Many times, over the course of several years, I realized I needed to follow a healthy lifestyle, but I sure didn’t want to go to a gym! What was this lazy 50 year old advertising agency guy going to do? I was never an athlete growing up and I can tell you that I have never set foot inside of an LA Fitness. I tried out various in-home fitness programs and saw some results, but it became boring for me, I quickly lost interest and there was a complete absence of motivation and challenge. Although I was always eating healthy, I knew I needed to find some kind of fitness program in order for my diet to be worth the effort. I needed something more, but what?Oh, how lucky I was that there was someone in my life who cared enough to give me one of the greatest gifts I could ever hope for: an introduction into the world of martial arts. My friend brought me to a different school that I enjoyed, but it didnt feel quite right. After spending almost two years at this other school, I feel I was naturally led to the School of Oom Yung Doe in Oviedo for more proper and advanced training and focus. Our school teaches the principles of 8 martial arts combined and taught as one - it is brilliant! We learn the principles of Kung Fu, Bagwa, Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, Jujitsu, Tai Chi and all the classic martial arts weapons are available to learn. I instantly felt comfortable that this was the correct path for me. The increase in my strength, coordination, flexibility and even my confidence is unbelievable. One of my favorite parts of the school is the amazing students I have met and the quality, dedication and a sincere sense of caring from the Instructors. The leader of our school, National Instructor Rich, has been practicing for almost 40 years and teaches classes every week. There are also two Head Instructors who consistently provide some of the most rewarding and challenging lessons available. The Instructors truly make this school one of the finest martial arts school in the country. And if that’s not already amazing, we have regular visits from International Instructors and Masters who provide specialized training throughout the year. You could not ask for a more talented, experienced and honorable group.During my journey I quickly noticed improvements at work in the form of my focus, energy level, problem solving abilities, attitude and patience. My boss has commented to me numerous times that I am “on fire”. My clients benefit from my increased level of creativity and leadership, and see their business goals being clearly defined and hit on a regular basis. I am excited to see how I progress further through my training.Over and over again I found myself applying principles from class into my personal life; not just saying them, but incorporating them into my life. Through my training at Oom Yung Doe I have learned about what’s truly important in life and how to become a better man… a better citizen… a better human being. It’s more that just sweating, it’s about following the correct path in life and making a difference for those important people in your life. And the most beautiful part of all of this is that I have just scratched the surface. But, how lucky am I to have received this gift of learning traditional moo doe from some of the most amazing people in the country.Every day I realize how much I am benefiting my mind, body and spirt. I envision myself practicing traditional moo doe for the rest of my life... an endless supply of positive energy and movements added to my life. A group of people that I am proud to be associated with and who I am proud to serve, learn from and become more like them. I have barely started learning all there is to learn at Oom Yung Doe. Please check back in a year or so and Ill update you on my journey! In the meantime I hope to see you in class - adults, teens and kids always welcomed!

Traditional Asian martial arts well taught by excellent instructors. Age is no barrier as I began my training at the age of 78 in summer of 2011, and improved my health and actually gained strength and agility. Enough to earn a black belt rating and this year earned a Bronze award at the regional tournament.

Real martial arts, not glorified babysitting. My 8 year old shy beginner came out of his shell the first day. Very pleased with all the instructors. Their patience and willingness to teach children firmly but gently keeps my son coming back.UPDATE: My younger son is 5 and has also joined. Still the best deal in town to foster confidence and discipline in a rambunctious child!

A little over 13 years ago I was a student of Tai Kwon Doe in Massachusetts. A Yoga Instructor for 18 years and always had a passion for the Martial Arts. When I moved to Florida approximately 3 years ago I decided to pursue my martial arts passion. As I shopped around in my area I was disappointed in the commercialism and the pressure of long term contracts. The school of Oom Yung Doe Grandmaster “Iron” Kim Style has and is a Blessing. Not only am I and All exposed to just one style of Martial Arts, I love that there are 8 traditional Martial Arts styles and 18 Chinese and Korean style weapons that are taught regardless of your age and current physical condition. The forms are taught and adjusted according to ones own body type. The school is amazing, with a National Head Instructor, an Assistant Regional Head Instructor and all that make up the school are sincerely kind and family orientated. The practice not only transformed my physical condition at the age of 51, I am 30 all over again.Oom Yung Doe Grandmaster “Iron” Kim Style has and continues to totally enhance my life. Grateful, Thank - You !

The school is amazing and we are very pleased with the results we have seen since our two children (ages 9 &6) enrolled 3 months ago.We initially tried enrolling them into a different school, but my children were adamant in not wanting to attend that school after one class. My husband wanted us to check out this school and I am so glad we did.We wanted our kids to be in martial arts primarily because my daughter (age 9), who is very sensitive, was being bullied in school and we wanted to build up her self confidence. We have seen a marked improvement in both of our kids’ confidence, strength, and agility. The school teaches kids to have control and discipline. It is quite amazing to see the kids performing the different techniques. I also want to mention that the school teaches many different types of martial arts (self defense, jumps, Udo, Kata, Tai Chi, etc) so the kids don’t get bored. My daughter has told me that this school has been “life changing” for her because it helps her release stress. Also, my husband told me that most martial arts schools require you to sign long term contracts but this school does not.I have spoken with several of the moms in the class, whose children have been with the school much longer than ours, and they feel the same way as we do. The school is like a family. The instructors (there are several) are very dedicated and knowledgeable. The only thing I wish they had, is an early morning class. I, personally, would join a class if I could do this in the mornings, while the kids are in school. I attended a free self defense class offered by the school and learned so much within a short period of time.If you are reading my review then you owe it to yourself/family to give this school a try. You have nothing to lose and a whole lot to gain.

This is a truly his school is unique martial arts school! I had been training at another highly regarded martial arts school for many years before I found Oom Yung Doe. I soon realized that I had only begun to scratch the surface of what martial arts can do for you. The training at this school is unparalleled! This is NOT the martial arts light taught at typical martial arts schools. Here 8 martial arts are taught as one; Kong Su/Tae Kwon Do, Akido/Hapkido, Udo/jujitsu, Kon Do/Samurai Sword, Bagua Chung, Goong Bu/Kung Fu, Ship Pal Gae/18 weapons. The instructors here give you deep insight into how to do the forms, how they will benefit you and change your mind and body. Within six months of training here, I was off all pain medication and my concentration and focus was better that it had been in years. Dont believe that getting older means you must live with aches and pains. You can change your condition and improve beyond your years. At Oom Yung Doe you will receive personalized instruction in every class. Its a fun atmosphere balanced with tough but respectful guidance.

I started martial arts with Tae kwon do at the age of 9 in Winter Park with my brother. It was great but we moved so I only got to stay for a little bit. Later on in around 2009 I started martial arts again doing Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu. I saw the Oom Yung Doe school and wanted to continue martial arts to move up in rank and it was a very good choice... After a year of classes I saw a vast improvement in my studies in martial arts. Much happiness and productivity were incorporated into my life because the dojang brought me much knowledge and training in weaponry and exercise, forms, and disciplines. Id like to thank all the teachers for their patience, putting up with me while I was going through tough times. Oom Yung Doe has helped me get through a lot. Mind over Matter.
