortable and they even provided some lavender sleep drops beside the bed which I thought was so lovely and thoughtful, magazines were placed on the coffee table and the internet was efficient. I really loved this hotel - they even had a bowl of fruit in the lobby to grab an apple on the way out. They think of everything to make your stay just that extra special.

I had two stays in March here.A perfect SPG/Westin experience from start to beginning.Very friendly front desk staff at any time of the day.Excellent SPG Platinum recognition, I could basically chose my room (opted for Jacuzzi suite & Tower suite). You might end up walking a bit if you get a tower suite as some of the rooms are rather far away from the elevators. We got lost a few times at the beginning.I also had two BRGs for the stays, both were retrospectively applied since it didnt work during check-out. Again, perfect customer support. The breakfast is really great (perfect omelettes!). I did not try the SPG Platinum continental breakfast, as I had booked breakfast with the rate. Worth it! Be aware that lattes & cappuccinos cost extra which is not waived even for Platinum members here.Small pool was nice to cool off once it finally got sunny.Parking fees for self-parking in the garage are acceptable.Perfect hotel to get to Stanford and surrounding companies. Will definitely be back!

This hotel was terrific. The staff is friendly and helpful and will ensure your stay is comfortable and more. The property is very well located between downtown Palo Alto and Stanford university. The restaurant serves a fine breakfast buffet that is not cheap like what you get at other express hotels. The bar in the lobby is convenient and they make any and all cocktails that you care for. We stayed at the hotel because of a wedding and the staff helped us with materials that were required for some wedding flower preparation. This was not expected or required, but they took care of us anyway. Whether you are staying for business or pleasure, this is a place worth every penny.

It was like pulling teeth to get information about hotel amenities from the front desk. I had to specifically ask about the hotel pool, restaurant, lounge, etc. Our suite smelled like cleaner. The glassware in the bathroom had been cleaned with bathroom cleanser and smelled awful! It was unusable. I though only low rate motels pulled stunts like that. It was disgusting. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was extremely good. Dinner on the other hand was hit and miss. My salmon was overcooked, but my husbands steak was good. We went to the lounge to have a drink and the bartender left for probably 15 minutes! We were unable to get drink refills in a timely manner. Im just not sure that I will stay at this hotel again, other than it is in close proximity to Stanford hospital.

What if you asked us where in the hotel we would like to have our room? (Definitely not on the 4th floor all in the back, 466 and later 464). What if you took care of more closets to put our stuff? What if we were recognized staying in your hotel for so many nights last months? What if the beds were made up really well (with care)? What if your staff really enjoyed being hospital and kind, not just at the reception? You would get so much joy and so many smiles in return from your guests, looking for a home while being away from it!

Nice hotel in Palo Alto. It’s on El Camino Real and right next to the Sheraton. This place can get really expensive ($1000+ per night) during the week so book way ahead. The building is in pink color so kinda cool. The room I got was a weird big large room with a tv wall in the middle to divide the bed and the living area. Feels a bit outdated to be honest. I think this place can be a nice weekend stay. During the week it’s a bit stretch to fork out that much money for an ok experience.

My primary reason for recommending this hotel is the location— super convenient to Stanford. I was disappointed. I am a platinum member - yet simple conveniences were not made available. Room was not ready for early check-in even though requested in advance. Requested a room that was convenient to lobby/elevator. Instead I was positioned on the far side of the hotel. Front desk staff was friendly - but failed to offer appropriate acknowledgemwnts/services. My daughters and I got stuck in the elevator. The buffet breakfast was nice, however, the bar staff on the lobby were rude to non-existent.

Unexpectedly nice rooms; a bit sterile but very sharp and polished.Palo Alto hotels are a mixed bag. The luxury chain leaves you stranded by the highway, so this Westin is a reasonable balance. Downtown is a short walk away, lots of great bars are restaurants, though you’ll depend on this since the hotels ammenities are pretty dead. The pool and hot tub are great, but even though directly adjacent to the bar, the service was staggeringly bad (order and wait ~30m). I get this isn’t Palm Springs, but mixing drinks in my room was a matter of simplicity, not frugality.

It feels like coming ‘home’ after a long trip away.My room was beautiful, as always. Thank you to those who made it a special place to come to each night.Noticed the changes in the gym, business center and hallways. On my last visit (May 2012) they were just finishing the laying of the new carpet and had finished the wall paper in the hallways.Breakfasts were wonderful in Soleil, I can get Starbucks Coffee anywhere at home, but it never tastes as good as it does here. Normally I am a ‘coffee only’ for breakfast person, but when I am here, I always manage to enjoy and eat breakfast. Was able to enjoy two Brunch Buffets – not to be missed. Having a light supper in the Luna Lounge was a perfect end to a day.Saying ‘nightie-night’ is always hard, however, I can look forward to returning in May 2013.With appreciation and affection.

The property at the Palo Alto Westin was nice and appeared clean. The pool area was VERY small and only could accommodate a small number of guests. My biggest complaint is one where I think a lot of hotels simply have lost focus over the years. With this location being in an Eco-friendly area such as the Palo Alto/San Francisco it doesnt help much and I dont think a change will be made. I am talking about water pressure in a shower. The shower has two heads, has a nice write up about how they turned one shower head off to conserve water and yet when you turn it on......trickle water. I mean the sink had more water pressure and more water flowing out of it than the shower. It came out but, it was pretty pathetic. When you turn on the second of the heavenly shower heads, the same trickle. It was so hard to wash soap off of my body that I was in the shower for at least 30-45 min vs the 10 minutes I am normally in. I could pour water above my head harder and with more water than this shower. The funny part is that hotels in general will always say that it was a fluke, but its not. Hotels have just lost their focus on showers that make you feel good to be in. For the amount people pay a night and it being a Westin, this is something that should never be something a guest should even have to worry about. The staff was very nice, informative and helpful with providing info about the area and the best ways to get around. They were great. The room itself was nice, with some very minor issues with cabinet doors not sliding back for TV viewing and the difficulty of opening the fridge in the tiny space it was given.

I was attending a 45th GSB reunion at Stanford and picked the Westin because it was about the closest nice place to the campus. The room was very nice, with lots of room and closet space, and a big bathroom. I did have two issues: (1) unlike most Americans (Im French) I take a bath every night. The bathtub in this hotel, as in most hotels, is really just a footbath. Its very hard to get in and out of at my age, and its not comfortable. There is a separate shower, which is very nice for waking up. But I use a bath to put me to sleep. (2) I was surprised at the tiny bar, which had few top shelf options, and so I didnt buy anything. Aside from that, I found the hotel really quite nice. And its close to the Town & Country shopping center, still there and enlarged after all these years, so if you want a nice French pastry and café au lait, its a short walk.

My experience at the Westin Palo Alto has prompted me to write my first review. From the moment I arrived, I experienced engaged, thoughtful and courteous desk staff.Much to my delight, my room was on the first floor with a door to the beautiful and well-appointed patio. The room was spotless, and when I had trouble with the television...the maintenance man was there within minutes. He was efficient and very professional.Exhausted from travel and a very busy and challenging week of work, I opted to try room service. Much to my surprise, not only was the food exquisite, but the service was excellent. In fact, the service and food were so good, that I opted to eat my meals in during my stay. It allowed me to relax and catch up on some work in the comfort of my room. When I was ready to leave for the conference, I asked the desk to call a cab for me. The doorman sprinted to the street to wave down a cab...I thought that was pretty amazing!Yes, it was a bit expensive for me, but I felt like I received great value for every dollar spent. I left the Westin Palo Alto feeling rested, refreshed and pampered.A special thanks to the Manager and his extraordinary team.Sincerely,A very satisfied Westin Palo Alto Guest

The rooms were recently updated and so have a fresh, clean feel and the beds are super comfortable. But the designer missed the mark on several areas. First, once again, a hotel has chosen the most uncomfortable, low sofa... for older people, Im sure theyd be hard to get out of. And instead of using leather, which is easy to clean, long-wearing and breathable, they chose a scratchy flat weave. And the actual sleeper isnt comfortable. Why dont hotels buy La-Z-Boy sleepers with Memory Foam mattress which are AMAZING and actually allow guests to sleep well on them? Plus, the designer chose heavy bunching tables... which the stone top is an great choice, the fact these dont have casters make them difficult for housekeeping to move. There is an oddly-placed outlet installed on the wall just under the large mirror so that the mirror has to be hung too high; the floor lamp shade is already damaged (why not use a metal or rectangular-shaded floor lamp that doesnt bump into the wall?); the bathroom is once again used in the ubiquitous slippery marble (makes no sense to me from a liability standard...much better to use travertine which absorbs moisture and doesnt get slippery when wet); and it was hard to find the switches for the wall-mounted lamps. Finally there were two cellphone plugs incorporated into the nightstand... just not for the IPhone 5 or Samsung Android (?) whicih are the most common phones. As for the staff, it is outstanding...from the doormen to the valet to the front desk to the restaurant. Kudos to the management for hiring and training remarkably positive and helpful people. It is by far the best place to stay in Palo Alto... and tennis pro Serena Williams agrees as she was there all week.

The staff was very nice, and very responsive. There was only one person ahead of us but they jumped behind a computer and helped us right away, this was before they even knew our status which was impressive. The rooms are comfortable, the staff friendly. The Gym is small but has the equipment that you may require through a short stay.

I really like this hotel. It is conveniently located in Palo Alto on El Camino Real, a short walk from University Avenue; Palo Altos main shopping street. The check in process is smooth. They do a good job recognizing their Platinum guests. The place is attractive, clean and well maintained. The staff is very attentive. The rooms are sizable and are clean.

From the minute I arrived the staff of this hotel was completely uncooperative. First, their parking area was full so I had to park illegally by the side door because I couldnt leave my car for 4 minutes while I checked in. The next day I had a dinner meeting and I called Service Express which should really be called Service Excuse. The phone rang for literally 4 minutes without an answer. I was late for my meeting because I had to go down and ask for the car directly. When I called for room service, the person answering the phone was the rudest guy Ive ever had at any of the Westin Hotels Ive stayed at worldwide. When I called to speak to the Manager it was the front desk clerk whos response was: I apologize for the inconvenience. When I asked why the phone rang for 4 minutes, he said: You have to understand we were experience a high volume of calls.Nope. The overall attitude of this ridiculously understaffed hotel was: Sorry, but tough (&(*Y(*Y.Ive been staying at this hotel because I am a guest lecturer at Stanford for the past 16 years. It used to be an excellent hotel. Dont know if its experienced a change of ownership or management. But, trust me, NEVER AGAIN!

This property has an amazing friendly and professional staff. I and my grandchildren were treated very kindly and that experience added to our relaxing stay.Rooms are big and comfortable and I enjoyed the in-room coffee machine.A plus is the Town & Country Mall a few blocks away. Across the street from Stanford University & Museum and a short 5 minute drive to the Stanford Mall.Ill be back when its time to visit family.

This review is for the restaurant only. Good relaxed holiday buffet. Nothing innovative but thats fine. Food is mostly traditional and very consistent. Kind of expensive but this is Palo Alto after all.

Got the king size bed basic room. Love the furniture and how it was layed out. The bathroom had both a shower and a tub. Bed was nice and soft and let in a lot of light from the courtyard too.

I have often stayed at the Westin Palo Alto and have been very satisfied in the past. On this occasion however, the manager decided to remodel the hotel without informing me when I made the reservation or even when I checked in. The night before they ripped all the wallpaper off of the walls, I received a notice slipped under the door. The next morning I suffered a major allergy attack as I walked through corridors filled with thick dust and old dried adhesive. This was not cleaned up all day until I complained that afternoon at the front desk. Nobody had bothered to take the elevator up to check on the workmen and the mess they were making. Overnight I had another huge allergy, coughing, eye watering rest. Then I discovered that they had started ripping up the carpet at 8 am. Totally irresponsible decision-making process. I had to emphasize to the employees that if they had a history of asthma, dont enter the remodeled floors! The hotel will be lucky if no guests with respiratory problems worse than mine, were staying on those floors. My request to be moved was impossible because the hotel was fully booked. A horrible experience- do I really need to ask if the hotel is being remodeled before I book the room? Being an SPG member for over 10 years, I expect better.

Walking distance form several eating places and of course Stanford University. I particularly enjoy the upscale decor as well as separate shower / tub configuration. What sets a hotel apart when all the amenities are equal is the staff and this staff is exemplary. Im a huge fan and grateful to call this my home away from home.

Staff is very attentive and remembers you if you stay here regularly. Every employee treats you kindly and goes out of their way to ensure great service, from check-in to valet, to room service. Continental breakfast was included in the price but waiter came and told me please have buffet and no extra charge so I had a fried egg.

I truly appreciated the extra touches the Westin made - shuttle to ceremony, welcome tote, flexibility with parking and luggage storage. The staff was great !

The rooms were very peaceful and quite. The bathrooms large and luxurious. The staff friendly and welcoming. The Gym was accommodating with variety of equipment and machines. I did not use the spa/hot tub, but it seemed very tiny. Soliel restaurant had excellent food and attentive staff.

After a sports injury, I really needed some R&R time and got it. Everyone I met was super kind and helpful, I could not have asked for me. It was great to meet new people and enjoy time with people I knew. The phrase welcome home meant a lot to me. My room was lovely, the meals wonderful (how I miss breakfast buffet). Despite bad weather, still managed to use the pool and hot tub which went a long way to ease the pain of my injury and help with recovery.. A very early check out was met with no issues which was great. Cant wait, will be back soon...Thank you to everyone... I miss you all.xo - August 1 cant come soon enough.

My first stay at The Westin in Palo Alto. Comfortable, no fuss and efficient. My booking was not updated with my Platinum number but the front desk did the needful and got my upgrade to the suite. A nice old world charm with a charming balcony and sit out for the morning cuppa! Recommend this and would love to be back again.

We were especially impressed with the customer service during our brief stay. At lease three staff members offered me and my family a free bottle of water, which was much appreciated on that hot day. Nazfren at the front counter was a gem. Very sharp, very charismatic, very helpful. She is a shining ambassador for your hotel!

My stay at the Westin Palo Alto wasnt bad, it just wasnt good. The facility is super old and the rooms are not special. Any other location besides across the street from Stanford this place would cost $70 to $120 a night. They did shampoo my room right before I got there, but everything else about this place was just average. This includes the gym, food, the bed, the towels, and even the service. I would stay here again but just expect an average experience.

What the hotel has going for it is their location and customer service. Its walking distance to the Stanford Shopping Center, Downtown Palo Alto, and the Town & Country Center. Their hotel staff are also BEYOND friendly and helpful! The problem is that the rooms are dated and their amenities are super basic (low end toiletries, dated TV interface, tiny gym). The quality is not any different than a standard Marriott anywhere else in the country.

Nothing specifically struck out as being phenomenal, but I dont have 1 bad or critical thing to say.Great all-around experience and awesome location. Right next to Stanfords campus and walking distance to some great bars and restaurants.

This hotel was such a wonderful find for us and our 4-legged dog, Lucy. The hotel assigned us a first floor room which was connected to a private courtyard that was shared with a 3 other rooms. This worked so well for us and Lucy. Best part about this hotel is that they provided doggie bowls and bed and they do not charge a pet-fee!! First rate service for all of us! We cant wait to go back.
