First of all, their hours are entirely different than what is posted, making it hard to even get in. Second, he hardly spoke English. I needed two pairs of pants hemmed and Velcro sewn onto the sleeves of my uniform. I had to explain it about five times before I thought he understood me. Then when my wife went to pick them up, they werent done like he said they would be, and he only did half the Velcro. I wore the pants one day, and halfway through the day, both pant legs came unhemed. I will definitely be going back to get my money back..
Top Alterations is the best!! I won’t go anywhere else for my alterations. He is very good at what he does, and I appreciate the top tier quality of work.
Attempted to use this business, they are currently closed for Covid and were not technologically literate enough to express that on their google business page, resulting in my time being wasted, I wanted to use their business and even give them my money, money that provided as compensation for my time, but instead this business just stole time from me, without compensating me for it, and will not be receiving any of my money, ever. I suppose that is a loss-loss. Im now asking myself, why did I even consider seeking out a seamstress who maintains a shop in a mall in Ogden, UT, good question right?
I have been here a couple time. He has done work on my work pants. Only charged me $12 a pair! My pants came out perfectly and on TIME!!!! 03.06.2020 I brought in my work jacket. I just got it back from the cleaners, which I paid $30 on. Took it to him so he could bring in the arms. Due to Covid he closed, I understand all business had to close for everyones safety! Its now 8 months later. Ive been calling his voice mail is full. I go in on different days at different times, his still closed. Note on the door is the same. No new info when hell reopen. I paid for the services already and would like my jacket back!!!
I’ve always had a great experience here. Even with some tricky alterations, they’ve come out perfect. Had them size a jacket down about three sizes and the fit and finish was awesome!
This place is absolutely awful. I have already had a negative experience with them once, but thought I would give them another try. Right now, they have my $100 Calvin Klein jacket that I paid $35 for them to fix the zipper. I dropped it off in Feb and paid for it. First they were backed up on it, now they have been closed for months due to covid. They have no answering machine and no way to communicate. Ive driven down here several times and their note on the door always says something different. I just want my jacket back.
This location is inside of the new gate mall. At first the man seemed a bit unfriendly but after speaking with him a bit he is quite friendly. Very inexpensive, very good work. put patches on my cut while I waited. Very friendly. Will be back. Be a little patient because his English skills are poor but worth going in to see him If you need something fixed or attached in a hurry.
I was super excited to get my clothes tailored for the first time and have them fit me properly. I chose to come here after a few friends highly recommended him. I wanted my shoulders taken down a bit so they would fit my body type better and now the shoulders like super awkward and one of my shirt has two huge holes on it by the new seam. I will attach pictures if I can. Seriously so disappointed. Spent $30 on these shirts plus $14 each to get them tailored. What a waste.
I’ve had two gowns altered here and they’ve both fit perfectly. The man that works there is very careful to measure and pin the gowns exactly the way you want and is very good at confirming the fit to your liking.Price for alterations is SOOOO affordable compared to places like David’s bridal. David’s bridal wanted to charge me $200 just to hem my dress but here at Top Alterations, they altered the bodice, hem and shoulder straps all for $75. Can’t beat that!I definitely recommend this business!
I am happy with the quality of their work, my item was ready as promised. Good value. Small mom and pop business. 👍👍
I hate that I have to give this jerk even 1 star. My dress was still too big after he gave it back to me, but that’s not what I’m mad about. I spent $220 on the dress and $46 for him to tighten my straps and take it in a bit on the top. The only reason I bought the dress was because I loved the diamond belt it came with. When I dropped it off I put the belt on the hanger and walked out. When I went to pick it up I noticed the belt wasn’t in the bag. I asked him if he had it in the back and he got so defensive. He said he didn’t have my belt and he was telling me he never saw a belt. I asked him multiple times if I could just walk back and look around, and he refused to let me. When my husband got upset he finally let me have a look around, and sure enough I found it on the floor. He was so rude I couldn’t even believe it. Worst customer service ever. I can deal with the fact that the dress wasn’t done the way it was supposed to be, but for him to loose my belt and then yell at me was unacceptable! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!!
He kept putting off my fiances dress like it wasnt important. Then he completely butchered the 1000$ dress and now its to late to have him fix it. I would give it worse then a 1 star if I could. Thanks for ruining her dress.
They do good work, had some patches put on a leather jacket
Ive only used Top Alterations once, but it was a negative experience. I brought in a suit to have the sleeves shortened and the pants hemmed. The tailor took the time to pin the sleeves and pants exactly how I wanted them. I picked them up nine days later (he was late ... no biggie) and he did a fine job on the pants, but I wasnt happy with the sleeves. They werent the length we agreed upon; one sleeve was noticeably longer than the other. Thats a very fixable issue, not uncommon when you have clothing altered.I brought the suit coat back in and tried to explain to the tailor (sorry, cant remember his name) that the sleeves didnt look right. Instead of looking at how the jacket fit me, he hastily measured the sleeves, told me they were the same length, and laughed as if I was a fool for disturbing him. He went right back to work and expected me to leave, grateful his measuring tape had set me straight.I looked down at my sleeves, which were very obviously different lengths. (Its quite possible the sleeves are actually the same length and my arms are actually different lengths.) I was finally able to convince him to actually look at how the jacket fit me, and I really tried to be polite. At this point he was very annoyed, and this was somewhat justified as someone else was waiting. However, a good tailor stands by their work and tries everything reasonable to please their customers. The tailor, completely exasperated, told me to pin the sleeves myself, and he said hed alter them for free. Then he said very rudely that if I came back unhappy with the length of the sleeves, he would charge me 3 times his normal price to fix them. At this point I decided Id try out another tailor. Id come in and spoken kindly with this man, but he was rude and made light of my concerns. He strikes me as very imprecise and impatient. These arent good traits for a tailor. The silver lining to this story is I tried out Alenas Alterations (in Riverdale), and Ive been very pleased with her work. She has tailored two suits for me and Ive had a great experience working with her. I wasnt satisfied with the length of one sleeve she altered, and when I brought it to her, she was happy to take a look at it, and she agreed to fix it without any extra charge. I definitely recommend her for suits, though I cant speak to wedding dresses.
I brought my wedding dress here to be taken in. I knew it would be a particularly difficult job because the dress has a lot of delicate hand beading, and I was very nervous to leave it with him. There was a very specific point at which I wanted it to be taken in at the back, and I specifically asked him not to take it in at all in the torso because it felt more comfortable a little looser. Im pretty sure he took it in at the torso, too, because it feels much tighter now. It fits perfectly, but its not what I asked him to do. Overall, the work looks a little raggedy--loose threads coming out from the beading along the seam he made and a layer where the tulle is doubled over and looks a little odd... I know it was a hard job because of the beading and the way the dress was constructed, so Im not sure if this could have been avoided no matter where I took it. He did do a great job making sure the beading pattern lined back up at the seam he made, which was the big thing I was worried about. My dress isnt ruined by any means, and it fits much better than it did before. However, I am a little disappointed and kind of wish I had shopped around for places in Salt Lake, as I didnt have a lot of other options in Ogden.
I had some dresses alter for my elderly mother and he did a SUPERB job. 👍👍👍
Quick, professional alterations performed at a decent price.
The only top alterations she need is to just go topless
Great job on my wedding dress and some drapes awesome people there
They do a good job but are a little high on some things.
Great places for altering all kind of clothing
They do good work
Horrible experience! I brought in a pair of work pants to have hemmed and they did a terrible job and wouldnt fix them!! It was crooked and they missed parts of it. Very rude also!! They insisted it was a good job and told me to leave. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!
Hemmed my pants way shorter than we agreed and now I have 2 Steve Urkel pants!
I went ask for quote on my dress and the Asian guy there was just rude, very bad customer service.
Typicall over priced store.
