For over 10 years, I have been a fan of Worlds Gym Palm Springs and have become a regular attendee every time Im visiting from LA. Great staff, clean facility, great classes. However on Sunday August 29th between the hours of 10:30 am and noon, my lock and my belongings were stolen from my locker.I returned to the locker room after my work-out to discover that my lock was gone and my gym bag was gone with my wallet, car keys and house keys amongst other items. Jeff who was working the front desk at the time, walked with me while I tried every lock in the locker room, he also called the police for me which led to me filing a police report on line. Grateful for Jeff. However thats where my gratitude ends and my disappointment begins. After calling a couple of times to see if anybody had return my belongings, I decided to come back and speak to the owner Mark. Mark was very casual in saying I think they mentioned something when referring to the theft which had occurred the previous day at his gym. I asked if there was a protocol in place for this sort of incident and he said no, weve never had this happen before I asked if he could review the video tape to see if we could see someone walking out with my bag, he said yes, I can do that now and will get back to you. Ill do it right now. He took my phone number but never got back to me. To this day, September 11th, 2021; no one has called me to update me, at all. Now, I know these things happen and for the most part the gym is not responsible, however, Mark said to me Im sorry this happen to you. A very human sentiment, but it happened in his establishment and there was total lack of recognition that a theft had occurred in his Gyms locker room, and most likely, will happen again. Also, the attendants were very kind, but at no point did anyone, including Mark, even offered me a free day pass, in recognition of the unnecessary ordeal I was going through, that had occurred at their gym. Nothing at all. A free day pass or even a full year membership would not make up for the amount of money this theft has cost me, however, an act of kindness goes a long way. Customer service and word of mouth are essential to the success of any business, and sometimes a small gesture makes a big difference. If you decide to continue attending Worlds Gym, be aware that theft happens. Maybe stay out of the locker room and keep your car keys in your pocket. Save yourself the hassle of being a victim of theft at Worlds Gym Palm Springs.

World Gym is a great and highly motivating gym to work out at when in Palm Springs. Lots of free weights, machines, cardio equipment and outstanding refreshment bar make this a must-go-to place when looking to get your fitness on when in Palm Springs. Been going here for the last four years when on vacation and they treat this Navy Commander outstanding!

Worlds is a fantastic gym with a great selection of free weights and machines. I wish they were open a few more hours in the evenings, especially on the weekend when they currently close at 8pm. Other than that, in over the last 35 years that Ive been working out in gyms, Worlds is one of the better gyms, if not the best, in which Ive had membership.

I think the best gym in Palm Springs for real old school gym people. Old pictures and history fill the facility. Great old school metal dumbbells. If you want a more fluff gym Planet Fitness might be getter for you.

I have been a physical therapy client at Sutter Lakeside, Sutter Warrick, UCSF, and Eisenhower Rimrock. Have never achieved the desired results at any of those locations and the therapists always recommended joining a gym. I have developed my own rehabilitative services program at World Gym using the rehabilitative services knowledge from the four physical therapy programs and am getting better results.

World Gym is the largest and has the most equipment of any of the gyms in Palm Springs. There is a very common or rather easy way to enter by simply swiping a little Bob on your key ring. They have a steam room and dry sauna unfortunately no jacuzzi but none of the other gyms have a Jacuzzi either. The staff is very friendly and willing to help you with whatever needs you might have.

World Gym Palm Springs is a great gym. Spacious and not crowded, unless on specific weekends which I will get to later. The gym equipment has a nice array to get you a specific body workout if the machine you seek is currently being used. Its neither the most advanced equipment or the most recent, however its good. If a machine needs service due to padding, cabling, handles, there can be a wait time before it is fixed. The gym runs hot for me however some of the members are wearing long sleeve hoodies and full length sweats. I would not need to. The mens locker room is ok. It can be full and several men in the locker room who are less accommodating with regard to their belongings, meaning, some will use the entire bench when getting ready. Getting ready for some of the men take lots of time so make getting dressed in and out no nonsense. There is a mens sauna and steam. The music at the gym is not typical to most gyms. You will want to bring your earbuds, unless you like disco and dance. Youll find a most eclectic clothing wear by the men at this gym so be prepared to see gym clothing styles not elsewhere seen. Youll find that the gym is primarily male and 18+. I workout early morning hours so the gym is not too busy. However I have made different time of day trips and it can get busy. Now there are certain yearly events that the city of Palm Springs hosts and getting to the gym seems impossible without any parking. Youll want to plan your gym time accordingly when events occur such as White Party, Pride, and Leather Pride, to name a few. Sometimes three day weekends such as Labor Day and Memorial weekends can be very busy on the holiday weekends, especially in the morning. The staff are very kind and very friendly. There is a juice bar and a small selection of beverages for pre and post gym workouts. There is a small clothing shop which will have both clothing for gym and specific to the genre who workout at that location. The gym is clean, and equipment seems to be clean. The main gym bathrooms are clean. There isnt as much vocal grunting and groaning at this gym in the free weight area as other gyms. There is a large selection of cardio equipment, not the most advanced or newest. There are televisions throughout and the lighting of the gym is bright. There is a yoga type studio where cardio classes run throughout the day. Schedules are posted. There is a wide selection of personal trai ers, one being a former Mr Universe. My experience with gyms in Palm Springs is only World Gym, in LA Golds Gym at Fig and 7th, Powerhouse Gym Colorado and 24 Hour Fitness Colorado. I enjoy and like World Gym Palm Springs in comparison to my own personal history with gyms.

I had a very mixed experience here. The equipment is not well maintained, the locker rooms were dirty and the filters on the water fountains were not replaced. Some staff members were polite and friendly, but one morning I walked in to witness one staff member openly making fun of some patrons. That said, the other gym members were courteous and very friendly. Its very clear that management is aware that they have few competitors and see no need to invest any money in improving the facility.

Equipment is old. In need of maintenance or replacement. They do have a decent variety of equipment but pads on machines are worn and cracked. Machines are often out of service. I have been working out there on/off for 14 years and I don’t remember the last time a new piece of equipment appeared. They do have a decent amount of dumbbells and cardio machines. The men’s locker room needs a total rehab

Variety of equipment but not well maintained. Place and equipment is dirty. They spray down the wet areas but dont do any deep cleaning. Some of the staff are professional and courteous. In the summer months it is very uncomfortable to work out here. Many of the patrons set on equipment and text, some set or lay on equipment for 30 to 45 minutes. You will have to put up with the obnoxious tourist that cant stop looking in the mirror to admire themselves. But if you are focused on just working out and then getting on with your day this place is fine.

I have worked out here for five years. Great equipment and there is plenty of it. The music is great and there is a friendly and mostly all gay clientele. However, as noted in other reviews, the wet area is a bathhouse with aggressive older males trolling for sex who do not work out at the gym. Most guys wont use the wet areas because of the assumption that they are going in there for sex. I have complained to management whose reply was, get used to it. If you are immune compromised using the wet areas is risky. In addition, a couple of the front desk guys (especially the Fri. night staff) who have been there forever are extremely rude and gossipy - thanks to them there are no secrets if you change in the locker room. $42 month to pay without being able to use the locker room is not a good deal. EOS is $10 month with no negative vibe and clean wet areas.

I dropped my $10 EOS membership in favor of $45 membership here and never once regretted it. No children, no teenagers, no perfume, never have to wait on equipment and I can always find parking. The members, staff and trainers are nicer. The ventilation and locker rooms need a serious overhaul, but a small price to pay not to have to deal with the attitude of EOS members and its over crowding.

Old equipment that is never maintained. Their idea of maintenance is fix it 3 weeks or longer after it breaks. Cant even bother to clean cup holders or foot pedals on cardio equipment. Probably only ever get cleaned if a customer does it.

Review №55

Its important to keep in mind the setting: This is Palm Springs, and Palm Springs has a long and storied history of shallow physical vacuousness, cruel standards of beauty, and look-ism. Were fun that way.The pressure to look good is enormous. This is a place where people come to show off their plastic surgeries, work on their tan lines, and have sex -- weve been having sex for years here in Palm Springs, you should try it. But first, go the World Gym and maybe take a cycle class. Im just suggesting. It must be tough to run World Gym in a town filled with oodles of rich people who have their very own full-stocked gymnasiums at home, staffed with personal trainers, dieticians and people paid just to say you look great! over and over -- but that might actually be why World Gym has remained so consistently terrific for all these years. Its always clean; the machines and equipment are always attended to and always work; the classes are full without being cut-throat. Its a well-run machine staff by a group of people who by now have become -- theres no other word for it, Im sorry -- beloved by visitors and locals alike. Its important to know what to expect. If you are visiting Palm Springs, you may not be used to seeing old people who are sexy and can kick your ass; you might be laugh at that 74-year-old guy in the short-shorts until you realize he looks hotter in them than you ever could. Its generally busy from the minute they open until they close, but never so much to annoy or cause a murderous rage -- a good thing, given how many of the members are taking testosterone. There are subtleties to be discerned if you keep your eyes open: Does everyone look like Rachel Maddow? It must be Dinah Shore Weekend. I have a friend who can tell you everything about the current state of gay porn just from observing the Saturday morning Zumba class. There is a core group of trainers who work out of World Gym as independent contractors, not for the gym as employees; each has his or her own training and techniques, but they are all certified, insured and quite busy. It shouldnt need pointing out that any trainer who can swing it in an atmosphere like Palm Springs is already better than 90% of his or her peers found elsewhere: these are people who promise results and deliver. Finally, know that you can be comfortable here if you are older, female, gay, and even -- yes! -- fat. If you are the kind of person who feels inexplicably drawn to the gym when you are on vacation, youll feel welcome. If youve just moved here and need a quick primer on being a local and feeling like you belong, mention my name because I get a free month for referring you. And remember -- keep it shallow, cupcake.
