I brought in a recently acquired late 60s/early 70s turntable that needed refurbished. The team there did a fantastic job cleaning it up. A few days after picking it up I had to return it because I thought something was broken (ended up being operator error). Brandon answered my questions on how some of the mechanisms work. He even took the time to make some fine-tuning adjustments to the tonearm and spliced the ground wire- no extra charge. Very nice guy and patient with my dumb questions!Be aware: Dont be in a hurry to get your stuff repaired. I was quoted a turnaround time of six weeks and it ended up being seven, but it was worth it to get that level of service. I initially thought the price for the repairs was a little high, however theyre fixing outdated a/v equipment so special parts have to be ordered and they take their time getting the work right so it ended up being worth it for the piece of mind. Recommended!

Their techs replaced the rotted foam in my dads JBL speakers from 1985. They inspected and soldered the crossovers, too. Great job. They were backed up and took a month to get to it, but that didnt cost them a star.

Not the best customer surface experience. They are very busy and turned me away, which is fine. But did so in a profoundly unprofessional manner, very rude. Have done good work for me in the past, but I will not patronize or refer them again on principal. I just cant get past rudeness there is simply no place for it. :(

I am totally satisfied with the service that I received from the Gentlemen at Electronic Center. They fixed my 16 track recorder in good time. They gave me helpful hints on how to take care of the machine in the future. I have since taken another recording machine to them and know that I will get the same great service that I already received. I would them give more than 5 stars if I could.

Excellent work. Well worth the price. Brandon did a great job on my Dual 1216 turntable that hadn’t worked in 15 years. I had to bring it back for an intermittent issue which he found and promptly repaired. Though I am not local, they are worth the drive. Highly recommended.

I just completed a deal with Stan Sciban and the great team at Electronic Center. This is the only business you need to know of to handle any audio needs. They made a deal for me that was fantastic and I now have a system of great value and superlative sound, all for a completely reasonable price. Stan is a pleasure with whom to work. He not only knows his stuff- is there anyone better in the M?- he treats you with respect, patients and clarity. I love these guys and give them my highest possible recommendation!

My 80s Apt Holman preamplifier quit working and I took it to the Electronic Center for repair. They did a great job repairing my unit. In addition to replacing the transistor and caps that had blown, they thoroughly went through all the circuitry, switches and pots and corrected any problems found. The preamp sounds and works like new. I highly recommend this business.

I own a Denon DP61F turntable purchased new in 1985. Recently, I began having problems with this unit. Calling around, I quickly became convinced the turntable could not be repaired and would have to be scrapped. Fortunately for me, I found the Electronic Center and called them. They told me that it was likely they could repair the turntable. I sent them the turntable and to my surprise they called me to tell me the turntable could be repaired at a very reasonable price. Some time later, I received the turntable back and was amazed at how well the turntable works now. In addition, there was not a mark or scuff on the turntable caused by the repair, which tells me these guys really care about vintage audio equipment. I would recommend anyone that needs repair to a vintage piece of audio equipment (yes, they work on reel to reels and quad equipment too), to contact these guys!

I went to this shop this morning. I had a TV that needed speakers installed. I didnt had the tool to get the back off the TV as I dont have many tools. I figured if I stopped in an electronics store they would have the tool and I could get the job done. I drove several miles out of my way to go to a shop in downtown Overland Park, someplace I figured would have friendly staff. I was wrong! The employee told me that it was a standard tool and told me to go to the hardware store to buy one. I stopped in this store with the intent to fix my TV, and see if I could find a speaker box. How hard would it have been for this employee to allow me to use the tool to get the back off my TV? Apparently it would take up too much of their time and put too much wear and tear on their tool. Thanks a lot for nothing this morning. I will never be returning to your shop.

STAN IS THE MAN.I have an extremely rare Stereo Receiver that needed repair. It is a top of the line Panasonic Sa-4000 from 1970 with motorized tuning. The motorized Tuning wouldnt work so I contacted a bunch of high end audio repair houses in the NYC area. None of them heard of this unit and they wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole. So I started going up and down the east coast looking for someone who could repair it, and had absolutely no luck . Places that advertised Vintage Japanese specialty didnt want it.Finally I contacted to the electronic center in Kansas City, and spoke to Stan. Stan never heard of this unit either but he did know how the motorized Tuning would work., so I decided to give him a shot. What else did I have to lose. Well I just got it back and It works like brand new. Stan really know his stuff, and he is very honest and reasonable . I would give him 10 stars If I could.

Ive taken three or four things to the Electronic Center, and have always been very happy with their service. The last time was in June. They told me it would take about 3 weeks to get to it, and they called me with an estimate after about that amount of time. It took them another week to get it done, but it worked perfecty and the price seemed very reasonable. The owner told me that they had gotten behind last winter, because of so much business, but that he expected to be back to a 2 week turnaround before much longer. They always seem to have plenty of work, which is probably the main reason I use them. I figure theres a good reason theyre so popular.I came across the negative review from J. Roach when i was looking up their number on the web, and it provoked me to leave my own review so as to balance things out. Seems to me that he should have raised the issue with the owner, rather than try to promote a competitor. All I know is that Ive never had any problems with the electronic Center, and I know that many people feel its the best repair shop in town for stereo equipment.

Electronic Center... All I can say is WOW!!! I have dropped off two, 40 year old turntables to be worked on by Stan and his crew within the last 5 months. Both times I was told that I would be put in line and would probably take 8 weeks to get to my tables. I chose to hold on to my turntables during the waiting periods. Each time, about 8 weeks later, I dropped off my tables at the Electronic Center. The first table was a 40 year old Kenwood direct drive in mint condition. I thought sounded damn good. Stan called and told me that he needed to replace some caps and resistors. Knowing this table was 40 years old, I told him to go ahead and fix what needed to be done. With in a week I brought this table home. And with this table, in mint condition. I didnt think that I would be able to hear any difference. WOW!!! The difference was like night and day.Not long after, I purchased my dream turntable from California. The table was not in near the condition that I was lead to believe. 8 weeks later I took this table in to Stan. A few days later. Stan called and I was going to need 26 caps, several resistors, damping fluid in the tonearm and that the cartridge was shot. I told Stan, to do, what needed to be done and asked if he had any recommendations for a new cartridge. Stan offered to reach into his secret stash of new vintage cartridges. And install the same cartridge that he has on his Vintage Thorens Turntable. WOW!!! Unbelievable!!! This is the sound that I have been reading about. Needless to say, I can honestly recommend Stan and his staff at the Electronic Center.Stan, I cant remember the name of the guy that you had work on my table. But tell him thanks!!! 👍 Just my 2 cents!!!Kenny Hamm

I brought my stereo in that had a broken speaker standoff bridge that snapped off during renovations in my house. These amazing people had it fixed in less than 36 hours (with a fee for expediting the process - totally understandable). The bass output afterwards was not working on the same stereo device. I (to no avail) tried to remedy the issue, despite the device being pre-configured months prior for full output. When I noticed the bass output wasnt working, I brought it in, not realizing that having the stereo unplugged for 1-2 weeks during renovations would not retain the settings (was hoping for CMOS-level retention of settings as per a computer motherboard...clearly that was not the case). These guys graciously did the testing on their own dime, and pointed out the settings that were incorrectly placed. Truly top-notch folks that know the ins and outs of old and new stereo equipment. If you ever have ANY issues with your audio equipment - new or old....make a trip to this location. Theyve got you covered.

Horrible Experience! I took a Denon power amp for repair that Stan couldnt get working. I was over charged and then given a piece of junk onkyo amp that has a blown right channel. What a rip off. I highly recommend going elsewhere. Stan seems to forget customer service is the key. Im sure Stan got the Denon working and resold it in his store for a decent margin. When i called in to see what we could do he told me that i owed him money on the piece of junk blown Onkyo amp. Scam artists BEWARE. If i could give negative stars I would!

I am stunned with the extremely poor service I recieved from The Electronic Center on West 79th St. in Overland Park. I took in a pair of Logitech computer speakers for repair and essentially paid 20.00 for the privilege of being told they were doing me a courtesy. I did call the owner before posting this but no resolution was reached. The end cap to the main cord needed to be replaced and the cord shortened some due to exposed wiring. The repairs were to be completed in a week which was actually closer to 2 weeks when I was called and told the repairs were completed. I took the speakers home and there was no sound coming from one of the speakers. When I talked to Stan the owner he told me that his shop did not do work on computers. These are excellent speakers that can even be used by themselves with android or iPhone plug in access. Stan told me no they could only be plugged into the back of a computer to be used. I informed him that was not true. I asked him if he even tested the speakers by plugging in the new end cap to check the sound output. Stan admitted that he did not even test the so called completed repairs to the speakers. Why not test the speakers??? Stan just kept repeating that the work order was for replacement of the end cap and that was the extent of his obligation to me as a customer. Im glad I dont operate that way as a nurse because I would have lost my license to practice a long time ago. Im going to give Audio Mart or another electronic repair place my business. Unbelievable!!!!

I strongly suggest going with Audio Mart Service Center on 80th & Metcalf over The Electronic Center on 79th & Metcalf. I dropped a power amp off at both the first week of Feb of 2013, on the same day, to compare the two. Audio Marts bench fee was cheaper and I was called within a week and given a quote. The amp was finished almost the next day. I was actually so happy with the level service and attention to detail I dropped off 2 more pieces with Audio Mart, which were quoted and finished in less than 2 weeks. To be fair TEC did warn me it could take a couple weeks for the amp I left with them to be see a bench but it was a month before I heard from them. Audio Mart Service Center was able to service 3 pieces of my equipment before TEC even got me a quote on one. Albeit warned, this is a hard thing to ignore. If that had been the end of my experience I probably would have shrugged off the delay and considered it more or less a draw. Except when I arrived at TEC, after being called mind you, to pick up my supposedly fixed amplifier I was told they had forgotten to do the work. Three trips up to The Electronic Center later, I finally have my amplifier back. Both channels do work again but I am very unimpressed with the quality of work. I was really hoping they might redeem themselves in this category but I still have a burnt out LED, the caps used are very poor quality and the physically disheveled resistor I pointed out when I took the amp in was not replaced as I asked. I realize the resistor may still be to spec now but the enamel/ceramic is gone and its starting to rust. It wouldnt have killed them to go ahead and replace it while they had everything apart to avoid the future nuisance, as it seems to be at least nearing the end of its days. By comparison Audio Mart used OEM or equivalent parts and even went so far as to resolder a good chunk of the parts not replaced because of weak joints. I was given the old parts and all of the work done was fully explained upon pickup too.I am not usually one to usually berate a local business but with a more competent shop a block down Metcalf I feel like I should warn those looking to google for help.
