Jimmy was sure to be personal and was able to make everything my wife and I wanted come true! He put us on the fish, we walked a beautiful beach, and we saw wildlife like dolphins and manatees! Best charter I have ever been on, not only because of the experience, but also the customer service!

Had a beautiful day in the water the last week in June 2021. Captain Jimmy put us on fish from the beginning to the end of the day. My 13 year old caught 10 fish total with 2 snooks coming in over 30 inches. Captain Jimmy took care of my 8 year old son as well and hooked him up with 8 snooks of his own. I am a local of 25 years here in Clearwater and have enjoyed numerous charters in the local waters here in Beautiful Clearwater Beach. I had the pleasure of taking some friends a family that were visiting me from out of town (Minnesota) on a morning fishing charter with Captain Jimmy Hartley. Jimmy was by far one of the friendliest and knowledgeable guides I ever have had the pleasure to fish with. Not only did he take the time to detail some of the history of the area but also took us to the time to truly get to know us on a personal level. By the end of the day he was more like Uncle Jimmy then our Captain. His knowledge of fishing holes proved to be one of his greatest assets. On the first spot we caught 2 enormous Snook back to back. One larger than the next at almost 35 inches... Jimmys patience and guidance during the trip made us feel like big time anglers by the time we were finished. All in all I have to say Jimmy set the bar high for what a charter Captain should be and I couldnt recommend him more. Definitely a charter to remember! I have been fishing Tampa Bay inshore waters for over 30 years and hinted of booking a private charter to my wife. As a Fathers Day gift, my wife and kids chose to book with Captain Jimmy. Knowing how picky I am on certain items, she spent time searching for the best captain to fit the target I was looking for (snook & reds). This was a tough time being many charters were out for tarpon tourneys and private trips. After speaking with Jimmy, she was comfortable.He let us choose where to launch from, which we chose Sutherland Boar Ramp in Palm Harbor, as well as the area I would like to hit. He would not stay at any spot too long if there wasn’t a good, active bite happening. We hit a total of maybe 6-7 spots and ended up with a Grand Slam + a ‘cuda! Overall, we landed a couple dozen fish, mostly snook which is exactly what I asked for. One of my sons who doesn’t like fishing or boats hooked up with a couple snook and ended up having a great time after all. This alone would make the trip worth every penny! A few times if he hooked up, he would hand the rod to my kids or wife if they weren’t getting hits.The boat was clean and well kept, his driving was smooth. Captain had a great personality, extremely friendly, and very informative and knowledgeable. We used live bait which he provided as well as bottled water. We were permitted to bring other beverages if desired. We will without question book again in the future. Thanks Captain!

On a recent visit to Clearwater, we decided to book a half-day private trip with Captain Jimmy for our family of four (including two boys, ages 11 and 14). He came highly recommended by our hotel concierge. In spite of less-than-perfect weather (chilly air/water temps combined with intermittent rain showers), we had the best day! We easily caught 20+ fish including two baby bonnet sharks, sheepshead, flounder, pufferfish, and spotted trout. In addition, we got to see a porpoise swimming during our adventure. Captain Jimmy was very patient and informative. Yes, a private charter costs more than a ticket on a group outing, but the personal attention you receive is well worth the extra money. A memorable and very fun day – highly recommend!

First class trip! Jimmy was awesome to fish with. Great knowledge of the area and what bait best to use. He worked hard catching bait before he picked me up. It sure paid off!! My son has been obsessed with watching fishing videos on YouTube for months now, ever since we mentioned going deep see fishing and started searching for videos to show him what it was all about. So, we decided to take a half day inshore charter to get his feet wet. We had an absolute blast with Captain Jimmy and can’t wait to get back out there again! He knew exactly where to put us to keep the action going! My son is still talking about it days later and asking when we can go again! It’s hard to keep a 4 year olds attention but he was so great with our son from getting him on a fish and helping him real it in or letting him play with the bait. It was overall a great charter!

It was my first time taking a fishing charter and I couldnt be more pleased. The weather was a little cold but Captain Jimmy made it worth our while by taking us to great spots up and down the coast and when we found where the Jack were biting he let us stay there extra time. He was so generous and helpful and I had an amazing experience. We saw dolphin and fished near about 15 manatee! Afterward, he cleaned the fish for us into filets to take home. I have fished with a lot of very good captains, and CPT Jimmy is just about the best. Yesterday was a perfect day on the water. We took our daughter and son-in-law out for their Christmas present and had the best time. Our rods stayed bent the entire time. Beyond this is the service aspect: CPT Jimmy is a true professional, but also friendly and courteous to a fault. I highly recommend fishing with him and I will definitely do so myself again!

First of all captain jimmy was awesome put us on fish all day long. We caught fish all day of good size. 4 of them were MONSTERS!!!! A red 38 inches, 2 snook 29+ and one snook about 27. Overall fantastic trip had water on boat for us and knew what he was doing. Highly recommend salty water fishing charters for anyone looking to be put on fish and have a great time.
