Bottom line: as a new patient, I highly recommend. I hadn’t been to the dentist in 2+ years and there was no judgment.Pros: Conveniently located off of I-435, I was able to fill out all paperwork online before the appointment, I could request an appointment online and schedule one via email or phone, several appointment reminders (Outlook calendar, phone call, and text), I got in two weeks after my request, I felt welcome and there was no judgment even though I hadn’t been to a dentist in 2+ years. The staff members were all amazing and the overall atmosphere was just great. They’re located in a larger medical building so I just recommend getting there a little early to find it. My dental hygienist was Paige and I highly recommend requesting her.

On time appointment. Dr. Altomare finely crafted my new filling and I cant tell they worked on my tooth. The local anesthetics worked beautifully, no pain whatsoever.

Excellent staff, very thorough explanation of necessary treatments and cost of treatments that is not covered by insurance. My wife & I found Blue Stem by doing some research. I had my first appointment today (which I was late to) and Barbie was designated as my hygienist. Theres always some trepidations in finding new dental care when you move. Barbie was extremely kind and immediately made me feel right at home. She realized how serious I take my dental care and she really made me feel at ease that I was in good hands and she had my best interest at heart. I would give her 10 stars if it was an option. If youre new to town and need a new home for dental care I would encourage anyone to give the staff at Blue Stem a look. My wife and I walked out of there feeling like wed been with them for years. I booked an emergency appointment at 7 am. I was squeezed in for a 8:30 am appt. My issue was my wisdom tooth was giving me a hard time but the doctor, the hygienist everyone were so helpful that they extracted it even though they were fully packed so that I would not have difficulty later.Amazing and caring people. 😊

I have Trigeminal neuropathic facial pain. Their care and concern helps me during my dental visits. They take their time and make sure each step is explained to ensure a great turn out. Could thank them enough!

1st time, what a wonderful experience. Paige my dental hygienist was great! Everyone was very nice and happy. Nice office and timely. Dr. Dalquist was very personable. My only thing that was unpleasant was all the paperwork. I had spent 25 min at home before my appointment completing and sending back to the office via patient portal. They said they didnt receive all of it. So I spent another 15 min in the office filling out paperwork. I know insurance companies need a lot of information but I bet I wrote my address 10 times. Should be a way to consolidate paperwork. That being said I will be returning their office.

Excellent service they explain in detail what I need to get done and gave me the heads up of what I’ll be paying for future treatment so I know what to expect.

Barbie is a fantastic dental hygienist! She was very personable, knowledgeable, and skilled in her profession. This is the first time in years that I didnt leave the dentist in pain and needing a blood transfusion. The doctor/dentist was great as well! I am actually looking forward to going back to BlueStem Dental later this year!

I had come in for an emergency dental consultation with severe pain that had kept me up for two nights straight. My previous dentist had found nothing, and I was left to endure the pain for another two days before I could see an endodontist for a consultation. I had gone to BlueStem after the reviews I saw and even speaking to the front desk (I forgot the lady’s name!) was extremely nice and understanding. They got me in same day, and the moment I had stepped into the office I felt welcomed and treated professionally. They were immediately able to tell me what was wrong after a quick look ( easy x-ray, despite the throbbing pain I had ), how this pain had gotten there, and explained what the next steps would be. They followed up by prescribing me amoxicillin to help with the infection. Several hours later and I already feel a lot better about my situation and the pain has even subsided to be bearable. I actually was able to sleep!I am beyond amazed with the friendliness and professional and I am definitely looking forward to working with them again. I recommend BlueStem to anyone who needs dental care!!

BlueStem Dental office is the best. I have for many years followed Dr. Haake and his office Staff to different locations. He has always stood by his work! I have had several bridge work done and lots of other work. I needed one of my bridges redone but I knew I couldnt afford to get it done. Dr. Haake took care of the problem and there was no charge because he knew I needed it done. His office staff are the best, always so pleasant. Wow! That was quite an experience. Not only is the quality great, but the way that everything is clearly explained is also awesome. My right to choose what services I wanted was respected and communications were straightforward. On top of that, they have folks who understand my insurance better than my wife, and thats saying something.Im so glad I found BlueStem.UPDATEDI dont recommend waiting until your late sixties to have your wisdom teeth removed, but if you find yourself in need I cant say enough good things about the service I received. I dont know how Ryan Dahlquist did it, but Ive had virtually no pain and my recovery has been a breeze. I highly recommend him if you need dental surgery.

I’ve had such a great experience here. As someone who had dental anxiety to the point I put off going for years I can not recommend them enough. The girls at the desk are always friendly, on top of scheduling and helpful in accurately explaining treatment costs and benefits questions. Anna has been my hygienist my past 3 visits. She does a fantastic job and has an easygoing chair side manner that eases my anxiety instantly. Dr. Kortje is equally personable, works very quickly and was able to fix my tooth pain without an expensive, painful root canal the same day I came in. Thank you for taking such great care of me and my teeth :-)

Paige has been my Dental Hygienist for 2 years. As a now retired physician who did and taught procedures, I can tell when someone is giving their best efforts and is thorough. And With Paige as my hygienist, I have no doubt ( I’m not a flosser- so I know I’m some work). While Dr Haake has not yet done procedures on me, compared to some dentists he seems to be doing a very thorough exam . And, Both are VERY pleasant and professional, as are all in Blue Stem office that I’ve met. Highly recommended

My first visit to BleuStem and I was very happy with the visit and the experience. Barb did a great job on cleaning and X-rays, and Dr. Altomare was great. Pretty impressive for a 7:00 AM appointment; their team was ready to go and fixed up for the day.

I always have a very pleasant experience because the office employees are all very professional and caring people. They seem to listen carefully to any concerns and make sure all concerns are addressed.A few months ago I had four teeth pulled out with only anesthesia. I was so afraid that I would pass out from the pain and stress. The dentist and the assistant convinced me I would be fine. To my surprise, I did well through it all.The dentist are thorough and quick with their work. The dentists seem to be good at explaining your dental conditions and what options are available for you.The office is always very clean. In the day of Covid-19, every patient is screened for Covid-19 symptoms, and everyone in the office is required to wears masks. They seem to take your health and the health of their employees as a very serious priority.The Overland Park office is a very welcoming office. The receptionist (I wish I could remember her name) is very exceptional at customer care.

Stephen Haake was my dentist and he caused me so much pain that I wouldnt ever come back to this horrible place.

All employees at Blue Stem dental are polite, friendly, and make you feel at home. I went in to replace a filling and I was in and out within 30 minutes, I had no discomfort and Dr. Haake explained each step of the process so I felt comfortable and understood what was happening. I never enjoyed going to the dentist until I started visiting this office. They really are wonderful! If youre looking for a new dentist, I strongly recommend Dr. Haake and his team!

She even let me kick off my shoes and get some pilates in to take my mind off my pesky gag reflex.Ask Dr. Haake about his great grandfather working on KC WPA projects with Boss Tom Pendergast.Dr. Haake, himself, however is as honest as the day is long. Even met me all by our lonesomes on Christmas Eve last year to fix my new crown.

I’m not a Dr/Dentist fan. But something happen and I had to go. Not having been in YEARS I Googled and found Bluestem. Emailed asked if they took Atena Insurance(they do). Two days later I went in and was greeted and treated like I’ve been going there for years. I told them then and there that they will be my Dentist and I will stay on schedule with check ups. 😁🦷🪥

There are many competent dentists in Kansas City, but Dr. Altomare stands out because of her excellent bedside manner. She is kind, compassionate, and reassuring. I highly recommend her, especially to anyone with anxiety surrounding going to the dentist. I cant imagine going to anyone else!
