Dr Chris George, from internal medicine and his team are amazing, very committed to helping his patient. My dog was very sick and we have been to several hospitals and clinics trying to figure out what was causing him to be so sick and Dr Chris George found what was causing his illness. He did everything staying on the lower side of cost, was very empathic and kept us informed the whole time. After learning that our dog needed surgery we made an appointment with Dr Emily Mouat, she is very professional, extremely gifted and honest. She did a surgery on our fur baby that was complicated and thanks to her and her team today our pup is doing much better. During this stressful time her and her team have been very empathic, kept us informed and very helpful. I will forever be grateful to all the amazing professionals that work at this clinic. I have nothing bad to say.
While i am so grateful that i could find a place to help my littlefoot, i will leave here feeling robbed as the quality of their customer service dropped immensely after my dog went inside and i was charged for tests twice. Staff told me their billing dept. will maybe handle it later and maybe give me a refund if they catch it. Not to mention the $1000 bill for an outpatient care kit.
We had a pet emergency and they were able to fit us in while other clinics could not. Clinics from Shelton to North of Seattle were full and could not help us. We received exceptional service and we are so thankful! The staff was compassionate and professional. Highly recommend!
I just took my dog over there to have an ultrasound and they were very kind, prompt, and informative. I felt like they really wanted me to understand her diagnosis and they answered every question I had. Veterinary practices and especially emergency is so busy nowadays and no one gets enough recognition. The staff here does amazing, life-saving work and I see you guys doing the work everyday that needs to be done and then some! Very appreciative
Saying goodbye to our almost 16 year old German shepherd was incredibly difficult. They took us in last minute, made everything as easy and clear as possible under the circumstances including cremation information. When her ashes were returned they were in a beautiful box with her name. Overall I felt like they treated her and us with respect and dignity. Thank you to everyone there that helped us that day.
I am from Connecticut and visiting my family,Dr Blake and her team took excellent care of Bailey. They were very reassuring and answered all my questions. We can’t thank them enough for their care of our Bailey.
The Vet was very upfront and gave realistic expectations. Provided me with all the information I needed to make an informed decision. We had to put him down, it was rough but they gave us time and made him comfortable. Never felt rushed! Showed compassion while providing the information we needed to make the choices we did. Rest In Peace, you made me a better person Rudy!
We called at 2:00 am to see if they could get our cat in. The staff explained they were at capacity and recommended calling again at 8:00 am but that Oly Pet Emergency was taking patients. The staff we spoke to were nice and we appreciated the recommendation to Oly Pet Emergency. Both emergency clinics are overwhelmed with the volume of animals needing medical attention and Are doing the best they can to accommodate pet owners.
The staff and veterinarian were incredible. Our little guy got sick so quickly we had no time to prepare. The staff was so kind and the doctor helped us to understand all of our options. We are forever grateful to OVS.
Both times we have had an emergency, this office is closed due to staff calling out. Absolutely wild to travel with an injured dog to a 24/7 fully staffed ER clinic and it’s closed.
Dr. Huffman and the staff at OVS took great care of our little cat at a late night emergency visit after she injured her paw. They were calm and compassionate, they kept me up to date and made sure I didnt have any surprise charges. Thank you for taking care of Stevie!
Dr. Scott Gustafson is brilliant! Did an amazing job on dog Honey cleft surgery! No regrets. My dog health and quality of life has improved dramatically. Thanks to staff for excellent care!
I left a message with this Oncology Dept. On Monday morning at 7:00 am asking for a callback to get my dog in emergently. I provided a brief explanation that the ER vet had found a mass on her spleen on Sunday. I assumed they know that this type of cancer is prone to ruptures which causes your pet to bleed out thus the sense of urgency.Did not recieve even a call back unti today, Thursday, 2 days to late. I guess they have gotten big enough not to care if they lose one or two.Side note, I spent over 10k at this facility for my other dog. I was not a new customer. Do not expect any return loyalty folks!
This place took the time to exam, explained what was going on with our little chihuahua and provided us with a proper diagnosis and all the details and what we needed to help our little girl. In all honesty they saved her life. We took our dog to get regular vet 2 days before and was given wrong diagnosis. I am so blessed that we have an emergency vet in Olympia that families can count on and actually take the time to exam and listen to the pets owner. I highly recommend using this place if you ever find yourself in a situation for her fur babies.
On Dec 12, 2020 I took my best friend Pookie for emergency services at OVS. Pookie was walking in circles, into wall, falling down, and excessively whimpering. They didnt even get my Pookies name right. Dr. kept calling him cookie. Dr. Said labs were fine and sent use home with eye drops and about a $600 bill. My Pookie died the next day after a night of suffering.
O. V. S are the BEST of veterinary care around, We highly recommend them. Recently my brother was out fishing and his Baby Girl decided to chase someones hook while casting. The hook caught her in the eye . He had to get her to a vet asap. OVS worked with him financially so she could get immediate care. Babygirl felt their caring & gentleness and let them get to work. They were so loving, so much so in no time she was happily rid of pain and on her way out the door. The eye healed perfectly and it didnt require an arm & leg and they truely cared that she needed help urgently and started doing all they could to help and we knew they acted first with their heart of compassion, thats more than some we called. BabyGirl healed perfectly and you cant see any scaring or trauma and we say Thank You so Much to ALL OF YOU AT OVS FROM BABYGIRL & DENNIS MCENTYRE
I am sitting here absolutely heartbroken. My cat showed signs of labour starting when I found drops of amniotic fluid on the floor at 11:30 pm Saturday evening. I called the Olympic Vet Specialists at 7:31 Sunday morning because her labour was not not progressing and wanted to bring her in. The receptionist asked the vet and told me that she said I should not worry. At that point fetal movement was very strong. At approx. 10:50 Sunday morning I called back very concerned because there had been no change. Again the receptionist spoke with the vet, who told her to tell me to go online and read up on feline pregnancy and delivery, I found this suggestion to be very demeaning and insulting. I put my trust in that vet and did not pursue it any further believing that she was ok and the symptoms were normal. I did the same on Monday. Tues I noticed that fetal movement was extremely weak and rushed her into a very nearly an hour away. Xray showed two oversized kittens. I asked for a c-section and when the kittens were born they were very weak.I took them home, saw that they were latching on and went about my day. I would peak in every so often but tried to not disturb because of the stressful delivery. Thursday afternoon I found that one of the kittens had passed. Two days later I weighed the second kitten and discovered that she had lost weight since delivery and was in serious trouble. Turns out that due to the trauma of the delayed delivery, that the kittens were too weak to nurse and Mama was not producing enough milk as a result, so the babies were starving to death.I found someone who was able to help her, but this morning I got the call that she too had passed.I had put my trust in that vet, who without seeing the pregnant mother had decided that instead of asking me to bring her in, said that there was no problem. Then later when I called back she insulted my intelligence by telling me to go and read up on cat pregnancy and delivery. This was a healthy young cat who had successfully delivered two healthy litters. They probably would have survived a c-section had it been done early Sunday morning after I called the first time. Now here I am, just 9 days before the 32 anniversary of the passing of my daughter, a death that could have been avoided had the medical community not made a mistake, and I am not only dealing with the trauma of losing both kittens but the pain of experiencing neonatal death caused by a poor decision made by the doctor.
They are awesome, we have a puppy with parvo and went in the middle of the night C.C. was great and very educated compared to our normal vet. Thank you for doing such a great job
My dog got a laceration late Sunday night and OVS was able to get me right in. They gave me a cost estimate that was reasonable and took the precaution of adding everything that way there would hopefully be no surprises on the bill. The stitches and staples held and his injuries healed good. When his time came to get them out, we called and they were at capacity and told me to keep checking back. It took them a couple hours to free up space, however when it was our time they got him in and out! I wish I could give 5 stars but when we got home there was a removed staple that was left in his fur. So lack of attention wasn’t 100%. But thank you Olympia Vet Specialist.
Professional. Caring. Gentle. Kind. They have provided exceptional care for our two Doberman brother and sister that BOTH required TPLO surgery. Each person we interacted with had our pets best interest/care at the fore front. Beyond pleased that we were recommended to OVS. Patient with our many questions, kind in answering all of those questions in everyday terms so that we understood exactly what was to be expected. Dr. Olsen is professional yet personable. We are over the top with how everything has worked out for our pups. Clearly one of the regions best if not the best. Words fail to describe our gratitude from our experiences with OVS. Thank you for taking care of our pups.
Dr Chris George from internal medicine and his team are amazing, very committed to helping his patient. My dog was very sick and we have been to several hospitals and clinics trying to figure out what was causing him to be so sick and Dr Chris George found the the cause of his illness. I want to thank the staff and Dr Ringenberg for their kind compassionate care that they gave to me and my little 12-year-old Chihuahua, Max. I brought him to the clinic because he had collapsed at home and was dying. He had a heart condition and the event was sudden. Upon arrival they were quick taking him to the doctor for evaluation and we didn’t have to wait long to come inside the clinic to be with him while he was euthanized. Needless to say my heart was broken but people like this that care for animals and their owners made a very difficult time bearable. I am going to miss him terribly but the last memory I have is positive one thanks to Olympia Veterinary Specialists.
Dr. Eason, cardiologist, is one of the best medical providers. He is incredibly intelligent, compassionate, empathetic and kind. I had been taking my cat, Aristotle, to him for the past few years. Aristotle had a variety of health conditions, including congestive heart failure, chronic kidney disease and diabetes. Throughout the course of his disease, Dr. Eason was heavily involved and interested in his case. Each time I worked with my local vet we would share information with him and he would take the information into consideration and determine whether changes needed to be made. He always understood and recognized that Aristotle meant the world to me and I was willing to do anything to help keep him healthy and happy. Dr. Eason was always very honest with me, especially when things started to take a turn for the worse. With compassion and kindness he helped manage my expectations, but continued to do everything he could to help keep Aristotle alive with a good quality of life. After my beloved best friend, Aristotle, passed away, Dr. Eason reached out to me and left me a beautiful heartfelt voicemail, which was very touching to me. He followed up via email and even provided me with the name and contact information of a grievance counselor. Dr. Eason was a strong foundation for me and Aristotle. We trusted him and knew that he always had his best interest at heart. I would recommend Dr. Eason until the end of time and I am so blessed to have found him during Aristotles journey. We will continue to seek his medical advice for any of our future fur babies. Thank you does not seem like enough. I feel indebted to him for all that he did. I am sorry that it took me this long (Aristotle passed on April 26th, a day forever etched in my heart and soul) to write this review; however, the grieving process has taken me time to be able to think and write about both Aristotle and Dr. Eason without crying. But I am thankful for the angels like Dr. Eason as they prove that this world is filled with good and human beings. Thank you, Dr. Eason. I sincerely appreciate all that you did for Aristotle and me. We sincerely love you!!
An emergency room that doesnt actually see new patients. Pretty cool concept.
Our border collie needed an emergency C section. We called them and the said to bring her in. We live an hour away. When we got there they said they couldnt help and the lady wanted to argue about who told us to go there, basically calling me a liar. Finally I yelled at her and said what matters is where I can take my dog now! She finally gave me a suggestion and I hung up!
Not bad - if you have all day to wait for them to see and treat your pet.
Excellent care, knowledgeable, caring with my Great Danes. Nice people too.
I have never experienced more compassionate care for my pets. Thank you for making the worst night I could imagine so peaceful for myself and my beloved Milo. He was normally TERRIFIED at the vet and I didn’t want that for his final moments. He was truly calm and I can’t thank you enough for that. For your patience giving us all the time we needed with him. Thank you for a calm comfortable setting to spend my last few minutes with him.
These people are absolutely rude and robotic like. They show NO sympathy for pet owners. They wont even talk to you on the phone. They absolutely REFUSE to say anything to you on the phone. You have to go in in person. You can not even ask them how much pumpkin to feed your pet to help with constipation over the phone. They refuse to say anything at all to even give you any idea on where to start for your pet... The only ONLY good thing about this place is that they are open 24 hours so if you have an emergency and a way there you can get your pet treated.
I’ve never had such a positive experience with a vet like this. With my previous experiences Usually it’s right off the bat I feel like I’m being sold. Prices are outrageous and for minuscule things. Taking advantage of my or anyone’s panic. But with this place they are doing everything they can for my boy. And keeping me calm with the feeling that he’s being taken care of immediately even with a booked emergency room. Not only that, but even getting an understanding of what I could afford before starting and giving me the best course of action with that budget.I am absolutely astonished to the service. This trip to the vet was critical and with the funds being low they were still able to give him the treatment he needed.I am so grateful. Thank you.
Took my cat here to get a consultation for a spay. Waited in the car for 2 hours while they attempted to take blood first from her leg, then her neck. In the process she got completely covered in alcohol. Now they want to charge me a total of $300? $100 for the consultation and the rest for blood work. The vet i usually take my cats to (unfortunately they dont do the type of surgery i need there) only charges 50 for blood work. The surgeon was also extremely concerned with my decision to do a laproscopic spay vs a standard one. It is the better option, why would i not? I was really excited to find a place in Oly that does laproscopic spays, however i will be driving my cat to Seattle or Portland for care i know i can trust. I was willing to give this place the benefit of the doubt until i read the rest of these reviews. Be warned.
This place completely fails to help you understand whats going on, what they are doing, what they are looking for, and why. After handing them 5000 dollars, they kept us in the dark. They kept saying that wed get a call back from the doctor, and then they never call back. So we keep calling back because we need to understand. They eventually send test results to us, but nobody reads them to us nor explains what they mean, and what it means to the overall diagnosis process, what the next steps should be, etc. On top of that, a tech - who are the only ones that will talk to you (but cant answer the questions we really have, not read or interpret test results) mislead us into thinking that critical blood levels were stable when they werent because they werent testing to find out. We later found out they were not stable at all when they finally did test it. This upset us, and their response after that was that they essentially decided we called too much - were too aggressively advocating for our pet, and refused continued care. They told us to go away and find another hospital, and that they would not help us again. The pet was still in critical condition, and they even refused to fill medication for us. People are scared, stressed out, and very passionate when it comes to a dying pet - if OVS cant communicate whats going on, that only makes it worse, and if they cant handle passionate owners that advocate strongly for their pets, then they should not be in the critical care industry.
They make dealing with pet insurance difficult. My other clinic talks directly to the insurance company in regards to any medical questions, but not this clinic. Ill be going elsewhere.
I went there for emergency care. I was the only one in the parking lot but took 30 minutes for them to come out. And was told they were very busy and understaffed and would probably not be able to do much if my dog had blocked bowel. I took the vitals and did do a rectal exam, no x-ray. I left feeling very unsure of the status of the health of my dog.For emergency care I would say you’re wasting your time going here.
Thank you to Olympia Veterinary Specialists for the kindness and care they showed to my boy cat Jersey. We recieved excellent care from everyone and I would come back in a heart beat.It was Jerseys time to go and they couldnt have been kinder. Thank you for a great experience.
My dog was suffering and no vets close to us were seeing patients(covid). They were so sweet, came and got him did the exam and then came to get me. He was dying his body temp had dropped. When I was brought inside they wheeled him into me on a table all covered in blankets even had a hot water bottle next to him to keep him comfortable, his transition was painless. They even made a plaster paw print for me!
Was turned away from Olympia Pet Emergency because they were too busy and was told to go to Olympia Veterinary Specialists. I was only 10 mins away from OVS- Called ahead of time and they said they could see my dog. Waited over an hour, they took him back for about an hour, then told me they were too busy to help him and turned me BACK TO Olympia Pet Emergency!!! What made me so upset about this experience was that they charged me for turning me away... They NEVER helped my dog. I WILL NEVER GO HERE EVER... charging me for doing nothing.... SMH.
Compassionate reasonably priced care. Thank you!
I received not only great service from this clinic but so much compassion for my dog as well. I got lucky and went on a day that they weren’t super busy but honestly I’ll be going there even if they are and I can afford to wait because they were that great with communication, instruction and information. They are up front about being a trauma center and tell you right away what the fees will be if they have to sedate, give CPR etc. and gave me handout with all the facts. The Vet working on my dog not only did his job but went the extra mile to be friendly when speaking to me and give my dog Jane, love instead of just medical care. I never felt rushed or unimportant.I would highly recommend this clinic for your emergency needs.
This place has really done everything they can to help our family! They fixed up my cat on xmas eve one year and have seen my doberman twice because I am a paranoid dog mom. If I could give them a million stars I would. Considering they are emergency the pricing is extremely reasonable. Thank you for all you do!
My friends dog was hurt and they came to this place for peace of mind and help. Only to be left heart broken and scared for their fur babies life. READ THE REVIEWS OF OTHERS. DO NOT TAKE YOUR BABIES HERE.
My pet Mario was dying of Osteosarcoma in the early morning of March 14 2021. They were very professional and acted expeditiously to eliminate his pain. I owe them a debt of gratitude.
We had to take one of our dogs here on a Friday evening as he became too sick to wait for his appointment with his vet on Monday. Everyone in the front office was incredibly kind, and the wait, per the front office people, seemed much shorter than the other emergency vet in the area, which had told me 6-8 hours. My husband took our dog and I stayed home with our kids since no one can go in anyway and my kids and I were all really emotional about our dog being so sick. They told my husband that our dog would only receive care if he was deemed critical. After they checked my dog, the vet recommended some tests, but I had some questions about why and what was going on and if we needed to do the tests now or if we could wait til Monday. My husband told me the number they gave him when they told him to call back with any questions after they gave us the price quote. I called and asked to speak with whomever it was that I needed to talk to about my dog. I ended up on the phone with Dr. Ward. She was shockingly rude. Had we had any other options at this point, I would have taken my dog from her care immediately. No one has an animal in an emergency vets office because they are having a great day. She told me that having to speak to me was frustrating and that I obviously had my dog their for a reason (basically saying I should just do what she says with no questions). She told me that they were busy and she didnt want me to be upset or for her to be upset but that she didnt have the time for things like this. I understand that my emotions were heightened, but I will absolutely never take my animal to be seen by someone who lacks compassion and sees no problem telling people how frustrating it is for them to want clarification about what is going on with their animal. We paid the hundreds of dollars for the tests because it wasnt about money. Im thankful for the work they do at this office and I cannot imagine how difficult it is during a pandemic, but if I ever have the choice, I will keep my animals as far away from Michelle Ward as is humanly possible. It hurts my heart to imagine her getting similarly frustrated with my scared animal, and I wont risk that. But, if youre out of options and need someone to keep your pet from dying. This office is fine. Just dont expect compassion or any level of customer service from the actual vets.
Kept dog long after serves were completed while we waited int the parking lot.
Its the only emergency vet on the west side and they wouldnt see my cat having seizures that hadnt peed in over 50 hours.
We were referred to OVS and Dr. Brad Green by our primary care vet for a MRI. After our 3 year old cat Hamilton developed acute kidney failure in early November. Dr Green and his awesome staff went above and beyond in taking care of him and his needs. During these covid times its appreciated when youre given updates frequently and promptly after labs and procedures. Especially since your not physically your pet. Its awesome when the staff takes a detailed health history, asks about concerns and does everything possible to make a pet medical procedure easy for the pet and the humans waiting in the car. Our appointment lasted all day on a nasty day. A big THANK YOU to Dr. Green, Jen, Nicole, Scarlett and the rest of the staff for everything they did for our cat Hamilton and us. They really came through. THANK YOU 🐈 ❤
My mom had to have her beloved Shih Tzu Barney put down a couple of weeks ago. I am so grateful for OVS and the fact that they are allowing people to say goodbye to their pets. From the moment they arrived they were empathetic and so kind to my mom which helped make an incredibly painful night just a tad less awful. They sent a beautiful card and we were so happy with the clay paw print and the beautiful box in which we reviewed his ashes. Thank you, OVS.
Amazing staff! They genuinely care about your pet! We brought our dog in for an emergency on a Sunday when our vet wasnt open, even though it took some time, the front office staff gave us updates when they could. The front desk staff were so fantastic! They remembered details about your pet, were busy doing paperwork, keeping the waiting area stocked and neat, and checking that the parking lot was tidy too! They were always super friendly and sympathetic. We had to both hold back tears after a few really emotional checkouts. Also the facility seemed clean and well maintained.
They are knowledgeable, compassionate, and wonderful. They took their time and told us everything. I know they did everything they could for our Lola (from ER, to cancer clinic, to surgery); and for that, we are eternally grateful. When her time had come, they gave us the knowledge and space that we needed to make our difficult decision. Thank you for doing the best for our girl.
I unfortunately had to put my cat to sleep. When I got to the place they made me stay in my car. My daughter had gone with me and was going to hold my cats paw until the end. Well, they never came out to get her and my boy had to be all alone. COVID-19 or not, that was hard to take.
My partner and I are so grateful for the care Olympia Veterinary Specialists showed us and our baby cat Ditto. We will be returning for the care of all our animals and recommend them to anyone. When our baby passed we got a handwritten note and a card and that really means a lot to us, Thank you all so much,Sincerely, Kate and Aaron
Im not planning to go back to this hospital. I took my dog here on a Friday afternoon for an emergency when I wasnt able to get in to see my regular vet. At that time, I felt like he got good care at a VERY extravagant price. One of the things they did was to send out some lab work. They said they would call me in a day or two with the results. I hadnt heard 3 days later so I called them. Because of the holiday weekend they didnt have the results back. I waited 2 days and called them again. The technician said they would have the vet call me with the results. I waited home all day for that call which never came. So, I called them again. I was put on hold for about 15 minutes when I finally talked to a vet who was not friendly at all. Id rather spend my money someplace where they are friendly and do what they say about returning calls.
I called first, my dogs got into chocolate. The person on the phone asked what type and how much. She then put the information into a calculator snd told us to come in immediately. When we arrived, COVID protocol, we checked in over the phone. After getting all the details again, she told us to call poison control and get a case #. They would need poison control to consult with on treatment. Oh yeah, and it will cost me $85 (maybe per dog) to call poison control. If you are within a certain window, you induce vomiting. We went to another ER.
UPDATE: THIS WAS NOT THE VET I VISITED THAT DAY SORRY IT WAS THE OTHER ER VET IN OLYMPIA.My dog had to have a minor surgery and be put under for it.... when we picked her up the lady going over the at home instructions didnt tell me not to feed my dog! As a matter of fact she said I could go ahead and feed my dog wet food. By doing that my dog got extremely bloated because the sedation medicine slows down the digestive system. My dog wasnt able to digest the food it was given and was VERY SICK because of it. It cost me another almost $500 the next day!! My dog now has major anxiety and has to see a behaviorist!!!
Today my dog had an injury from playing with her lil brother. I was so freaked out because her dewclaw was broken all the way back and she wasnt wanting to walk on it. The staff at the emergency clinic were right on it. They were kind to us and got my babygirl fixed up in no time!. I sincerely thank each and everyone who helped my Lakota today.
First off I am thankful for a 24 hr vet. My complaint I believe is policy and procedure driven. They take your animal, in my case my dog, they triage it and depending upon need get to them when able. So 645 PM my dog goes in for possible bowel obstruction having vomited all day and last vomit looked like fecal and coffee grounds aka blood, where all other vomit was bile. 815pm I call for an update. Nice tech comes out says they are slammed but my dog did vomit and they took the sample for the Dr. 1012 PM Dr calls nothing has been done for my dog up to this point except vitals and clean up vomit. Dr. Says she just gave her something for na sea. Dr. Agrees it is possible blockage after asking multiple questions. We discuss care plan and quotes possible price 3500.00, but would have front staff call with more exact price. I had just lost my other dog of 17 years exactly one week earlier with a ruptured spleen tumor we had no idea he had. Additionally earlier that day they placed my dad on hospice after losing my mom just 4 months earlier. So obviously I said do whatever you can. So I get a call 2 minutes later from the front desk asking me for a form of payment for 3698.12 That shocked me as I dont even pay up front for a meal or any other services by my vet. I told the lady I am like what are you talking about. This us just an estimate you dont know what you are going to have to do the dr hasnt even ran diagnostics. She transferred me back to the vet who apologized for the miscommunications and says they take the estimate and refund what they dont use. In my mind I am thinking no one ever gets a refund. I am like ok she is here you have to give me a minute to get payment. We have a designated emergency credit card. I call my husband at home he gives me the number I relay that to front desk. It is declined because of 2 reasons we hardly ever use our cc and when we do it isnt for large transactions. The front desk lady at the vet knew this issue because when a cc is declined for NSF it says as much and ours did not. She said I would need to call my bank and authorize the payment and call back when we had it fixed.. So guess what my bank is not open in the middle of the night and the people that I called said they were only there in emergency to shut your card off if stolen. Call back during business hours for transaction issues. So I go home at 1030 without my dog and no definitive diagnosis. 149 am I get a call from the Dr. We cant do anything for your dog until we have some money. I cant believe my ears, and think I have not fully woken up yet and ask to repeat. She again says we are waiting on a form of payment to begin diagnostic procedures on your dog. My blood pressure shot through the roof but I remained calm and told her that the front desk knew that I had to call my bank to get approval. So then she says well to get diagnosis we need 898.00 can you pay that right now. I am like yes. Anything to get my dog seen 7 hours later. So I pay 900.00 even. I wait and wait for a call with a diagnosis. 815am I get a call from a rude vet tech saying that they cant do anything else for my dog because we are 22.00 over the 900.00. I am like what is wrong with her. The tech says I am not a Dr. I cant tell you what is wrong, but I need more money. So desperate to keep my dog alive not knowing what is wrong I have my husband call them because he has the credit card and has called the bank to authorize the transaction. He calls the take his money I call back and I get scolded by the staff because my husband has called not me and made a payment. Keep in mind my husband is at work and I am at home caring for my dad on hospice. Again I get I am only a tech. The Dr will call you around noon or 1 to tell u what is wrong. They have my dog, my money and I have nothing.
If I could give this place a Zero Star rating I would. My dog was hit by a car. We took him in to get looked over. They charged us reasonable fees (a little over $900) to have an ultrasound done, x-rays, an assessment, antibiotics sent home, and pain medications administered at the clinic. They claimed they took x-rays of my dog, and stated that he had air around his lungs and they would like to place a tube to get it out, but then stated that wasnt always necessary since sometimes the air worked itself out. (Great, thank you for giving me the options, and letting me know that it could possibly fix itself.) We left the vet clinic with our dog, knowing that he didnt have any broken bones, air around his lungs, and that he would be in a lot of pain. They gave us antibiotics to take home. They didnt give us a pain med prescription, and they didnt suture up any wounds...or clean them. I then took my dog to my regular vet the next day, Monday. I told them where we had taken him for an emergency, and they requested the information. And x-rays. They only got the clinical findings, no X-rays. I called multiple times to try to get a copy of the xrays for myself and a copy to the vet. They kept telling me they would email them. They never did. For days. I called again and they said that they would forward the message to the care team and have them call me back. They never did. I then called again. And they stated that they couldnt find the xrays and that they were misplaced. I called again today to talk to a manager to either get a refund (did they even really do the xrays that they cant produce?) Or to have him re- xrayed without charge since they misplaced them. And my other vet needs the x-rays, because I cant afford currently to fork out another several hundred dollars for more xrays. They told me a manager will be in maybe tomorrow, maybe Friday, maybe Saturday. And that they would forward my concern to management. I am still waiting for them to return my call or to find the xrays.
My opinion. It was all about the money not the animal.Secondly it was all about more money and tests at another location.
My dear German Shepherd Maketa was hurt and had a pretty huge laceration on her right front paw 7/31/2020 and was bleeding badly!! Of course since I don’t have any kids of my own she is my baby!!! I was so scared for her and myself, I was freaking!!!! The vet Techs and Dr. was the most compassionate, caring and reassuring to me and my baby!! They took her right in to be evaluated and she was taken care of and supported by the staff!! This was my first time ever having to take her to any emergency vet hospital and this place was the best!! Thank you to everyone for caring and being compassionate people!! YOU CAN TELL THEY TRULY LOVE ANIMALS AND CARE!!! You did such an awesome job and the staff is awesome, very caring!! I can’t thank you enough!! Maketa is doing well and she say thank you too!! 🥰❤️🥰
Fast and efficient and the cost very reasonable. They also put her in car and gave us instructions and all and I had to ask twice about paying . Not money hungry that’s for sure.
Inept money grabbing facility. Every hour they were asking for more money before even seeing the Dog. Saying she would need Bloodwork, Ultrasounds, all this extra stuff pressuring us to agree to all these costs. My Wife has been there for almost 12 Hours. We told them almost 3 hours ago after quoting us a minimum of $4500 for Surgery to splint her we will get a 2nd opinion. Apparently splinting her takes 3 hours? If you want incompetent pet care this is the place for you.
Terrible experience with our puppy. Our dog broke his leg and the vet never suggested or asked about using a cone to keep him from chewing his cast. We didn’t receive any discharge instructions. When we brought him back 5 days later because the cast was falling off, they charged us $160 with no itemized receipt and took three and a half hours to fix this. Really awful service and communication.
They lack compassion and communication. You will be better off going somewhere else.
I am very grateful to Olympia Veterinary Specialists, and their cancer center. Dr. Parshley and her staff, Tammy, Monica, and all were very helpful and kind throughout my cats cancer. He was treated very well, and they are extremely good at their jobs. If you need a specialist, this is the place. The emergency staff were also very helpful and kind all through this.
I am writing this review to try and help any dog owners that find themselves in the situation I was in a couple months ago. I have an almost 6 year old Pit mix who is very active and loves to run. In the end of February 2019 he tore his right hind leg CCL (similar to ACL in the knee of humans) from normal running in the yard. I took him to my primary vet and had him checked and scheduled for surgery about 3.5 weeks out (earliest appt I could get). Then, of course, he tore his left hind leg CCL about 6 days prior to surgery for his right. This is somewhat common as they are overcompensating on the good leg. My primary vet only does surgery on one leg at a time so I was referred to OVS for a second opinion on doing both legs at the same time. Details were as follows: 1 leg at a time would mean surgery, 6-8 weeks recovery and then surgery 2 with 6-8 more weeks of recovery. Cost was about $6300 split into 2 bills. Both legs would mean a slightly longer surgery and more intensive 6-8 weeks recovery due to needing more assistance to do things and getting around. Cost was about $5400 out the door. We did discuss the associated risks with any surgery but those being risk of infection, longer anesthesia time or going under for 2 procedures, one leg being worse than the other and so on.After meeting with both surgeons, I opted for both legs at the same time as it was the right fit for us. He was scheduled for surgery about 4 days later and I could not be happier with my experience with Dr. Hoots and OVS. I was emailed a detailed report after each appt and their system is seamless. I had all my questions answered and was able to meet with Dr. Hoots at every appt to make sure I was getting top care. My boy is about 2 months out and is doing absolutely great! He is back to about 90% function in terms of walking, jogging, light running, and jumping in and out of the car. He has not gone completely off leash yet but that Again, I really could not be happier with my choice and I advise everyone to do their research and pick whatever option is best for the both of you but I highly suggest OVS. A huge thank you to Dr. Hoots and the OVS team from myself and Masuka!Pictures below are labeled to show progress.
The photo in this review is a picture I took of my Lucy right after I picked her up from surgery at this specific clinic. Before surgery, they ran a culture test which concluded my dog had no bacteria or viruses present in her system. But during her 60 hour stay at OVS after surgery, they sent my dog home with no discharge papers, no post-operative instructions. Just the news that my dog managed to catch MRSA and a skin eating disese after surgery. Unsantitary conditions at this vet possibly? Anyway, the virus ate away at my dogs surgery incision until staples popped out, her stomach opened up, and she died painfully. I still do not understand why my dog was sent home in this condition with no explantation or medication to fight the MRSA and skin eating virus. My 20 plus calls to this explaining my dogs stomach was opening, staples were falling out, and she was puking blood meant nothing. Everytime, I was told to feed her unseasoned hamburger and keep her hydrated.
Wasnt happy with fee got charge a fee for over $100 just to glance at him and another $65 to put him down and that was with me bringing him home to bury him it would have been another $100 if they did it
I’ll never come back here. This emergency clinic shouldn’t be in practice based on the care they provide. When you offer a service in this field there should be a certain level of professionalism... they totally lack this. I’ll drive to another state before I ever attempt this place again. My cat could have died from sepsis had I not found him care somewhere else right away.So all in all, I was blown off, spoken to in an incredibly condescending way and dismissed with absolutely no treatment. 12 hours later- my animal was under sedation with a septic joint requiring wash out, a cast, antibiotics, and a full day of monitoring.
What more can you expect from a veterinary hospital? Is it costly? Sure, but I think thats relative, especially considering the circumstances of what would make you need to take your pet in to an emergency center. Our cat Oliver had what sounds like essentially a cat heart attack on August 22nd. He required a 2nd trip back a few days later because he was still having problems. Our total bill for two trips + a cardiologist appointment wasnt cheap, but thats why responsible pet owners have pet insurance.Everyone that we spoke and interacted with treated us with compassion, treated our cat with care, and most importantly, saved his life. It has now been a month and a half since he was on deaths doorstep and honestly, youd never know it happened based on how he behaves today. Hes completely back to his old self.OVS saved our cats life, pure and simple. They did it without being able to ask him questions, without a previous medical history, and without knowing exactly what the problem was the moment we arrived with him in his carrier. Oh, and they did it in the middle of a pandemic. Pretty impressive what vets can do unlike human medicine where you have a coherent and responsive patient with a medical history.Weve since been reimbursed 90% of our expenses and our family is still intact. There wasnt a better possible outcome than the one we got, and its all thanks to the great people at OVS. We went there thinking he was going to have to be put down, and bracing for that reality which, luckily, never manifested. We owe OVS far more than the bills- were forever in your debt for every extra day that we get with out little fur baby.Thank you, OVS!
Whoever answered the phone when I called in the middle of the night last night, thank you. You were so kind and knowledgeable and grounded and helped talk me through my dog’s symptoms when I was too scared to think straight. I can’t speak to the actual services because I didn’t end up needing to bring my puppy in, but if the man on the phone was absolutely fabulous ! Good at working with both dogs and freaked out humans :-)
Dr. Olson is a awesome doc. And staff members are so great they took great care of my baby who had hip surgery
This vet office was one of the only ones that one see my dog. Although I am great full for that, they were very persistent on doing surgery instead of doing a scope first. I never got to see my dogs x-ray to see if he actually had a blockage. They are money hungry and quite honestly I don’t think they care for animals. They wouldn’t even give me the option for a scope. $850 and 5 hours of waiting for them to bring my dog out to me after telling them I didn’t want the surgery. Overall not a good experience. I will not be back i’d rather drive to Oregon maybe they will actually care about animals and not just money.
Most attentive and compassionate service for end of life. Better than other emergency services vet in lacey.
The care was ok but beware of your pocket book. They will convince you that more tests are needed and the price is way overinflated. They will charge you for every single thing they can. Stitches ended up costing me $4,000 compared to $900 dollars I spent at my local vet for a similar experience. We went there because we have no emergency 24 hour vet in our area but next time I will wait till morning and go to the local vet. They waited till the next afternoon before they stitched up my dog anyway and it cost a fortune.
This is the most cold hearted place on the planet! No compassion whatsoever! My boy has been in there all alone for 8+ hours.Dr calls me at 3:45 and Im still outside waiting to be with my boy and hold him while he crosses the Rainbow 🌈 !All they are worried about is the money $240 bucks just for an injection 3 hours had already gone by at this point then they want $ 750 more before they will do ex-ray and blood tests which was the MOST important part of his visit. We were here by 11:30 am and its now 4:59 and Im still not with my baby!!Ive called twice they just dont get it!They really do not care for the animals at all.All they care about is the all mighty dollar!
We had need of an emergency Vet late at night for our 5 week old kitten and had to drive an hour and a half to get help. Olympia Veterinary Specialists did not disappoint! They were quite accurate with their diagnosis, reasonable for services rendered and very compassionate with both us and our kitten. I believe it was Kelesy who helped us and she was fantastic to work with. With great people like this Ill for sure be sending anyone in need their way!
I am extremely upset. I had taken my cat in to this place days ahead of his euthanization to save him. He was not only not diagnosed correctly, but they sent him home to basically die the same day I brought him in the first time. I had two different bills. And not only all of this, but one of the doctors that ended up euthanizing my cat didn’t mute their phone and was talking poorly of my decision I had no choice for. If I could have spent $3,000 to save him the first visit I would have, if I’d been told he was being sent home to die. At least I got to go inside and say my goodbye😢
The staff is so patient and kind, you can tell that they really care about their pet patients and the pet owners!
So happy we have this resource in our community. I have been a dog owner for years and have (unfortunately) had several visits to overnight emergency services. This place was the best I have experienced. They gave me options and were very kind to my dog (and me too). I felt like I could make a decision based upon the options they offered. I would absolutely use them again.
Wanted to thank Dr. Mouat for going that extra mile and staying late today after hours to perform surgery of a broken Femur for a very special dog Henry Dr. Mouat gave us total confidence with clarification of everything from any veterinarian that I have ever experienced. She took the time after a very long day of surgeries to call us personally with a clear explanation of the surgery and anything you would of wanted to ask, she covered without us having to ask...... That is compassion and I would recommend her to anyone that might need these services. You can tell that Dr. Mouat loves what she does. Thank you again, much appreciation to you!
Olympia Veterinary Specialists were extremely rude to me when I told them my cat needed intravenous potassium due to their mis-prescribing a medication on a prior visit (their error almost killed my cat). At any rate, I aked them to give her intravenous potassium and call me when her blood levels had normalized. 10 hours later, when I went to pick her up from their clinic, they handed me a bill for over $1,000. To my dismay, instead of giving my cat intravenous potassium, they performed a very risky medical procedure that I never agreed to and the cat didnt need (it was completely unrelated to what I brought her in to treat). The next day, I took my cat to a different veterinary clinic. Fortunately, they agreed to administer intravenous potassium, which rapidly brought my cat back to life. Of course I knew it would because there are a bunch of youtube videos describing what was wrong with her and how to treat this disorder. If it hadnt been for others having the thoughtfulness to post these videos, my cat would be dead right now.
Horrible experience with this place. First I was bullied into coming here by my original vet saying they were the only ones in town that could do the surgery my dog needed. Unfortunately I took the advice. Olympia Vet Specialists scheduled me an appointment and quoted me $4k for a surgery initially for a humorous fracture. Then, once they had my dog in care (FOR HOURS AND HOURS doctors are always behind) they price increased to over $4k when I asked why they told me they initially quoted me for an Ulna bone not the humorous... 🤔 which doctor looked at the wrong bone with the xrays for the first quote? I started losing trust took my dog home and said I had to think about it. Once I said I didnt agree with their prices they said my dog might not need surgery at all so I left gave my dog 4 weeks to heal then came back for a follow up xray which they xrayed a completely different area of the dogs leg! I asked if they could have the doctor call and explain the xrays to me and didnt hear back through email so I called and they told me the doctor was too busy to talk and the would call me back. Never heard anything still to this day weeks later nobody has reached out. Im thankful I didnt spend more than a few hundred dollars here or let alone let them cut my dog open. They dont know what they are doing. They seem to only want to make money they dont care about the patients actual wellbeing. Take your pets somewhere else. Too many bad reviews on this vet.
So far so good. I go for the Internal Medicine department. I appreciate Dr. Moon, and staff there. They love my dog like he was their own, they told me about how he got to be a lap dog after his surgery and hang out with the staff. For a dog with major separation anxiety, it is a relief that he is not anxious and worked up when he has to go there, he likes them, he isnt his usual nervous self when I pick him up. Its a great peace of mind. They were able to determine he did not have acid re-flux but some form of Gastrointestinal disease, or IBD. Dr. Moon was able to get a formulated home made diet for me to try, cured the vomiting, created some other issues. It is an ongoing process, but like I said so far so good. He had his endoscopy and along this nearly month journey so far, they have answered any and all questions I have had. PLUS theyre open 24 hours, so if I cant make it in to pick him up or get medicine refilled before normal business hours, they just have it on hold for the receptionists to grab for me. Its nice. the ONLY thing that irritated me was that they forgot I was there the first time to pick my dog up, and had me wait nearly 60 minutes (they helped someone else 3 minutes after they walked in and the receptionist had to remind them I was waiting for over 45 minutes at that point) and then forgot to give me my meds, costing me another trip back.
OVS was highly recommended from other Police K9 handlers I respect. Dr Hoots went beyond my expectations! I would recommend OVS.
I was forced due to it being a Sunday to take my cat into this place to be seen. After signing in (front desk guy was the ONLY saving grace in the establishment we dealt with) they took my cat back to be examined. After a few minutes they came and got my ex-wife and I and brought us into a big exam room and my cat was nowhere to be seen. The tech had a sheet of paper with her and with one motion handed over with a line similar to heres an estimate for what we want to do followed by a line similar to we cant tell whats wrong from just the exam. the estimate was between $700-$2000. We told the tech what we were willing to do and wed take her to the primary vet in the morning. Shortly after the tech left the doctor entered and expressed with no sign of compassion for us or our cat that she felt keeping my cat was the better option. I took my cat home and she passed away that night before I could get her to her primary vet. While using the word critical in their report of her condition there was a definite lack of compassion. They said they would send there evaluation to my primary vet and as of noon today almost 5 days later they do not have that eval. I highly recommend NO ONE takes there beloved pet here.
I had a 3 month old puppy peeing blood took her in on a Sunday because my vet was not open, they couldnt get a urine sample so sent us home with items to get it. Returned the next day at 9:30am never heard anything so I called at 4:30 pm to check on the sample and they said that there were more important animals first before they tested my puppys urine sample. Now here it is the next day and I still havent gotten any results. Paid 95 dollars the first day and they said bring the sample in with no extra charge and then when I dropped it off the next day they said it would be an extra charge after telling me it wouldnt cost more!!! I will never rely on this vet to save my animal EVER!!!!
What an amazingly caring place. By the time we got there our furbaby had just passed away. They took him immediately to the and back and us back to a room. Sadly they couldnt bring him back. 💔 We spent very little time there but the time we did the Vet and the staff were wonderful. We will use them for certain again!
I came in with an emergency situation and they were already busy with 2 others, but they got my little guy in immediately and handled his pain within a few minutes. They communicated very clearly and completely, and were all VERY nice and professional. Id recommend them to anyone.
I called and was adamant that I just needed meds to hold us over until the next day due to a mistake my normal vets staff made. They were unable to even give me a couple pills to tide me over unless they saw my dog. I was so angry and crying with frustration when I got there after having to lift my poor baby into and out of the car.I have to say that it was a miracle that we went there. They got us into a room right away. The tech said that due to my dogs breathing she wanted to gave the doctor see her right away. I was surprised that the ldoctor wasnt going to come to me. It was a long wait...what ER isnt? But then Dr. D came in and loved on me the best way she could, with information of the critical situation my dear dog was in and options we needed to consider. Tough, tough night. In spite of how busy she was she sat with us as we said goodbye to our beloved dog. I will never forget Dr. D and the staffs kindness.
We took our cat to the emergency vet on Union Street. The staff was very effecient in taking him in. He was unresponsive. The staff gave us the option to do CPR, of course we answered yes. Unfortunately he died. The lady(we didnt catch her name) serving us was very kind and compassate. Because our sweet cat died suddenly, we had no clue what happened. The lady told us he died from a urinary blockage. We appreciate her taking the time to inform us of the cause of his death, not knowing is painful. She offered to give us his paw print and creamation services. When we told her we would like to take him home for burrial, she said she would fix him up for us to take him. She compassionately returned him to us in a fresh burrial box. I was so relieved, it goes without saying she was considerate of us for his transport home. When my husband offered payment, she said there is no charge.I wish to commend this lady for her actions and extreme compassion towards us in this very sad incident. I cant say enough about how she helped us . She definitely went the extra mile for us. I apologise for not getting her name.
Nicest people I’ve ever dealt with, they got my husky right in and fixed her up quickly and the price was very reasonable so happy for their help highly highly recommended
I cannot say enough about how great my experience was at this vet facility! The vet ( I am sorry I do not remember her name - I was extremely upset at the time) and staff were very caring and compassionate. Although my precious cat, Deeks, was not able to be saved, I know that he received the best care possible and spent his last time on this earth with gentle, caring people. I thank them for being so kind in our time of extreme distress!!
My boy cat was brought in by me after experiencing trouble urinating. After 8 hours, $600, and no phone call for discharge, I called the vet and asked for a check up. They calmly said that he was “ready for pickup”. I was shocked. I know vets are busy, but upon inspection, his discharge paperwork shows he was released an hour and a half before I called. Wait, it gets worse, after I get him home, and try to make him comfortable as he’s wobbly from the pain meds, I notice he HAD CORNEAL ABRASIONS ON EACH OF HIS EYES. I immediately call the vet and asked what happened and she simply said it was probably an accident and then proceeded to GIVE ME MEDICAL ADVICE OVER THE PHONE WITHOUT EXAMINING MY CAT. By law, that is not allowed by any medical facility, vet or human. Do not bring your furry loved ones here. The right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing and I regret ever trusting them with my kitty. He has endured two vet visits in two days, and multiple people poking and prodding him due to mistakes made by this clinic. STAY AWAY.
**Please see my Yelp review......(interesting how the reviews can be 180 apart. I guess you just do your due diligence and for your pets sake, hope all turns out on the positive side).
Cant say enough about this wonderful company. I was in a really bad place and they took care of my baby girl and myself. They were so understanding when I way hysterical. Thank you for everything especially Amanda Durrill, DVM.
Took my dog in to the Emergency Center because I cut his toenail too short and it wouldnt stop bleeding. They attended to him right away, and took care of the issue quickly. Spoke to Dr. Thomas Allen who was very nice. The price I got was terrific and was a lot less than I was expecting! Thanks for the great care everyone. We will be back if we have another emergency when we cant get to our regular vet in a timely manner!
We absolutely love this place and the wonderful staff!!! We had to bring one of our four legged guys in for a complex emergency consult, which also involved the internal medicine specialists. Their impeccable care and professionalism were outstanding and we could not be happier with the results!! Thank you so much!!
