Place is biggest waste of money and time. Always something my kids never can swim always a dumb reason or closed. But I got to pay over a hundred a month and if my money isnt on card that day 30 charge no excuse. And this place is supposed to be Christian based. Trufit is about to get my business back or crunch this place is a joke.
Called to see about a membership before I went up there, I was told there was a 7day free trial, and I could pay cash for my membership,I personally dont like things automatically coming off my card, I get there and was told I couldnt pay cash for my membership. I asked why? And was told because of the Corona virus when I proceeded to as what that had to do with anything, I was told it was because people didnt pay there monthly bills, theyd just walk in.🤔🤔🤔 so Im like ummmmm how exactly does the 2 coincide, with each other,so I called and was transferred to another supervisor who was rude as hell,
I used to work at this gym when I was in high school. I have been a member on and off for over 20 years. It’s sad to see how the level of customer service has plummeted over the past few years. They couldn’t care less about their members. The building is also very old and run down. Not to mention, they are the highest priced gym in Odessa. Employees are very mismanaged and lazy. It’s sad.
Gym looked very nice and dressing room very clean. I would get a membership there if I worked out or had kids to take to the daycare..
Support your local non profit organizations :) they do wonders for our community.
Worst customer service, people who work here are very unprofessional.
This place is for the slummy people. Just plain dirty and people are rude. The pool is gross. I just moved here and typically the YMCA is admirable to attend, but not this one. Its the epitome of unsanitary, for the mind and body. This place is not the place where you want your child to spend time at, especially alone. These people are not good role models. Go to Odessa College if you prefer quality.
This is the oldest gym in town with the worst service in Odessa.
This place have so much potential and I especially enjoy the friendly staff and supporting an organization like the YMCA. This place constantly let things break down and are slow to get stuff fixed however. The hot tub in the mens locker room was down for a month or so. The air conditioning in one of the workout rooms was out for weeks during the middle of summer! As I write this, the steam room is out in the mens locker room with notes posted all over the building which read steam room is not working and will be down until further notice. Sorry for any inconvenience. Management team; I have questions. When will it be fixed? Isnt there someone in charge of keeping things maintained and getting things fixed promptly when they go down? Do you all measure how good or poorly you are doing at keeping things working properly? How interested is the board in how well our YMCA runs and is maintained?. I think all of our members see the ymca as a nice community resource, and that is why we support it and pay a premium over the cost of local gym memberships. Its only a good resource if things work well however.
I remember this place I miss it so much I miss Camryn and Kobe they really made my day I’ll miss mrs Clara to I will always will love this place 💗
I can only comment on weight room. Not enough room. Inadequate equipment. You will have to go to a more adequate facility to take your physique to the next level. Only adequate for a beginning weightlifter.
Yesterday I was not allowed to use the facility because I was not wearing a mask from the front desk to the double doors but I was fine with that I cancelled my membership and wanted a refund for the month I had just paid for but my request for a refund was refused even though I just paid for it 6 days ago
My daughter attended YMCA daycare in 2017 for a month or 2.We are back a year later and she is extremely excited to attend. I hope this year is better. Staff seems nice and they remembered her as she walked in this morning.
The YMCA offers an awesome enviorment. The hours on Saturday are 7:00 am-7:00 pm :)
The facility is very clean and nice. The staff is very friendly. I wish they would however get sanitizer wipes instead of the spray and cloth. Other than that, I like it there.
Great place and great people ! Awesome place to work out 👌🏽
I was visiting from Houston for a few days. I have been using this facilities from Monday, October 3rd. 2016 to Thursday, October 6th 2016.I love this place. The people that work here are all great, amazing people. Mr. Rock is such a great guy, and all the team was super friendly and kind. I will certainly miss their great service to the members. They go above and beyond to help you in anything you need. Plus the hours are phenomenal, 5 am to 12 am?I love my YMCA back home, but I certainly didnt miss it because of the kindness and attention from this location. The ladies Selena, and another Hispanic lady, (Im sorry I forgot her name). They are super helpful and nice. Great personalities. And Mr. Rock (mens locker room) and Sergio (I believe thats his name) from the front are amazing. The rest of the team I didnt ask their name because I was in and out, but they all were super friendly.Love this place, love YMCA, love these people. I pray that God bless them all with amazing health, and prosperity in all areas of their lives.
Over all nice play I quit because they totally ruined the swimming pool, you cant even swim laps because its like 3 feet deep and there were only 2 places in town to swim in the first place super sas
Very disappointed that the swimming pool is closed more than it is open. I pretty much pay $72 for the indoor pool bit its always closed not to mention the water was freezing most of winter just not worth the money
Not a good experience here. We moved here from out of state and this is the worst YMCA Ive ever seen. Rowdy kids hang out at the front using inappropriate language and I always feel very uncomfortable when I have to walk through the doors to bring my child to basketball practice. Last night a teenage girl (approximately 12 or 13 years old) was straddling a boy while he was sitting in a chair and being extremely sexual in the corridor while children and parents were walking out from youth basketball games. Similar behavior happens pretty much every time we come here to this place. It is not welcoming to outsiders who are not from Odessa. Pretty disappointing because we heard Odessa was a great place to have kids for sports. The basketball program is also very unusual. Being a coach myself, I have been disappointed to see the way my child has been treated by other players and no one says or does anything to correct behavior. I have heard the same few individuals coach and I guess its sad for some of these kids who could really benefit from learning the fundamentals and mechanics at an early age. Hopefully someone will get a better handle on this place and turn it into an upstanding place that everyone in the community could benefit from.
Good Physical equipment. Clean Gymnasium. Cool Aquatics
I truly enjoy the YMCA Zumba classes. I like the Dancing ones with instructor Angela. her songs are fast and she makes you work . when you leave her class you feel like you have run a mile and half. I cant do the Zumba strong with Erica it is to much for me. My fitness level is still not that high due to my job. I cant always go to the regular Zumba classes. But when I do get to attend Angela is my favorite instructor. Erica is a very good instructor, but its just is to intense for me although I have gone to many of her classes and have enjoyed them. There is another instructor that was on leave when I started attending Zumba her name is Lydia. I have gone to some of her classes and have not walked out because I did not want to be rude. One particular Saturday I attended she would sit down after every song to rest and even motioned to a lady in the class to continue song. of course she did not, she was there to participate in the class not do it for her. She took many breaks in that one hour. sat and talked and after the hour she said she was continuing the class for an additional 15 mins, so we could get a full hour of exercise. I left and so did several people, I myself did not even break out into a sweat or anywhere near that. That day was a total waste of my time. I went to reception and told staff I was very unhappy and that I would like to speak to person in charge. I was advised she was not in and I would be contacted. I did receive a call but I was unable to answer. and due to my job, Im out of town the majority of the time and can not always sit and talk. so I decided to come one here and voice my concerns. I can not post a review on the rest of the programs the YMCA offers since I do not partake in them. MY name is Eva B.D.
My husband and I were looking into placing our child in the daycare up until this evening when we showed up to get the application and the old prune 4th grade teacher was yelling at the kids!!!! What the heck!!!! It is not professional nor correct to be yelling at children the way this lady was!!! If those were my children and I hear/see her yelling at them she would be getting a taste of my fist!GET IT TOGETHER YMCA!!!!!!!! HIRE THE CORRECT PEOPLE TO CARE FOR THESE CHILDREN!!!
We were members for two months. Most of the nursery staff were good. The hot tubs were closed the week I signed up and I paid for it but was not notified of this. I asked for a tour and no one was willing to show me anything. The ac went out in the cardio and weight rooms in the month of June aka hotter than hell here in Odessa and took about a month to fix. All they had were semi large fans that were useless. No one would clean the equipment after they were done and there was never any towels in stock to do so. The entire building is highly outdated. The pool always stayed dirty and was constantly over 85 degrees which isn’t pleasant when you’re doing water aerobics. They would cut aerobics short 15 mins early due to swimming classes. The lifeguards locked up one night and lost the keys to the large sliding doors and locker rooms. The female lifeguard was always either on her phone or on her Apple Watch. You could never find a place to park no matter the time of day. Save your money and go elsewhere.
Everyone I’ve met so far is very nice, my kids love it .
The gym equipment was nice, but there was not enough room between pieces.
If you like to play racquetball dont go when school kids get out of school. It is impossible to play due to the kids playing in the other courts and screaming so loud that I get a headache. The kids arent even supposed to be in there but staff members do NOTHING to police the kids. We pay alot of money for our memberships and lockers but that may be changing soon. Ive complained to staff and they just say tell me that there is no one else she can send and she cant leave the front desk. All racquetball players have told me the same thing and most have gone to OC.
When i went there the area leading to the pool was filthy. I got a terrible foot fungus and a daughter of mine even got foot warts. We had to go to a dermatologist to get rid of her foot warts.
My son attended the YMCA summer program for some weeks and I would not recommend it. The class was overcrowded with kids sitting on a dingy carpet most of the day. There were no activities planned to keep school aged children occupied throughout the day. Most days they watched television. For the amount of money they ask for to include extra for field trips, I did not think it was worth it. The teachers did not seem interested in child development as they were in getting the day over with. Close to the end of the day they would line up the children and sell them junk food (candy, chips, ice cream).
I think some of the staff dont know what theyre doing my son has been bitten a lot of times this past week and I dont want to do nothing about it so dont take your kid to this place I think Im going to get him out and put them somewhere else he comes home every day with a bite mark
Hated this gym! The cardio room is outdated and the wifi didnt ever seem to be working. The weight room was awesome, however you couldnt use the machine because the guy ahead of you is texting, taking selfies, etc. The pool was always full of annoying, inconsiderate, and wild kids (everyones favorite). Total chaos here, this place has way too many things going on all at once, at any given moment.
Was on the phone with my mom (at around 9am on Wednesday) when she was about to go into her Zumba class. I overheard her asking the instructor a question, and her reply was so ugly and disrespectful that my mom immediately walked out.
Cost alot of money to join...once you joined and get sucked in...they dont let you do anything unless you pay more money...i wouldnt recommend this place to a homeless fly !!!!!!!
Great customer service at front desk
Good place to go exercise and comfortable!
Perfect for people want to get fit
Great place to relax, and play. *wink wink.
Love it staff is very helpful
Absolute trash! Whoever is running the football programs there should be shot! Truly pathetic and an embarrassment to west Texas.
They preceded to refuse me access to the pool because i am hiv positive, needless to say ill be taking my business elsewhere
The lakeview park is beautiful
After my membership is over, Im never coming back!
Finally got the steam room working again
Very very awsome
Friendly place and lots of workout equipment
You have to have a i.d on you which they don’t tell you when you call and a picture of your I.d on your phone would not work either😡 just to go swimming
Poorly maintained, zombie lifeguards.
Good
Worst gym in the area
The basketball court
Good experience,,
Ewwww everyone smells like armpits!
I really like all their programs and the instructors are very kind
Good team good facilities and very friendly staff
