Coming back here MONTHS later, but this ER is so amazing. They took extremely good care of my Husky, Luna who had Parvo when she was younger. She wouldn’t eat or drink for days, had a 103° fever, was puking, had diarrhea, & didn’t want anyone to even touch her. They did everything they could to save our baby like we asked! We didn’t care about the price we just knew we NEEDED her in our lives. ❤️ This is her before Parvo, during Parvo, & now happy & healthy! Thank you SO much Olympia Pet Emergency!! She is the light of our world. ✨
I could not have asked for a better emergency vet. I had literally spent over 12 hours trying to find somewhere to take my dog. My dog needed to be seen literally as soon as possible. My dog was either too emergent or there were no vets on that were able to see her. At around 1 AM I called Olympia pet emergency and they told me to come right in. They took my dog back and they called me and talk to me for half an hour. They took so much time out of their shift to make sure I knew every option I had. They took such amazing care of her in there. They even bandaged her up amazingly with cute little hearts. It’s not the outcome I wanted. But I know it’s the outcome that is Necessary. I’m just so grateful that they were the emergency vet that I was able to go to. I will never go to another emergency vet other than Olympia pet emergency.Thank you guys so much for everything that you’ve done for me and for Juno. I will forever be grateful for you guys.
I beg you, take your animals elsewhere. Anywhere. Take them to a friend who knows she smallest amount about animals and youd be in better hands. There was one Dr who knew what he was doing, the lady doctor is condescending and doesnt listen to the owner. Please do not subject your animal to maltreatment and go elsewhere, drive all the way to Portland if needed, please get your animal proper care. This place is a waste of time and money
I have absolutely no idea how they received good reviews. Tuesday I was told there was an 8 hour wait not to come and to call back in a few hours, called back a few hours later and was told they were not taking any patients due to a doctor calling out. My dog is in distress not breathing right, screeching, lethargic, and swollen. I finally was able to get him in yesterday and it’s been all about the money. They unauthorized charged us $300 for an X-ray just to tell us the same thing they already told us before the x ray. We were sent home with pain meds and then telling us our dog has arthritis. We did not take him there for check up we took him there for an actual emergency. The girl could not answer any questions she just kept saying it’s the arthritis. Now it’s the next day and my dog can barely walk, he won’t eat or drink, he just laying here sad. I just called and was told by Lisa in the most non empathetic way a basic “oh well”. He can come get reassessed and we would have to pay the fees all over again and that there was nothing she could do. When asking to speak with a manager I was told that there was none and she didn’t know if there would be one management comes and go as they please. This place is all about the dollar the pets they could care less. I have never get so hopeless and the customer service I received this morning is DISGUSTING to say the least. Please if you have any other option (we didn’t) do not bring your babies here. Do better Olympia pet.The lady with the short blonde hair that brought our doggy back was the only person there that should actually have a job. I wish they were all like you girl. Thank you for giving us a little compassion in a very worrying time. This message is not for you.
I took my cat here at 4am on Wednesday, June 9th because her health was declining and I feared it would be the day I said goodbye. After sitting in the car for 5 hours (I understand, it’s an emergency vet), she was finally seen. I explicitly explained to the vet tech that she was 14 years old, I had watched her be born and I knew that today was probably her last day before she crossed over. In response, I was given an estimate of more than $1500 for tests and diagnostics. I again explained that I knew my cat, and I was 95% sure she was trying to say goodbye before she experienced any pain. I also could not pay that type of bill. I explicitly asked once again - is it her time to go. The vet tech went and talked to the vet, came back and said that the vet didn’t think it was her time to go, but that they could give her fluids to hold her over until we could make it back to our regular vet. After a $226 payment, I waited for over 2 hours for her to be returned to me. After finally leaving around 12:30pm, I returned to my house and saw my cat declining further. She was unresponsive, wouldn’t eat, and continued to seek out small spaces. Around 7pm I called the vet back, letting them know that she had actually gotten worse, not better. At that time, I was informed I should bring her back because they had done shift change and there was a new vet. I explained that I was 30 minutes away and I really didn’t want to traumatize my cat with another 30 minute car ride just to be put down. I contacted an emergency vet closer to me (that was unable to see my cat the day prior due to being over capacity) and upon hearing her condition, they agreed to see her. We got there within 10 minutes and within another 10 I was informed that her condition was critical and unless I wanted to prolong her life (with no guarantees) humane euthanasia was my only option.I am not upset at all with this clinic that my cat passed away. What I am upset about was that this vet (Dr. Daniels, maybe? Not sure of her name) said that it was not her day to go and SENT HER HOME where she literally spent almost 6 hours slowly dying before I could get her to another vet. Why aren’t you honest with owners??? I had accepted the fact that she had lived her best life, and it was her time, but I was forced to prolong the inevitable because the vet didn’t want to euthanize???? I feel as though this is incredibly irresponsible as a vet. Because I was unable to pay the amount of $1500, she made the decision to prolong a life (most likely in pain and suffering) and then made me have to pay another $300 to a different vet to euthanize? I’m very disappointed with the “service” I received from this establishment.
Today we had to take our beloved dog in to be euthanized due to the pain she was in from severe arthritis. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience with such a sad time. From the check-in to the last moments with our dog the staff was attentive, thoughtful and kind. I highly recommend Olympia Pet Emergency for times like this.
The evening of September 7, 2021, I had the heartbreaking realization that my 15 year old beloved cat Famke was suffering, was not getting better after her recent trip to the vet, and there was nothing else we could do for her. Her usual vet was already closed for the day, so my husband and I made the difficult decision to bring her to Olympia Pet Emergency. We arrived about 8:30 PM and unfortunately had to wait about 2 hours to be seen, as the lot was full of people waiting to be checked in. However, once we were admitted, they gave her an IV right away so she could receive painkillers and not be suffering. Then I was able to embrace her in my arms in her basket as she was still awake. The vet was gentle and kind, explained everything she was doing and what to expect, and let us have time with her before we said our tearful final goodbyes, with Famke secured tightly in my arms.It was one of the most challenging days of my life to lose my precious little girl, but everyone who helped us treated me and my baby with compassion, care, and dignity. I received a thoughtful note of sympathy in the mail shortly after. And when I came back to pick up Famkes ashes, it meant so much to me that I was able to keep her paw & nose print, paw mold, lock of her fur, and the engraved wooden urn box. I am very grateful for the help I received in making those difficult decisions as we struggled to say goodbye to my sweet girl.
I looked for a vet from Seattle to Portland to see my boxer, Kya. It was an extremely long wait but they did warn me before hand. Which I totally appreciated. The staff was super kind. Especially while being so busy and short staffed. The Dr was very nice and explained my options. I can’t thank them enough for all they did for us.
Very professional and positive staff!! I must’ve been so annoying calling about every hour to ask about my cat…. In his looooong sleepover with Hunter, dr. Martin, and the rest of their team! They were able to give me details about how my cat was starting to act like his old self again. 5/5 will use again I’m sure.
I was there on 7/25/2018 to have my beloved pet sent to heaven. the tech who brought us to the room was very biased, stiff, and rude. she told me that the process would not be permitted because SHE ( a tech) didnt think that my dog should be sent to heaven. she was unaware of the incontience, the inability he had to get onto the couch, the increasing pain that no longer responded to the high doses of 4 different pain medications that we was on. In a time of grief and sadness I was met with judgement from someone who knew my dog NOT. The vet fully agreed with my humane decision but her comments and her attitude tainted this already difficult experience. I will NEVER return.
I’ve never been to a emergency vet. This one is closest to my house and nestled away in a nice area. Ashley and the vet are very nice and the vet is very knowledgeable. My dog Cricket was crying his nose and eye were swollen, they are giving him injections now. I’m so thankful this place is here and open I was so scared
We had a very ill cat (poisoning most likely) after 3 weeks of deteriorating health we needed to have him euthanized. The care team did a great job helping us through the process and let us take the time we needed.
We have had ER referrals twice. Both times, this office was unavailable due to low staffing. When I asked what customers could do to help, I was told all the local hospitals pull from the same staff pool which is why none of them are available tonight. When you advertise a fully staffed ER clinic that is open 24/7…people will believe you.We were told to drive to Seattle. Sigh. So here we go. Last time it was Renton. We have to do better for our animals in Western WA.
Incompetent doctors or just maltreatment for my cat, luckily had an appointment scheduled at her regular vet yesterday (Monday) but over the weekend her condition worsened and she needed medical attention since she was struggling to breathe. They gave her a fluid overload and caused more pain. They had her for 2 days and could not figure out what was wrong, her normal vet figured it out within the hour and started aggressive treatment for her high fever and excessive drooling as well as antibiotics for the real problem. These guys gave a different answer every time we called and never figured it out.
I am an ER veterinarian from out of state, and I want to express my appreciation for the help I received from Olympia Pet Emergency on the evening of the 4th of July. While traveling from the Peninsula to a [human] ER for a laceration repair, I picked up a lost dog on the side of the highway and brought him to OPE for a microchip check. During the short wait, I observed the staff rapidly triaging patients and efficiently communicating with clients. Despite the hospitals obvious inundation with new cases on the holiday evening, they quickly assisted me so I could continue on my way for medical care. I was impressed with Jasmine and Hannahs calm demeanor, compassion, and professionalism --no small feat in the hectic, high-stress environment of an ER on a holiday. I would not hesitate bring my own pets here if I needed to. The lost pup is now safely home, and his family is thrilled to be reunited.
Despite the recent negative reviews we took our cat to Oly Pet Emergency. We called ahead of time and confirmed they could get our cat in but explained the wait time could be several hours. The staff were all really kind and made several welfare check ins while we waited. The emergency vet was great and explained what was going on and what the treatment plan would be. I was surprised the cost for an 8-hour emergency vet visit was very reasonable. I would recommend taking your pet here in an emergency and definitely call ahead to make sure they can get your pet in and how long the wait will be.
We received absolutely amazing service yesterday for our sick dog. Every staff member we came in contact with was so kind which helped to ease my mind while I waited for my dog to be examined. Would highly recommend for any pet emergency!
I drove here and was turned away and then subsequently turned away at seven different vets for the situation not being urgent enough. My dog had ingested an unknown mushroom, she was suffering loss of use of one of her limbs, continuous vomiting, literally did not get up from the bed a single time that day, had not eaten in two days, had not gone to the bathroom in 24 hours, was not drinking water, was completely not acting like herself (one year old high energy pup), and her stomach was making terrible sounds all day. The woman on the phone told me this was not urgent even though VCA animal hospitals website clearly states that if mushroom toxicity occurs, dogs will start with GI upset and then for a few days seem better before liver or kidney failure and the damage is irreversible. It states for most people, by the time they realize the dog needs a vet, it’s too late. They offered to check her vitals as if that would be an indicator that she did not eat a poisonous mushroom. If she had simple stomach upset it would have happened the day of, not two days later. What would have been more urgent? If my dog was unconscious? If I brought her in already dead? She has all the classic symptoms of mushroom toxicity. I hope your dog eats a poisonous mushroom and you can experience how non urgent the situation is. Will never ever ever do business here. When I finally found a vet to see her she was hospitalized and I was told that I was lucky she did not die and applauded for advocating so hard for her. Maybe next time you should consult some science on dogs and mushroom toxicity and have some compassion while you’re at it.
They went ABOVE and BEYOND to help my cat. Yes, we waited eight hours in the parking lot. A lot of people don’t realize that veterinarians are completely short staffed right now. There are only a handful of ER clinics in the greater Olympia area. The staff has to take pets in with true life or death emergencies first. And yes it is going to be expensive! My cat ended up being there for 24 hours and the entire team—everyone from the front desk to vet techs to the two veterinarians I worked with were so compassionate throughout our entire stay.
Dr. Neal and her team saved my darling kitten, Ambrose, when I brought him in around 10pm after he’d suddenly become nearly unresponsive. Given that he was the smallest and only survivor of an abandoned litter born just 4 weeks ago, I was preparing myself for the worst, and both the doctor and her nurses treated me with so much patience and compassion. I never felt rushed or pressured after they took Ambrose inside, and Dr. Neal worked fantastically with my available budget to tailor a prioritized care plan that was exactly what Ambrose needed. 24 hours later, Ambrose is home and alert, eagerly eating, and I’m in awe that the team at OPE was not only able to get an IV into such a small kitten, but that they were able to make the entire process feel so easy for us when I know how the vet industry nationwide is struggling with a shortage of available staff versus an overwhelming number of patients, and I was preparing myself for possibly having to say goodbye to little Ambrose. I didn’t have to do that last night. I can’t thank or praise them enough.
My sweet doggy passed away on 8/29/21. I was at work at the time so my family rushed him to this pet emergency establishment in an attempt to safe his life. Sadly, we were to late and nothing could be done.We decided to have our boy cremated and picked out a beautiful urn. We were told it would take up to two weeks to receive the remains. I called on the 8th of September and again on the 11th. Both times I was told that his remains were not ready. -no problem, I was within the 2 weeks. I called again today (9/14) to find out that his remains have been ready since 9/2!!!Their only excuse was we have some new hires and they must of forgotten to notate the account correctly that he was ready for pick-up.Shame on you. I sat in your parking lot on September 8th crying because he wasnt there yet when in reality, someone was just to lazy to actually check.
Very compassionate and caring. They took very good care of my Rocky dog as he passed into heaven and were very considerate of those of us mourning his loss.
Excellent service. My cat Soju got crush by my garage door. I arrived at the clinic with no prior coordination. I called the number and told them I had an emergency and what had happened. A vet ran out to my vehicle, did a quick look, and he was taken in immediately. They followed up with another vet who handled the administrative part of checking him in. Its two days later and Soju is doing fine. Hes a little sore, as expected, but is jumping up on the furniture again. I want to thank everyone that helped. Thanks all!
Brought my dog here for a soft injury to his hind leg and even though the wait time was rather lengthy, Arielle and the rest of the staff were very polite and empathetic to our cause. Their vet was also very thorough in her explanation of my dogs diagnosis and treatment too. You can tell that they genuinely care about your pet and arent trying to charge you outrageous prices or take you for your money. God forbid but if I have to take my dog to the emergency hospital again, Id take him back here!
My dog had needed urgent care. It appeared that he may have picked up a tick. He has significant heart problems, so infection could be catastrophic for him. He is 16 years old. We drove to this site, and called from a designated parking spot. We were told that they were full and couldnt take any more patients. Being new in town, we asked if we could get other referrals. We were told to go to Sumner. A fifty minute drive. Essentially we were just blown off. I understand that they were at capacity, but Im appalled at the rude and uncaring way we were dismissed. No excuse for this kind of behavior.6/28/21While the review above reflects my experience at the time I wrote it, it is only fair to report my recent experience. I also have a better understanding of the critical shortages of staffing that all emergency veterinarians are having in this pandemic and post pandemic world. My dog was transferred here from a local vet, with a diagnosis of probable pancreatitis/gastroenteritis. The care he had would be 5 stars. They were clear about the treatment plan, costs and communication. In spite of significant staff shortages, they gave excellent pet and pet owner care. I would not hesitate to use them again, and hope this shortage of veterinarian workers ends soon.
Almost killed my dog by over medication. Caused a major seizure and my dog has still not recovered. Irresponsible and instead of having courage to accept responsibility and apologize, we got to listen to the Dr talk about himself and deny any responsibility. They gave my dog a medicine used to euthanize animals, and added six other medications on top of it. Almost $900 dollars and a possibility permanently changed pet. Avoid if you really care about your pet.
I called to get my kitten seen after eating a foreign body. Although they were completely full the front desk gal helped me. She was very nice and helpful at finding other locations. Very patient and had amazing customer service. I appreciate the patience she had!!!
These professionals are compassionate, friendly and efficient. After worrying about my fur-baby and calling all over only to be told there was no available appointments, they took care of us. There was a wait, but it was worth it. I knew exactly what the cost would be up front and there were no surprises. I would recommend this veterinary hospital to anyone.
Olympia pet emergency took our hunny dog in when nobody else would, Although we were too late in saving her they did all they could..We will never forget what your team did for us in our desperate time. From the bottom of our saddened hearts.THANK YOUPhil and Carla MooreAkc- Hunny 4 Moore
Rushed our 9yr old GSP here last night thinking he was having a stroke. Said our prayers in route.. Were seen within a minute of pulling into the parking lot. After exam by take-in vet tech and second opinion of vet, they said he had consumed maraguiana and he just needed to sleep it off. No charge for diagnosis and we were sent home several minutes after arrival. Would have never figured that out since we dont smoke or use maraguiana. He must have found something in the grass or parking lot going from our work to the truck. Highly recommend this emergency vet.
The staff were very professional - always updating me on what was happening. The vet was thorough and spent time explaining the results and answering all my questions. It was a major relief to have my pet seen the same day. The cost was a little higher than a regular vet visit, but that was expected since its an emergency clinic. They provided an estimate beforehand so I knew how much I should expect to pay. I will definitely use their services in the future if I cant get into my regular vet.
This hospital turned us away by phone! Our puppy was injured with a head trauma injury. The puppy was screaming non stop and foaming at the mouth and having obvious seizures. If this isnt an extreme trauma situation I dont know what is???Their policy is to see emergency cases and the most critical cases are seen first. We explained exactly what was going on yetthey told us that they wouldnt even see us and to call a Lakewood emergency clinic. We went to Blue Pearl in Lakewood and the puppy was euthanized immediately!Shame on Olympia Pet Emergency for allowing that puppy to be in excruciating pain and suffering for that additional hour!!!!
Literally lied about something wrong with my dog, and constantly made us pay for unnecessary things and didnt even focus on the main issue with my dog. told us if they did a certain surgery she would live a lot longer; she had the surgery and died a week later. i suggest not taking your pet to this horrible, and selfish business. that cares about nothing but money, and their own time. be safe with where you bring your animals!!
Incredibly kind staff and knowledgeable doctor. My cat had an emergency and they took it very seriously and were able to see that he needed attention immediately and got him in quick. Very thankful they are here!
Great staff! Very friendly and caring! Dr B saved my whole litter of pups and got me in right away
Staff was very clear and gave me their recommendations, which was very appreciated. They saw my dog and took a whole load of stress off my shoulders. Loved their service. This is the only place I will bring her for emergencies.
They should change their hours on Google because they aren’t seeing any pets right now. My regular vet suggested going to an ER clinic because they are booked for weeks away but I guess all the ER clinics are understaffed or at capacity.
Was definitely disappointed with this clinic. Spent the day here waiting to be seen and kept getting the run around. Was told we had a 4-6 hr window which somewhere unbeknownst to us turned into a 6-8 hr window because they deemed my pet stable and didn’t tell us. Waited and watched other patients come and go. When I asked again they said if we waited longer than we could probably be seen. Definitely unsatisfactory... if you want your pet to die then bring them here... Won’t come here again!
Thank goodness for these folks! My kitty was so constipated that he needed to be sedated and spend the night. He is back to his old self now.
The only emergency vet in the area of Lakewood Olympia area that would take our dog in an emergency . He had his chest ripped opened by another dog and they were gracious and caring and instantly at our vehicle for service!!! Called 3 other emergency vets in our home town of Lakewood and explained the situation and they said sorry we are full with no compassion and one even hung up on me!! Summit Veteranarian was rude. VCA was compassionate and actually gave us options and led us here!!
I would never recommend this place, we waited 7hrs and at 1 am they still wanted us to wait 2 more hrs for them to see our dog. I guess its only the emergencies they care about. 🤷
This place helped save my puppy from parvo a couple of years ago. I didnt have a lot of money but you still found a way to help me save her. She is alive and well and very happy. Thankyou so much!
I will say they did a great job I had to take my pregnant Golden Retriver in after she wasnt producing any puppies after many contractions. We arrived at the clinic and waited for about 20 min and a tech came out to look at our dog and took her in to do xrays and Ultrasounds. They confirmed that she had 6 puppies and that one was in a position that was blocking the rest. They had to preform an emergency c section once they opened her they found out her uterus was on the verge of rupturing and had to remove it because the it was so damaged. They removed the puppies but we lost 3 of the puppies it could of gotten so much worse we could of lost all 6 puppies and the mother if not for the quick reaction of the doctor and the techs. I have seen a lot of reviews saying the wait times are bad and I will say that once a dog goes into surgery they stop seeing patients to put all the focus on the animal that is in surgery. I couldnt imagine life with out my best friend thank you for saying her life and managing to save some of the puppies.
I was given the expectation of 6-8 hours for the time to be seen waiting in the parking lot. Which is expected, but they did say if there was something that was an emergency then our cat could be seen earlier, I sat in my car in the parking lot for 5 hours and called and they said it was 3 to 4 more hours. This was 2:30 am, I could not stay potentially until 6. I took her to another emergency vet and was told she has renal failure. I am very upset with the way this establishment ignored the symptoms and would not give some type of care. I told the symptoms to the other veterinarian and they brought her right in. Now our family is hoping we have not lost a member of our family because our cat had to stay in the car for 5 hours without any sort of care with a life threatening illness.
In 2013 we brought in our two month old kitten who was peeing blood. Upon examination, he had a terrible urinary tract blockage. They werent sure if they would be able to dislodge the chunks or if they could even hook him up to a catheter because he was so young and small. Still, they took him in and truly went the extra mile in helping him. After a couple of days, our cat was barely hanging on and they warned us he may not pull through. But that night, they spent hours working on him and after midnight they were able to clear his tract. Now our cat (Frodo) is a big, healthy 7 year old and we frequently remember the effort of this vet and how lucky we are that he survived. Wish we could remember the doctors name so we could thank him personally.
I was very disappointed in this place. I took my 7 yr. Old pitbull there he was having issues breathing and let me tell u they told me it would be a 6 to 8 hr. wait she came out and looked at my dog asked if that was his normal behavior I told her no she turned around walked in and we sat there for 4 hrs I was hysterical by then my dog was in such bad shape I had to take him to Lakewood and it was 3:30 rush he traffic by the time that we got there my dog made it in the door and collapsed they had to get him stable he had a temperature of 105 if I would of sat in that parking lot any longer my dog would have died they are no good .
Literally the worst service Ive ever experienced. They forgot I was even there to process the intake paperwork, and only can out to get it when I called to remind them. Then I finally left after 4 more hours of being ignored. Definitely not worth what they would have charged me if we had been seen, and I dread the care that my poor dog would have received.
I can tell money is the goal with this company after $700 is the total for a simple blood test and simple antibiotics.. a money grab prying on people sad for their pet.
Dr. Chauvin is an amazing vet, and were so grateful to him for saving the lives of our golden retriever, Lucy, and 3 of her puppies. I appreciated his straightforward manner, quick judgement, competence, and the time he took to explain things and answer any questions we had. We knew we had an emergency situation on our hands, but we didnt know our lil mamas life (and her entire litter) was so close to being lost that day. Dr. Chauvin recognized some pretty troubling signs very quickly, and Lucy is still alive and recovering well because of that.Lucy was seen promptly. The staff that worked with us were all super friendly and helpful, and were beyond appreciative of all of them. If I could give 10 stars, I would.
I have taken Gypsy here a few times and they have the best staff ever. They have saved my furbabys life one time and the other times she was very sick at her tummy. I will definitely use them anytime I need them. Thank you for your loyalty to my baby girl.
Talk about one had NOT washing the other they say there is a wait time of 2 to 4 hours to have your pet seen, well we have been here for 3 and a half hours they brought us the admit paperwork to fill out and that was it they blew us off then shift change happened and we were completely forgotten about. While our dog is still in pain hasnt pooped or eaten or drank anything in 2 days my aunt is in her late sixties with sever health issues of her own and my mother who. Is also here waiting is 77 years old people are you kidding me weve now been here for over 4 hours and all I can see is literally the people in there are looking out here and are giggling and smirking .. And you would think that knowing the mistake THEY made they would be a little quicker at rectifying the situation, but nope they just keep bringing new pets in that came in after us WOW ! This is what you consider a
I could not get in to see anyone dog has a bullet in leg and cut on neck and several small cuts and a broken open tumor and I called they say that they could not see anyone.and its a rescued dog I guess there is not a such thing here today poor dog. no rescue for him today.i was sent to 4 different places they all said the same all I could say was wow. So what am I to do.
I came to the clinic with a very sick 15year old dog after spending hours at another local pet emergency clinic which was an awful experience. Olympia pet emergency welcomed me and my sick dog with compassion an thoughtful care. Then sent a card recognizing what a painful decision it was for me. I will be using them in the future. I highly recommend them.
They do a great job. Just know that with Covid now, expect a wait that could be 6 to 8 hours.
Our puppy had been sick for several days and our local vet hospital had wait times of up to 8 hrs to be seen, so they recommended we check out Olympia Pet Emergency. We had a long drive to get there but once arrived they were able to get us in a little under the estimated wait of 4 hrs. The staff were great to work with and took excellent care of our puppy. Would definitely recommend this place!
If i could rate a 0 i would my friends mini dausand needed emergency help for her jaw and was turned away. Very disappointed with how heartless they could be now shes being properly cared for in tacoma.
Our very old cat (20 yrs.) was at the end of her life and although we arranged to take her to our regular vet, their hours had changed and were closing when we arrived. So we were left with taking her to Olympia Pet Emergency where we received the most caring and compassionate care we could have asked for! Every staff member was wonderful, but the most unexpected thing was the card we received about a week later, signed by the staff, with wildflower seeds and a paw print of our pet. Very thoughtful!
Kindness and compassion. This group of vets and assistants was so kind and helpful...it was a tough visit, but the staff was so nice. Even during the pandemic, they had a great set up for the visit. Thank you
On the early morning of Sunday March 14th 2021 my dog Mario was dying from Osteosacoma; a painful condition. I called around 6 a.m. to have him put to sleep. Original they said, no problem and to call back because of a shift change. The second time I called they said they were overbooked. This company has no system of triage, never asked the condition of the dog-complete lack of empathy. Olympia Veterinary Specialists, 902 Union in Olympia, took him and I owe them a debt of gratitude.
I was just there with my cat, and I would like to give so much praise and thanks to the staff who cared for Minion last night and this morning. I was kept well aware of wait times, I was treated with kindness and smiles, and Minion recieved stellar care. I could not be happier with our visit and I am so grateful for the the attentiveness and great service we recieved! Also, the prices are **VERY** reasonable, especially considering that this is an ER.
They are professional, compassionate, and go the extra step to make sure your pets are comfortable, well taken care of, and give you peace of mind.
You never want to have to call a Pet Emergency service, but when/if you do, call this one. They are attentive and caring. They even took the time to call me a week later to check up on my cat and see how she was doing. That means the world to me. These people are amazing.
Don’t take your pet here if you care about them. I do animal rescue and have been here a few times. The only thing they care about is money.Consistent unnecessary expensive testing and not listening to the patients issues. We waited two hours for them to try and charge hundreds for testing unrelated to the pets problems, thank gosh I have some knowledge to understand what is going on and was able to deny them torturing an already sick pet just so they can make more money.
The prices here are so high in surprised people can afford pets. I had just fixed my cat and brought here here after what I can only assume was a botched spay, since she was kept in one small room with a cone on and still ended up with her insides falling out. Since it was Saturday night they told me the estimated fees were $400-600 and I had to agree to pay that before they would start treatment. I said I couldn’t pay that tonight and I couldn’t get approved for a credit financing so they gave me the option to surrender my pet. They told my boyfriend when they did the paperwork that the vet doing the surgery was going to keep her as well. My little kitty I got from a tiny baby. It was free for him to do the surgery for himself. I guess if you work here I’m sure this place is great. For a mom of three that had had everything go wrong since covid started, you may want to call and ask how much the initial fee is before you waste life saving time driving here. I was forced to have someone sign paperwork to relinquish her before she would even be helped, how messed up is that?
They took such great care of my sweet Chihuahua! Totally recommend this 24 hour emergency Vet clinic!!!!!!!
Not open 24 hours as advertised on Google! And have a small capacity when they are open.
If they offer to take your animal because you cannot pay, be warned, they say theyll place it, or a staff member will adopt it, but what they actually do is EUTHANIZE your animal!!!
It is hard to get into any vet right now. My cat was is pain with a high fever yesterday. I called at 11am 5 hour wait, called at 5 pm 8 hour wait. Called at 2:30 am today and they weren’t sure because they had a surgery. I went do there to get in the queue. 2:42 am arrived called in, they said they would be out. 3:42am still waiting for them to talk to me. Called and they sent someone out, finally got all the paperwork done by 4:24 am. Call at 11 am for status update, my cat was next, called at 3 pm my cat is next. UGH!!!
Brought my cat here after hours for emergency services because he was cold, slobbering and breathing hard all of a sudden. A receptionist came out and looked at my cat and told me hes stable and will have to wait at least 8 hours or I need to drive to Tacoma for a potentially lesser wait. I went to another local emergency vet that examined my cat immediately... my cat is in critical condition likely due to a clot. I dont know if he will make it but if theres any chance he does, its due in no part to this clinic. Please take your beloved companions else where for treatment. How is it ethical for receptionists to make judgement calls like this?
I must say that I am highly surprised at the negative reviews for Olympia Pet Emergency! My dog had a completely debilitating seizure on Saturday morning and they were the closest 24/7 emergency vet, so I took her there. The front staff were really nice and patient with my dog as she was still a bit off from the seizure and then suddenly being taken to a new vets office. They took us back to a room in no less than ten minutes where they took her vitals right away and assessed my dogs condition at the time. We waited another ten minutes or so for Dr. Blair who was absolutely fantastic. The majority of the time he spoke to us, he was sitting on the floor with my dog, petting her and talking calmly, keeping her calm in the process. We showed him a video of some strange behavior she exhibits (which weve shown to 4 prior vets without any answers), and the combination of her seizure that day and her odd behavior led us to an answer about her condition! He had the experience to be able to tell us exactly what it was that my dog was doing in the video as hed treated another epileptic dog in the past who had very similar petite gran mal seizures to the one my pup was having in the video (unbeknownst to us that it was a seizure). I was expecting a $600 or $700 bill, but it came back at only about $350. That was $95 for the office fee, $30 for her new seizure meds, $17 for the blood draw equipment, and the rest for the litany of tests they ran with that blood draw. That draw was what ruled out nearly everything else and pointed us to what is considered an elimination illness (i.e. an illness only able to be diagnosed after a process of elimination for other illnesses). My family has been used to elimination illnesses and disorders (as they have come up for some of my family members in the past), so I fully agreed with the blood panel to eliminate anything else it may have been. Since seeing Dr. Blair, Ive received a call from his staff checking up on my pup and an email as well. I must say, my dog is completely back to herself with the medication for her seizures and she hasnt had a petite gran mal seizure either since seeing Dr. Blair last Saturday. The best part about the visit though was that you could see the passion Dr. Blair and his vet tech/assistants had for the animals in their care. It was a great experience and Ive already recommended them to two of my coworkers since our visit last weekend.(UPDATE)Our dog decided to put up a fight with a giant rat in our backyard tonight. She got bit up a bit but we took her in and only paid about $120 for the exam, cleaning the bites, and a dose of meds to stave off any infection that may try to take root. The staff were great as always even though our dog was being a bit of a jerk this time a growling at the staff (which she has NEVER done before). They were really nice and the cost was really good, especially for an emergency vet!
This is a horrible place to take your animal they are slow and care nothing about you or your animal. The parking lot was empty (2 people) including me ; I sat 2 hours minimum just to watch how the person in front of me even got there animal seen. They ordered food and rushed to the door like it was Christmas but took forever to even hand me paperwork to even get my dog checked in. Don’t understand how this is a emergency clinic when your not full and still slow. DON’T BRING YOU PET IF YOU LOVE THEM
The care and attention paid to an animal in my care needing critical services was outstanding. I would definitely be back here - though hoping my pets never need it! Thanks to the wonderful staff for your compassion and care.
THE WORST ER VET! I do not recommend. They deserve 0 stars. Horrible! We went there because my dog had a broken leg and we we’re waiting for about 6 hours and they even did the surgery for my dog, only some bandage and medication and they charge me 1000. And they leave my dog with the broken leg.And my dog need surgery, they are super expensive.
Having just moved here, we had no regular vet yet. My 13 year old dog started, what sounded like something was caught in her throat. I googled and found closest emergency vet. I will definitely say be prepared for a wait. They are an EMERGENCY vet service. It is no different than waiting at a hospital for you and I. As higher emergencies come in your wait gets longer. We all know our babies are number one and we expect them to be seen immediately. Other than wait time I would say they were phenomenal! Customer service was spot on. My only recommendation would be is to listen to the parent. I had a couple calls that were not understood because no one heard or wrote down when I admitted her. However, they really were great. I mean great! For a newcomer, scared that her poor elderly dog was without her, they took absolute perfect care of her. I would absolutely recommend them and I know where to go should anything happen in the future. Dr Marshall....,HUGE shout out!!! I’ve been to many vets and never get an actual call from the doctor. That means so much!
The support staff were great, the medical services were not. They ended up sending us to Tacoma after 7 hours to start the process all over again at a different emergency clinic. Now I know why my local vet suggested we drive to Vancouver rather than to this much closer clinic.
There was only One vet but many assistants, they did nothing to help our dog that had a blockage in his bladder besides make us wait 4 hours just to tell us to go to a different Veterinarian clinic. The car to the side of us their dog was not breathing and they told them to go to a different clinic as well, they arrived at the same different clinic we did and passed away. I’m very upset with this Veterinarian emergency. Don’t go here if u have a real emergency they won’t do anything.
We had excellent care at Olympia Pet Emergency for our 12 year old Boxer, who got ill this weekend. Even though it was not the outcome we had hoped for ALL of the staff especially the Vet were very kind, caring and compassionate. . I think most of the complaints/reviews of people that gave them a low rating was because of the time they had to wait. If you compare this to a regular ER its about the same as far as wait time. Sometimes theyre pretty quick and sometimes you wait 6 hours because they have a lot more serious cases.. They are going to triage your pet when you get there pretty quickly. I cant thank them enough for making a really tough decision a little easier due to their kindness.
The doctors and staff here are awesome. Bring a nurse, I want the best care for my fur babies and they delivered above and beyond. I brought my cat in who was having a seizures. Dr Kail was so kind, explained possible reasons for the cause of the seizures, gave me some options, and we worked together to formulate a plan. Dr. Reese was also just as kind, was patient with the questions I had, and again we worked together to formulate a plan. Sadly, my kitty didnt make it. I was impressed with the compassion and care they took in comforting us and sending him home with us. We even got some paw prints which my other vet never offered me. I would, and have, recommend them to anyone with fur babies in need of emergency care.
They refuse my dog for reasons that makes no sense. They didnt even let her in the hospital
This happened today: my dog has an opened wound on her back which had started to heal but she rubbed it open to twice it’s size. When I arrived I called and explained what happened, told them the original wound happened Friday, the person on the line said ‘oh, well, the vet is in emergency surgery, check back in 4-5 hours’. What was so disconcerting is not what she said but how she said it, the minute I said the original wound happened Friday, her voice sounded like ‘whatever’. I’ll never go there again.
When my dog was bitten by another dog on the neck I rushed him here after recommendation of our regular vet. The lady comes out and determines that this is non-life threatening injury, I suppose by looking at him. I waited for 4 hours in 90 degree weather idling all the time to keep him cool, before they even took the poor dog in. I called a couple of times but I got the same wooden answer:”we are busy with patients in critical condition”. Then the ignorant fat lady at the reception was rude to me when picking the dog up. I’m hoping that the dogs wound doesn’t get infected from staying open this long in this heat and there isn’t anything more serious internally. I wouldn’t even bring a wounded rattle snake for treatment here. Two stars because the first shift did bring a cup of water for the poor dog.
Ive had to go to Olympia Pet Emergency twice now and have been very happy each time. Dr. Burggren helped us the first time we visited and was very informative and upfront with the cost involved. This last visit Dr. Adam Stone was able to help us. He also was very thorough and understanding to the situation. After each visit a technician has called us to check up on our pet and offered to get a Veterinarian to answer and further questions.Emergency pet health care is not cheap but I feel that the value is met at OPE. My pets and I greatly appreciate the availability of great emergency care.
Was in the parking lot for over an hour waiting to even checked in for triage. Even after calling to remind them I was in the parking lot. I understand emergencies happen, but even in the busiest of ERs you check in immediately. Fortunately my pups issue can wait until her vet opens in the morning. Unacceptable!
My experience happened months ago and I’m just now getting around to this review. I brought in my 3 year old cat who had stopped eating and stopped going to the bathroom and had obvious signs of distress. He had urinary crystals which He was on a special diet for and I made clear to the vet as I thought that could be part of the problem. The vet said “cats are just weird”. The vet did not seem to be a fan of cats and seemed afraid to touch him. My beloved cat ended up dying not long after I was sent home. I paid well over $100 to a clinic that did absolutely nothing for my baby
Receptionist Lisa was extremely rude and unhelpful
Worst decision of my life was to take any animal to these people. They lead you on and tell you that they will help you and as soon as they get your animal back in a room they say that they need the money that the procedure is going to cost before they do anything to help them. Needless to say they killed my baby kitty and just about killed the mama kitty if I hadnt came up with the cash to pay them first before they help her! WORST place ever!!
The receptionist has no compassion at all, She made it very clear that she isn’t interested In what is going on with my pet, and did not offer any other type of advice/support since they have reached their capacity tonight. I have been waiting for over a week to see my vet and I have an apt on Friday, but my cat is VERY ILL. And he needs to be seen SOONER which is why I called in the first place. It seems so impossible to get help right now...Also the receptionist sounds sick...considering today’s circumstances, she probably shouldn’t be at work (coughing, sneezing, sniffling) etc.
I understand triage is a thing but when a another person has been taken care of and seen while your dog has blood dripping out of them, it kinda sours your mood. Also very concerning to be told that they forgot about you once again while other people are still being seen.
10 hour wait time for emergency services. I guess they can have two stars since the other emergency vet wont even accept new patients. Not really sure what you do if your pet needs help at night other than hope it makes it to the morning.
They were sooo busy, but all the staff was amazing and so caring. The vet did not push anything on us and she let me know certain things that could wait would be cheaper to be done at her regular vet. Great experience.
My husband and I were camping near Olympia in late June when our chihuahua became lethargic and uncomfortable. Being from Vancouver and not knowing the area, rushed to the nearest ER and Olympia Pet Emergency was great! We had no wait time, the technician was friendly and my chi was at ease despite feeling unwell. We saw Dr. Kail and she was very informative and explained why she suggested the treatments for our chi. Overall, this emergency office is affordable and I am willing to pay top dollar for my pets. Thanks for being there in our time of need 🐾 We hope to never be in the same situation but at least we know where to go! Sincerely, Paco and his overbearing parents
Had a very rude phone conversation. Without listening to what I had to say about my sick pet, she immediately cut me off and said “Go see your vet in the morning.” I didn’t catch her name, but whoever answered the phone around 8:30pm on Oct 14, 2020 should think about working at some other places other than working for the pet emergency since you didn’t seem to care.
We had to euthanize our beloved family pet recently, and ended up at this emergency clinic. We knew our pet was sick, but didnt know how severe it was. I understand dealing with this surprise is hard on everyone, but our family wanted/needed a chance to properly say goodbye. This clinic said that we could. What they didnt tell us, however, is that they drugged him up so much that our goodbye was incredibly hollow and unfulfilling. Giving us a heads up that this was going to be the case or giving us the option to say goodbye in another fashion was not offered. It definitely felt like a bait and switch or at the very minimum an insensitive approach. Would not recommend this institution.
Our cat was sick and seemed to be in discomfort so we took him in. After driving from an hour away, we were forced to wait for 5 hours. They took him in for 5 hours. They said he had a minor bacteria infection that was easily treatable and not life threatening at all. 12 hours later our cat was 10x worse then before. We called back and all they said was they were overbooked and put him in a room by himself. 17 hours after they had checked him out he died. Whatever neglect they gave to him I will never know. Charged $800 to just put him in worse condition then he showed up in. Do not ever go here...they will just kill your pets and collect a paycheck.
Horrible encounter. It was end of life for my Poodle. Rude abrupt and demanding. Didn’t go inside..too abrupt and disinterested. Horrible attitudeUsed the downtown emergency facility for end of life. They were fabulous and met every need and more.
We brought in our Mastiff who ingested something he shouldnt have later in the night. The staff was incredibly friendly and kept us informed throughout the process. Thanks to their prompt care, our pup was treated and cleared to go home in about an hour. They even called the next day to make sure he was still feeling alright. I cant thank them enough for helping us, highly recommend!
We took our puppy who tested positive for parvo and were unable to afford the expenses. One of the providers adopted her so she could receive the medical treatment she needed. What an absolute blessing.💙
They could really work on customer service. I understand everyone has things to do but I am pretty baffled. I had my cat seen here, it was a late nights and we took advantage of their 24 hour services. I do appreciate that!! That was about a week ago. They handed us some medicine and discharge papers. my cats condition got worse so I called to ask what I could do to help her until I can bring her in. I’m a mom, and work full time and life is a lot to handle! Can’t drop everything right now to spend another 3 hours waiting and 2 hours with her inside. I’ll bring her in as soon as I can of course - but in the time in between? All they could say was that I need to bring her in, the a condescending and incredibly unprofessional way. I said I understand that she needs to come in but how can I help until then? “She just needs to come in...” Welp. Thanks Kendall. That was the vet tech that wouldn’t tell me anything more. If you need something ASAP and everywheee is close I guess this is the place to go but we are taking my poor baby else where. Where they want to help and aren’t just after your money. It was a Pricey visit too.. overpriced if you ask me.
