I purchased our 2017 Navigator lift truck from Ring Lift due solely to my positive experiences working with Ring Power with my CAT eqpt and my on- road vehicles. Princeton and Moffett are more commonly used in this area, though I chose to purchase a Navigator due to my past experience with Ring Power, assuming the lift truck division would be run like the equipment division is run, and not wanting to experiment with another dealer. My experience with Ring Power remains positive, though I can not say the same about the lift truck division. From the start I had issues getting simple information, such as the lift truck being delivered to the third- party mounting the lift to our semi and me asking Luke repeatedly for the VIN so we could get insurance on the unit. After several emails and almost a week later, I had to spell out the possibility of the machine being stolen, and if this were to happen without insurance it would be a mess for all parties involved, he then promptly got me the info I needed to insure the lift. I also signed off on the paperwork to have training done, no one ever followed through on that and we learned ourselves. We later had an issue with the machine not engaging in forward or reverse, Ring Lift promptly sent out a tech, diagnosed the issue as a wiring problem, temporarily got our machine running to get on the truck, then told us it needed to come back to their shop. I had the machine brought to our shop first as down time will kill us, just to find out it was a bad fuse. The service manager did waive the invoice but it was frustrating to learn that I almost had a week of downtime over a fuse. Had the technician solely put a fuse in the lift I wouldve happily paid his drive time and labor/ parts and called it a day, but I felt they were trying to take advantage of the situation and get the machine into their service dept.My second to last experience was two weeks ago. Weve developed a few leaks on our machine, one of the lights does not work, and it needs general maintenance. I called service and spoke to someone about the possibility of dropping it off and picking up a rental. He informed me that someone from the rental dept would get in touch, this has not happened to this day and Im no longer interested. We will have a third- party service the machine. The last experience is a battery that was bad last week, I called to see if they had a battery in stock and the parts dept told me I would have to take the battery out of the machine and get him the group number and that he was not able to look up the battery based on the machine or our company information. With our CAT eqpt, we can call down there, give them our serial number, and anything we need the parts dept is able to look up, so this was surprising to me. The battery was removed from the machine and swapped at a local auto parts store. In conclusion, the negative experience will almost certainly end up pushing me to another dealer for our lifts on the next purchase, which may end up meaning we use another brand of lift. It may be this industry does not understand up- time like the construction industry does, as the bulk of their customers, I would imagine, are large manufacturing companies such as Pepsi, Cola, etc. It may not be better at another dealer, but well have to find out. If management could run this place like Ring Power is run I would have zero issues purchasing another machine from them.
