My first time renting here and I was a little worried what could happen based on other reviews here. I was very happy with the quality of service I received from Brayden and the speed of that service. The prices were fair, the car did what I needed it to do and when Brayden send me on my way, I felt like if I needed anything, I could contact him and he would be willing to help. Luckily I did not have any issues but it was good to feel like someone cared about my experience and wanted to make it a good one. I hope the good reviews keep coming in as I was impressed with this branch and my rental experience.
Dont ever go here. I couldnt even get a car and they left me stranded when I was 600 miles from home. They asked me to leave the building because I was on the phone and were unsympathetic to my situation. Worst place to rent a car. They let me do it 3 months ago without a credit card and told me that the policies have been there for years when it was only 3 months ago that I was able to rent. Do not go here. It is not worth even paying for it when they lie to you.
Great customer service, great vehicle. Will rent from them again. Hertz is always my go to place to rent a car.
I made a reservation through Expedia. The confirmation email said the location closed at 5:30. I drove 25 minutes and arrived at 5:01, and they had closed. They opened the door, but they didnt have my car available. They offered a different car at $10 more per day. I asked why the car that I reserved wasnt available, and he said that the last one MAY have been taken since I was supposed to arrive at 4:30 and I was late. I left without a car.
They gave me the keys to a Kia Rio backed out of the parking spot and realized something was wrong with the steering wheel it made an awful sound when you turned it. When I called they said they were aware that something was stuck in the steering gear and it was fine and the man was very rude when I asked about getting a different car and told me I could come back tomorrow. After the attitude I was met with I decided to give back the keys and go to Enterprise where the people are way friendlier. The car was also very dirty. Would recommend going somewhere where they care about your safety!!!
Stay away.Didn’t have my car, overbooked, didn’t notify me. Waste of time and weekend plans.
I’m sorry to report that in my almost 30 years of traveling for business, I had the worst experience with this Orem, Ut Hertz location! On effort from the local CSR’s to make their mistake right! They have lost my business and my companies business Forever!
Worst service ever!! Got to the place after booking online and they asked if we wanted a free upgrade because they didnt have a car for me. I said yes went to go and the car would not even start. Sat there for 20 min trying to get it to start. Finally just went back in and asked for a different car. They gave us a different car. When I returned it they charged me a smoking fee saying there was a smell and ashes, which could not be possible cuz we never smoked. Just additional charges for no reason. A 245.00 rental turned into a 508.00 rental for bull**** fees. I would never use this place again. Also the check engine came on and we had to put oil in it. They must of failed to even service it before renting it out...
Today their manager decided to close and lock the doors about 15 minutes before 5:30. Ive rented from this location for the past 3 rentals; this time they wont accept my business debit card. Theyve accepted it the last 3 times over the last 2 months; not this time. There was another customer knocking on the door at 5:20, 10 minutes before they closed! He never came and helped her! They had my business. Now, I will never rent from them again.
Almost got hit by a Hertz service van in Orem, they did not indicate that they were pulling from the curb, and did not check that there were 3 cars including myself in the lane of traffic, had to pull into oncoming traffic to avoid being hit and so did the people behind me. How can you rent cars and not know how to drive?
Dan White is very nice. He helped us so much.
HORRIBLE customer service! I was the Only one in the store and they couldn’t look up from their computers long enough to give me the time of day. All I had to do was return the car. But when I asked for a receipt they didn’t even want to deal with that. I won’t go there again.
I would do a negative. Worst place ever. Charged a smoking fee when we dont smoke
There were a few reasons I will never use a local Hertz office again:1. The person who helped me, both during the pickup and the drop off process, was quite conceded.2. During pickup I had to wait 15 minutes for him to assist someone else, which was fine, but when it was my turn he basically handed me the keys and pushed me out the door. He didnt ask me a single question.3. After driving the car home to prepare for my road trip (the purpose of the rental) my wife noticed there was severe damage on the drivers side door and by the rear drivers side wheel well/fender. I took several photos and contacted Hertz Roadside Assistance to report the issues. They told me not to worry about it, and notated it on my rental.4. I also noticed the check engine light was on, which is very disconcerting when having to travel long distances in the winter. I also informed Hertz Roadside Assistance of this, they told me it was probably a loose gas cap and not to worry about it. It would have made me feel much better to know someone had actually investigated and let me know I wasnt going to end up stranded on the side of some road because of it.5. On drop off I had to wait 20 minutes while he awkwardly flirted with a college age girl who was trying to rent a car and acted like knowing all of her travel plans background were part of the contracting process. Needless to say, she appeared very nervous and uncomfortable. Very unprofessional, and this wasnt another college age kid asking, this was a late 30s male adult at least.6. When it was my turn he noticed I had contacted Hertz Roadside Assistance and proceeded to treat me like a criminal. He made me sit an additional 20 minutes while he found proof that the damage had been reported before. Once he found the evidence he needed he acted like he was doing me a favor by letting it slide.7. The damage on the drivers door was due to someone using what I can only guess was a large screw driver or crow bar to pry the door open. This left the seal on the drivers door broken, so as you can imagine, a 4 hour drive on the freeway doing 80 was very unpleasant. I informed the Hertz representative of my discomfort and he didnt once apologize or even acknowledge my pain.8. While the rep was looking into the damage to the vehicle he noticed his pen was missing. He asked a fellow employee, jr rep?, if he had seen it. The jr rep said he hadnt, so the jr rep proceeded to look for it. The jr rep went to the back room and came back a minute later with a pen and handed it to the rep assisting me. The rep assisting me started grilling the jr rep about where he had gotten it and rudely telling him to put it back where he had found it. Id have to say, it was up there in one of the most awkward situations Ive had while being assisted by a customer service rep anywhere. Please do something about this rep, he was so unprofessional to everyone around him. In my professional opinion and from an HR perspective, hes a lawsuit waiting to happen. I will gladly describe him if you care to know exactly who it was that assisted me - male, caucasian, mid to late 30s, red hair, goatee, probably 6 though I didnt look closely. He didnt have a name tag, probably on purpose and never told me his name.
Ive read a few reviews saying similar things. We reserved a car online about six days in advance, with the correct phone number. When we got to Hertz that morning, a hastily hand-scrawled note on the door said they were out of cars. We went inside and the employee there said that a reservation doesnt necessarily mean youll be getting a car. He said he tried calling us? But gave out an entirely wrong number--which I dont know how thats possible. He said that it was the airports fault, because they wait for the airport to get cars. I kind of believe him, but, if youre a manager, own your mistakes and dont pretend to call when you obviously didnt call us. This may be a company-wide problem, and I suggest they figure out a program to ensure customers get the car they reserved. We went to Enterprise down the street, and a similar problem happened where we called ahead and reserved a certain type of car and was given a huge SUV instead. It ended up working out and we were quite happy with our trip and our car, but there needs to be a way where customers get the car they reserved in advance and to ensure that this happens.
Dan and Anoa provided world-class service!
I was hesitant initially after reading some reviews, but I realize people typically go out of their way to leave bad reviews, but rarely leave reviews when they are satisfied. Also, most of the poor reviews were several years old. I had an excellent experience overall. Online booking was simple. I called the morning of pick up to confirm my reservation, and I greeted politely and pleasantly. When I arrived to pick up my rental, Brayden was friendly, helpful, and patient. I didnt encounter any problems, and drop off was a breeze. I highly recommend Orem Hertz rental!
Your Brayden is such a blessing! I am so very grateful for all the time he took today to make sure I was able to keep my dear aunt safe.Mr. Brayden,May you be blessed.Jen
If I could give this place no stars, I would because they are seriously the worst. I had a reservation set for a Friday to go on a weekend trip and this location made me miss my hotel reservations. The hotel was non refundable so, I lost quite a bit of money. I had my reservation set for 5pm and I showed up at 4:45pm to pick up my car. I later found out through corporate that they had closed their office at 4:30pm and didnt even have a car available for me; they had a sign outside saying they were open until five and google said they were open until 5:30pm.I waited nearly half an hour to see if I could reach them over the phone or see if someone would come back, but nothing. I will never do business with them again and I recommend no one else does either. They are not professional at all.
Horrific customer service from the Manager Joshua. He was confrontational from moment I walked in the door. I am a Hertz corporate member and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I would strongly reconsider my choice of people who are representing my company if I were Hertz. Long story short, he called me a liar about my exchange of vehicles, due to the vehicle needing repairs, insulted the owner of my company, lied about the conversation to whom I spoke with about exchanging the vehicle, etc. I recommend doing business with the Lehi location instead of Orem.
Go to enterprise. I’ve had a terrible experience here and the man that “helped” me gave terrible service. He very quickly gave a “not my fault” answer and pushed us out the door. I am legit praying for this man because he did not look ok.
Rented a car over last week. I really wish there was another Hertz location in south utah county. Also, I wish this location was open all day on Saturday if theyre not going to have another location farther south. They were nice and accommodating. We even had to go back and get another rental car where ours got hit by another vehicle while it was parked. They got us another vehicle thank you. We did try and return prior to them closing on Saturday, we were there just before closing and they had already closed and locked there doors. We had tried calling them 3 times prior to them closing and no one would answer the phones to let them know we were stuck in traffic due to them shutting down I-15 with the rolled tanker. I think another location or extend your hours would be very helpful. Ive left a message with the customer service department on Saturday, they were suppose to call me back that same day to get everything checked in and worked out, so far I havent heard from anyone. If they do reach back out to me like theyre suppose to, Ill edit to 5 stars. Thanks!
1 star is being nice! Doors were locked before their posted closing time of 5pm. I mean what kind of business does that?!
I reserved the car and paid for it with a month in advance, when I finally went to picked up the car I had a temporal card, they didn’t know what to do and they didn’t have any answers for me but to call billing and costumer service and I DID. I paid already so I didn’t think it will be much of a problem but it was! I was on the phone with a lady for over an hour, the lady on the phone promise me to keep the same price and car but I had to cancel my current reservation and make a new one with a new card. So I did. Towards the end of the call she mention the change on the price from 323 to 428! Big difference! At the end she said she would honor the original price and I could pick up the car that same night. Days later I check my bank account and they didn’t HONOR the price. They charge me again for the car with a much higher price. Such a horrible experience. Paying in advance is worthless and they just ended up taking more money and lied to me just to get over with it and move on with their day. Horrible horrible service.
Daniel White is the best
I worked with the location manager. He was pleasant and out going and still provided the absolute best and fastest service I have ever had when renting a car. Truly an excellent experience.
I have never had to rent a car before, Hertz was hassle free and had great customer service. I would recommend Hertz to anyone needing a rental.
Honestly the only reason I’m giving such a good rating is because of the staff. I can’t remember the mans name, but he was from Indianapolis and he was fantastic. I had been in a car wreck and he went out of his way to be so helpful and gave me the same car that I had before someone hit me.
From reading other reviews and my experience, I get why this place has got crappy reviews. If you do use this place, call the day before your scheduled to pick up, make sure everything is in order. Then call the hour before your pick up just to double check. And then everything should be in order. But if this place was good you wouldnt have to do any of that. Seems like the manager doesnt listen to his employees. They all seemed really stressed. And there is poor communication skills. It took and hour and half for me to get my car. They where so scrambled and behind I ended up with a higher class car for the base car price. I wont complain about that. This will be my last resort when I rent a car again.
I had such a good experience here! Kenny was so helpful! He came and picked me up from my repair shop and got me in and out quickly. I felt really well taken care of!
I called this last Friday hoping to get a rental car. They told me they had one, then when I was on my way to get it, I called to double check and they said they wouldnt have one for me until Monday. I called on Monday and they still didnt have one. Its been 5 days now and I still havent heard from them, so Im going to Enterprise. I recommend you do the same.
So disappointed in HERTZ!Made a reservation online, only to discover that no cars are available. When I expressed my concerns to Kylie, she was SO RUDE!We were left stranded because your office is overbooked. I have a confirmation #. I understand that you are out of cars, that mistakes happen, but Kylie said it isnt HER problem. I asked what she would recommend, and she said to call someone else.I asked if she was aware that this wasnt good customer service, and she just snorted I dunno. I asked for a supervisor, and she said he was on vacation. (Really?) I asked to speak to anyone else, and she said there was no one else. I asked how to spell her name, and she snorted, Any way you want!. I asked for her last name, and she said, You dont get my last name!Your company has left me in a bind, and your employee, instead of being compassionate or service oriented, has a bad attitude.BAD SERVICE! BAD EXPERIENCE!
I was very hesitant to come here after reading reviews but this is where our insurance told us to go. Pick up and drop off were both under ten minutes. Staff was professional, courteous, and efficient. The car was nice and ran well.
I will never rent a car from here again. They wont take an out of state license or debit card.
Great experience with Hertz! This is my second time renting a car from this location to go on a trip and both times have been super easy and hassle free. The employees who Ive worked with have always been friendly and courteous and not hard to deal with at all. This time around, the gal still let me get the AAA discount and add another driver without paying even though my card had just expired without me realizing it. As far as the car goes, the Nissan Rouge they put us in was a dream! Ill definitely be making reservations again here in the future.
There are specific times that cars need picking up for a reason. Not having a car ready at that time (no matter when the car was returned) is inexcusable. Forewarning was given weeks and months in advance. Stock needs to be kept for the required cars. The guy in front of us has been waiting for 20 minutes longer than me for something that should have already been taken care of. Please improve readiness.
Negative 1 Star. After an accident, my insurance reserved a car through Hertz. I called Hertz and the confirmed my reservation in their system. They asked me to call back and to inform them of when my car would go into the shop.I set the appointment with the body shop and called Hertz. They didnt add any date to my reservation. They told me to call when I was going to drop my own car at the body shop. I thought that was odd.I came on Google and a lot of 1-star reviews. Worried, I called a week before my reservation to confirm. Again they told me to just call the morning of the reservation. Im ridiculously uptight so I called again 4 days before the reservation and got the same answer. On the morning of the reservation I tried to call and got put on hold. I was on hold until I got to the body shop so I hung up. Walked half a mile to Hertz on a nice spring morning. When I got there I was told that they didnt have a car for me right then, but that they would get me one soon. I asked what soon meant and was told We dont know exactly. I asked if soon meant an hour, a day, or a week. I was told We dont know. I explained my above preparations and frustrations at their lack of preparation. I also told them this is exactly why they have a bad rating on Google. I was then told, If you had told us when you were coming we wouldve reserved the car for you. I was furious but respectfully repeated that I *had* called, 3 times, including that morning. I asked them to cancel my reservation, which they did.I called my insurance company, they set up a rental through Enterprise in South Orem, I got a ride to Enterprise, and after a 20 minute wait and 10 minutes working with them I drove away in a rental car.
Wish i could give ZERO stars...Given one car but had problems with it, then told I could get another car but oh wait never mind someone else who doesnt have a rental yet gets it because thats right I dont get priority when they can get $ from someone new... so then Im stuck with no help from HERTZ and missed 2 assignments of work due to having to wait another day without rental replacement....now I understand why in the news Hertz is having financial problems because they dont treat the customers with respect or decency to consider the client a priority...
Chase was my guy and he was amazing. He did his best for me to get the best option and he was thoughtful. He will sincerely cares about you. Definitely going back if I need to rent a car again and I appreciate him.
Overall I had a great experience working with this hertz. Jeffrey, who is the branch manager was very helpful and got me into the car I needed for the price the insurance would cover! He stayed late both times I was at the store to make sure everything was good to go. Very nice people, and from my experience they do whatever they can to help their customers!
Unfortunately, a reservation does not mean you actually have your vehicle reserved. I reserved a large SUV (Nissan Armada or equivalent) to use over Memorial Day weekend. When I arrived to pick-up the car they did not have a large SUV available. The most disappointing aspect was the complete lack of interest to try to help me in my predicament. No apologies or suitable alternative solutions were offered. The attendant did offer a Ford Explorer (which she admitted is a smaller class of vehicle), but then had to actually retract that offer as she couldnt find the keys to the Explorer. Wow!It quickly became clear I was going to have to help myself, if I wanted help. I then initiated a series of questions to run through alternatives (i.e. get a car from a nearby Hertz, cooperate with a different rental agency, etc.), for which I was told none were possible. When I asked if this happens regularly, the attendant stated yes, but mostly on weekends. When I asked what I could do, she told me to call the Hertz 1-800 corporate line.I still am baffled how they could show no concern or remorse through the whole exchange. A Memorial Day bust, courtesy of the Orem Hertz. Bummer.
Quick and reliable service. I mentioned there was damage on my rental that I didnt want to be responsible for before leaving their facility. The agent came out and took multiple pictures from different angles to document well the damage so that I would not be held accountable. Very pleasing to work with and the vehicles are cleaner than multiple other locations I have rented from. I will be back for sure!
Sometimes people tend to leave reviews only when they have a terrible experience. Be careful and make sure you read both the good and bad. I have rented from Enterprise and here as well, and I have to say I was treated well with hertz. They are understaffed sometimes, but I never waited too long than whats expected. I had an accident with my rental last time, and I was treated with sympathy and understanding. Overall, its not a 5 star, top notch rental company, but the people do their jobs the best they can, and thats enough for me.
This was my husband and eyes first time renting a car, and we were very disappointed. The person that was working there was not very helpful or interested in trying to help us when we had questions or concerns. Also we reserved one car in and up getting a different car that was going to be less gas efficient for a road trip which was unfortunate. We were also confused at how difficult it was for us to switch drivers at the desk. We ended up leaving the store feeling very dissatisfied, I am very likely to never go back to hertz or at least not the one in Orem!
Made a reservation for a vehicle on their website, showed up to pick up our rental at the promised time and they couldn’t find our reservation and when we showed them our confirmation they “apologized” for not having any vehicles for us and said there was “unfortunately absolutely nothing they could do” horrible experience very disappointing and absolutely no attempt to rectifyTold us there were problems with the website and it’s not their fault and we left without a vehicleWe booked directly through their website and not through any third party travel sites
We decided to do a last minute rental last week..for just 1 day for a quick day-trip...I went online to Hertz website in the morning to reserve a mini-SUV and reserved to pick it up that evening before they closed...about an hour later they called me saying that the mini-SUV was not available on such short notice, but they could get me a car...I said OK....I went that evening to pick it up and they apologized but they didnt have a car either, but they said I could upgrade to a mini-van for the same price...that actually worked out better because we had some equipment we were taking on out trip...we got the van, went on our trip at about 4am, and we were back and dropped off the vehicle by 5pm...smooth transaction and very pleased with the whole experience! Very easy and pleasant to work with! Thanks so much!
Reserved a rental on Saturday for a pick up on Monday and it still took an hour and a half to get the rental, terrible systems and customer service. They just dont care. Avoid at all costs. Only choose this company for its the only rental in the city Im dropping off at. Ive received wonderful service and rates from enterprise.
This has to be the absolute worst Hertz office in America. I reserved vehicle a week ago for use while my car being fixed. This morning they were to meet me at repair shop. No show. Repair shop called, no answer. Second time they did and indicated they would send a Lyft driver to pick me up. That driver, with GPS, got lost. So a second Lyft driver sent. I got to Hertz office and was put in a small car with two bald tires and a hubcap missing. Did I go to Rent-a-Wreck? I drive a medium size SUV. I was put in a compact car. That is not so much a bad deal as is being given a vehicle that in most states would not pass a safety inspection. I asked for trade vehicle soon as one could be made available or by the end of the day. I just called a second time to see if vehicle ready, no answer at the Hertz office. The first time it rang 15 times before I hung up. Will recommend to the insurance carrier to drop their affiliation with the local Hertz office. The poorest service I have ever encountered.
Ali give me great advices on how to drop my payment, and it was awesome. I really recommend this place. If you come to rent ask for Ali!!
I had a good experience here. The people were helpful and worked quickly. The car we got was not the newest or nicest, but it was plenty good enough.
Had to rent due to an accident at someone elses fault. The staff here was super friendly and got me in something decent while my car was in the shop.
Im a gold member, I made a reservation through the website for a specific vehicle. The confirmation page even went so far as to tell me that I would be charged for not picking up the vehicle if i didnt cancel with at least 24 hours notice (or was it 48?). Anyway, I was going to have to pay for missing it if I failed to pick it up, because they were making such as effort to have my specific vehicle ready.A half hour before they closed on the evening before I was to pick up my rental (after my deadline to cancel without a fee) I got a call telling me that they had not had that vehicle available for two weeks, and that they would not be able to get it for me buy the pick up time. I missed that call, and that message went to voice mail. I showed up to look for my rental in the morning, and felt a bit like Jerry Seinfeld explaining how reservations work. The best he could offer me was a choice between a scary looking 12 passenger van with no windows behind the driver seat (which doesnt work when one child has problems with motion sickness), or another vehicle that should be available sometime, but no specific time, in the afternoon (meaning I couldnt start driving to my brothers funeral until I should have been about 400 miles into the drive, depending on when it would become available).Neither of these options worked for me. I called their competitor and they had exactly what I needed within the hour. It only took that long because they drove it to me from the next county. Hertz specifically told me that they had what I needed in that same area where their competitor got mine but their other locations refused to deliver one for me. No reason was given.I dont know where the real problem is, but it appears to be one or more of the following:»Poor management of the pick up location, not getting things ready to fill reservations.»Poor management at other locations that refuse to support their sister branches of their own company»Poor centralized corporate system that makes reservations it cannot fill.No matter where the problem is, I dont have confidence to make another reservation. Because, if its important to me I dont want to risk having them stand me up again. I dont want to have to call their competition to bail me out again. Ill just start with the ones who can get things done to care for their customers.
Do not waste your time and money!Called in for a reservation about 3-4 days before. I went in the day I was SUPPOSED to pick up the car at 8:30 am. I get there, no cars we’re available until 2-3 hours! C’mon!
Yeah, its as awful as a lot of the reviews say it is. Ive been trying to get a reservation scheduled for 3 days now. Each time I call, they have no record of me. They were supposed to pick me up twice today to take me to their location to get everything squared away. No showed both times and each time I called again, no record of my reservation and no record that I was supposed to be picked up. They are nice on the phone but seem to be incompetent when it comes to actually doing their job. Hertz might be a good rental car company, but this location if awful.
Very rude people! After rental they charged me for what I didn’t agreed to pay. I only told them that I wanted what my insurance would pay for and they charged me for what I didn’t want. Don’t ever go with them they are out for your money and don’t treat you like a normal human being.
This office has the worst customer service. The man who helped us was incredibly rude, manipulative and condescending not only to us but to the couple who was ahead of us in line. We then had to wait an additional 30 minutes while they washed, gassed, and detailed the car because the car that we had reserved specifically had been given to someone else. In good conscience I could not recommend than any other person on the planet be subjected to such customer service.
HORRIBLE SERVICE (if you can call it that)! Ignored for over 20 min. Had to ask some kid who came in (to answer the phone) if the people in front of me (who had been waiting nearly 2 hours) could be helped. He said no and walked to the back. Prepaid car was given to someone else. I dont know how this site stays in business. Guessing not very many repeat customers. Never got the car. Ended up at Enterprise for cheaper and a much better car and experience. Skip this store at all cost.
We rented a car from them for our first time renting a car ever, and they were horrible to work with! They were ridiculous to get a hold of, they made renting the car such a hassle, and they double charged our card! And to top it all the employee who was there obviously cared more about going home than helping us with our rental. I’m never renting from Hertz again, especially this location!
Even as I sit here (10:30) writing this review, Ive been waiting for Hertz (Hurts) to call me back about a rental car I ordered on-line 10 days ago. I was supposed to pick it up at 9:00 this morning and when I got there they said it was still at the airport an hour and a half away.I just got off the phone with them and they dont know where it is, we only know its on the road. Really?!! In this modern day of electronics, we cant get in touch with anyone about where an entire car is?The only reason I gave them one star is because I couldnt give them a big fat ZERO!!We are waiting to go on our trip and maybe by nightfall we can sit in our driveway and waste one whole day of our vacation.12:00 Noon, still no car and Sean still has no idea what time it will be available. He couldnt even say if it would be 8:00 tonight. I really have no idea where or when the car will be here. So, do we cancel our hotel reservations? Do we postpone our vacation? Do we cancel our vacation?I called the national Hertz line and told them I wanted a credit for today and they said I would have to contact the store. The store said I have to talk to the manager Drew. You can bet I will!!!They were more than happy to charge my credit card 10 days ago when I reserved the nonexistent car. This and they really suck!!12:50 they say the minivan is 15-20 minutes away, Really!!Dont use Hertz if you can help it or unless you have unlimited time, money, patience and dont care if you get where you need to go.Or, rent a day before you need to be there because youll need it to get the car.Im going back to Orem now. Hopefully, this isnt another lie.Drew the store manager at Hertz did take 1 day from the rental price and credit it back and also put that the car was empty when I got it so we dont have to fill it up.He seemed as frustrated as I was. I still dont understand their policy of booking cars they dont have.1:50 and were finally on the road!
Dont bother giving this place your business. Twice now I have reserved a car and twice I was told they had no car for me. This place is awful.
We rented a car in slc that ended up with a maintenance issue something under the car fell off and was dragging making it difficult to drive and not great for the car. We couldn’t get ahold of anyone on the phone at the Orem location (which was closer to where we were staying) so we drove the car over hoping to swap it out. They did not have any cars to swap which I understand isn’t an easily solved problem but they were not doing anything to problem solve with us. He literally told me I could “take it to jiffy lube so they could fix it” at which I replied I was not spending half a day on my short vacation at the mechanic with a rental car. After asking if there was an affiliate service or location we could check for another car he suggested we contact the Provo airport or Lehi locations but that he couldn’t call them because “they would just say no to him” and then proceeded to give us those phone numbers. It took 2 more stops at other locations to finally get the car swapped out. Hertz corporate customer service on the phone was also terrible telling us to complain to the location we returned the car to, not them. Terrible service. We will not be using hertz again. Half of our first day in town spend dealing with this.
They got me in and out super quick when dropping off my car. Weve also received a sweet free upgrade here.
Reserved a car for 8 am, made reservation 3 days early. Show up at 8am, didnt leave till 9am because the car wasnt ready. Very understaffed - only one guy working the office. Car smelled like smoke. Two stars because I got a Mazda 3 (better than the car I reserved)
I wish zero stars were an option. Insurance sent me their way, I called, they said they would have something available in about an hour and would call me when it was ready. No call. 45 minutes before they closed I started trying to call, but no one would answer. Finally I got a ride to the location. 10 minutes before they closed the door was locked. Guy came and unlocked the door, told me he had no cars. I asked why he took my reservation then. He went on a rant about the reservation system and how he has no help and no support and badmouthing everyone up the chain above him. I turned and walked out.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!!Rip off. They are total morons too! They said they couldn’t find my car when I returned it after hours in their parking lot and it was parked 3 stalls from in front of the front doors. I also got almost a $4,000 bill since they didn’t charge me when I dropped it off!Pretty sure they held it and billed me a month or 2 later for double what I was expecting. This company is a joke!
We scheduled a car with hertz while ours was in the shop. we spoke with Kenna and set everything up. we got to the store about an hour and a half before closing. we were interrupted several times for her to assist other renters. by the time we were getting assistance with our rental we had a banking issue with one of cards. we called the bank and got it it fixed. we gave her two cards to try and she said that she was about to close and would only try one card. we knew the one was going to take a second to go through so while we were trying to decide what to do Kenna said that she was closed and if we didn’t leave she would call the police. STAY AWAY!!!! And, Kenna should be fired!!!!!
Very helpful staff and nice cars. I was in a time crunch and they were able to hurry the cleaning process and get me on my way in no time.
Very efficient and very helpful staff.
These guys need better management. Its not the fault of the people that work at this location for the long waits and horrible reservation issues its HERTSs. Create a system that works FOR your renter not puts them out at every turn. If we reserve a vehicle for a certain number of passengers we expect to have that there waiting for us when we get there. Your excuses are just that, excuses, fix it and youll do better than your competition. And if you dont have the vehicle there when it is reserved and scheduled for pickup you should do more than just offer a half of a gas tank adjustment, there should be significant discounts or a few free days to say, oops, we screwed up and we really care about you.
Bad experience we returned a car and the guy was wiping the outside of it with his finger to see if he could find anything and then said there’s ash’s bro. You will be charged 300 for smoking in the car and it wasn’t even smoked in. But was still charged very unprofessional.
Ive rented from this location multiple times, so the three stars represents the overall experience. Ive had it where I show up, I get checked in, and Im on my way in ten minutes. Unfortunately, Ive also had it where I show up and it literally takes an hour before Im out the door. In the latter circumstance, there was only one employee working the front amidst a full lobby and a phone ringing off the hook. Once he got through the people in front of me, he had me checked in in about five minutes, and then I proceeded to wait about 35 minutes for another back-room employee to bring the car around. The manager at the desk became so impatient on my behalf that he went back himself, finished up the car prep and brought it to me personally. Judging by some conversations I overheard between other back-room employees, there are some real issues with speed in the back of the office due to that particular employee.Regardless, the desk employees have been respectful and nice despite being so horribly understaffed. Kudos in particular go to the manager Kenny, who has been very understanding and attentive. Until they get more employees on the clock, though, this location remains average.
Here’s the thing, Hertz sucks. But it wasn’t necessarily the fault of the people running the Orem office, but the company itself. My husband and I rented a car and prepaid a month before our vacation. The day we were supposed to pick up our car, they called us (8:20am) and told us they had no cars on their lot, but we were toward the top of the list... (We had pick up time at 12:00 noon) They we’re trying to call people who were supposed to return their cars, but couldn’t get a hold of anyone. Most of the cars were with people who had gotten in an accident and their insurance put them in a rental. We decided to go up around 10:30 to see what they actually had (we had to go out of our way) they had zero cars on their lot and neither did Provo or Lehi. My husband raised hell and they finally admitted to having one car, but it was getting the oil changed and they said we could take it when it was done. We barely got the car in time to head out of town for vacation, and they still had people waiting on other cars.I have three huge issues with what happened.1. They called us only 3 1/2 hours before we were scheduled to pick up the car. That gives us almost NO time to figure out an alternative.2. They were giving priority to people who had gotten in a car accident, rather than people who had already paid for a rental car.3. The company should never oversell their lot. And if they have people expecting cars, Hertz should find a way to get more cars to their offices so they don’t lose customers.Like I said, i don’t blame the employees, but the company itself. Worst experience EVER!
Dont use Hertz unless you dont care about waiting all day for your car. I made a reservation online and called the morning of. I was placed on hold forever and when I finally got to talk to somebody, turns out they didnt have a car and I didnt get one until after 1PM. We are on vacation and waiting killed a lot of our plans, and they only gave us a half tank of gas to make up for the time we lost. When I went to get the car, the car they wanted to give me wouldnt even start. The guy helping me went to check on it and then explained we just had to wiggle the steering wheel. Uhmm, no thanks. Luckily, he was able to get me a car that worked. The car had stains on all the seats, but at least it turns on. They are ridiculously understaffed and it was easily the worst rental experience I have had.
Helps me make a reservation for 12 noon and they are closed. Talk about crappy customer service. If your closing don’t make my pick up time then. Really put me out. Wouldn’t use them if other drivers insurance didn’t make me. Go to enterprise.
My insurance company sent me here to get a rental car after having been in an accident. When I went to bring the car back, there was an issue with the bill. Because I pay for rental car coverage every month, I shouldnt hardly pay anything. The men that were there at this location understood that I had been dealing with a lot of trouble the past couple of weeks due to the accident. They were kind enough to fix the problem so that I didnt need to call my insurance and figure things out over the phone. Im truly grateful for the understanding and help that I received. Glad that there are still people who are willing to go the extra mile to help.
Would give a lower rating if possible. Only had 1 employee present on a Monday morning. After waiting for an hour in a crowded lobby, and other people had waited longer... Someone walked in saying they were gold Platinum something or other.... Hertz is supposed to have their paperwork ready so they just drive away, but the manger hadnt done that, so he let them cut in line. Then when they walked out he said sorry some people will use their status to step on you.Letting people cut in line because you hadnt done your job, then bad mouthing them when they leave, is REALLY poor business.
Completely useless. Booked a car, went there they lied and said they tried to call us and tell us they have no cars. Rude woman up front was very uncaring and unapologetic about the situation, dont waste your time trying to rent cars that aren’t even available. If i could rate 0 stars i would.
Worst renting experience yet. I got to Hertz at 5:32pm after scheduling to pick up the car between 5pm-6pm and the door was locked. I saw their guys sitting inside and knocked and one answered and was very rude to me and turned me away. Saying they dont do pick ups then and Id have to figure things out myself. Worst customer service Ive ever had with a car rental agency. If I could give less than one star I would.
I received a rental car through State Farm. They were very professional and courteous. Shawn over at the South Orem location was very helpful and worked with me on an issue I had. Give this man a raise!
Terrible experience. Customer service.. can we even call it that anymore? Rude employees. Employees were very rude to my wife and unsympathetic to delayed flights. Prepayed car was given away and was told that there was nothing that could be done. I was told a completely different story than what was told to my wife from the same employee . Would not recommend this location.
I have rented from Hertz for years and rent from Hertz locations around the world. I don’t know what it is about this location but it is not good...sooooo sloooooow! For whatever reason the gold member benefits don’t apply here, so if you are used to having a car ready, like at every other Hertz, you will be very disappointed when you come here. After renting from here consistently for the past 2 years I keep hoping it will get better, but it hasn’t. The employees are a little nicer than they used to be (they used to be awful, really bad), but they are still just as slow. Very, very slow.Up date...nothing has changed. Sitting in a lobby full of customers while the one worker here frantically tries to service everyone. So far, after 20 minutes, she hasn’t managed to service one customer. What is it with this place?!
I dont usually do this but Im just trying to save the next person who might think to rent a car from here. This was the worst customer experience Ive received from a company in a long time. They forgot to come pick me up at the time I asked and then it took me 45 minutes calling in to finally get a hold of someone to come pick me up. Then they told me a person would be there in 20 minutes but the guy didnt show up for another 45 minutes. Then when I got to the store they didnt offer anything to compensate me for them being so late and forgetting to pick me up. Horrible customer service, I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone and I will not be using this Hertz office again.
After an accident that I was recently in, I went to Hertz in Orem for a rental while my car was being fixed. My wife and I worked with an employee that went over insurance options/ coverage that Hertz offered. I am relatively inexperienced with matter such as this, and the way t was pitched to me was that I did not have any choice in whether to purchase insurance or not. I was told I had to choose one of two presented options only. We chose the cheapest one due to the fact that being newlyweds, going to school, and other financial obligations, we have little money as it is. My truck was relativity new so replacement parts for the auto body shop were difficult to find. It took about a month my truck to be fixed to then return the rental. Even though we got the cheapest coverage that was offered from hertz it added up quickly. After I returned the car and paid for it, my insurance found out that I had purchased that coverage. They called me and told me to go back in to Hertz to get a refund. This Hertz was not willing to listen. They would not accept any responsibility for how things were explained to me and my wife despite the fact that it felt unethical and obligatory. I have reviewed this case with many other professionals, and they agree it was poor form, how we too small to deal with small claims court. This business was unethical and I am sure will deal with other ramifications in the future.
I can only agree with the previous reviews that people have left and offer my own advice. Sadly I did not read the reviews before I rented from this Hertz in Orem, Utah. If you have to get a rental car I would HIGHLY advise you to rent from any other rental business! Jerry was great. He took great care of us.
Sean Lundgren at Hertz rental ( the manager) and other employees has stolen 300.00 from me.I have now been threatened by him and his office with physical harm. Please save yourself from this experience. Do not use Hertz. I have a written statement from Sean, with his signiture stating that they would release the 300.00 hold well over a week 1/2 ago. In addition the car was suffering from mechanical issues and they refused to protect my family by placing me in a different car.
Customer service is not great. Manager doesnt seem to know what hes doing. Gave away the car i requested. Not helpful at all.
Nice cars. Not impressed with the staff. Kinda rude and whatever
On the ball assistance, helping others then myself in the order in which we arrived. I do think that one more person available to assist at the front counter would be a good idea.
Horrible customer service. We came to them because we were forced to come for the insurance. The manager was giving us a hard time the day before giving us a story that all the cars were out. The next day we call. He said he we can get a car. We drove there all to be told that there is no car. A waste of gas. When we got there he was fighting with another clientele. The manager really doesnt like his job. He wouldnt talk about anything else other than his policies. I would caution coming to this place. Terrible customer service. Big headaches.
My wife and I had an insurance rental after our car was totaled in a wreck which was not our fault. When I rented, I was not even asked about the satellite radio charge. I ended up being charged $75 for the satellite radio. Upon return, they gave me a receipt of the charges, and I asked about the charge. They told me they would get it taken care of by calling the billing department, and I was assured they would call in a couple days. NOT TO MENTION, when I returned, I was in a hurry to get to school, and the manager of the Hertz here in Orem came out and was chatting freely with the person I was dealing with about coming schedules and vacation time, with absolutely no regard for me or what I needed at the time. It was very poor managing technique, and I was quite shocked by it. I never received a call about the refund for my satellite radio charge, and have now called Hertz over 4 times in the past 2 weeks to try and see what is actively happening, and each time has been met with a disregard for my situation and no follow up. I finally called the billing department and received my refund after I was assured by Hertz in Orem that the billing department wouldnt help me. Hertz here in Orem was terrible, and I would highly recommend looking into the management that runs the place, and adjusting from there. My experience was absolutely pathetic.
I rented a car from this Hertz agency because it was close to the body shop where I was getting work done. While the location is convenient, the store is very inefficient and slow. I had to wait a long time and they seem to be quite disorganized.
Took over an hour for me to get my car causing me to miss an important meeting. The lady helping me had no clue what she was doing and just started at the computer screen until someone came to help. Unclear, short, go somewhere else.
By far the Worst company to rent from I have ever seen. Not only did i have to wait three hours to pick up the car. Worst customer service i have ever seen. No one knew what they where doing. Then when I returned the car they charged me for 163$ when the insurance company was covering it tell they found out my truck was a total loss. So then I call and ask about the charge get told the manager would refund my money so I give it 4 days and call back to get an update and the manager didnt know anything about it. Then half way in the convo he had a training with the guys that where there so i called him out on it and he got pissed and hung up on me. Never goimg back to them.
Car smelled like smoke, and staff attempted to deny it smelled like smoke. Understaffed. Disrespectful staff. One of the employees was complaining about other customers. Low stock.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My experience started when I got a rental from them through my insurance. It started in the Lehi, Utah location. Everything was perfectly smooth. Car was ready and clean. I was in and out without a problem. I had their car for about a week, it was a blue Hyundai Sonata. 3 different times the car had problems braking and when I called the Lehi location, they were very kind and told me they didn’t have any cars currently and referred me to the Orem, Utah Location. They were able to get me into a black Toyota Corolla (bigger mistake) and sent me on my way. They gave me the car with a full tank and it only lasted me about 2 days which is ridiculous considering it’s a smaller car. After a few more tanks of gas within the week, I contacted the Orem office and let them know of the problem. Every time they told me they would call me back and nothing. I decided to go into their location and I told them what was going on and instead of getting me into another car, they sent me on my way because the cars they currently had would use up more gas. This car was wasting more gas than my husbands dodge truck. I kept the car until my insurance was up and I called the day of and spoke to one of their employees and asked if I could return the car that night instead of the time that they close. The employee said there was no problem and it was fine. I let the guy know that I might not have enough time to fill up the tank again and how much would it be to have them fill it up. He told me the service charge was $9.99 plus what it costs to fill up the tank. I REPEATED it back to him to make sure I was getting accurate information. He repeated the same thing. I returned the car on a Wednesday and to my surprise, there was a $97 charge from hertz to my card the next day. I called them and asked them what it was for and they couldn’t give me an answer. They kept telling me they would call me or that their manager Kenny would contact me with information of the charges. Here I am now over a week and a half later and they were barely able to tell me it was for gas charges. I explained to him what his employee told me and his response was “That’s why I fired him because he was making multiple mistakes” he said he would try and figure it out and help me out. I kept waiting and waiting and I called and Eddie told me that Kenny had barely left and that he tried to get a partial refund of the gas charge because of his employee error and turns out they declined it. I responded and told him that we’re basically stuck paying for it even though it was employee error. He said yes.Save yourself the time and stress and pick a different rental car company. Enterprise has always been amazing and I will continue to stick with them. They made a mistake once regarding their insurance and enterprise had me taken care of the next day.Not like hertz where almost 2 weeks later and still no accountability for their employee mistake.
Very very poor experience. Glen, the representative I interacted with most, was very un-professional. He rolled his eyes and was extremely bothered whenever I came in to address an issue over the few months I used Hertz while my car was repaired in a local shop. He wouldnt address me and made others talk to me because he didnt want too.My time was not valued and I often would sit there waiting for a manger to come or while they addressed phone calls that came well after I had arrived. During discussions, phone calls were taken instead of finishing with me or others who were right in front of them. Then to top it all off, I was charged over $270 because the contract wasnt closed correctly. Therefore I waited over a week for the credit to be issued.Very unprofessional, not customer minded, and overall very bad experience. I would recommend Enterprise over Hertz any day of the week.
