This is a review for the 6-week CrossFit intro “Challenge” course lead by one of the co-owners Coach Clyde Abell. The Challenge was an awesome option to restart my regular workouts and learn about ways to improve my health. The class is extremely varied so you get a full-body workout without getting bored. All movements are explained beforehand and everyone can keep up. In addition to workouts, the coaches provide advice on mobility, nutrition, and anything else you want to ask about. It’s a motivational community between the caring coaches and other beginners you go through the class with. Don’t be afraid of not being able to complete the Challenge because it is totally manageable and scalable and the coaches are very observant and can provide personal recommendations on your movements or weights. I haven’t worked with the other coaches but Clyde is a superstar! He’s a super approachable and knowledgeable and a natural coach – good at these introductory explanations, motivational, patient, and very inclusive of everyone in the class. I’d recommend the class to anyone looking to exercise while learning more about their body and health. Expect an hour class, 3x/wk, with the first half generally dedicated to warm-up and more technical strength training, and the second-half more fast-paced circuits.

***** Five stars all around for CrossFit Power Grid!*****My husband and I moved to the East Bay from out of state in July 2018. We were previous members of a CF gym prior to moving to California. We visited several CrossFit gyms in the East Bay, and we couldn’t find one we liked here. Luckily, we eventually found CFPG and so glad we did!!We were welcomed with open arms by the owners, coaches, and members alike. There is a supportive community here that we did not experience at other boxes. Being new to California not knowing anyone, coupled with working remote from home, I needed an outlet to meet others and still get in my workouts. Not only are the people awesome, but we also love the huge warehouse space, brand new equipment, and free parking.Thank you CFPG!

If youre looking to trash your exercise regimen and wanting a new challenge youll love CFPG. Awesome community of athletes looking to push themselves while having fun. The coaches rock and the workouts are killer. Ive been doing crossfit for awhile and what separates this box with others is the owners and coaches commitment to building a supportive community to reach your fitness goals.

Ive been at this gym for almost 2 years now and Ive had nothing short of an amazing experience. I was living in the South Bay for several months last summer and went to a different Crossfit gym there, but the community and spirit just didnt match what I was used to at Power Grid.

I moved to California In November 2015 and was a bit skeptical about finding a new gym with great coaching that would also offer a great environment. I chose CrossFit Power Grid since my fiancé was already part of it. Well, it turned out to be the best CrissFit box Ive ever been to.How do I rate this decision? Two main factors: Great coaching and an awesome super friendly environment. On top of the regular classes, they also offer different programs that are included in your monthly payment. These programs are: weightlifting (twice a week) and endurance training (twice a week). If this is not enough for you, these people really love their athletes. After a year in their grand opening, they already decided to upgrade by moving to a bigger and newer location. How awesome is that? The new location has about double the space for athletes to work on other areas while classes are going on.The equipment is new, well maintained and they make sure the floor and equipment is always clean. Theres a ton of open gym time during the week. They organize social gatherings outside the box to make sure that our friendship is beyond the walls of the box. We go hiking, skiing, karaoke singing, or go grab a beer after a Saturday workout. You can always tell that a CrossFit box is successful by sticking for a few months and see if the majority of its athletes sticks to attendance and the program itself. I can see that the group is extremely consistent in these two characteristics.I personally invite you to join CrossFit Power Grid if you happen to look for a new box that will inspire you to either continue with your fitness program or if you are looking to have a good time while working out. You wont be disappointed.

The community at Power Grid is the definition of what it should be like: supportive, friendly, accepting, and encouraging. Theres a perfect balance of challenge and goofing off (lets be real: Crossfit is HARD sometimes. If it isnt fun, who wants to do it?)The place feels like Cheers -- everybody knows my name and Im always greeted with the equivalent of wassup Norm! -- minus beer plus handstand push-ups. Except on movie nights when we BBQ and have beer.Just as importantly, Im continuing to get stronger and faster and leaner and better at stupid human tricks like muscle-ups and handstand walking. The coaches listen, the space is huge, the equipment is new and constantly growing, and there are a bunch of new-to-Crossfit folks so beginners have a crew to grow up with.Stop by, give Bailey the gym dog a scritch behind he ears, and stay to move heavy stuff until you cant stand up. Youll go home smiling.
